The nametag should of course only pop up when you can actually identify the other player (when you have unobstructed LOS, are close enough/zoomed in enough with binocs for identification, and the light/visibility is sufficient). A masked/ghillied player would show up as Unknown, so masked/ghillied gangs would have to use special clothing/items to identify each other.

My thoughts on this: Bandit/hero indicators are completely unrealistic and is the wrong solution to the problem at hand. There are some basic types of players: - survivors (lone wolf or cooperative) - bandits (who think it's easier to kill and steal than to loot) - griefers Griefers gonna grief regardless of their indicators. It's easy to do and they think it's fun. They don't care about immersion, and they will happily use every hack in existance. Spawn cars and run down some freshly spawned survivors for teh lulz, or spawn endless ammo and a sniper rifle and camp cherno. Replace Battleye (which is a sad excuse for anti-hacking protection) with something that works, and this player category will be decimated. Bandits will kill/rob when they think it will be profitable. If cooperation is more useful / vital, then it would stop the lone wolf bandits. Zombies can be changed to react differently to gunshots far away, gun flash can be more visible, sounds can be improved (they are quite broken now - no occlusion, and so on), ammo more scarce, harder to survive in general, remove non-authentic weapons like AS50, M107 and so on - i mean, come on... HMMMW:s and american sniper rifles + standard NATO ammo all over Chernarus??? And if you disable combat-DC then the risk will be much greater when starting a firefight which will deter some from banditry. . There are lots of other stuff that can be done also, and i think it's much better than adding bandit/hero indicators. Such indicators will break immersion. What would be next, hit indicators? Btw, we already have the heart beat indicator... which i think should be removed. And the kill messages. They make no sense. -

I see lots of problems with this. X looks like a nice guy with his gun lowered. X walks up to Y... Y can't kill X without penalty. X suddenly raises his weapon and aims at Y's head... Y panics and raises his weapon to defend himself. Y is now a valid target. X quickly kills Y with a headshot. Y is dead, without penalty for X. -
Of course. How stupid of me and lots of others to think otherwise. Enough hardware solves it all - Quad über l33t mega-CPU:s, striped SSD:s, 136 GB turbo-ram and an array of multi colored blinkenlights should solve most problems! Such a rig would most probably even solve the problem with duping tents. Ah, so when you scroll down and get these options: "Close door", "Close door", "Close door" - then you know which one will close the door in front of you? And when the default is to close any of the doors you are not facing, you think this is acceptable? Let me guess, you design UI:s for a living, right? I see. I guess the zombies which spawn just beside me at less than arm's length every now and then is just me having a bad case of hallucinations then... Oh well, to much morphine injectors probably. No, wait... Could it be a hardware problem? Maybe i should add some gigs of memory or buy a new graphics card? Yeah, that must be it, will try it. Troll much?

First - YES! Second - Uh... NO! You want to spawn inside the barracks or what?? Jeez... Third - YES! The sound you hear should be on par with the actual noise level you have. It's completely stupid that you have zero sound according to the UI, but the sound you hear is like a hoard of elephants stomping down a jungle... Fourth - ???? You want every non-exciting area without l33t spawnz to be removed? No.

It's not hardware issues. Sometimes you get 60fps, sometimes 20fps, i even had like 0.5fps. It has to do with the server, and how long you have been playing and what you have been doing. Probably some memory leak problem. Sometimes it happens directly, sometimes it slows down gradually and becomes completely unplayable after 2-10 hours. Again, has nothing to do with your hardware. Most people have problems with this, and the devs already found the problem and is working on it. Yeah, clicking on barbed wire should remove the wire, not open doors. See the problem? You have to aim exactly at the (sub-pixel) point on the wire's vertical post to remove it. And if i'm in a shed with two open doors and am facing one door, i select Close Door and it closes the door behind me instead. Grreat!! Not a problem? If you are trapped in a house while they spawn three meters in front of you, blocking the way out? Then another one comes from behind and hits you through the wall, making you bleed? I once had to shoot 102 zombies because they were just spawning and spawning. Took me about 150 bullets, and i was down to the last mag before i could get away. Now that the weapons are nerfed, i doubt i would survive it...

Or they could just make the flashlight stop flapping? In reality you can run and hold a flashlight in approximately the same direction all the time...

More realistic backpacks/inventory (volume and weight)

Inventory atm: 1x2 shells take 1 slot, 4x2 shells take 4 slots, combine them into 1x8 shells and it takes up a single slot... hmm? broken system? I think this would be a better system: - every item should have volume and weight - the backpack should have a volume limit - you should move slower with more weight - you should also be able to carry another backpack in your hands (instead of a primary weapon), and if you select the secondary weapon then you'll drop that pack on the ground -
I was about to change some settings, but accidentaly moved the mouse a bit and hit Respawn instead. *Poof* character gone. This is VERY annoying! I think it should pop up a confirmation dialog "Are you sure you want to respawn? You will die and lose all your stuff."

