Skill points are a horrible idea and go against the main theme of this game.
-
Of course most of it will happen. Most people play with real life friends, or join a 'clan'. The only thing in that list which requires group play is the 'underground bases'. In eve you cannot build a Titan without the help of a several hundred people large corporation. Obviously the scale will be smaller here as they're aiming for ~200 players per server. Still, building underground bases won't be a necessity, and if you really want one you'll have to join a group. (personally I think the idea is a little bit weird but its all good)

ROFL...does my character look that dumb?

The only Cannes we care about here are beans. Now get lost, bot. -
Number 5 made me sad. No logout timer means players will still d/c and its up to the few members working on day z to monitor thousands of servers.

Hope its true, so I can mercilessly murder gold farmers over and over again.

Disconnect, change server, flank, reconnect. Simple solution.

"I'm 100 per cent positive now that this will be made as a game" - Quote from Rocket in reference to stand alone The other thing I have to prove is that he said he will stop work on the mod and change to the standalone, its in a video interview and I cannot be bothered to spend my time trying to prove pseudo-intellectuals, such as yourself, wrong. The 'fixes' to the problems are my personal opinions. Rocket has, however, stated PRECISELY that he will not spend much time fixing issues that will be instantly fixed once the game is standalone. If you don't want to believe me you can continue to live in your little world of ignorance. -

The problem is Day Z mod is on its last legs. What I mean by that is that development for it is going to stop very soon, and all development will be put into the standalone. The standalone product will not have these problems from the start. The solutions to these problems are log out timers to stop the d/c-ing plague, and separate character data for each server. These fixes will be easily built into a new game, but it will take a lot longer to tack it on to an old aging engine. We can only hope Rocket does fix the d/c problem; unfortunately separate character data would put a ton more load on the hive/servers and won't probably be addressed till the standalone. -

Yeah I didn't really read your original post. It just sounds like another bleed mechanic, like exactly the same, and thus sounds redundant. Anyway, I don't like the sound of it. But good on your for thinking about stuff. -

Wrath (DayZ) replied to Nebo NZ's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Ok but still unless there is a way to cure it with meds or whatever it is still a 'one-shot' mechanic. -

Really bad idea when zombies zig zag run at you at the speed of sound. Gonna be really fun being 'one-shot' by a zombie. -

Lets keep this thread going, we really need this thread up the top. I know you're incredibly busy Rocket, and what you've done so far is amazing, but please make this your next priority as it really ruins the whole point of the game, survival. -
The future of Day Z: Standalone Discussion
Wrath (DayZ) posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Day Z Standalone So unless you've been under a rock you'll know that Day Z is heading standalone. This is a very important time for the community and I think we should all be thinking about what we'd like to see and what we wouldn't like to see. Once work begins on the standalone, Day Z mod will be abandoned so it is important we voice our opinions on the future direction of our loved mod now rather than later. If you've seen the latest news post, it talks about Rocket seeking partnership to take Day Z to a standalone product. What was surprising to me was that Bohemia hasn't grabbed the opportunity with both hands, grabbed their ghille, M107, and sat on a hill sniping off any other company execs coming to speak to Rocket. Real Virtuality What this means is that Day Z may be moved onto a different engine than the Real Virtuality engine which 'powers' the ARMA series. I personally dislike the idea of Day Z being on anything but the ARMA engine. I know it has its problems, its not as smooth as other AAA titles out there etc etc, but it really delivers a visceral experience and the visuals tend towards photorealism rather than the cinematic 'brown and bloom' of other titles, the ballistics modelling is second to none, and the scale of the landscape unparalleled. I can honestly say that I have been immersed in ARMA II/Day Z more than any other game, and a lot of this is to do with the engine/sound/lighting/scale and setting. Where the ARMA II engine fails, the ARMA III (Real Virtuality 4) picks up. A look at the features of this engine, and a look at the few 'gameplay' videos of it on youtube are very impressive. ARMA III looks like it would be a _perfect_ base for a standalone Day Z. I really do hope Bohemia help Rocket with development so we may see Day Z based upon the RV4 engine. Future Direction Additionally, I am concerned that when big money is involved, Rockets creative direction is going to be dictated to some extent. All the more reason that I hope Bohemia stays on board, as they clearly acknowledge what Rocket is doing and the direction he is taking Day Z in. I know it will probably be tempting to give in to pressure when the money begins to say "lets open Day Z up to a wider audience", or "we don't want to ignore the COD fanbase"; these types of notions never end well. I think the community needs to focus on the games direction as we do stand to end up with a game QUITE different to the current direction of Day Z mod. Please add your own thoughts to this thread. -
If Day Z Had a New Engine, What Would You Want to See?
Wrath (DayZ) replied to Ywain's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Don't change the engine. Just move to the new engine. Real Virtuality 4. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/35165-the-future-of-day-z-standalone-discussion/ -
This game is fucking garbage!!!!1

Hey... hey bro, you're playing a free alpha stage mod of a 3 year old game. Let me just go over those points again to reiterate. Free. Alpha Mod. 3 Year old game. This isn't a finished product. You didn't pay for it. You cannot demand anything. Edit: After reading your post more thoroughly, it seems you're upset about server hoppers/disconnect-ers. Whilst my initial point stands, I ALSO would like Rocket to do something to address this problem. However he in no way has to do a darn thing, and doesn't owe us anything. -
Your first post on the forums and you've already shown that you're a retard. Nice effort OP but you failed to hide your child-like intellect.

Wrath (DayZ) replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I really hope this is one of his top priorities, it really is more important than new features. Its starting to turn people off this mod. I really don't want that as this is the perfect game. -
Dayz becomes stand-alone game, what happens to us?
Wrath (DayZ) replied to erikgmez's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If they made the Standalone free it would be horrible for the game. Have a little think about it. Development would cost millions, where are they going to recoup those costs? Buy having an item shop where you buy items for real world money. no. no. no. I'm sure 99% of your base will gladly buy a standalone game considering we've all bought Combined Ops for ~$30 just for an alpha mod. -
