It's how he spells it. PaDi ... Perhaps its an anachronim - I've never asked.

Actually.. I made a post on having less ammo in the game... But more Zombies would also work - would be more fun aswell. Unfortunately there are technical limitations.

Make ammo scarce. Make DayZ HARD.
[email protected] replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Aside from the scarcity of ammo - where any other suggestions from my original post taken on board? I'm not saying players wouldn't have ammo... It would take them longer to accumulate it, however. Don't draw parallels to Dead Island. I'm well aware that ARMA isn't the same sort of animal at all. Not to mention its a mediocre, arcade game. But the scarcer the resources within any type of game, the more decision making it evokes from the player. Player interaction is always a good thing - I'd like to think there were more ways for loners to interact with folk than simply through ones iron sights. I enjoy thinking about my next move... Not instinctually reacting "oh shit, a survivor - kill it!" as they were a zed. But more along the lines of "Ugh ... i'm heading to Rogovo - that place is crawling... I don't have the ammo for this"... -

I'm not saying this will stop the murders... It will make survivors even more desperate. Desperate enough to cooperate? Desperate enough to kill? I would love the challenge non-the-less. Have you ever played a game where ammo was scarce? Games when you didn't want to take the shot, but if you had to you had better not bloody miss? Those games are the most intense. If nothing else, it would curb the shootings of the unarmed. -

If thats the way you play dude... that's the way you play. You have one less buddy helping you hold back the horde. I'm not condemning such actions. I may even do them myself.... But overall i feel that the zeds distinctly lack the challenge, serving more as target practice to burn off a few extra rounds when bored. -

What makes you think I have any? If I don't then that's a waste of ammo isn't it? Good luck fending off the zeds with the 16 rounds left in that mag... I'm talking RARE dude. So rare that your scrounging any weapon that has ammo with it, and ditching that lovely M107 for a Winchester just to get by. Remember - survival should be what's important here... Sure... you can kill every player you see.... It's like trying to draw a blood from stone though - if they haven't got anything other than an axe... perhaps a makarov with a half-empty clip. Perhaps nothing. Its probably better to hold said players at gun-point for loot. A search option should be implemented here to gain access to a players active inventory, find out what ammo - if any they would be carrying. There are alternatives to murder... However if you'd rather blast away - its your prerogative. Survival in my mind is scrounging for supplies. I think Day Z's player base has become, fat, spoiled and most importantly - bored. weaponry should be rare.. Baseball bats, Axes, Lead pipes should all be more easily accessed. -
But really, why SHOULDN'T I shoot you?

Survivors will never band together for long if they are comfortable in the environment. Rocket would do well to ramp up the difficulty in terms of the zeds that populate Day Z. They definitely need more bullets to take down and the spawns for such items should be rarer. The more limited the ammo, the less inclined players are to waste it on other survivors - this is where banditry comes into play. When a player has only a single STANAG mag for their M4 - they would want to save it for the zeds as opposed to survivors. Even bandits would rather save ammo than kill and loot - holding survivors up and robbing them would be preferable to loosing rounds. Yeah sure, players will still kill - but at their own expense. Ammo should be worth its own weight in gold. At the moment we are too spoiled. I don't mind killing other players, or being killed by other players. I really don't - but as it stands, its too simple to accumulate ammo by myself. You simply need to know where to look. Where as if things such as this became a rarity - it would encourage trade between players. I have an AK74 - and pick up a round for a DMR hoping a survivor needing DMR rounds will have mags for my AK... Yes - I could get shot and looted... But that's the dice you roll. Make DayZ a challenge. Make it so Zombies - not players are the main threat. Zed kills are not what a player should be scored on in Day Z.... It should be Hours / Dayz survived. Although it would be nice to have stats tracked for us on this website. Nobody would like their stats to be reset to 0 after their death. Back to Day 1... Simply making AMMO for weapons scarce would be enough to do it. If the rarity of ammo in Metro 2033 made me choose discretion over valour, then it should do the same here. -
I like the idea of taking DayZ sub-Terra. Things like sewer tunnels under the big cities. Old Metro's. Or simply a little underground cache with a hidden entrance.
-
I'd much rather have guns retain their realism and authenticity as opposed to ditching all that for game-play balance... That said, I've come across a lot of Enfieild's in my travels... decreasing their spawns in favor of Winchesters and shotguns would be better...
-
Its a game mechanic... When a players blood < 9k - there is a chance a zed can knock you out. Protip.... Keep healthy.
-
new animations and sounds would be awesome xD Aren't Zeds handled client side? Having said that new animations and sounds would be a welcome addition. Oh and tougher zombies... And zeds that run straight for their targets. Pretty much a zed overhaul... But it would add SOOOO much immersion to this game/mod if rocket nails this key feature.

