Version compatable with ArmA II Free?

The editor alone is worth the price. Not to mention all the other mods, and DLC, and now with DayZ you can't go wrong. If money is the issue then it's priority setting time. Only thing is, if you are use to playing the CoD style games there is a learning curve with the player movement that has turned all but one of my ex BF2 clan members away. It can be frustrating trying to do things that were so simple with other types of games. example: That building placement put the front step to the door just too high to clear on a normal stance, so you have to use hurdle to enter, and then it may take you several attempts to enter a building that should be simple to enter. Other games you would just use jump. Or you are running for your life, and get hung up on a curb that is short enough you should be able to step right over, but high enough to stop your progress long enough to be eaten by zeds. Or you're running for the ladder, but can't get the selection to climb it to come up, plus you have to wait for the animation to finish before you can climb. Other games you would only need to approach the ladder, jump and start climbing. Somethings you will just have to get use to until the mod becomes a stand alone game. The good news is all players have to deal with the same issues, and they are not that hard to work around. Except for that one building I can't seem to enter because the step is too high. I know there's some good loot in there too.:)

    Game needs Standalone

They did mention DayZ will probably be ported to Arma3 while being developed as a stand alone. But not in the same interview. I sure hope you don't think the right game system is a console.
  3. At first I almost died of hunger. Couldn't find any food, knife to gut, or matches to cook with. Don't know if that's because everything had already been looted, or the server just didn't have much stuff on it. I have scavenged for hours and found only one source of food. Maybe you need to join more populated servers where the food source is more scarce. I don't think I have ever been to one single city and looted 8 cans of anything. Except soda which seems to spawn on occasion in quantity. Not sure how the mechanic is set up, but hunger will always be an issue, maybe just not for you at the moment. I couldn't believe how much the character has to eat in one day to not get hungry. In real life I'd way 1000lbs by now eating at the rate I have to eat in the game.

DayZ map expansion. go big and go home

Another map that you can only get to if you acquire a boat, and enough supplies to get you there. Just an idea. Somewhere along the voyage you exit and load into the new map. Or a map with several islands that you can only get to if you have the means.

(X was killed by Y (friendly fire))

Three times in a row in 5 mins... Impressive humanity and social skills you have there. Just means your are a knuckledragger.

    1.7.2 camo clothing BUG

I think that's because they are not in the new update. If you had them in your inventory they probably disappeared as soon as you put them on along with all your stuff. If you had them on then logged in to the new version you probably lost everything and are naked.

    Updated - Spawned Naked

Game... don't you mean alpha mod. You got to expect these little bumps, or big bumps. I think I'm staying away from the current release for the moment. Don't want to loose 4 days of looting, if I don't have to. Rocket did take out the camo and guile. If you wore them you were a bandit. Hard to use them as a nice guy until I figured that one out. That would be something Rocket probably thought about.... Start the survivor off completely naked on the beach. LOL.

    1.7.2. screwed my Arma 2

Those having problems with the Arma2 game after the new DayZ patch. Did you disable DayZ before trying to play the original Arma2. Did you run the game using the DayZ shortcut or run the Arma2CObeta shortcut? It should work using the Arma2CObeta shortcut that doesn't load the mod. I had this problem with another mod. The game worked again after disabling it. Tends to happen with buggy mods. Something happened with this update apparently..... They'll get'er fixed. If you installed the mod manually you might have erroneously put files where they shouldn't be.
  9. If they put a generator outside to power it. A lamp as loot. Sounds like a good idea. But what's going to keep the snipers from sitting across from it waiting. The lighthouse user should have the ability to aim the light. Now we're talking. Cool an interview with Rocket I don't think I read... more stuff.... Watching it now.... Yeah! Stand-alone...... Awesome.
  10. Hmm.... If it could be done, and if it was, when a survivor changes to a bandit they change sides. Not sure how it's set up now, but I think they remain on both sides. You then could have zombies who just attack bandits. They are not using AI for the zeds, but the animal script to run the zombies with the zombie model. In order to do this would require these zombies to be AI. Or so I think. They might be able to test it, to see how much of an effect it has on performance. One AI zombie for every bandit, that spawns somewhere close to the bandit after the bandit remains in a certain sized area for more than a certain length of time. Or just have them spawn like they do when players enter an area now. Just have them spawn in the areas most typical for sniper activity. A normal zed doesn't know the difference between bandits and survivors, the sniper zed would, and could only spawn and attack bandits. Ahh... forgot about this one. Rocket mentioned in an interview that he was working on a pet dog that could be acquired. Maybe the dog can be used to hunt down and uncover the snipers.
  11. I don't know if the latest beta 94444 I installed solved the problem, or what. Last night on a veteran DayZ server the night was just fine and realistic. Very dark, but not pitch black in the forest. The moon was bright, leaving shadows. The reflections had the correct tint from the moonlight, it was very nice looking, and the atmosphere was perfect. You could still have situations where you needed the flashlight to see. Previously before the patch even if the moon was out it was as if all the time you had just stepped out from a very bright room into darkness, almost as if your eyes never adjusted properly. My HDR problem seems to be rectified also. I'll have to check the varying darkness levels in the editor to make sure there's not some drastic change in contrast at some point where the pitch blackness problem arises, otherwise it looks fine now. I played on this server before it had updated to the latest beta, and it was pitch black before that.
  12. Probably bad karma. Ill gotten loot. Think that's part of the mod now, to go along with the humanity stats. Something they sneaked in the last update. They forgot the Karma Icon though. Of course I'm just joking.... but not a bad idea. This sounds like a not so nice glitch. I'll remember If I ever find a tent before being shot to set it up on flat ground. Guess some of us have never been camping before. Who puts their tent on an inclined plane anyway? Sounds funny though. The bus someone left parked above our tents on the hill rolled down and crushed everything....... Who forgot the parking brake?

