  1. (I tried using the search before on this particular idea, didn't really find anything, so eh.) Alright. So I've thought of a possible idea for self defense. I'll give an example. Say some guy comes around the corner, and shoots at you. You have the ability to kill him, but it would count as a murder. You would have to let him hit you for it to count otherwise, and if he can get the first shot on you, you'll most likely die as a result. Now, what if we had something similar to the suppression mechanic in Battlefield 3? You have this small invisible bubble around your character. (perhaps a more, "in your direction" type thing.) Say someone fires at you. When bullets breach the bubble, they've technically taken the first shot against you, regardless of whether or not the bullet hit you directly, and as a result, if you kill them within a specific amount of time, starting from the time the bubble was breached, it counts as self-defense. As Alexander stated, this is "intended as a mechanic to determine when self defence has occurred." Now obviously, this has more correlation to the used to be bandit skin, and any future humanity changes. Regardless, what are you guys' opinions on this?
  2. This seems like a good idea. Limits the amount of players running around with Goggles and "ICU" sights at one time. Also makes you prioritize usage. Definite +1.

    More Zombies, Less Bandits!

Oooh, I like this idea. Actually make them somewhat difficult to deal with. I mean after all, they don't really need their organs, do they? It's the grey that matters. :P

    disarm player while unconscious

When you knock them unconscious, can't you just loot their backpack and take their weapons that way?

    Incapacitation.

I was thinking. Instead of stooping to the level that everyone else does, instead of just killing people I see on sight, why not incapacitate them? Take a few shots and knock the person out. Take what I need from them, bandage them, and get on my merry way. Is this a viable tactic? If I do it with a friend he could cover me while I check the person out. And if so, how many shots does it usually take to knock someone out without killing them? Say... with an M1911? :D

    Incapacitation.

Well, it's better than being a murdering psychopath, right? :P

    Video Options

Apparently, HDR effects bloom, which makes a big difference during night, like Donovan stated. Allows you to make details out easier instead of everything being a black blob contrasted against the sky.

    Incapacitation.

Just checked all the results pertaining to this topic' date=' they're either suggestions for non-lethal weapons (which is not what this is), or talking about it in general. Well yeah. Part of the fun about this game is dying, and having to loot to get it all back. When you alt - F4 to keep from dying, you're not only a coward who can't handle losing his gear, but you don't know what kind of game DayZ is. Now it's becoming so common it's scary. I so gotta try that sometime. :P

    Military weapons are useless

Like they've said, a lot of the military weapons are purely for Tacti-cool's sake. Some can be really useful, and are worth the risk of searching the barrack's for em. But I've noticed something. Those that go after the high tier gear, end up dying quicker than if they were using winchesters and whatnot. Makes you think. :P

    Well, it's about that time

Yeah, Rocket said he's going to try and release a solution to server hoppers and death disconnectors in 7.2. When that will be is anyone's guess. :P

    Learnt a valuable lesson..

ONLY make agreements on YOUR terms. There is no reason to be a dick. Just don't allow them to be a dick either. It's possible to play this game without shooting every person you see. You just need to try.

    Remove barbed wire

I definitely agree with this. The way barbed wire is used is not for base building, it's to block off loot points to annoy others and grief areas. Whether or not they make the changes you listed or they remove it completely does not matter to me. As long as something is done. This is getting pathetic. +1.

    New ammunition and magazine idea

I very much like this idea. Would allow ammo to some of the rarer guns. Makes reloading easy, and keeping track of ammo painless. Would be handy to find out how many rounds are in an ammo box though. +1.

    humvee crashes

Makes sense. Something to look out for other than crashed helis.

    AI Military recon patrols

This doesn't sound like a bad idea. Something to kill other than players and zombies. :P Might even be a challenge. But like you pointed it, there might be complications involved. Either way, +1 on this.

Removal of 3rd person view exploit

Sounds like elitism. You can't assume that because we defend third person, that we use it to exploit. Didn't your mom tell you not to judge a book by it's cover?

Removal of 3rd person view exploit

Using an exploit to get the loot no matter the type of exploit you use is wrong. If they put third person into the game to use' date=' I'm pretty sure they were full well what you could do with it. There's a reason you can drag the camera in 3rd person. This is a TACTICAL shooter. You need to try and out think your opponent. [/quote'] So your saying looking through walls was intended ? You have to keep in mind that DayZ is in Alpha. There are problems present. There are side effects to putting in 3rd person, but this does not justify removing it or blocking it for people. Let's just both agree to disagree, since we consider each other's points invalid.

Removal of 3rd person view exploit

If they put third person into the game to use, I'm pretty sure they were fully aware what you could do with it. There's a reason you can drag the camera in 3rd person. This is a TACTICAL shooter. You need to try and out think your opponent. Using the camera to look past a wall and see what loot is present is not an exploit. It's just convenience. Saves you some time instead of going in the front door.

Removal of 3rd person view exploit

The options can be overwritten in the missions code. So yes the devs could force one type of difficulty. I know I have done it myself in missions :) Ah, but I did. You're overcomplicating things. Forcing people to stick to one type of difficulty or stick with 3rd person on/off doesn't make sense. I don't see why you're trying to restrict options. We should be adding them.

Removal of 3rd person view exploit

Not everyone agrees with your opinion. I myself like third person. I don't abuse the "exploit" though. If you do not like it, you can go to veteran or hardcore servers. Even some regulars have it disabled.

    Anomalies in the forest

@Redshift That made my day. Thank god for memes. :P The moment I read the title I was thinking STALKER. But I agree with Cookie, it doesn't fit the atmosphere of the game.
