Yeah... But some ARMA 2 mods do Zeds very well in terms of animation and AI
-
Here's a suggestion. When browsing the in-game scoreboard, instead of players being ranked on zed kills... they should be ranked on days alive. Stats such as zed kills, could be tracked online. Everything, from food/drink consumed to distance travelled and player kills gets tracked, and reset to 0 upon the players death. Just a thought... If survival is the name of the game here - i'd rather be known as a survivor - not a zombie killer, nor bandit.

Incorperating ShackTac Movement addons

ACE would be a great addition to DayZ... Especially if rocket intends on implementing things like radios and hand signals. -
Revolver 4 shot kill?
[email protected] replied to TheAltGuardian's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You tried the head? -
Survivors will never band together for long if they are comfortable in the environment. Rocket would do well to ramp up the difficulty in terms of the zeds that populate Day Z. They definitely need more bullets to take down and the spawns for such items should be rarer. The more limited the ammo, the less inclined players are to waste it on other survivors - this is where banditry comes into play. When a player has only a single STANAG mag for their M4 - they would want to save it for the zeds as opposed to survivors. Even bandits would rather save ammo than kill and loot - holding survivors up and robbing them would be preferable to loosing rounds. Yeah sure, players will still kill - but at their own expense. Ammo should be worth its own weight in gold. At the moment we are too spoiled. I don't mind killing other players, or being killed by other players. I really don't - but as it stands, its too simple to accumulate ammo by myself. You simply need to know where to look. Where as if things such as this became a rarity - it would encourage trade between players. I have an AK74 - and pick up a round for a DMR hoping a survivor needing DMR rounds will have mags for my AK... Yes - I could get shot and looted... But that's the dice you roll. Make DayZ a challenge. Make it so Zombies - not players are the main threat. Zed kills are not what a player should be scored on in Day Z.... It should be Hours / Dayz survived. Although it would be nice to have stats tracked for us on this website Ranks and achievements given out to those who live passed x number of days . Nobody would like their stats to be reset to 0 after their death. Back to Day 1... Simply making AMMO for weapons scarce would be enough to do it. If the rarity of ammo in Metro 2033 made me choose discretion over valour, then it should do the same here.

I say fly over to cherno, bail out, and watch it fireball through the streets.

Curiosity, a dangerous thing in the apocalypse.
[email protected] replied to DarkFireTorch's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Meh....Depends where i hear the shots, and the type of shots fired. Today in the NW airfield me and my friend met up after hearing guns'a blasting. Rather peeved that our loot would have been secured by the time we reach the tower, we snuck up north... Assuming the guys we were tracking were heading from the tower to the barracks and then to the north hangars... Exercising caution we continued to travel north, being careful not to draw attention to ourselves. Unable to catch sight of them we entered the forrest. My friend saw a survivor and immediately opened up on him... I flanked off to the right, behind the wall and ran up the edge... Re-entering the forrest I saw a guy with a L86, aiming at my mate... I opened up before he had a chance. Good result. Nice loot. So... exercise caution, and reap the rewards. -
You have my beans :)

A pretty funny ARMA video... But it applies in DayZ non-the-less

If radio's are implemented, i will stop using skype to communicate with friends. If it was implemented like this...

I met the most kind guy in DayZ so far. In cherno.

Mate of mine found a friendly, he was unarmed.. Never really had any option other than coorperation. My mates a douche though, took the grenade out of his backpack and killed him with it. Heard nothing but laughter for 5 minutes on Skype. He's a dick. I shot him in the face last night :-) Now he's out for my blood... And I'm more than happy shoot out his legs - from a safe distance, of course; watch him crawl for miles, wait until he nears a town, before throwing a smoke grande on him :-) - I've been planning this. -
Sins of a hacking gamer...
[email protected] replied to DigitGreen (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Oh I remember wall hacking, and aimbotting back in the days of CS 1.5... It was the only time I did so, and while at first it was kinda fun, feeling like some omnipresent douche - it wore thin VERY QUICKLY... Bottom line.... It ruins the enjoyment of the game... For everyone. I'm glad you were banned, and I'm sure everyone else is as well. Live and learn bud... ...you blew it. you'll need another copy of ARMA 2 for a clean CD-Key if you want to continue playing this mod... Or await a stand alone release. Failing that... I'm sure there are one or two cheater-friendly servers out there... -
New Radio Station only for survivors!
[email protected] replied to Dr. Vaan MD's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I would like a radio to be put into the game where you tune into channels/frequencies... It would be awesome to come across a commercial radio channel. -
20 words or less: Spawning without a weapon
[email protected] replied to rocket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
YES A weapon can EASILY be attained given that players know where to look. Even remote farms and villages often have loot untouched by players. Even as a new player, I had NO complaints what so ever about spawning without a weapon. -
L85A2 AWS removed?