What you hope for is probably not what happens in reality, since: 1 - the Abort button is at the bottom, and if you click just above it you'll hit the settings button instead (not the Respawn). 2 - Combat loggers use ALT-F4 because it is much easier. Not sure why you think i would accidentally hit the confirm button. If i click and miss the Settings button for some reason (shaking from not sleeping for 40 hours, being pushed, having the cat jump on me, whatever) and a "Confirm respawn" dialog pops up, i would of course not click on "Yes, please kill me" - i would escape back and click "Settings" properly. The chance that the cat would jump on me *again* when i'm alerted to it's presence, making me click "Yes, please kill me" is practically zero. Oh btw, your statement "since this will only happen once" is of course completely valid. And that's why M$ should remove the popup "Do you really want to delete XYZ.doc" when you hit the delete button... and the trash can should be scrapped as well.

In my mind some nice trolling schemes immediately pop up: - Running unarmed, training zombies onto people.. they will have to shoot the zombies, giving away their position to other players who will then snipe them. - Or you can follow people just to annoy them, stand in their way in doorways and so on to lock them in. If they try to shoot at you, they will just attract zombies and pvp. - You can also just walk up to them and steal things from their backpacks, funny as hell!! Steal wapons and drop on the ground. - Or you can put garbage in their packs, like some empty cans so the pack overflows and their packed DMR is deleted. Being unarmed, you have nothing to fear. Zombies? Run away from them. Players? You are bullet proof! -
This is so retarded. Why does the central database save the SPECIES of the player??? Things that need to be fixed, and it isn't even hard to do it: - Makarov mags, grenades and such stuff look like bags/pouches, just change it to the correct model. Time needed: 5 min? I dont understand why this wasnt fixed already. - Zombies spawning in your face and despawning after a second. Do the proximity check BEFORE spawning the zombie, not after. Duh! Also a 5 minute fix? - Hatchets need to be "loaded" before first use... quick fix: spawn them already loaded. - When eating a can of beans or drinking a can of soda, the can magically disappears! Thats stupid. When u drink a water bottle you get an empty bottle, do the same with food/soda. - 2, 8 or 15 shotshells? They all look the same (but the model is with about 5 shells?!). New models pleeze! Just copy the model and edit. - You shouldn't be able to recombine mags unless you actually have empty mags to fill!!! Things that need to be fixed, but maybe these are a bit harder to do: - When dropping a mag, it should drop EXACTLY the mag i selected, not just any mag of that type. - It should be possible to recombine any mags with the same type of ammo, i.e. if i have M9 mags with 2, 1, 5 bullets then i should be able to use them to top up a G17 mag. - Weapon malfunction. Should be able to take e.g. two bad AK74:s and combine into one working fine and one broken and unusable (or maybe it was so bad it just turns into scrap metal).

Zombies flashing in, aggroing, and flashing out of existance is a serious bug. Btw, I don't think you are quite familiar with my coding skills. You can use the can to produce sound, or you can drop it and other players will be able to track you when the find an empty can of sardines. What if you shaking and almost dead, eating your last can in a shed to gain some blood while zombies scream just outside... walking towards the door... if you get an empty can then u can throw it out and make them turn and walk away for a while so you get at chance to crawl out and away to safety (been there myself). Not sure what you mean. Yeah, ok it's not 5 shells (i checked now) it's 8 shells, but the all look the same. The 2 shells for double barreled has a 8-shell model, the 15-shell for the 1866 also has the 8-shell model. Why should i get my eyes checked??! I think you misunderstood what i wrote. If you have a revolver cylinder with 6 bullets in it, then how can you convert it for use in the M1911 without actually having an empty M1911 magazine to put the bullets in? It magically conjures a magazine from thin air and puts the bullets from the cylinder in it? First time i was like "oh this must be a bug, because i have no 1911 mag to top up". Or is it just implicit that you are always carrying a large number of empty 1911 mags/DMR mags/revolver cylinders, ready for conversion??? The ammo system is quite confusing. Some weapons use multiple mags, e.g. the PDW can be loaded with PWD mags, MP5 mags, M9 mags, G17 mags... (any 9x19). Others need recombination (revolver<->M1911, DoubleBarrel<->Remington/M1014, DMR<->M24). Why do you need to combine 2x4 slugs before you can load them in the M1014?? And some others can not use mags with same ammo, and the ammo can not be converted to another magazine (i.e. M248 to STANAG which would have been *sweeeeet*). Clearly, the confusion is total. The ammo system needs a makeover. Not sure where priorities are... now we are getting bear traps. And last time we got tank traps. Yay! -

Crazy graphical glitches after updating to 1.7.2.4 and 95389

That doesn't look very crazy or fucked up. I'd say that's pretty mild glitching. I have seen far worse, i think it started with 1.7.2. Problem goes away after a restart. I have an nvidia GTS250, always latest driver. -

I think you are completely wrong. For me it's usually not that hard to see what someone is up to. Some ppl (like me) lower their weapons, walks slowly and keeps a distance, salutes the other player or something like that. Other ppl go prone, some hide in shadows, some run sideways or try to find a good position for shooting. Some people are camping in places where they are obviously planning an ambush. Some people sneak up on others. Some make sure they are seen and heard on a distance just to avoid an unnecessary firefight... If you are prone on top of a silo in Cherno with a sniper rifle then you are probably looking for someone to kill, preferrably someone with a Coyote packed with meat and ammo and a nice gun for you to steal. I wouldn't shoot someone with a patrol pack and Makarov just trying to survive, but that guy on the silo top would be fair game.
