So my mission for the past 2 weeks has been to find a Ghillie suit, which is the one thing that has evaded me for so long. And while looting Vybor, which is my new favorite town to loot since it is nowhere near the major cities or coast, and has good lootable buildings. I finally found a Ghillie suit in one of the brick houses! I'm so happy now, but I need a mission to keep me entertained, I welcome suggestions. I'm on my 34th day now, and I'm wondering what can be improved upon, in this life I have looted Elektro once, Cherno twice and the N/W Airfield four times, those are the major places I have gained most of what I have now. And Vybor three times so far since I just love Vybor now. Here is my sexy Ghillie suit which I had an orgasm over when I found it. And this is what my inventory looks like now after my last loot of Vybor where I got my Ghillie suit. I have a tent on one server which has just some meat in it I think, but apart from that I have no tents or vehicles, everything I own is on me. I had a G17 with 11 mags, but while faffing around in my inventory I managed to destroy it and all of the ammo somehow ¬_¬, so I picked up an M1911 in Vybor to put me over, ammo is a lot more plentiful anyways, and I go for headshots so even a Makarov would do. To be honest, I don't really have an incentive to go and get another G17, the M1911 is still a pretty good sidearm for what I use it for. I'm a lone survivor which you can probably tell just by what I carry, and I can just live in the wilderness forever now if I want, but that isn't fun. What should I strive to obtain now that I have my Ghillie suit?, I could try and go for a vehicle, but chances are they are going to be gone and somewhere hidden up north :/, I do want a Bicycle though, I really want a Bicycle actually, that would suit my playstyle very well, but I don't know where to get one. Oh and I want a Cayote backpack. Please suggest improvements.

Finally found a Ghillie suit, & How am I doing?
freak367 replied to freak367's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
I've been before in previous lives, but talking 1+ month ago, I can roughly remember it :/ Only bad thing about it is it's on the coast, and it's seen as safer than Elektro and Cherno / the south of the map, so more and more people have Berezino as their go-to place. Which ups the chances of running into other survivors, who might shoot me in the face. D: Anyways, I found another tent in Vybor and set it up in my secret camp, I'll do a run of Berezino probably tomorrow, going to fill my tent up with tools and supplies from Vybor before going incase I manage to die while there. Hopefully I won't and I can bring back a backpack full of morphine :D, and probably some blood bags even though I'm a lone survivor, I might end up becoming a medic or just grouping up with others. -

Hmmm, I'll head to Berezino then, my only concern is to get there I'll have to cross the entire map, drawing a line through the middle. Seems the server I have my tent on has been offline for 2 days now, so, looks like I'll need to find a new server and a tent :/, not taking all of my gear with me to Berezino. -

Once I set up a camp I may go Heli crash site hunting, I roughly know where to search. It feels like I may have to venture south though for my morphine, I can't rely on Heli crash sites. Although probably the worst place to go, Cherno is pretty much directly south of me, and the quickest way for me to dip down South, get morphine and go right back up North/West without having to go very far East. With the artifacting though, if Cherno is quiet because of that, that could be my opportunity to do it more safely, I heard Elektro is the most popular now, atleast until the artifacting is solved. If this is a good idea, and I do it, I could hit both hospitals and best case scenario I might get 5 - 10 morphine to bring back up. That would be ideal. Just incase though, I'll store my M14 AIM in my tent with other things that I don't need to get the medical supplies, just bring my M1911 and maybe pick up a Winchester or something in Vybor beforehand. I don't want to risk everything I have when going south. Sound good?, or should I completely avoid Cherno. -

freak367 replied to freak367's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
Solid advice, that's probably what I'll do next :), an ATV or Bicycle would be ideal for me. And I really do need to set up a camp, I'm so vulnerable right now if I die. I can get every tool in Vybor and the surrounding towns so I'll start collecting them to store, as soon as I have a backup Axe, Knife and Matches, food/blood is no longer a concern. And a map and compass is essential to how I play. For medical supplies though... where is the safest place to get them?, Bandages and Painkillers are all over, but I want to stock up on Morphine too, I always carry 2 morphine with me, since a single zombie hit can break legs, and just walking through a door can, I am always prepared for that. I had about 11,000 blood at the N/W Airfield on one of my runs and a zombie sprinted into me and broke my legs -_-, I was so glad I had morphine in my backpack, I never go anywhere without it now. The only hospitals I have been to have been in Elektro and Cherno. Magical things. -

