This mod is too hard for new players.

If they made it easier for new players, the vets would find it even easier If you as a new player, do better then you'll become a vet and regret it was made easier A new player will have a different experience each time the harder it is, thus more replay value. If you're doing the same mistakes over and over, that's something you'll have to adjust on your own and think of different tactics. First: Make a note of WHERE you spawn the very second you log in. Minimize, find a map online, head to the city. Hit the hospital, get morphine and do one of two things. Take a risk to find a gun and other tools (if you find all 4 knife..matches..hatchet and water bottle get the hell out of the city (preferably with morphine) and find a gun out in the stix. You can survive forever with those items killing wild animals) Or, you can grab the morphine and get out and explore, finding deer stands is your best bet. Staying away from coastal areas also.
  2. If you hit either of the cities first on a fresh character, there's no harm in dying. If you can get a knife, box of matches, hatchet then you'll be fine to get the hell out of there, explore and find some weapons in a much quieter location. Deer stands spawn good loot. If you want to be risky get to the hospital and get some morphine. Take as much morphine as you possibly can. Epi-pens are useless and a waste of slot, unless you play with someone who likes to go unconscious all the time, and blood bags are only good if you have friends. You can't use them on yourself, and getting someone else to do it for you that you don't know is suicide. Anything else isn't required from the city. A bag would be nice, a tent would be nice, but the supermarkets usually picked clean anyway. So, get the above items (morphine first if you can, since this is the highest risk and getting other shit first then losing them would be worse). With the matches you can light a fire, with the axe you can get wood and silent kills, with the knife you gut animals to get meat to cook on your fire. With the morphine if you break your leg you can fix it up. Morphine, as I said, should take priority over anything else, it's so hard to come by outside of the city. Guns you can find anywhere. Remember, buildings which you can see through glass, you can enter, those you can't see through, you can't enter. BIG red ones, medium yellow ones, and 1 of 2 long brown ones (has 3 windows on the end I think). Barns often have a winchester/lee enfield. For a newer player winchester might be better, it's a lot quieter and enfield makes a hella bang. good luck out there. Oh, and likely hood is, if the guy scurried away when you spoke to him, your mic is probably working. DON'T go speaking to people when you have decent loot. Most WILL shoot you.
  3. Aside from jumping on the cool guys bandwagon here and telling you "JuSt DoNt GeT HiT LoLz" it happens, to the best of people. If anyone claims to have never been hit then their lying. You might not have pulled the zombie, someone else might be running a train through, you might bug out and get hit through a wall, you might take risks and go into large infected locations with good loot and suddenly have your character stand up and run for no reason, or volt over a wall and attract a zombie that was hidden away even though you scouted for ages...yeah, there's plenty of reasons for it to happen, and it does But, there's not much you can do about it. Safest thing to do is use an axe. Step forward, swing, step back. Pull a gun out and you'll have more on you. If you have a lot of them then try to find a building, zombies walk slower in them. Preferably a double doored room where you can run through, run out the other side, lose the line of sight and crawl away. Climb a ladder and smack them as they come up Run up a hill diagonally and let them follow you as they walk slow, or you can run up and run down and let them break their necks falling down Run into the tree lines and keep running until you lose them The more you get use to being patient, the faster your game will progress, after all, sprinting in and attracting them all and then dying, would be a lot longer than watching and waiting. Still, you'll never be completely safe and there will be times you'd get hit. Try to keep your blood level high, the higher it is, less likely you are to have bad things happen.
  4. Not much to say, a small rare to find quiver attachable to the tool belt. Can hold 8 or so bolts.
  5. Zombies? Survivors? Bandits? Dumbass's running passed bringing a train of zombies? For me, it's fucking bugs. Bug after bug. Spent about 3 hours getting a ton of decent gear after dying from a retarded bug, only to search the hospital and find no morphine or anything (unable to rearm for some reason) nothing in the store or anywhere else for that matter, but I did scrounge up everything I needed except the morphine and knife (Had matches, map, water bottle, hatchet Tons and tons of side arm ammo, ALICE PACK food and what not) and decided to head out into the wide world prepared once more. after an hours run, I'm thinking I'll check the town for a knife, go in, see a lot of zombies and decided to throw a flare. Swapped back to my side arm, and attracted a zombie after crawling along the road and standing up for no fucking reason?! Zombie is munching on me, I try to pull the trigger, oh look, a 15 second animation of me throwing another flare. Scroll, pull gun out (even though it was out) LMB to select, double tap to aim, pull the trigger and oh look! throwing another fucking flare. Pass out, then die. I love this game, it's amazing, but I am seriously sick of the bugs. I know it's in alpha, I know how alphas go, but seriously! After reading so much shit, it seems these bugs, or at least a lot of them are from Arma. Their ruining it for me tbh. I've very RARELY been killed by another player. Twice I can think of, I'm a bit sick of going into town and gearing up completely thinking this is it! Only to be killed later on by breaking my leg on a pebble, falling off a 1 foot pole and falling unconscious, having zombies eat me through a wall, throwing a fucking flare numerous times with a crap ton long animation (Does it take YOU this long to throw a flare IRL?) Snapping my leg on a twig yet the twig still stands valiantly and proud. I can't stress enough, I KNOW it's Alpha, but this game and mod has been out quite a while, surely these fundamental game breaking bugs should be looked at before anything else? Speed up throwing time of flares Remove being able to break your leg until you can get it to work properly (falling from a 2 story building? Okay, instant death, but a serious height, NOT 2 steps from the barn, not walking over a rock the size of my foot) Fix items getting deleted when there's no space (I lost my ALICE back with 20 items in it picking up a Cezch vest thing (I thought that would have been where the ammo was stored, since Vest =/= backpack) I did manage to get it back by dropping the vest, logging out the server and logging back in and both were on the ground, if that helps anyone) You can scream realism all you want, but atm, if these sort of things killed you IRL I would be dead long ago. Bugs ARE quite literally 90% of my deaths. I'll say it again? Alpha yeah yeah. I do want to mention, I still love this game, but it's starting to tire me out now dying in these ways. If the above bugs were fixed Players couldn't just log out and it was easier to tell who's a good/bad guy This would be the best ->game<- (Not mod! Game!) around.
  6. Sorry' date=' but we have absolutely no interest in DayZ. Neither will there ever be a ACE DayZ nor will we hand out permissions to use ACE features in DayZ. Xeno [/quote'] Lucky then that he doesn't need your permission to do what he wants to his own mod.

