  1. Someone just shot at me from a distance (I didn't hear a gunshot) and then they stopped (gun is lowered, walking around). It was quite funny. It did not hit me. :)
  2. Yea everyone is welcome. Also, any bandits that shoot at a bunch of lightly armed people on the coast who are trying to play the game as intended should get put on the Darwin list. In a real apocalypse, you'd be so happy to see other people (let alone a settlement) that you wouldn't shoot them unless they presented a threat to you. Instead you'd watch it for a while and decide whether or not to head over there, but no man would open fire on a settlement in a post-apocalyptic world.. NO MAN. Maybe a small army perhaps, but even a sniper wouldn't. What is their to gain besides loss of ammo? I'm also presenting a large number of factors that are wrong with the game idea whilst doing this. Such as the "one man army" factor. How else would someone be able to take advantage of a safe zone if no one broadcasts it?
  3. Currently it's Spector. What is yours?
  4. Then join us and turn the tide. Friendly players are too few and far between, however to have a controlling majority of a server means we CAN win this.
  5. It's me and another guy right now, so far so good. I chose this location as it's near the coast. Chernogorsk has a bad reputation for snipers, so if we get some of our own up and around, being exposed will be a good thing.
  6. Sorry but there was no bug there. The person you killed was a hacker, the hacker obviously transformed the m107 mag into the gun (tricking the server into thinking he obtained it legit) hacked weapons and items only work in the same server as they are created, when you leave that server or abort and rejoin, it removes the item. It's part of the anti-cheat. It's the same for duplicated items. I found a tent with 2 m249 SAWs inside it, took one and switched server and I no longer had it, my character was reverted back about 5 minutes.
  7. I've got no idea what everyone's talking about. I ran six launcher and it installed 1.7.2.3. The game is running as stable as it was in 1.7.1.5 just with longer loading times. Which I thought was part of the update, longer loading times means slower respawning to get back to where you died, I assumed it was a mechanic to stop coastal spawns until you get somewhere good. I've been enjoying the game again since 1.7.2.3 and I've yet to have anything that I would class as a gamebreaker.. Unless you count playing 3rd person.

HOW do you issue a blood transfusion...?

Then, you're a pair of idiots. I look forward to looting your corpses one day.

About you: You are a sorry ass noob who is crying because he keeps dying and can't find any gear.
  11. EW I'm not buying it if it's GFWL. Fuck that shit. Gay.

    Roaming Military

Right now there's no bad side to sprinting down a road in the countryside. There're no zombies to worry about, players are quite rare. What we need is something that will really scare the shit out of you. Something that will make you panic and go prone, whilst also making you think "hey, this is an opportunity." I'd like to suggest that there are roaming soldiers that are bloodied and dirty, equipped with m16s that have limited ammo and czech backpacks containing (randomly spawned amounts of food and ammo per soldier) the guns they are equipped with could even be random, some have pistols whilst others have assault rifles and shotguns (snipers should be VERY rare on these guys.) Basically they walk in single file either side of the road with their guns down, they will shoot anything that moves be it human/infected, this gives players reason to avoid the roads and also adds some sort of persistent human enemy that wanders through the map along the roads. I don't yet have a way to avoid road blocks figured out, but perhaps they'd just use a similar pathing system as the zombies. These guys would have similar visual/auditory as the zombies but they'd be somewhat more alert and have a larger visual range. The soldiers would really just wander from town to town shooting things they see until they're out of ammo at which point they'll probably die - the bodies could be persistent also, encouraging players to follow roads and enter towns (at the cost of meeting a few of the living soldiers) to find their corpses for loot. In this sense they'd be similar to helicopter crash sites, only there would be maybe only one or two that spawn per server restart. This could be an incentive to team up and try to take them out (if the soldiers haven't already been wiped.) If you read this, you deserve some beans.

    Roaming Military

That's my point exactly. A randomly spawned number of randomly equipped soldiers who wander between the smaller towns, just to make entering these towns somewhat more dangerous. We could even mix it up and add in ordinary civillians into the group who are somewhat like slaves and have no weapons but bags with assorted goodies.

    Roaming Military

Well, if you could provide evidence of this that would be great. Otherwise I've no reason to believe you. If there is evidence, then perhaps you misinterpreted what was said. Rocket has a way of misconstruing himself.