    Day Z problems

Try launching the game from the beta shortcut. If you didn't install the Arma2 OA beta you need ot.
  14. What ever the mod did to the nights also now occurs in the regular game. Contrast between shadow and light is way too much. At night with the NV goggles you can see street lights that are pitch black without the NV goggles, standing under the light you can barely see it at all. You can see headlights pan across a fence as the vehicle is turning, but pitch black without the NV goggles. If you honestly think this is realistic you need a head check. Any thing to do with night time in this game Dayz or not is now unplayable.
  15. There is no objective. This mod is an psych experiment determining whether or not the human race is worthy of existing. From the OPs perspective it isn't. Therefore he has his objective.
  16. I've run into a more serious problem that has now caused me to quit until it is fixed. The glitch deaths. Tired of finally getting to a point in the game only to die from some stupid glitch.
  17. I'm not sure but I think I've read somewhere else that you have to use the vehicles and tents inventory slots. If you did my mistake.

    Let Players "Synchronize" GPS

This is based on realism, and that doesn't exist. That would make it easier than it should be. And it is better to learn than have something handed to you. Like using your watch and a shadow for direction. Or using the stars. That's what I love about this game. In expert mode with no 3rd person, no crosshair, the immersion is complete. I get the feeling a lot of players are too used to the console type games and have never really gotten their hands on a game like this.
  19. Funny.... Yes let's make it real easy for PvP players who seem to care nothing about humanity prey upon the newly hatched players on the coast. But I do get the idea, the main problem is the inhumanity of most of the players. It is a probability that players who play this way also play that way in real life, and should be extinguished from the planet to avoid the victims they'll leave in their wake, or are we just too politically correct to protect the victims, or do we just love seeing others suffer? I think I got my first murder yesterday after helping someone who was without a weapon fend off a zed attack, twice. Gave them a bandage. Then saw them stalking me later. I mentioned to the guy, "hey I see you found a weapon." He looked up to see me on the catwalk and replied "you'r lucky I didn't find an AK... pow... pow... pow." as he point and swung his axe my way. Little bastard....inhuman piece of crap.... I just found a crossbow and had a bolt... Needless to say I put a quick end to his crap.
  20. Performance will very depending on server, and quantity of players on the server, and pings of players on that server. A lot a different things will affect it, but that's normal.

    Weapon Flashlights

The flashlight is mostly a joke. Very unrealistic, and with the unrealistic pitch blackness of night, I can see why the server I play on when It's dark the server is empty. Having to turn up all the brightess settings just to see some contrast between shadows is a bad choice for a realistic survival sim. The night should be more realistic, and I have never seen a flashlight that lights up as this one does, It will light up eveything in its beam, no matter what the distance is. Should be more like the game Stalker as far as how the flashlights work and how dark it gets. They need to work on these before it goes gold. These 2 issues will cause a lot of people to blow the game off completely. Not to mention all the inventory glitches were you loose stuff. I'm sure these guys will get it together and it will work well. I hope. I've noticed that if you have just finished messing with you inventory and hit the "L" key you'll have to move a little to get the light to aim where you will see it. Or if you do not have your arm out in front it will appear that you light is not working. It should also turn with your head, but that probably will not be doable.
  22. I have lost so much stuff due to the bugs in the inventory system it aint funny. Found a compound bow that you can not put on your belt so you have to store it in a pack, but it seems to disappear about 90% of the time along with everything in the pack, and always all the pistol ammo that is not even in the pack. Sometimes it just drops to the floor. Sometimes it apparently drops through the floor, where you can see it inside the floor if you can get your head to clip in just enough to grab it again. Very annoying. Seems like the character dumps his pack when ever he actually takes are moves something to it. Also had happened what happened to you. All I can say.... it's a beta, and your stuff is gone, until you find it again.

    Problems with running and leaning

Can't lean so I don't want to play? Good excuse. I have found that you can only lean when using a weapon or flashlight. So if I have no weapon to hold I always have my flashlight in hand so I can lean. I guess they figured when they wrote the code for Arma that no one would ever not have a weapon.