That reminds me, I got the M14 AIM at a Heli crash site, but that's all I got from it. Then I stocked up on DMR mags at the N/W Airfield. I was thinking about becoming a medic, but as you mentioned, I would need to set up a base camp so I can stockpile supplies, since being a medic is pretty risky. The one tent I do have which isn't too far from Vybor/N/W Airfield, is very well hidden between a cluster of trees, you need to be within feet of it to see it, and there's only one hotspot to access it, so that's a good start, I could fill that up with supplies and if I find another tent I'll expand on that camp, because if I die now, I'd start fresh with absolutely nothing :/, which would suck so much. Could do, my only murder was at the N/W Airfield. But with the amount of snipers around, it's too open for me to make use of my M14. Thank you :D, good luck to you too, NVGs would be nice to find. Yeah I'm really not a fan of going to the coast :P, spent atleast 30 days away from the coast now, are lighthouses the only place to get a Bicycle? I do want some NVGs, although I tend not to play in the dark, and I know of Mountain Dew, but what does it do other than quench thirst?, if it offers more I'll go hunting for one. -
Hey, got to be quick because I'm still in game now, I recently acquired a tent, and I eventually managed to pitch it somewhere quite hidden, however, after pitching it, no matter which side I go to or where I look on the tent, I can't get any scroll options on it, like it's not even there. Here is a screenshot, have I done something wrong?, is my tent now broken?. :( First time using a tent.
-
Pitched Tent, no scroll options atall?
freak367 replied to freak367's topic in New Player Discussion
Yay, it worked, thank you. Managed to find it in a really awkward spot which I can only reach while prone, about 5 inches squared at the bottom of the tent. Hey, atleast I know if someone finds it, they'll have a damn hard time getting in.:), and it's well hidden. Appreciate the help. -
To the sniper in Elektro on DE 285, I caught you on camera.

So many WASD problems, it's times like this I'm happy I completely customize my controls so I never accidentally hit the wrong key. I don't think I've ever even pressed an alphabetic key in DayZ before. -
Could be a bug I came across a couple of days ago, do you remember seeing your debug monitor before you logged out, and were zombies not aggroing? I came across a bug at the N/W Airfield, possibly a server bug, the debug monitor disappeared and zombies stopped aggroing, which once I found out, allowed me to sprint around and loot, however, when I eventually went somewhere safe and logged out, with new items I had found, including a PDW which I replaced my G17 with. When I logged back in it had all reverted, I had my G17 back and lost everything I looted after the debug monitor disappeared. It wasn't saved, only my character location was saved, so I logged in where I had logged out. Could have been the same thing.

People who run around helping strangers are naive...
freak367 replied to Ozelot (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Sounds like you're vastly underestimating... Well, humans. You've explained it as if I gave someone food, once they have eaten it they will become confused and won't know what a town is or how to loot. :S, people aren't that stupid, if anything, helping others encourages them to go and do well, so they can be in the position of the person that helped them one day. You seem to be talking about people who have the mentality of a dog. I have never met anyone so one dimentional as you have described how you see other survivors. Nobody is going to become bewildered after someone else helps them slightly. Hell, if more people were friendly and helped new people, a lot more would stick around and play more, the average experience of human contact in DayZ is getting shot in the face instantly. Helping others is good, it helps the game, and it helps others become better. -
The one and only solution to making this game more cooperative
freak367 replied to Hetzer_ing's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Sounds like you just want to make it impossible to be a lone survivor... Needs a better solution, where lone survivors and groups can equally enjoy the game. Some people don't want or like human contact, and prefer to be a lone survivor in DayZ, so forcing people to team up in any way is just removing freedom. -
Not at the moment, I had to let that bus go, I exhausted the fuel in Cherno, and, well, I didn't want to spend time anywhere near Cherno xD, so I ran away afterwards.
-
I was at Green Mountain yesterday, it was silent and clear, until I entered the Radio tower, I encountered zombies high up inside of the tower which I had to put down, when I came back down the entire grounds were covered in bodies and I counted roughly 20 zombies approaching from either side of the tower as I was at the door. I hauled ass out of there and just about escaped. Don't go.
-
Hey, I'll join you if you like, I was thinking about creating a sort of bus company with others. I have already taken 2 survivors from Elektro to Cherno in a bus :D It was a random event, but I quite enjoyed it. The only thing I'd like would be a camp somewhere safe, to keep my M14 AIM and other good gear, and just carry a generic AK-74 for self defense or something. And some food, drink and basic medical supplies. Or possibly... also carry blood bags and morphine to be medical bus drivers!, or just to trade.

