  1. Will either of these two implementations have any effect on the players themselves? Example: will I have to fiddle with my ports to join certain servers? In my experience, usually only the host has to open ports and all that jazz, but with the Hive server.. not sure. If I have to have access to my ports as a player, I'm screwed and can't play this game (damn I really want to move out of my apartment). Edited because I said "all that jazz" twice. Embarrassing.
  2. Please don't put any of this shit like hockey sticks or cricket bats in the game. I'm all for a pitchfork, shovel, shears, or something like that, but don't put anything completely immersion breaking as a weapon. Please rocket, please.

As stated by this post at the bottom: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=1935&pid=19049#pid19049 If you don't want to click the link, the posters says that all vehicles - manned and unmanned - show up on the helicopter's radar. I understand a helicopter is supposed to be more "prestigious" in that they're rarer and harder (debatable) to fix than normal ground vehicles; however, this just kinda ruins the motivation to go find vehicles, fix them up, and do my best to keep them safe from other players. Pretty much, a team of players in a helicopter can just sit back and reap the benefits of the hard work other players put in to repair a broken vehicle. I'm not sure what other "features" a helicopter comes equipped with. I wouldn't even care if it had FLIR and could spot another player hiding in a bush 10km away. I just think being able to see any vehicles on the radar is a little too much. P.S. - I don't know the limitations on this vehicle identification, such as you need to be right on top of a vehicle or something. I assume you just have to be within a certain proximity of a vehicle.

    Pending Update: Build 1.7.2

    Lighting is borked. I'm not sure if it's the arma 2 beta patch itself or one of the new DayZ updates, but I've noticed it since 1.7.1.2. Sometimes my vision will just go ridiculously dark in broad daylight, and the same thing happens if I'm using Night Vision at night.
  5. Everyone please stop requesting/demanding for certain tents to not be wiped. How many times have we had tents wiped now? 3 or 4 times? Not like most of the shit all you people pick up isn't junk anyway (every camp I come across has heatpacks, flares, makarovs, enfields, etc) or can't be obtained within a couple of days playing again. I hope rocket does a complete database wipe going into beta so I can bathe in delicious tears. "WHY NOT ONLY WIPE CHARACTERS THAT WERE MA DE IN THE LAST 24 HOURS?!!?!?!"

    Pending Hotfix: Build 1.7.1.5

    Hello Rocket. With the newest update (1.7.1.4 and possibly .2 or .3 because I didn't play during .2), your vision dims when wearing NVG inside a vehicle. Sometimes it nears pitch black levels and I can't see where I'm driving, but if I look down towards the floor of the car or right click to zoom in, it'll brighten up. My friend also experienced this while riding as a passenger in the car.

    About spawning with almost nothing

    There are other mechanics to counter the "naked respawn" you're talking about, such as zombie line of sight and starting with a flashlight (which means you can play at night now and not be seen as easily by a zombie). I'd get used to it because I'm sure pretty soon you won't start with ANYTHING, not even a bag. You know why your guy wakes up on a shore? Most likely he jumped ship or his ship crashed and he had to swim to land, and we all know what happens when you swim - you lose pretty much all your gear including your bag.

    Try again champ. My friend periodically goes out into the field for training and one night they had left some rations out that attracted a wild boar. They had to put NVG on to see the boar because it was too dark out. I guess Arma 2 nights really are unrealistic, huh. I also guess that traveling 120 - 150 miles every other weekend at night and only being able to see silhouettes of trees and houses against the sky is unrealistic. Please God, grant me a gamma and brightness bar.

    The truth is people have been babied by more mainstream games where night time is practically just day time with a purplish filter added over it and a skybox change. The only reason people DON'T want to use light sources is because they're afraid of being shot. Well big whoop, getting shot is part of the game. As one person said earlier, you don't have to stand smack dab in the middle of a flare after you throw it. Chemlights are also a better alternative if you don't want to draw too much attention to yourself as their light doesn't render after a certain distance to other players (but you can still see a faint glow of the stick). As for flashlights, you don't have to keep it on 24/7; you can turn it on for a few seconds to get your bearings and then quickly turn it off. TL;DR - People are just mad they can't have pseudo nightvision anymore and cruise through the game.

