  1. Are you always this much of a jackass? You must be a real bucket o' sunshine in real life. Also considering that hackers were teleporting and dropping people to their deaths around the same time my loot goes missing, chances are it was a hacker. Especially since my tent was untouched for over a week, before the hackers started hanging around this server. You really have no idea what hackers are capable of do you? Have you played this game? Try invincibility, invisibility, nuking a server, wall hacks so they can see right through the landscape to stuff like tents and vehicles, they can spawn whatever they want, teleport where they want, and teleport you where they want, they can override server presets (as everyone knows, it's a bitch to find things like tents in first person view, much easier in third, us156 is a 1st person only server, exactly why i chose it). So if you think ransacking players tents and stealing their vehicles is a stretch for a hacker in Day Z, you have not played this game enough.
  2. Yeah there is a hacker on this server, I had a tent packed to the brim with stuff in the most remote location and now it's all gone but bandages. I had a FN FAL Night Scope version, a M24, a MP5SD6, and ammo for all, all gone >.< And as I understand it hackers have some kind of ability to spot all tents and vehicles, that would explain it. Plus a dude wandering through would of probably just took the FAL and a couple mags. Instead it was all cleaned out. Like 30 Mags, and 3 guns. Which no one can carry. He probably used a spawned vehicle like an Apache, landed it, looted the tent and put the items in the vehicle.
  3. Rules of Engagement. Publik means his clan had to go Weapons Hot when hackers showed up. Always some jackass to ruin the fun, and I was just considering hopping on Freeside 2 to trade either my FN-FAL APVS-4 or my M249 SAW. And don't get me wrong, the wimps hiding taking occassional potshots or the clan that wants to hop on and try to take the compound over, playing fair, is ok, good sport even. But hackers? Where we, the non-hackers have basically zero chance of winning against them unless we too hack? That is just incredibly shitty/lame/both.
  4. That works out perfect for the Hacker, he probably lays down in the bushes, teleports the server to the field and watches the mayhem unfold, once it's over he just takes his pick of the loot off the bodies and moves on to the next server.

I'll give you guys one example of my crafting idea in Day Z. I think it would really fit in a Zombie Apocalypse scenario. People don't have the luxury of buying stuff to serve a purpose anymore, they either have to survive without it, or make it themselves out of odds & ends. Anyways usually when we are all set with guns we find a million extra guns we can't even pick up, what if we could turn that extra gun into a trap? Say you want to fortify a building that you are sniping in and you don't want some dude sneaking up on you, you tie a peice of string to the trigger, position the gun in some sort of custom mount(scrap metal) and run that string along the door. Someone walks in and BAM. If anyone's played Fallout 3 or New Vegas I am sure they are familiar with the Shotgun Traps like this and how brutal they can be. In that game you can either disarm them or jump over them. In Day Z, since we can't jump, disarming would be the only option to diffuse it, for the more wary players. Now I know someone will say the game engine can't simulate that due to limitations... I know I was just using my imagination to flesh out the situation, obviously for these traps to work ingame they could only be placed in doorways, and they are always set up the same, gun in a certain spot and string along the doorway like a makeshift tripwire. Then players will always be wary when entering a building instead of ramboing in. Also I think they could flesh out the world a little more. Add some random encounters. Crashed Helis are a nice touch, but they could do so much more then that. Like maybe a few spread out crazed AI survivors that shoot on sight, but you have a chance of getting their gun when they die, or maybe there is this random friendly AI survivor out in the wilderness sniping zombies, and he will trade you beans for ammo, or you can kill him and take the beans and maybe his gun if it's lucky enough to be in the loot. Or maybe you are walking down a random road and you see a burning truck speeding away from zombies, and a few miles down the road it crashes and the AI survivor gets out and runs for his life before the zombies over take him and he's lunch. Now you have a nice truck to fix up if you have the tools. Just random stuff to spice it up a little while still keeping the story in players hands.