People shooting unarmed people, why?
freak367 replied to kitta's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Being a massive dick isn't mandatory you know. Just a couple of days ago I took a bus to Elektro for lulz and ended up picking up 2 random armed guys, one who was royally fucked at the time with about 15 zombies chasing him, and I drove them to Cherno to continue their looting, then looked for more survivors to help in Cherno. It was quite fun. And I didn't get killed. Yes, the game is full of dicks, but you don't need to be a sheep and join them, just do your own thing, take risks, that's what makes DayZ fun. -
Vehicles shouldn't be rare. Let the experiment continu.
freak367 replied to daedrick's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Vehicles need to become less rare in general, they are overly rare right now without any reason for it, they aren't THAT gamechanging. Pretty much every server has had groups collecting all of the vehicles and hiding them in the forest, so 90% of survivors never experience them. Up until 2 days ago when I found a stashed bus, anyone watching the 30 days of this life and all previous lives of mine wouldn't know that vehicles were even in DayZ. I don't see what would be so bad about having a bigger supply of vehicles, or having a short-ish respawn on them. And throwing another 30 or so instantly workable vehicles across Chernarus. The downsides of being a massive loud target are still there when in a vehicle, so they would still be risky. It would just be good for more lone survivors to experience them. Also, Bicycles should be considerably more abundant, every town should have 1 or 2 Bicycles, it makes sense, virtually every home has a Bicycle, they should be one of the most common 'vehicles', quiet, but they leave you unprotected and have limited or no storage space. (never seen one so I have no idea if you can store crap in them) -
I never realized how many hackers there were.
freak367 replied to omgwtfbbq (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I only just found a car a couple of days ago, or rather a bus, first time I have seen a working vehicle in the 30 days of this life, and all previous lives. And it was stashed behind some trees in the wilderness. Since that's what happens to all vehicles. Other than that, I found a repairable truck just before finding the bus at its proper spawn location but didn't bother with it. And before that I have never seen a non-working or working vehicle, or seen anyone driving a vehicle. They are rare, groups tend to repair them and stash them away so nobody else can have a vehicle, too rare in my opinion. -
People shooting unarmed people, why?
freak367 replied to kitta's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I very rarely shoot survivors, I either avoid them or attempt communication behind a wall or so. Yesterday however, I did fling my PDW on full auto and rip someones face apart who only had an axe. In strange circumstances mind, a glitch hit when I was at the N/W Airfield where all of the zombies stopped recognizing survivors, so I could sprint around the Airfield looting, I only noticed this about 5 minutes after it happened, up until then I just thought I was doing some epic stealthing. But I found a PDW with 14 G17 mags and a few other things, after looting the buildings at the opposite side of the Airfield I headed back to the Barracks and the door was closed, so I opened it and looked in the first room, and there was a guy crouching with an axe next to a massive pile of loot, I assume he removed it from all of the other rooms for it to respawn o_O. I stood there for about 2 seconds before he started moving towards me with an axe in hand, and I instinctively unloaded on his face. Nothing respawned anyways, so I left. However, I have just logged on there to see if the glitch meant I wouldn't keep my loot, and it turns out I haven't, lost the PDW and the few other things I took, but kept the toolbox :/. And... I now have 1 Murder to my name. Even though the weapon I killed him with apparently never existed. Also, I found a tent prior to seeing the survivior which had a machine gun in it and other supplies, so it could have been his. And I didn't know if he had a sidearm on him or a primary dropped somewhere. It was at the N/W Airfield so I didn't want to take any chances, who goes to the N/W Airfield with just an Axe? -
Depends what gear you have, if you have a decent primary, crawl out and scout the area, stay stealthy, if you see anyone, drop them, but then haul ass back to somewhere safe, a clan member will probably call for backup if killed in camp and you can watch if they do, and also drop them :D If it is clear, then just quickly steal as much goodies as possible, fill up a vehicle with loot and get the hell out of there. If you want to annoy them even more, when you get in a vehicle, drive over all of their tents to flatten them. And if they have any grenades, move your stolen vehicle away a little and grenade their remaining vehicles, tear the place down.