    Tents are placeable. Currently, they can be placed about 1 - 2 meters away from small bushes and other similar objects, but the range around trees is RIDICULOUS (it's somewhere around 8 meters). I've been able to place a tent snuggled in 3 bushes so you can only see it from one angle, yet I can't place a tent next to a tree where you can see it from all angles. TL;DR - Tents work as everyone has said, but the distance requirements are wonky.

    This is true. Picked up a shiny DMR and some med supplied yesterday from one. Only found 3 helicopters my self but they were all empty... is this confirmed in any thread? PM it to me? =/ I've been to some crash sites and found Enfield Mags and other shitty stuff - someone else just may have beat you to it. Most of the crashes are up north in the Stary/Novy/Kabanino/NW Airfield area and since that's a heavily traveled zone, you'd be hard pressed to find one that hasn't been looted. Although if you don't see zombies spawn around the chopper, then that probably means there's no loot and that could be a bug.

US20 hosted by Vilayer.com & CQF * Time that it happened including your timezone. 10:05 p.m. EST * What happened during the incident. 7 of us were running through a field near the Northwest Airfield when all of a sudden about 4 white Hilux popped out of thin air. More and more kept popping up and I immediately aborted. One of my friends entered one of the trucks and it blew up (their in game name is Kimiko, so if it shows her entering a hacked vehicle it wasn't because she spawned it, she was a victim).

    How many times have you died since you've had this problem? You may want to suicide and see if any of the different female models have the same problem. Of course, dump your stuff somewhere safe or have your boyfriend pick it up (assuming you aren't carrying an arsenal). The only time I've experienced this problem is when having really bad frame rate.

    Are you having FPS problems? If your game is running slow, then you will run slow in game. I had this exact problem when I tried to play on my laptop. My two friends could run twice as fast as me even while I was double timing. I fixed the issue by just looking at the ground everywhere I ran until I needed to look up.

    Rocket, you should just say fuck it and release this patch Monday. You should hire me as your emotional burden because right now even I'm getting annoyed with all the people asking "R VEHIKLS FIX?" That way I'll be angry for you and you can focus on doing your job.

    Can you look into TempVal not decreasing on some servers? Last night I was on a server and it was about 10:30 in game time, but being outside my temperature never decreased even while standing still. Is there a specific time that temperature starts to decrease?

    I know you can remove it with a toolbox, but before the hotfixes came around, it seemed to were able to vault over placed barbed wire. Now it's impossible to vault over barbed wire. I'm just wondering if this was an intentional fix or there's some exploit people are using to raise barbed wire off the ground.

    I'm a little confused at the moment. There's two issues (maybe three if I can think of the third one before I end this post) that are bothering me. 1) Servers seem to be really inconsistent with their times. For example Chicago 20: Earlier today I went in and it was only one hour behind my time zone (I'm in EST), but then I went in later and it reset to about 4 or 5 hours behind my time zone. Bashur's server was like 8 hours behind, and then another server was almost 10 or 12 hours behind. I don't know if it's server admins messing with the time of day.. but I noticed that most of these servers with odd times also have shoddy loot, i.e. only bags spawning, or even nothing at all. 2) I haven't seen my TempVal go down at all since the hotfix that fixed temperature decreasing while inside a building. I mentioned this one a server and someone said some servers have it disabled. Is this true that some servers are allowed to disable it? I have a feeling it's more or less a bug. 3) Someone else mentioned in another thread - or earlier in this one, can't remember - that people were placing barbed wire all over the place in some good loot spawn locations to keep people out. I don't see a problem with this because it can be easily removed; however, sometimes the barbed wire is placed ABOVE ground and you can't step over it with 'V'. Is this intentional or did they get lucky and place it on an invisible brick or something? Or was it supposed to be where you couldn't vault over it the whole time? Also just wanted to show my appreciation for all the hard work you guys are doing for this game. Can't wait until beta rolls around to iron all these bugs out and make this the most enjoyable game I've played in years.
