About 24 hours ago I couldn't get on for 12 or so hours, but then I played a bit and went to bed, played this morning until an hour ago though and it seemed fine, kinda worried now that I wasn't actually playing (or should I say, servers really registering that I was playing) and the stuff I found won't save. Still, not your problem I know.

I did too, I am also worried I've lost my stuff (and I found a chopper crash site, and worried I won't get what I couldn't pick up due to the servers going down). I got my friend to log on to see if it was me (Seemed like people were still playing) and he couldn't, we tried a few servers thinking it was them and I checked the tech support forum. I couldn't find anything (Why would it be there? I was just seeing if others had the same issue) and I checked twitter and there was nothing on there at the time. The thing is, I got linked this thread from my one in the support forum and I'm happy I have an answer. This is from a small team. Had this been Blizzard, a multi-billion? dollar company with huge teams across the globe, you can bet your ass you wouldn't find out about it for hours. CCP (Eve online) are the only real games company who I think take the time to bother with their customers (Had a GM ask me how I was in my first week of playing some years ago) and they interact with the forums. I can safely say I see more posts from these guys here, than I do Blizzard, DICE/EA or any other games giant.

It just pisses me off seeing people whine about something that's free created by your average Joe (Not meaning you're average! but you're not a big games development team). It pisses me off seeing people whine that you're doing it at the wrong time, because apparently you should be getting up at 4am to work on an alpha mod because you're not allowed a life and need to work for free for some whiny spoiled brat you've never met, and it pisses me off seeing people whine because you should be answering every post on the forum while doing the maintenance at the same time with your small man team. I can understand (most) people's frustration, but at the end of the day, they should be helping rather than hindering, or at the very least think before they post acting like the team owes them something. Anyway, seem's I'm doing just that taking up your time here, just trying to be polite in replying, no need for a response.

Im surprised your government even allows you people to play DayZ, what with all the blood and violence. Do you guys have a version that squirts out butterflies instead of blood? Firstly this game has very little actual gore unless you think red paint is scary. Secondly Australia will soon have its R18+ rating, as the law allowing it was passed federally. However ratings are managed on a state level so it still needs to be sorted out there before we actually get the R18+ rating. In the mean time it's important to note the sum total of all games that have been denied a rating or have been edited to meet the MA 15+ rating is about 50. A lot of the ones that didn't make it to our shores weren't very good anyway. (Think Postal). Thirdly, at least Australia doesn't have any states trying to equate games with pornography *cough California *cough. Finally (and on topic), the status of the hive needs to be better communicated. I only saw this topic after seeing a link in a thread about the server being attacked. Going to be ignorant here, but what's the deal with this? I don't know as much about AUS as I'd like, considering I should have been born there but my parents flew back to England to have me, but have you been denied 18 rated games/movies and stuff or what? Yes and no. Normal players are often modders, I've modded way way back in United Offensive day's (The only CoD I liked, was realism rather than arcade), if I had made a mod like this, I wouldn't care about rager number #7364832. You can either be grateful for playing something given to you free, or get out. They don't get paid for this, and I don't quite know the deal with it, I won't pretend to and I'm sure it's opened opportunities for them but if I wasn't getting paid I would do WTF I want with MY mod WHEN I wanted. You should feel privileged to get to play for it. I expect they've received donations, since some terrible youtube people get them for utter crap, and this is far from it, but at the end of the day, why SHOULD they jump hoops for you, me, everyone else whining? However, if they want to progress and even become a game development team creating standalone games, then yeah, maybe they should, but right now, getting a MOD in ALPHA fixed, working and up to date is far more important than catering to whiners. Especially when they claim to not get paid and I expect a small team of them. Since it's Alpha, and since you don't pay for it (Buying Arma means NOTHING, nothing AT ALL) and considering a lot of the bugs are because of Arma, then no one has any right to complain.