Actually she's trying to turn it into a MMORPG douchebag, you know like Raids and stuff. @bdthemag Actually for me, the surviving with the good gear is more of a challenge, and more of a journey for me, cuz with good equipment we are just wearing bullseyes on our backs. As for "Endgame" stuff I'd like to see some sort of a crafting system implemented. You collect the materials and you can make cool stuff with them. I can think of a million neat uses of all the junk we find in the game already. Of course we'd need an item ingame called Duct-Tape as it's the building block of everything jury-rigged > :D
  7. No I disagree, the New Zombies are nuts now, Stealth is basically shot. Before prone any speed could let you sneak past zombies 5meters away and further, crouch-walking slowly let you sneak past pretty much most zombies 5meters and further away. This all still depends on the surface. Loud surfaces you have a chance to aggro them still, and depending on day or night the aggro can be affected. Now zombies 50-100 meters away hear me moving prone. I pretty much have to kill all zombies I come across now it's ridiculous. The Stealth game is out the window and if anyone says otherwise they are full of shit. The craziest part is shooting a gun draws less zombies then me moving! Day Z turned from a sneaky survival game, with me sneaking around with stealth-weapons only killing zombies or players that I absolutely had to. Now it's Kill anything that moves Rambo-style. Now if I could only find a M249 However, Zombies not breaking my legs everytime I encounter one is now a welcome relief, I have only had to use one Morphine Auto-Injector in 1.7.2. due to zombies. Lots of players still aim for the legs however. I do like the new loading changes. The hatchet and crowbar are still broken for me (requiring a reload before use and having 10000 ammo)
  8. Not that hard to find ammo for a FAL, mine came with 4 mags, thats 80 rounds. That's 40-80 kills. I'm sure after that many kills I'd come across someone with FAL mags, also they spawn in the 7.62 ammo boxes in the barracks, i've seen as many as 20 spawn out of one of those. I didn't loot them tho because I didn't have the FAL yet. And if you have a vehicle you can find crashed helis a lot easier then most people where FALs drop pretty often. AKM is the best of the two until you find a FAL ;)
  9. I luckily found a regular FN FAL in the barracks last night, I couldn't believe it, I checked the wiki and it claimed only Heli crash sites drop it, I had also found a Bizon in the Barracks too, they drop better loot then the wiki claims. Both guns had several mags too. I haven't had a chance to use the FAL yet cuz I haven't decided to go player hunting, but I've had massive experience with the AKM, and many will disagree with me here but I prefer the AKS-Kobra too it, weaker round but a much much better sight. I can't hit moving targets at 200 meters+ with the crappy zeroed in AKM ironsights, but I can take anyone down within 300m the AKS-Kobra. Also the Kobra mags are just as common as AKM mags. Plus if I find AK-74s or AK-74Us I can take the ammo off them as well. In my current game tho I decided to take a break from Kalashnikovs and switch to strictly AR-15 variants. I'm using a M4A1 CCO SD and a M4A3 CCO at the moment, two beautiful guns, for looting. I pull out the M4A1 SD for dropping zombies, it's quieter then the wiki reports, i've killed a zombie with another right next to him and neither had ran for me, and they were within 10 meters. I pull out the M4A3 on night servers cuz of it's handy tac-light and the grip is nice for sustained fire. Together they are my favorite weapons for looting. One to see with and one to steathily shoot with. I am also hoping to find a Heli Crash with a L85 AWS as it also uses 5.56 ammunition and it's got a night-vision scope. Or the FN FAL ANPV S4 would be an awesome find, as I already have 4 mags from my current FAL + whatever the night sight FAL comes with.
  10. I've had this happen when I haven't even aggroed anything, and across multiple servers. The whole time I waited I just kept imagining someone walking in and putting a bullet in my head and enjoying my hard earned loot. Hasn't happened tho... yet *knocks on wood*
  11. OP has NEVER played Day Z otherwise they'd know that they can choose their GENDER/SEX everytime they RESPAWN and being a noob you would probably see the respawn screen a lot more then the rest of us so you will have plenty of chances to change your sex. Buy the game AGAIN? You can't even buy it once you moron because it's not a game, it's a MOD of a game, and it's free so you better appreciate it fool!
