This. Arma even has built in function for this, it is called BIS_fnc_findSafePos. 30 meters radius should be enough IMO. Combined with logout delay of merely 5 seconds it will fix the game. -
I don't think that something was changed regarding their spawn rate, it is just luck. Sometimes I find 2-3 crashed helis per day, my record is 5. Sometimes I go for a week without finding a single one. Regarding some guys knowing where crash sites are - I think it is possible, as some server admins are quite corrupted. Server restart right after killing at a crash site is not uncommon, happened at least twice to me and both times after the restart I had no gear I picked up right before. Don't have any direct evidence of admin cheating though.

This is how I did it, except there is no need to copy or replace any files if your shortcuts are set up properly. No files should be replaced, by doing it you're ruining your normal Arma2OA. If you use Six Updater it will update your game to 95054 now.

I've seen a server that required it so I updated and played on that server just fine. Now I'm getting 'waiting for host' on every other server, going to roll back.

That explains a lot. I've seen few strangely behaving animals on the NWAF yesterday, suspected they were players but had no proof. Should have shot them as I wanted to. -

Same happened to me just now. Wore ghillie since 1.7.2.3 hit servers, now it disappeared. -

You didn't pay a dime for DayZ. You paid for Arma2. Instead of whining about how the game should change maybe you should change yourself, or go find a game that will suit you more, nobody forcing you to play DayZ if you don't like it. -
The vast majority will be dead. Most of those who'll live will be a tough fighters or ones who already live in their personal apocalypse today. Trusting and good will be wiped out first. Those who left will know better to not just partner with strangers. Such partnership only can happen when either they know each other from before or confrontation would mean mutual destruction. But unfortunately the latter wouldn't work in DayZ because nobody cares for dying that much, it is just a game after all.

Look what happens in the real life right now. People cheat, scam, they lie, they murder, they start wars, brainwash people and do countless other bad things to each other. Most do it for money, some just for fun or because they don't know another way to live. It all happens while there is still the system exists to punish for those things. Do you really think that in case of apocalypse when the system is gone everyone would suddenly develop mentality of a little kitty?

It was suggested few times before but I think you are the only one who bothered to make a screenshots. I fully support this, don't quite understand why only PMC operators survived the apocalypse. Also, PMC skin has one massive disadvantage - it looks different for everyone. For example, I may be thinking that I am wearing white shirt and jeans but my friend may see me wearing black shirt and black pants.

Do you really think that your stuff should be impossible to steal? If so, then turrets must be unbeatable, which is something I am strongly against. But in every other way this base would be just an enormous sign with "FREE STUFF" written all over it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not just bashing your idea, I would love to have player bases. But for now I have no idea how they should be implemented and your idea unfortunately would not work as intended, despite all the great work you did on the design document, unless defenses are impenetrable which is no way to go also. -

I would love to see this implemented, but... What one man built, an other can destroy. Unmanned defense system wouldn't stand a chance against players unless it is made ridiculously superpowered. Safe = hidden in this game, not that I like it but it is true. Not to mention ways to exploit this. I'd like to see both approaches possible, a hidden base or well defended one. But I'm afraid this is just not possible without breaking the game and making it something else (reinforce timers etc.) -
Am I the only one who ever noticed that when you look at a distant field with someone walking on it you see that they're about knee deep in the ground if there is a grass texture on it. When they crawl they are almost completely hidden. I believe this is implemented to compensate lack of visible grass in the distance.

Care to elaborate? In my opinion it may be not great but still better than what we have now. -
I was going to make the same thread but fortunately used search before. What I have to add is that VSS Vintorez is a weapon with prominent aura surrounding it among gaming crowd, at least here in Russia. It is well known and often considered to be a weapon of the best special units out there, elite weapon. Make it extremely rare, even small chance to wield it would add a lot to player experience, at least for some of us. I myself would irrationally prefer it over M107 any day, even though I fully realize that M107 is much better weapon for my play style. As for it being a suppressed sniper rifle "like we don't already have an issue with snipers" - as some might say, well, it is not that precise beyond 200 meters nor very powerful with it's subsonic ammunition, wouldn't pose a threat to game balance.

I think it is a great idea. It doesn't have implications that most other ideas in this field have. It wouldn't inform you about presence of other players because you would always spawn outside of an area of interest, regardless of other player presence. As for the spawning inside of a tree problem, there can be pre-defined spawn points, hundreds of them around every area of interest. I imagine it wouldn't be too hard for devs to define those points, just program in a key that saves your coordinates in suitable format, then run around a city spamming the key. Would still take some effort to create points for every area of interest though. -
Deny saving tents/vehicles outside of map.