Zombies are seriously too fast.
[email protected] replied to Worrun (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Its not their speed... its the pathfinding.... And sometimes pure glitchy movement. To be honest, zeds at the moment are nothing more than an annoyance; they should be made tougher to kill - AFTER they can run in a straight line. -

Sometimes the server does that... might have reverted back to a previous safe a few minutes before your death - lucky you. Generally, when you die, your corpse stays -
I ripped this thread off another forum post, I after I posted I thought it belonged in here.... Yeah you make a good point there... I much prefer players using chem lights, flares, torches, and even moonlight to see at night. The darkness looses its charm...it looses its ability to instil fear when people have night vision goggles. I think they should be power hungry devices that take lithium batteries and are MUCH RARER than the stander AA batteries that power flash lights and such. I'd also like to see the inclusion of headlamps in the game, so you can look and shoot in the darkness. They would go in your tool belt, and pressing L turns them on like a torch - where ever you move your head - the light will shine. In a game called S.T.A.L.K.E.R, although there were night vision goggles in the game... somewhere; I didn't want to use them. Simply due to the fact that I loved the horror, the strange sounds at night - growling, bushes rustling and not having a f**king clue as to what may or may not jump out at me. Truly terrifying game - I loved it :D

Its just part of the game... You need to be careful when and where you shoot

Night Time, NVG's, and Power

Server hoppers can acquire loot rather quickly. Even rarities such as NVG -
The threats in this game no longer exist.

Totally agree with OP. Yeah I swear to god...when being chased I simply run through a pine tree, turn around and walk back a few paces and they're wandering around chasing butterflies. I preferred the old zeds. The brutal unforgiving ones that stood a good chance of actually killing you. Zed detection has been nerfed too much. We don't want psychic zeds....Just ones that see in front a reasonable distance, and can't see behind themselves. Zeds that can hear, and investigate sounds - but don't immediately aggro toward them. Having said all that, I would take back the old zeds from previous versions over the mind numbingly benign ones we have now. -
Are Helicopters going to be added again?
[email protected] replied to l5p4ngl312's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I do hope helicopters make a return in some form... Even in the original Dawn of the Dead, I recall the main characters straffing ambling zombies with a helicopter before perching themselves ontop of the mall. I hope rocket will bring us the civilian Mi17, aswell as a ported civilian plane from the original ARMA.... Perhaps including ONE rare gunship for folk to fight over. All of which have no radar. None of vehicles are immune to ground fire y'know.... A single well placed shot or two on a tail rotor can bring choppers spiraling down to earth. Drilling their fuel tank may force a landing later on. And lets not mention shooting at the flight crew from the ground. I also agree about the inclusion of the UAZ or Humvee. Ofcourse, any military vehicle should be extreamly rare.... making them a key asset that players are fighting over. I like the idea of players fighting over scraps in Day Z... Greed is entertaining to watch. -
I came across this on YT, and thought I'd share... Was laughing hard :P

The REAL cause of greif

In terms of gaming genres I was right.... ARMA/DAY Z is more of a simulation... That's the genre it fits into -
Punishing bandits? Shut up, seriously.
[email protected] replied to Inception.'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well I would wander on by... I'm sure a few other players would too. But how would you know? You could have been spotted 10-20 times without your knowledge and not caught a bullet to the back of the head. But since nothing happens - you trundle along quite happily. When something DOES happen... It's nothing but frustration. Death itself is a punishment. A punishment for being careless, naive, or just plain stupid. It's literally a case of wise-up or die... I wouldn't have it any other way, even though the odd player acts in a psychopathic manner. I mean, I know the folk I play with are too trigger happy when it comes to meeting other players, their mentality being 'these folk will bite us in the arse later if we don't deal with them now' .... While I don't like their kos mentality, I do follow the same train of thought now. I've given players countless opportunities to leave with their lives - them pleading 'don't shoot! Don't SHOOT!'. More fool me, I catch a bullet to the back of the head, my gear looted. Damn I was naive. That's the beauty of this game... If you don't like it - there's Dead Island, STALKER, Left4Dead... All of which are nicely balanced for the player - go play. -
Apparently I'm playing Dayz wrong
[email protected] replied to Daldrath's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Meh I let folk tag along sometimes, help them get a weapon... And then ditch them the second they do. I have trust issues. -
Went there once in the day... Didn't like it... Went back down. Damn that place is swarming....
