  1. Now that the debug screen is gone, and I have no measure of kills, what on earth am I supposed to do? I'm on Day 119, I have an L85A2, an AS50, a Ghillie Suit, an M9SD, all the toolbelt equipment and plenty of food and drink running in the forests. I have no way of knowing if I've killed someone anymore, and the zombie kills are the only things counted on the scoreboard - but I don't need to go near zombies because I don't need to go scavenging in towns. So what do I do? I could build a vehicle, but that just makes me a target, not to mention, most of the vehicles are hidden in the back of beyond. Even if I successfully built a car, what would I do with it? Go hunting in the forest with a Ute? I'm really struggling to know why I should continue to play this. It was so much fun when I first got it, and I put weeks into playing, not always killing, but the scoreboard made it more measurable. I'd suggest Debug gets returned until some sort of mission/quest system gets implemented. Until that happens, this is a game without a point.

What is the point of this game now?

There is a misconception in this thread that I want the debug monitor back to track my kills. I want it back until an alternative objective system is put in place. I know the game is a sandbox, but there isn't anything especially constructive to be done in this game. Done this. But thanks for the suggestion. Recycling a castle or supermarket would have been so much fun. I wasn't ingame for 119 days, no. I played until it got to about 25, then there was a hacker influx, so my group of friends and I all quit. I started up again this week. Cars disappeared long ago on the Aussie servers. They're all hidden away or blown up. See above this quote for survival. Hi there, welcome to my thread. I'm not bragging. I don't kill newbies with no weapons usually. I was pointing out a lack of objectives. Thanks for coming. Don't come back. I survived 30 days then AFKd 89. But thanks for replying to my thread and giving me the affirmation of my skill that I desired so greatly. This is the best suggestion so far, and about the third time it's been mentioned. The only problem is that people don't accept help. I've blood bagged people in Elektro and been killed because they thought I was coming to kill them with an axe. I've gone to have fun with a group and help them, and been killed as soon as I reached them to cries over voice comms of "HAHA YOU FUCKING IDIOT" - I suspect these types of people are people like JubeiDOK. Done it. But we did it in a field next to Novy with chemlights and flares. That's how I started this game. I don't know why you replied then. Don't do it again, thanks. This thread is for people with suggestions as to what fun can be had once everything is achieved. By the way, I died last night leading a group of 5 people into Elektro to go hunting. It seems pretty pointless that the most fun I had all week involved me running across the map to find someone willing to shoot. I spose that's the problem now that everyone sticks to the coast.

What is the point of this game now?

No. I wanted the Debug to track some progress because there isn't anything resembling objectives at all other than the tally. Yeah I was liking this idea best of the list. Vehicles are impossible to find. Players I'm trying to find. I'm sticking around Starry / NW, but nothing happens.

What is the point of this game now?

It provides a scoreboard, a point to gauge yourself against. I understand the point of a survival game, but hiding in the woods and running around killing boar and making a fire isn't surviving. That's Stone Age Simulator. I do play private hives, but those hives are limited to ONE server, and the beauty of DayZ is that it is(or was) playable across all servers. Private hives mean that once a server dies, it's as if an entire gaming community is gone. I haven't been killing anyone in the past few days because I have no need to. If I had friends with me still, I'd kill and then loot for them. Generally you can tell if a name comes up at the same time that you shot that you've got them, but sometimes they'll bleed or log, and it's not 100%, especially if multiple names are dying. After a TEOTWAWKI experience, people don't have high powered military weapons and self-sufficiency in the wild. Which is exactly what I, and many other players, have got. There is no 'survival'. Zombies aren't a real threat once you have ammunition. Players are, but they're avoidable. There is no reason to visit towns. Overall I understand the intentions in removing the Debug interface. The scoreboard when you hit 'i' still has Zombie kills, but a game has to have an objective of some sort. Or if it's a sandbox, then it has to be a proper sandbox where you can find a purpose. There is no purpose to DayZ that I can see.

    Hotfix Build 1.7.2.3 Rolling Update

Potentially the worst idea I have ever heard suggested for a game of any sort. That includes the plethora of weapons and hats that were put into Team Fortress 2.

