Hmmph... I can't disagree with that. Well for starters' date=' it fractures the community into groups, while the purpose of this whole experiment is to explore a singular group dynamic. Rocket WANTS a PVP dynamic present in the final game. But how the hell is he supposed to evaluate the effects of new gameplay mechanics and even more subtle game play tweaks if all the PVPers are on one set of servers and all the PVEers are on another? As far as an alpha test goes it does not support the stated goal. If he is going to be able to fine tune the interactions between PVP and PVE he needs both groups playing in the same space. Any other options will only make things more difficult (if not impossible) to evaluate. It would be like developing and balancing two seperate games at the same time, when all he really desires is one game comprised of both. Furthermore (as already mentioned) if you are going to have this split you have to PERMANANTLY keep both sides seperate. [/quote'] After reading a few pages before interjecting, I read your comment and you pretty much sum up exactly what I was going to say, Very nice post. Though I have noticed a little fragmentation already, for example, due to servers being able to wind the clock back or forward with a restart. I'm not complaining as such and can completely understand that most people want to play in the daytime, however, I personally enjoy night play alot and am currently hard pressed to find a night server with a decent ping to my location and when I do they are never more than 1/3 full. Seems like night play is getting shunned by the player base, such a shame as I personally find it alot more tense and suspenseful. I'm personally fine with using flashlights, flares and chems, just a shame to see so many night servers deserted lately. Anyway back on topic, to the chap who says he should be able to password his own server etc because he paid for it, you have the wrong attitude mate, id get long-winded about it but people have already covered what your motivations should be, should you choose to host Day Z. Simply put, your not entitled to special treatment because you host but don't take that as a slap in the face, most people will be grateful should you continue to host the game, just play by the rules please, they're there with good reason. :)

I'm not going to argue that there should be no bandits, but it sure would be nice to have people actually *playing* as bandits -- in other words, killing you for your gear -- instead of all the COD jerks who shoot you with an M4 when you have nothing but a flashlight, then laugh at what a "noob" you are. Whether you love or hate PK, the issue simply isn't up for debate (technically, ironically, it is in this thread). The rules were very clearly laid out for the server hosts when this mod went world wide. Either they respect or abide by the rules or discontinue hosting.

He wasn't accusing you of playing on the server, he was addressing the fact you didn't seem to realise. That its not simply a matter of avoiding the server but upholding a general principle, one which was put forward by the guy who created the mod to begin with, its not the server hosts "game" to do so as he wishes, this is Rockets baby, he had a vision for the mod, all Zed is saying is, in essence, "respect it".

I find it the opposite lately tbh, I seek night servers but 90% of them within a decent ping are set to day time, clearly some people are scared of the dark :)

The Day Z staff should consider having http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=1429 translated to other languages, it seems alot of new server hosts are bypassing the terms + conditions/guidelines and other helpful host related threads completely, either due to ignorance or a language barrier.

I have a feeling Rocket will add this to the "reasons for a ban" list fairly soon, especially if he is unable to personally fix the disconnect timer issue. I would be very surprised if a server got blacklisted for banning a member for this so long as they have ironclad evidence to back it up. Afterall, All these guys are trying to do is play the game as intended and not use exploits.

Well I would give it a week or so, perhaps the Devs are investigating, if we don't get an official reply by then, well, then we have their stance on admin abuse I guess :-/. Hope for the best!

Why would the lakes be dirty? The map isn't exactly California with smog and pollution everywhere. I'm pretty sure I didn't see any sewage pipes going into the lakes, The Chernarus landscape seems pretty untainted tbh, just a few small towns, most of it is untouched natural habitat and farmland etc before the outbreak I would imagine the overall population was rather small in the first place and unlike say, an African village they probably had efficient ways of dealing with sewage, waste and water treatment, so I'm not sure why you think the water would be contaminated int the first place. P.S Also aren't the canteens made from plastic? I'm pretty sure they would melt on a fire ><

Its a shame you exploited this bug to ruin other peoples day, since they clearly had no chance to defend themselves. I get the feeling your telling the truth about spawned that way but next time do the honorable thing and hit the Respawn :D EDIT: I notice at the bottom of the screen you had named the folder "Documenting a hack server..." what make you think the server was hacked, are you claiming the hacker caused your invisibility? If so, why didn't you mention this in your post, its highly relevant to this thread.