  12. Not really as you have to survive long enough to get back to your tent. And you also have to compete with other players finding your tent which happens regularly. The way it's been for me I'm lucky if I get stuff I need from my tent 1 out of 3 playthroughs. It especially sucks lately with the hackers using cheats to find peoples tents. Also as for the backpack gobbling up weapons and other items. If a backpack is full and I want to swap items (weapons or otherwise) I drop the item from my inventory to the ground and then with the screen still open, I open my backpack and take the item from my backpack and put it in the main inventory (or main weapon slot if it's a weapon). Now that my Backpack has enough free slots I then close the menu. Click on the items on ground and open my backpack and put them in. Some people are more afraid to put an item on the ground then risk a backpack eating it, but I can safely say I have never lost a single item doing it this way. Every method in which I transfer to the backpack first I always lose something.
  13. What server: TX4 What time: Now 11:45pm EST What Happened: A Hacker joined the server and is dropping everyone 30 feet in the air to their deaths. I didn't catch his name because I can't stay alive long enough. Jerks like this ruin Day Z for everyone Edit: I would say it's pretty easy to find him as he's the only one not dying.
  14. Thanks Messhall, it was very irratating, I had just spent the day acquiring new gear after my last char was transported to the infamous debug forest of death during the DDoS attack and I had to respawn losing all my gear, just to get it all back again and have this Hacker join TX4, teleport me 30ft above his head, drop me and then take his sweet time looting my gear. Not to mention the 15-20 other people i saw dropping with me. If they would come forward here it would certainly help this guy get closer to being banned.
  15. Please Teleport back to Chernarus everyone who was teleported to the debug forest due to yesterdays events.
  16. @Abrun4 read the first post, they won't be replacing characters lost to this. They don't restore characters period anymore, gotta suck it up and deal with it like the rest of us
  17. The proof is in the logs that's all the Devs need to look at. Screenshots and Videos can be doctored.
  18. Yes even tho the Devs claimed everything was "Game on" 9 hours ago
  19. Yes I logged in at 6pm est, couldnt access my tent, getting huge lag. Then I tried playing on another server, stuck at waiting to create char screen even tho my character is alive, and switched servers again, this time I spawn in the debugforest, I have no idea how to get out of here. I log out again, new server, spawn right back in the debug forest. I Log out again, diff server and I am stuck at the waiting to create char screen again even tho my character is alive. Please when servers are back up and running Transport me out of the debug area as I have no idea how to get out of it and I don't want to lose my gear. I understand not being able to replace gear from dead characters, but mine is still alive, I just want to be out of the debug area, transport me to a beach if you want, I was at my tent but anywhere but the debugzone is good. Edit: It is 7:05 est and I am still not able to login.
  20. What Server: US123 What Time: Now, 3:20AM EST What Happened: A Hacker by the name of DJTechnor has taken over the server, he spawned in on a AH-6J heading for Balota airfield, where upon arriving crashed the AH-6J and Spawned several C-130J Hercules Airplanes. He also has some sort of teleport script running because whenever I get in close to kill him it teleports me about 250m away. This sucks because I can't retrieve my body which is near the airfield. This is about 10 minutes later, I respawned in Cherno and he just flew overheard in a Mi-24 I am sure with the amount of commotion he's causing other eyewitness reports will flood in soon. I have the airport insight right now with all it's craziness and PrtScn won't work for the life of me, it keeps pasting my desktop and not the image taken ingame
  21. Camping and Gunning down other players in a game with perma death is also lame Besides when do you see more than two players together *not* killing each other unless they are buddies? Your large group theory is thus impossible unless done by clan. A large group of random players meeting will just result in a huge gunbattle that draws a lot of zombies. And most clans are already bandits so they won't help survivors. And the whole point of a Survivor's experience is not to kill other players, but instead to kill zombies will exploring and adventuring, killing the occasional bandit in self-defense. Right now the Game is too focused on Loot which in turn fuels Greed which in turn motivates us to kill other players to acquire More Loot. By offering up the Safe Zone idea I am hoping to promote Cooperation, Companionship, and an Economy. If players can trade or cooperate for what they want instead of having to kill for it, I think it opens up a much richer gaming experience, then just following the Short & Narrow Degenerating Deathmatch mindset down the Rabbit Hole. Besides I think having Friendly Safe Havens would scratch the Bandit Player's back as well. Just like Faction Cities do in MMOs. A lone bandit or two would be toast trying to attack it. But an entire clan could probably take a Safe Haven down with all it's firepower brought to bear. It would be an euphoric experience for Bandits, just like raiding Orgrimmar is for Alliance.