    Hotfix Build 1.7.2.3 Rolling Update

Completely necessary. They're making silly remarks. Can someone confirm a patch + DayZ version in which you don't lose gear? It'd be helpful if people posting here saying "Yay Rocket it's all working ok lol! i have all my gear and stuffs lol!" would actually post the versions they're using.
  7. I posted this yesterday and didn't fully realise what was happening. Anyway, mods never approved it so I'm reposting with new info since I believe that this could be a dangerous issue. Date/Time: 6:30am UTC July 9th What happened: I logged onto a server, saw a player in a Ghillie suit prone, killed him, checked his inventory and he had the exact same kit and gear that I had, down to the camping tent, civilian clothing, and FN FAL mags. I then ran away from the area I'd killed him in, and went to log off because the server was daylight. Once I logged off, I logged into another server to play and I was dead and offered the gender selection screen. THE PLAYER I KILLED WAS A PAST VERSION OF MY PLAYER THAT GOT SPAWNED NEXT TO ME. Where you were: Starry Sobor What you were doing: Read above^ *Current installed version: 1.7.1.5 *Server(s) you were on: Seattle #74 *Your system specs: n/a *Timeline of events before/after error: Above^

[GUIDE] City Sized Maps - WIP

There's a spawn point in Elektro in the middle of the shoreline to the west of the docks and southeast of that little housing section. These are awesome!
  11. it's pretty obvious. if u r going to connect to 10/40 server' date=' it's probably something wrong there. try 40/40 instead [/quote'] Some of us don't want to connect to 40/40 servers, because that means the number of zombies is ridiculous... making it VERY difficult to play... and that's not even MENTIONING the douchebags who live to cause grief for other gamers. I'm guessing you're one of those by your comment. The fewer players on a server, the fewer zombies on that server, and the smaller chance of dying. THAT seems pretty obvious. Jackass. This ain't the Sims yo.
  12. This came in (9hours ago): Day Z Development ‏@dayzdevteam Full services now restored to DayZ -Rocket Yeah I saw that, but then there are all the other people saying it's still not working for them, so I'm trying to figure out if they're just idiots, or if Rocket's missed something ;)

    Hunger + Thirst

When I run from my spawn at Balota to Starry, I should need food and drink at the end of it, or even part way through. But when I drive from Balota to Starry, about 5-10minutes up the road, my food and drink should be perfectly full. Who on earth needs to eat and/or drink after a 10 minute drive? Simple things need fixes too.

Magazines for FN and Bizon. NV toggle

Americans get involved in almost every conflict as well as supplying weaponry. When was the last time the Belgians did that? It's logical.

    Remove the confirmation

Please go play the Sims or Minecraft or some other game where PvP isn't an integral part of the game.

Fix the toggle, screw the ammo share. I've got plenty of mags for my Fal.

Are you sure you want to respawn?

I just went to change my options in a server on day with an FN FAL NV, full kit including ghillie suit, and I accidentally clicked respawn. Instead of getting a prompt, I died instantly, and now have to run back to where I died. I'm lucky in that I was with friends who can hold my gear, but not everyone is, or has people online. Not only this, but I've seen several others do this too. Please put in a message saying "Are you sure?"
  22. Wolves & Bears. Already been suggested, but to go further: When you kill them, they should yield a skin that can be worn over clothing/with clothing, that will stop your temperature dropping below a certain level, maybe 40 degrees. As well as this, they'll be the colour of the animal, so dark grey or brown, and will still be camouflaged in the forests. Ghosts. Given by Joaby at GameArena. Suggestion is that every now and then, there'll be a coughing noise, or some unintelligible language spoken along with footsteps in the ambient sound. Could be running or walking. Flare Gun. Like Team Fortress 2's, but more realistic. A flare gun that is able to be found, and then fired directly up in the air, will rise for a few hundred metres and come down to earth slowly, illuminating softly as it goes. This is how real flares work, and it'd be a great deal better than the current ones which only illuminate at ground level. Alternative is some sort of parachute flare, like the ones dropped by airforces especially during WWII to illuminate bombing targets. Would be great for the big cities.
  23. LordHussyPants

Animals, Ghosts and a different flare

The reason I want a flare gun different to the M203's one is because of an experience a few years ago on Guy Fawkes. Our house is on the top of a ridge that runs along for about a kilometre before meeting with another one that is directly opposite, forming a V shape. Someone had gone up to the park at the point of the V and fired off an emergency flare gun and it left a trail of red about 2-300 metres long and a bright red flare that constantly burned as it went for a good minute. The best part was that it wasn't a fast firing projectile, but it crawled out the distance over the valley and was perfect for illumination because of it's slow speed. I think this would be much better. As for the ghosts, it was just meant as ambient noise. You hear some footsteps. I'm revamping that suggestion and putting it back as a 2.0. Watch out for it!
  24. LordHussyPants

Animals, Ghosts and a different flare

I think rather than infected dogs, wild dogs would be an option. Once a zombie apocalypse happens, and everyone escapes, the animals will often be left behind and I can imagine dogs grouping up into packs. Just imagine a poodle tearing down the road at you as the vanguard of a mob of Alsatians. It's brilliant!

A man's name is only as good as his word

They already have the heartbeat mechanism that deafens you if you look at someone who has killed. It also counts to ALL kills. I had 4, died, died again, and then had a friend look at me and get the throbbing heartbeat sound.