Looking to make a small group

Oh great' date=' thanks. I sent you a PM. [hr'] Okay, I sent some of you a PM, but if you're interested, please add a bit more details so I can get an idea of who you are. Location, age, what your interests are (in the game :p) etc

Looking to make a small group

Well I might get time to see a couple tonight (need to do a few things first, will see how I feel) are you guys willing to roll on a fresh character and meet up? Ofc, it doesn't need to be fresh but we'd need to hit the cities and find as much as we can to start our adventure. Seems a lot are interested, however, I'd only like a few as I said, when it becomes too many, I start to get a lack of trust, it's also slightly harder to remember who everyone is.

    What kills you the most?

How are you guys getting killed by players all the time? I must admit, I've not seen the NWAF yet, or...I might have, I do remember going to SOME base, it had a couple of hangers, and a warehouse, and a short walk to a road over a field, where on the other side was a bunch of army tents. Didn't get that much from there though, a nice backpack and an AKS-74u is it, but saw no one, and guess what! Died from a bug there. But I am always exploring, I haven't been to cherno much I always seem to end up in Elecktro when I spawn and do visit then at least once each play through (Haven't lasted long enough to need to go back and refuel as I take enough with me to last until the next bug kills me)

Looking to make a small group

Okay sounds good, I'd like to "interview" some of you first if you don't mind. Sounds serious eh?! I'm just looking for a decent group that would last though. Won't be tonight sorry! I'll get round to adding you soon though. And to the Dane, I also dislike skype but I do think it's possible to have push to talk on it, but not 100% and currently, my TS3 Server went down and had some issues with my retarded host for it. How old are you all, and where from?
  11. Izziee

    What kills you the most?

Which is by far the least for me. And yes, I'm always going off into the city to start with And yes, I always play populated servers Usually veteran ones though, don't know if that makes a difference. I also don't have a set server yet, I just load one up with space and a good ping. Bugs...................................................Zombies....my stupidity...impatience......................................................players.
  12. Your self entitled pro fix is a really silly idea. Others have pointed out why. Building it up with a huge story and really unneeded tit bits then coming out with that? 10 second log out is a much better idea really, people just disconnect in front of you, and it works both ways! It's not always the person shooting and missing disconnecting, it's often the people YOU'RE shooting at, they can't just stop and disconnect in front of you, half the issue gone right there.
  13. Cheers for the advice all. This is really cheap build (compared to what I had in mind), if it's good I might go with something similar. And no, i'm not updating just for the mod. My current PC can barely handle a word document these days and the screen can send you off on an epileptic fit through the way it flickers and flashes (a graphic card problem I assume). It just so happens to be that DayZ is the kick over the edge I need to get a new comp! :exclamation: TBH, I would go with a 550 PSU. 700 MINIMUM. If you ever want to upgrade your GPU, use USB's and overclock then yeah, 550 is pushing it way to fine. Here, use this PSU calculator. http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp

    How do you lose zombies?

Thank you man, that's funny as fuck, must remember that, great tip.
  15. Dude never ever skimp on a new computer. Whats the point of buying yesterdays hardware when you'll only need a new one (thus spend more money) in a year or so? Building your own can get you a 3x faster one than one from say, PC world and 2x faster than a high street dealer pc shop. Also, don't skimp on a PSU. Power supplies are often over looked but if you get one thats just sufficient to run what you're gettign now, then it won't be sufficient if you want to upgrade your GPU.
  16. I walked for miles and found a supermarket in a town somewhere (99% it's not a city, it's like a really really big village) it had a map in there, a G17 (I dropped my ww2 one for it was this wise? or is the ammo hard to find) with quite a lot of loot but I got scared and ran, too many zombies around it but I got into the woods and had a look around with my optics but couldn't see any name. I did see a power station by the store, but I'm unable to find my location on the map. There's like 3 black crossed circles, what are these? If you know of this place, (big village, store, power station and woods past some fields) is it populated? safe? (okay, "safer!") There was a tent set up outside in the carpark, did someone set that up or can I take it? I couldnt see any to pick up and when I selected the tent it gave me the rearm option and save but no pick up. Thanks for any help oh my m1911 only had 2 clips with 2 rounds in it, the G17 had 11 rounds, still unsure I should have left it.
