    Day Z Urban Legends

And that is how you do a horror story. Beans to you friend, I don't think I can camp by that lake anymore. I wonder if maybe rocket will add some of the odder rumors into the standalone?

I know that now. you can get off your soapbox. I found a building with two dews in it later, so pretend that I got it from there if it makes you happy.

    Day Z Urban Legends

Two Stories, just happened today: This was my first time ever playing a Namalsk server, and while I had heard the legends about the bloodsuckers, but I figured that they were nothing major. Something I might hear stories about, but I would never have to worry about it. Well, while trying to make my way to Object A2 I discovered a railroad track. While investigating where it went I heard a faint roar and decided it might be best to just get on my way. I got up, looked around, and realized there was a bloodsucker right next to me. After a short fight I ran sprinting along the railroad tracks being followed by roars and periodic appearances of the Bloodsucker. Eventually, I managed to get away from it and continued on my way down the track. After a few minutes of running, I got to the end of the track, a closed of train tunnel. Just as I walked up to the planks blocking it off an EVR touched off, I panicked, and began sprinting towards shelter, but died anyway. From now on I always avoid that area, even if it was just a coincidence. My second story has to do with the legend of the dew. When you spawn in Namalsk you always have one, but I, being paranoid, refused to drink it or remove it from my inventory. While in the bunker at Object A2, I realized I had had nothing to drink, and my character was likely not going to make it back to the heli if I didn't have something to drink, but the only thing I had was the dew. I finally settled on drinking it, figuring bad luck was better than death, and managed to get out of the bunker alive. After raiding the bunker, my buddy and I decided to set up a permenant base on Namalsk. While investigating sites for the base an EVR began. I panicked and leapt out of the helicopter, and my parachute didn't deploy. I crashed hard against the ground, and then the EVR discharged in full and I died. With all the gear I had gotten and a G17 and Silended G36. The worst part? My friend flying the chopper was still alive, I hadn't needed to panic.

Can you play dayz alone - For long??

Right now I can't find my mic, and I'm too lazy to buy another one, so I've been playing solo. It's pretty good for training yourself in sneaking ability, as if you get caught you are dead. It's also a good way to "gear up" before going to other, more populated, servers. Mostly due to the reduction in chance that some random twat will headshot you for no particular reason. It also has some big disadvantages. Namely, no one to talk to. Considering the good chance that I may go insane if I don't talk to anyone for too long in game, I invented Fred the pacifist zombie, who I talk to in the close-by chat when I get bored of bean hunting. He is quiet, has contempt for his fellow zeds, and likes rugby. There is also the problem of reconstructing vehicles. Normally you could have one person carry the tire or petrol and the other people armed with shotguns and guard them on the way back to the car, but with solo you have to either not use vehicles, or just be very sneaky and hope you don't aggro any zeds.

    Day Z Urban Legends

Damn, I am actually getting a little freaked out reading all these. My story comes from a while ago. I was slowly making my way up the west side of the map, carefully keeping an eye out for deer stands and anything else I could find loot in. As it started to get closer and closer to sunset I decided to cheat and check an internet map for my location. Finally finding where I was, I realized I was only just about 300 metres away from a small deer stand, so I made my way towards it. It had started to get really dark by the time I managed to get there, so I pulled out the night vision goggles I had managed to find at Green Mountain during a little detour. After surveying the area around the deer stand, I realized there were only three zeds, so I pulled out my shotgun and managed to kill all of them without any damage. After looting the deer stand (found a PDW, very nice) I checked the area again to make sure I hadn't missed anything and, sure all the zeds were gone, I made my way to a nearby farm I had spotted on the horizon. About halfway across a field I started to get nervous, like I was being watched. I turned around to check the field, and was relieved that it was completely empty. A couple meters later I got nervous again, and heard a faint rustling from nearby. I turned around just in time to see a zed come out of nowhere to charge my guy, knocking him to the ground. Unconscious, most of my health was devoured by the zombie, and I came to just in time to get off my entire round of PDW ammo into the thing. Sure it was dead, I quickly bandaged my wounds and slowly made my way with broken legs and arms to the farm. After passing out a couple of times, I thought I hear another zed, so I went into a panic and began to madly crawl my way to the farm. I turned around one final time to see the zed I had killed earlier sprinting directly at me from the spot where I shot it. Considering I was out of ammo, I think you can guess what happened.
  7. 1. Barracading Doors Multiple times I get chased by zombies and have no way to get them to stop following, so I eventually decide to run into a building. This starts out okay, until I remember that, by some miracle of ability, the undead are able to open doors in DayZ. After watching cynicalbrits video on DayZ, I can understand why Rocket had the doors able to be opened by Zeds, but when I run into a building to save myself, it's a bit unforgiving to give me no time to even grab a hatchet. Thus, I think we should replace the ability for Zombies to open closed doors with the ability to attack the doors until they eventually run out of "health" or strength and swing open. This could also be balanced out by making it an activity which attracts zombies. 2. No-clipping Zombies This isn't so much an idea as something that I think should become one of the priorities to fix. Often I will be exploring a town and pass by a factory. I'll feel safe as I don't see any zeds, right until one bursts out a wall and sprints directly towards me. This should be fixed one of two ways, either one, find a way to stop this from happening, or two, find a way for it to make a legitimate hole in the wall, and a noise, thus alerting players to hacking zeds, and allowing a way to make a quick escape. 3. Finally, FIX THE SPAWN POINTS! None of this would be as annoying as it actually is if I could spawn in a location where the loot did not consist only of empty cans. If I could even find just a cheap makarov then I could survive the hacking zeds, and trapping houses. But whenever I spawn All I find are a bunch of empty houses, and the only caches of items I ever find are the ones hidden in ridiculous areas. I've played this game for about 3 days and haven't even found a pistol. Besides those things this looks to be an exceptionally fun game, and I look forward to the future version. Hope to see you guys in the field