I got one today... looted it off a guy at the NW airfield -
Zombies? What zombies? This is pure PvP.

And yet you still lurk on these forums... why? -
This guy takes the disconnect exploit to a new level.
[email protected] replied to stevi23's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm just saying if they want to ALT+ F4 ... let them... Although their character remains in game for 15 seconds after closing ARMA. Some players can't be arsed using camp and waiting for 15 seconds to log and may simply want to close the game immediately... Which is fine - given that their character stays for 15 secs -
Yeah... I physically shake when coming into conflict with another player.... Whether its me doing the shooting or getting shot at - it's one hell of an adrenaline rush! For that reason alone - its one of the most addictive aspects of DayZ. We all love that dash serotonin when scared for our characters lives, and the dopamine rush that comes from getting the kill... That reward sensation is intensified when we loot a players corpse.... You ask why people KoS? You look for the logical reasoning? There is none.... We LOVE IT! In DayZ we're like dogs... We get conditioned into behaviours that have the greatest reward value. No game has given me such an emotional roller-coaster ride.

Range finder not spawning?
[email protected] replied to HaloSamurai's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Range finders can be found at military bases... they're just a rare find. -
This guy takes the disconnect exploit to a new level.
[email protected] replied to stevi23's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
People should be allowed to exit the game how they please..... However their character should continue to remain in the game world for 15 seconds after ALT F4ing... Rocket should implement a camp feature forcing players to sit for 15 seconds before logging you out.... The camp command can be cancelled any time by moving. It's how MMO's of old did it. It's how DayZ should do it. -
Bandits, Survivors or Abusers.
[email protected] replied to Catalogue's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So called 'Abusers'/'bandits' would be akin to psychopaths IRL... During an apocalypse, when the constraints of society fall - you will get people who will literally go on a killing spree... raping, mutilating, and eating anything and anyone. I don't like this labelling system you conjured up there buddy. Exploiters would be a more appropriate term... And people will exploit while the exploit is there. -
The thing about Armed Assault...y'know the 'game' that Day Z is based upon is that its not actually a game at all... Its a military simulator. Ergo Day Z and ARMA needn't have gameplay mechanics or balancing issues because the experience would not hold any realism otherwise... ...And that's what were all here for isn't it? A realistic survival experience. Sure there are other games out there that fill the horror survival catagory better than Day Z. STALKER and Dead Island are both prime examples. Perhaps those games are likely to scratch the particular itch you are looking for from this genre. I myself much prefer the realism. Knowing that every careless move, every rash action, mis-thought error can be my last. That's life. Thats survival. Its not fair... I might not even be fun to some people, but for me it envokes some primal emotions that games have simply failed to do in the passed couple of years. The only other game whose perma-death made me terrified of dying was EverQuest... back in 1998... But EVE is also the type of game that throws its power to the player base. Like those - Day Z teaches me more about our nature more than any other game has done where the environments are sanitised and 'fair'. Doing HND Game Development myself, I consider Day Z to be as much of a game as I did Dear Esther. That is that I didn't - they were experiences I wanted, and was willing to part my money with. This hardcore survival isn't for everyone - hence the constant gripes on this forum from the kids that simply just don't get it.

Working with my friends in Day Z, I'm having a hell of a time telling friend from foe, simply because the survivor skin is from Private Military Company... And there are only 3 or 4 variations of those. I'll tell you a little story that happened yesterday : Entering the forest to retrieve equipment from my freshly killed corpse that a buddy of mine was looking after; I see a survivor lying on his belly, I sneak up behind a tree and say : ME: "Hey Padi ... Is that you lying on the ground?" PADI : "Yeah i'm on the ground. " ME : "Stand up so I can be sure it's you." .... The survivor in front of me looks off to his right, but otherwise doesn't stand up. Me : "Padi, are you standing?" Padi : "Yeah, I'm standing. Where are you?" The Survivor in front of me opens fire.... Padi : "Oh shots fired! I've been hit" ... Padi dies....primarily because I told him to stand up, and violated the no#1 rule of hiding. Now this sort of confusion would have been avoided if survivor skins were more numerous and varied. Things like suits, farming attire, raincoats, shirts, jeans, hoodies.... even different types of hats would help identify friend from foe. As it stands, It is sometimes impossible to tell if the person I am about to shoot is my enemy. Any thoughts on this topic?

The REAL cause of greif
[email protected] replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
WarZ most likely.... with quests and such -
lol! If you're going to leave your oh-so-valuable insight on someone's suggestion, at least take the time to read it. Is this guy a troll or something? Does he go around copying and pasting this in every forum topic regarding skins?