  22. Yeah but turning this game into a deathmatch is going to kill this game and that is the direction it's headed. If you run into another player it comes down to who shoots first. This kind of game could be so much cooler as a simulation not a shooter. Besides in Post-Apocalyptic Settings Safe Zones are very common. Also there are already areas you are 100% safe, outside the map boundaries, in woods etc. People never die in woods. What the one in a million chance you run into another player in the woods? Hasn't happened to me yet.
  23. I think Day Z needs safe zones, small areas spread throughout the map where friendly players can group up and then head out into the rest of the hostile world. This safe zones where a fort, or a building would have automated turrets that kill bandits on sight. Otherwise the bandits would just camp the entrances and exits to these safe zones. Also there should be at least 10 of these in the game world. Whether it be a bunker in the middle of the wilderness. A 2 story building in Cherno, or a one of the Castles. This would allow friendly players to trade with each other, chat about adventures, maybe even store stuff, and most of all group up. I also think that civilian heli in Arma 2 (the big white and blue one with no guns) should be in Day Z, the friendly players can use it as a taxi, or a search and rescue chopper, or an exploration chopper. Lastly I think vehicles should have keys, not everyone in a zombie apocalypse knows how to hotwire a car come on! So vehicles can still be destroyed, looted, but not driven unless you are the driver or kill the driver and take his keys. Since vehicles reset everytime a server restarts it's not a big deal allowing ownership. Infact I think it would improve the RP experience. The lucky guy who finds the Civie Heli can now start his own post-apocalyptic enterprise. A can of Beans and a Soda could buy you a Helicopter ride to Cherno. (When Radios are implemented) Offer him a weapon and some ammo and He'll come bail you and your friends out of a Last Stand against Zombies, or Bandits. What is to stop Safe Zones from turning into Warzones? Well we already know the Automated guns smoke bandits on sight. But what about a Survivor that wants to go postal once he's inside? Well there are a few solutions. A General Box at the door which you drop your weapons in and get them back when you leave. Have a script that puts weapons on permanent safeties while inside. Or have a few Automated Guns on the inside too so whoever decides to shoot poor friendlies doesn't live long enough to enjoy his spoils. Bottom line: There shouldn't be any killing in a Safe Zone anyways, it would ruin the whole point of a Safe Zone.
  24. DCing is wrong and I agree DCer's should be banned. But I also think that guys that need 4 buddies to take out 1 lone survivor are pansies too. Rock on Lone SUrvivors! I hope you throw a grenade right in the middle of their sausage fest and kill 'em all! Oh wait what's this? Two if them DCed?! Most people bitching about DCing don't even practice what they preach.
  25. The only problem I see with this is what if the server is lagging and even tho your last battle was half an hour ago the game still thinks you are in combat and won't let you log out, even if it's in the middle of the woods. I see this happen in mmo's all the time. "You cannot log out while you are in combat" even tho I'm sitting in the auction house and my last fight was an hour ago. "You cannot hearth while you are in combat" even though the creature glitched into the ground and became invulnerable, and I couldn't kill it. I think it should be revised to if you lose blood you are not allowed to disconnect for two minutes. Not bleed but just plain ol' taking damage. And if the player Alt+F4s their character is still on the server for two minutes. Because that's really the only way to signify someone is actually in combat without introducing a bunch of other weird errors and loopholes. You don't really have to worry about falls preventing a log out because from what i've seen falls are pretty much fatal.
