Umm... 10-20 meters "in reality"? Seriously, have you ever heard a gun with a suppressor being fired? If someone fired a pistol with a suppressor 20 meters from you, you couldn't miss it... and you think a suppressed AK would not be heard 10 meters away??

Happens to me a few times per day.

Guns firing when loading and Mags getting stuck.
magmatrix replied to Turdstick's question in Troubleshooting
Happened to me with an MP5 yesterday. When i tried moving the mag to inventory, it didn't move. When trying again, it turned red when dragging it. Then the MP5 was stuck in my hands and i could not raise it or drop it. I just assumed the mag was destroyed and got stuck... -
*sigh* Why oh why all the character wipes? What is so fundamentally different between releases that it requires a complete wipe??? Add a christmas tree - wipe all characters. Adjust loot balance - wipe all characters. and so on... Really??

I see no difference in fps when it is raining. Usually I have around 90-120 fps all the time. Quite a difference compared to pre-0.60 !!

Deerstands. Do these ever have anything? what?
magmatrix replied to redmantab's topic in General Discussion
.308 ammo, scopes, hunting jackets, quivers and bolts, ... -
For some reason I can't create a new topic. Forums bug or what? I can only select the greyed out ones in the "Create" dropdown... !??!?
-
I had the same problem. I fixed it by going into steam settings->inGame, changing the "activate overlay" keys to something and then back to shift-tab, and then after restarting dayz it worked again. Maybe dayz reads the settings from steam and it was corrupted somehow....

Nowhere near? Pik Kozlova is literally just a couple hundred meters to the right on this picture. This is from Prigorodki, moving towards Pusta. The only times i have been here is when i'm on my way to the top of Kozlova (to snipe people on the road below)

Feedback Tracker - Potential security breach
magmatrix replied to SMoss's topic in News & Announcements
Twitter?? So the feedback tracker has been scrapped, devs don't read the forums, and now we are supposed to use tweets to report problems. Wow... They are really using their resources in the wrong way, spending lots on fixing small and unneccessary animation details, recording new weapon sounds, etc instead of fixing problems they promised to have fixed years ago. What a disappointment :( -
Is there any way to report a cheater? Since the feedback tracker is gone, are we supposed to just post reports in any random forum section...?? Server: "[GER] |ab18| Gaming Community" Place: Jail house north of NWAF tents Time: 2016-mar-23 around 00:10 What: Hiding inside wall Now what?!?
-
Wow, the mod still looks so much better! I hope the new renderer will be as nice as the mod... Looks like the powerlines behind Pik Kozlova. Been sniping the lighthouse from the top a few times :)

Feedback Tracker - Potential security breach
magmatrix replied to SMoss's topic in News & Announcements
Will the feedback tracker ever be fixed??!??!?!?!??!?!? It has been down for weeks... -
"modem"??? haven't seen any of those for the last 20 years or so... :D
-
Problem is, the feedback tracker is "down for maintenace" almost all the time... I haven't been able to use it for about a week. It is down right now...

Dayz Servers Laggy and Character Resets on Relog
magmatrix replied to RebornNuke's topic in Troubleshooting
Same on all servers. I guess it is a major DDOS attack going on.... :/ -
I think it would balance itself really good. The "Black Lake situation" would never happen - as soon as one houseboat is built, people will shoot it to pieces and set fire on it. Problem solved. As for the "ocean problem"; the sea becomes deeper the further you move away from land, so just limit anchors so they don't reach that deep. As soon as you move into deeper water, the houseboat will slowly drift towards land and/or sideways. No need for artificial buoys. Also, the more you build and the more you store on the houseboat, the more it drags on the anchor - making it harder to keep it in place on a windy day... So if you build a big ass houseboat and store a gazillion weapons and ammos in it, just wait for a rainy and stormy night and it will be gone, flushed up on the cliffs, broken to pieces or sunken.

ban publicVariable violation on de 2592
magmatrix replied to RayPugh's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I have the same problem, have no idea what DAH means or what the public variable thing is. I get kicked from some servers but not all, and i have no idea what is wrong. I dont cheat, i dont combat log, and so on... This is so annoying when BE says "restriction #123874801237489012" (some random number) when trying to connect, and there is no explanation. Did i use a too old beta patch? too old/new dayz version? -
If the counter stopped at 2Gi, then it would mean that the *average* killcount is way over 1700 zombies per player... and that's just insanely impossible. This counter should be reset to zero.

What Does DayZ Mean To You? (PvP or Survival)
magmatrix replied to An_Atomic_Penguin's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
For me it is (or rater SHOULD be) about survival, but there has to be some level of PvP as well (a few bandits, not many). There are lots and lots and lots of 100% PvP games out there, and we don't need another one. -
I just installed 98443, but every time i try to connect to a server it says "you cannot play this mission bla bla... deleted.chernarus". And yes, I tried to connect to 98443 servers... What to do???!??!? Btw, Steam has been fucking things up lately since it now rearranges the game files every now and then... :/

How important is NAT Negotiation to server hosters?
magmatrix replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
I fail to see how that is even an issue... most ppl running any kind of server are already used to setting up port forwarding (unless the server supports UPnP). Protip: Just forget about NAT negotiation and focus on the game. -
I opened a support case for it yesterday. Steam is going the BS route and blames BattlEye atm...

Why the hell would you drop an empty mag? You keep it, and refill it when you find ammo. Examples: - If i have a PDW with 30-round mags, i want to keep them and reload them from G17 mags or with single rounds. - If i have a 1911 and find some boxes with 45ACP, then i need a mag to put them in. - I want to use machine gun ammo belts to reload my empty STANAG mags. and so on...

Use the Geoverse engine, its 100'000 times better. FACT
magmatrix replied to RiggsUK's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Geoverse, really?? Vaporware at it's finest. After two years they still don't even have an official website. Outstanding! And what does it do (read: what will it do, if they actually manage to finish the product)? Is it a framework for game authoring? Is it a physics engine? No, no... it's just a large scene voxel cloud renderer for static environments. It's like inventing a new type of wheel and saying 'hey let's build the best sports car ever with this wheel because it's soo awesumm'... so where do you get the engine from? the kevlar body? the nice plush seats? transmission? exhaust pipes? the sound system? the <iyf whatever here>? what can you actually do with just a wheel? Oh wait, the wheel is not available yet. Maybe in five years. Maybe. But you should definitely use it in the race at the end of this year. Wait, what? Geoverse has no support or intention to support lots of animations, no inventory system, no server browser, no player database, no anti-hack, no system for 3D sound, no enemy AI, no pre-made weapons, no game networking with player prediction, no health system, no nothing. But it sure can render static scenes, you just have to find all the nice places all over the world and scan them with a million dollar laser thingy - in multiple passes from every conceivable point and angle to make sure you dont get any blind spots in your voxel cloud. And transporting all that equipment into russia will be no problem whatsoever. And you can scan all those places and clean up the data and patch it together seamlessly into a nice looking world map, all before the end of this year. And of course it's no problem to write everything else you need, from scratch. Sound, inventory, AI, damage system, weapons, equipment, weather system, networking, and so on. Rocket will code it up in a jiffy! Yeah, Geoverse seems like the best choice. Thanks for the tip!