I was playing, then found a chopper site, got the little yellow chain link thing, couldn't pick anything up, disconnected now can't get back on. Oh, so it's maintenance then, that's okay but now I'm worried where I'll spawn or if I end up being bugged out since I tried a couple times to connect (Hoping my char didn't half way connect and get attacked or put in the debug forest). When I was in the game I tried to get away from the crash site and went into a supermarket and couldn't pick up loot, I'm scared it froze me around zombies :< Or the maintenance rolls back some stuff :p Still, glad it's not being attacked again. No thank you. I do not server hop for loot or anything like that but the last couple of days I've been jumping servers to try and see if they work! (Haven't actually managed to get on but I get passed the lobby and stuck on loading or char create). Most of the time it's fine, but last night they were DDoS'd and today it was fine until an hour or so ago and I found a chopper spawn, got the little yellow icon, couldn't loot, logged off and now can't get back on, nor can my mate, so looks like they've been attacked again. I don't want to get punished for this crap, I already rarely die from players or zombies, but bugs, I don't want any other bullshit adding to that. Anyway, I've noticed when I spawn in a place, there's never any loot around, yet if I go back to the same place 10 mins later there is, so isn't there already something in place to prevent that.

Adding a list of what I would personally like to see. Obviously my opinion and not everyone's. I've made a couple in separate threads, I'm just whacking them together. Haven't searched, I'm sure some has been suggested before, and I've seen an addiction thread, though it was for morphine and I actually thought of having smack in it a while ago. 1 - Quiver on tool belt. Holds 8 Bolts. 2 - Whiskey (Full bottles). Allows you to numb pain for 5 minutes. If you have a broken leg you can crouch walk but if you are bleeding you bleed faster due to thinner blood. 3 - Automatic light sensor. Only works at night, allows you to station a small light which lights up an area when tripped. 4 - Heroin. Same as morphine and can be found in villages, rare find. Difference is it gives you an addiction, giving the effect of cold turkey/clucking which drops temperature and gives you the shakes. 5 i - Knife able to be wielded as a weapon 5 ii - due to the knife providing multiple uses, a frying pan is needed to cook meat with. 6 - methamphetamine. Found in small villages. Gives a short burst of running speed followed by debuff of exhaustion. 7 - Tripwire. Combined with the sensor light or can be combined with the HE grenades. 8 - Small spade. 3 slot one handed spade. Can be used as a weapon (Blunt, same damage as crowbar) and used to dig a small patch of dirt 9 - Seeds. Allows you to grow vegetables. Takes 3 days to grow. (Used to bring more to a camp site) 10 - Underwear. For those times you've shit yourself.

I'm having real problems playing, last night was fine but today I logged and it's been problem after problem, I waited until a friend came online and he also had the same problems First I died from a bug and all the norway servers I was playing on crashed (think there are 6) some of them came back up again and when I logged on I was still alive, but dying from blood lost. I tried creating a new char and got stuck on loading screen. I restarted my computer (cos the six launcher keeps shutting off my net) and managed to join another norway server which I played on for a bit, found some stuff to head off up to my camp and the server died. I went onto another server and again started having issues. When I finally got on, I had none of the stuff I picked up. I continued to play and I found some items but was unable to pick them up, nothing would pick up. I asked in chat in the lobby, no one really answered and I spent all day trying different tactics, installed dll files for battleeye, tried the verify thing for steam, and none worked. Ocassionally I could get on a server, but it was laggy or just slow. My friend came on and he started getting the same problems. When I found people talking in the lobby they were all having issues, someone said something about a DDoS, but I havent seen any official source, is it true? or is it my game not working? Please help, I'm getting frustrated trying to play :p

As said, JUST TURN OFF THE SIX LAUNCHER! Had the same issue, turned it off, fixed it.

There are two things a new player needs to know and that's it. Patience and common sense, they don't need to watch a youtube channel for this.