    Roaming Military

Yes! This video is what I was thinking of. Obviously the soldiers wouldn't be as well geared up/clean as the bases are overrun, these soldiers are guys who survived by running/hiding. They're covered in blood and dirt, just like the zombies. However unlike this video, I don't think the soldiers should leave the roads, this would make it impossible to avoid them and being shot in the middle of nowhere. It's also good to hear the human AI is this good. As for the difficulty of killing them - I think they'd be soldiers with training, they'd try manoeuvres such as flanking right? Regarding the use of vehicles, I don't think we should make vehicles easier to obtain, even if they are soldiers, the idea is that they're ragged and worn down, these guys retreated when shit hit the fan, they only have their default gear and things they've obtained whilst travelling. Does the current AI also include talking? Maybe idle talk whilst their walking about the zombies etc? As for your similar idea, it sounds very resident evil. I don't think the government would endorse mass killing of uninfected people without the use of a tactical nuclear device. Chernaraus would be nothing but radioactive dust if the Czech government still existed. No, I think that the governments of the world were overrun too quickly, just like in 28 days later. I think it should be ordinary soldiers who are just scared shitless of the infected and have seen the worst of things that can happen. Think about the soldiers in 28 Days Later, they want to rape those women because they haven't got any. Of course things like this would happen. Heavily armed guys like soldiers would probably even become roving gangs of trained bandits. Hence why they should shoot on sight anything that moves. I would like to suggest they take hostages, but it would be a very high expectation.

    Dead players becoming zombies?

I only read half of your post and didn't bother with the sub-posts. The "zombies" in Day Z aren't Zombies at all. They're infected. The difference between zombies and infected- Zombies: Dead, brought back to life by something, rigour mortis (slow movement). Infected: Alive, infected with a virus that is transmittable, not decaying (however they do incur injuries as they wander around and they're getting weaker the long they go without a food source.) THE MAIN DIFFERENCE IS THAT ONE IS DEAD, THE OTHER IS ALIVE. There is absolutely no reason (unless the infection causes it somehow) for Infected to move slowly. Everyone has their own "opinion" on what a zombie is or isn't. But they're not true. George A.Romero is the father of modern shambling zombies. 28 days later first played with the idea of running zombies, instead preferring to call them infected. Rocket himself has said that 28 days later is an inspiration - 28 days later contains no zombies (undead) only Infected (living). Therefore for you to become an infected, you require to be bitten whilst still alive and when you die, you're dead, that's it. For this I believe the humanity system and the current hit whilst bleeding infection are going to be combined in the future to create a true infection system to turn players into infected.

    So it's pretty damn dark

you've got to understand that humans have a form of nightvision, our eyes adapt to the darkness, however they don't do this in the presence of light such as the flashlight, If you want both natural nightvision and a flashlight- consider attempting to loot the military flashlight. You're an idiot for posting this topic at all when it should've been common sense. You. You are one of the general public and thus an idiot who doesn't think before doing.

Question for the "Just play Left 4 Dead" crowd

Because many Day Z players are casual, they come on, die alot and then leave. Apaprently it's fun to contribute to bad first impressions by shooting on sight with sniper rifles along the coast.

    God damn server hoppers

I've provided a video to effectively demonstrate relocation in a firefight situation. Obviously, I threw a hand grenade and smoke so as to get their attention during the surprise exercise. in the video, I'm SPARKY BEANS, as you will see, I didn't shoot anyone, this was a surprise exercise and the goal was not to kill, only to alarm and disorient.

Fun to done in less than 30 minutes...

Stop hiding behind "it's an alpha." as a perfectly acceptable reason for something that worked fine to now suddenly not even be playable. I can't recall any game being in Alpha that was this broken and required 3 days for a hotfix. It's known as a hotfix because it comes out so fast, this is NOT a hotfix that will come out. Yes. In 1.7.1.5 the game worked perfectly. No lag. Zombies were jittery but manageable, you could sneak around them. There wasn't such bad desync that loot doesn't spawn in at least 8/10 of the supposed loot spawns. Bags and Axes are EVERYWHERE as they're the first loot types to spawn apparently and that is all I can ever find. Fuck you. Some of us would like to enjoy what we paid for. And don't give me bullshit like "you bought ArmA2 not Day Z, moron." because from my perspective, ArmA2 can go suck a fat dick, I bought Day Z, as evidenced by Rocket's new managerial project lead position and pay increase. 3 days and counting for a "hotfix", if it went any slower there'd be another ice age. Actually, you'll find quite the opposite. http://i.imgur.com/wfsNK.jpg There was more a few days ago it said "Day Z cannot be played without ArmA2: Combined Operations." The implication in that is that ArmA2 is nothing compared to Day Z.