Finding a playable dayz server is like finding a unicorn
freak367 replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I spent about 2 hours earlier trying to get on a working server -_-, every attempt giving me the Loading screen for 30+ seconds which is when I give up and try another. Then the first 2 I succeeded on getting on both didn't know what time GMT was, so GMT-8 which worked out at about 7am at the time, ended up being 1am and pitch black -_-. Same with a GMT-6 server. Then... after a few more attempts I did get on a server, but no matter what I did to my settings I couldn't get more than 10fps which was unplayable, I found that same story on 2 more servers. Then I FINALLY found a working server. And spent about 4 hours on it because I don't know when I'll be able to join another one. I did find out that I can't get on any servers hosted by Vilayer, GamingDeluxe or Alpha-Networks. Just could not connect to any of them, and they host a LOT of servers. Every successful attempt I had was with servers hosted by just a players name in the server name. Was such a pain. -
I was heading back up North after stupidly driving a bus on a suicide mission into Elektro and then Cherno for no apparent reason. And I stumbled upon a Heli crash site which only had a single item on it, an M14 AIM with 3 DMR mags. On me at the time I had an AK-74 with 6 mags, so something I didn't want to give up lightly, but I eventually decided to swap, after mowing down all of the military zombies that decided to keep spawning all around me. ¬_¬ I'd have put the AK-74 and mags in my pack but I have that filled with lots of of cooked meat, drinks and medical supplies since I am a lone survivor, no way I could open up 10+ slots without crippling myself for survival. I don't want to waste the ammo on zombies since I don't have any plans to do a looting run of the N/W Airfield for DMR mags anytime soon which is my local. So I ask your advice if it was a worthy sacrifice of my AK-74?, I only see a primary weapon as something to defend against other players or for really bad situations, I use my G17 for zombies mostly. Opinions?, I'm not sure if I have made a mistake dropping the AK-74 with so much ammo, I took lots of risks getting it, moreso than the M14. Took a couple of screenshots. Also, what is that town behind me?
-
Ahh, good to know I made the right choice, the sight on it looks quite good, I had a look through, certainly better than iron sights which can be a pain at times. I have no plan to use it near any town or city, unless faced with a hostile player. I have my G17 for the majority of situations, which is nice and quiet. Thanks for all of your input :), I look forward and also dread the day I am required to use it, because it will mean I am in a horrible situation of life or death.

I'm thinking it could be a good idea to turn DayZ into an ArmA 3 Expansion, something costing an extra $15 or something, instead of calling it a... mod, it could be something official that Bohemia can market and advertise. And 100% or near of the money made from the Expansion could be given directly to Rocket and his team, as DayZ would undoubtedly with its reputation give ArmA 3 a lot of sales, just as it did for ArmA 2, that got the attention of Bohemia for sure. And made them quite a bit of money. That's probably the easier option, almost like becoming a standalone game within another game, a step up from a mod, and eliminating the costs of getting an engine officially for a fully standalone, just a paid mod really. And with Rocket actually getting money for DayZ through sales, he can bring in people and pay them to dedicate some of their time on different areas of the game to tailor things to DayZ, get mappers to modify ArmA 3 maps etc... I think he had some volunteers come in an do animation for him and such which was awesome, but not everyone is going to offer their time and expertise for free. Standalone would be great, but I'd guess it would come with a lot of startup costs. ArmA 3 in whatever way it is used, offers 99% of the content off the bat, the engine, weapons, vehicles, physics, models etc... Then DayZ can take those and just expand on them, like an expansion :D And if was given the title of an Expansion, with help from Bohemia it would probably have a proper installer, ArmA 3 would be prepared to embrace DayZ, instead of as a mod needing to pretty much plant the game into the game files and do a bunch of crap to get things working, it would be properly recognized and easily installed into the game. It took a lot of faffing around to get DayZ working lets be honest... and to go back to normal ArmA 2 it involves more faffing around to stop DayZ automatically running. Expansion > Mod. Or standalone, but you know, that's a different thing altogether.

So, while up North/West not far from the airfield after a successful loot, I was wandering through the wilderness hunting animals, cooking meat and trying to get somewhere safe. When suddenly I spotted a strange object sticking out from behind a cluster of trees... To my surprise I found a bus, a working bus with fuel, damaged, but it ran!, like a charm I must say. I was surrounded by fields and forests all around so I needed to find a road since going 20mph is rather painful after a while, I navigated my way through a forest and found a road after a few minutes. I decided at this point to head in my original direction, South/West. After belting down the roads at 65 - 75mph enjoying the scenery I decided I would attempt to get to Elektro, roughly knowing where to go and following some road signs. A good 20 - 30 minutes later or so I was there. On my third drive through of Elektro I began my bus adventure. And it was magical. I suggest watching in fullscreen in HD. So... after my magical aventure, I took this final screenshot of my glorious bus. Then I hauled ass out of Cherno. This is what I risked doing this. It was the most fun I've had in a while though, I expected one of those survivors to shoot me in the face and steal my bus, but they were pretty cool. Neither said a word mind, not a thing. I even said hi soon after picking them up and got nothing back, which was slightly worrying. I hope you enjoyed the ride. And you owe me one first guy, I saved your ass. ;)