I am constantly reading on this forum how the game is too hard for new players, or players in general. This isn't true AT ALL. The game isn't hard at all, it requires situational awareness, it doesn't even require much intelligence (Having knowledge on the guns is nice, but there's wiki. Being able to remember what buildings you can and can't enter can happen in time, and being able to use a map should have been taught in early school). It does require Common sense, probably more so than anything else. You can survival with big hairy balls, or being a coward, or just using your brain. Killing on sight gets you loot, hiding around a corner keeps you alive, studying a player as you're unobserved and taking a decision could keep you alive and give you loot. The thing is, this game is getting big fast, I am worried that you (Rocket) will fall victim to the mass of whiners and casuals like other game developers. I'm begging you, don't! The actual "intended" mechanics are fine, perhaps the current mechanics could use tweaks (I don't want you removing being able to break your leg, but I'd be happy it was temporarily removed until it stopped breaking on a twig or door closing on your etc) but really the only thing wrong with this game is the bugs (and it's alpha). People who bought ARMA just for DAYZ can't complain that they paid money for it, because DAYZ is free. I want to make it clear, I do not speak for everyone, but I speak for me, but I've found a game I can honestly say I love, each life is a different experience, and I really don't want this ruined like so many games have because of casuals or people who are unable to just use their head. Impatience kills people, stupidity kills people, lack of experience kills people, and those who learn from their experience survive, they shouldn't be punished by someone who's too impatient to get that experience and once they do, they will only whine about something else. Keeping things rare also keeps the game playable! I love how few vehicles are around and it's such an excitement when you find one. Keep your vision of the game and don't cave in to whiners! It's a great mod and maybe not for everyone, but I believe you to have loyal fans and respect this mod for what it is. Once it's bug free, this would be one of the better games I've played and hands down the best mod ever created. All in all, I just want to say thank you for this awesome mod. I don't usually brown nose but this deserves it, I'm just worried that the influx of new players will destroy the game.

Didn't say it was hard, that was my point. Also, that's not really hard either, camping snipers you can deal with with a lot of patience and observing the area, unless ofc their in random location where there's no loot so that's just pretty unlucky. Hackers well, they get banned and yeah, something that sucks, especially in a perma death game but all games have them and you can't really have control over them.

I'm looking for some equal minded people to share the experience of DayZ. I've often lead both clans and guilds before from a young age up until now, but never in a game like this. The goal is primarily to, you guessed it, have fun. Nothing against bandits, but I'm not looking for people who only play to primarily ruin someone else's experience, that to me say's a lot about the person. However, I also have nothing against people murdering, but the difference between the two is one doesn't set out just for this reason. Killing someone because you don't trust them, paranoid, want their stuff, because you felt like it at that point in time is fine, hell, I'd even like to do raids killing anyone who get's in the way, but that's just it...their in the way, or, purposely hunting bandits. However, seeing a poor defenceless guy running along the coast? No point in it. If they have no clear means of doing you any harm, then I don't want to group with the type of person who out right slaughters them, just 'cause. I also don't want to pick up stragglers, no matter how much they seem trust worthy. If they persist in asking to join, then by all means, shoot them in their face. I want 3 or so people. Preferably who knows how to work together and share loot. I want people to also use tactical analysis rather than run in guns blazing. Patience is a must. Example, see a store? 2 go in, 2 watch their backs. The front 2 cover the latter 2 as we leapfrog towards the store. Once in, people need to watch as we loot and then split it up once in a safe location. Primarily the goal is to set up a camp way out in the wasteland far from any city's and hot spots. Also after SOLO people, NOT friends. We met up as strangers and build trust up from there. I'd like for mature people, but who can also have a laugh. I'm in my thirties and in Europe. American's are free to join but you'd need to play mostly on an EU server. Women are free to join and keep the guys in check but you must cook, we will build you a kitchen. Younger guys can join, but don't have a squeaky voice. Older guys can join but we don't want your war stories round the campfire. Don't want greedy people, reckless people, stupid people or anyone who thinks their high up on their pedestal. Do not want whiners either, you die? Get over it. English is a must, voice is strongly preferred. I was only joking about the women, I don't think there's actually means to build a kitchen in the game, and you're more than welcome to join but remember, the world doesn't revolve around you and you'll be playing a game, not attention seeking, In other words, no special treatment - To anyone. I haven't forgotten this thread guys! Sorry for the delay I've been really busy but I would still love to do this with some of you. Had a bit going on the last couple of days and I'd like to make sure I got the full time to play so I don't have to log out and leave you guys and stop the game right there or whatever.

Yes but only on individual realms. That would also stop people disconnecting, joining another, moving, reconnecting and popping you.

I have to agree, I haven't done it yet but everytime I log out I think fuck! Did I just click respawn? I'm waiting for it to happen Just waiting.
