1 makarov shot brings down a helicopter...

Why is this pinned? It's interesting but jeez there's 20 posts like it everyday.... -
What do you guys think about the L85A2 AWS?
[email protected] replied to money544's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Thermal is great for scouting. It is one of the three primary weapons I carry (Along with AS50 and M4A1 CCO SD). The gun, however... well I wouldn't trust it to kill a boar... -
Haha that was way cooler than what happened to mine! Mine shot off like a grenade launcher, yours seemed like it was accidentally filled with helium or something :P I like the comment though - should have paid the toll... PS: Do you have a business card for when I need your roadside service?

Save it and it will right itself on a server restart. I once tried to fix a flipped ATV by ramming it with a pickup, it ended up flying a kilometer into the air and landing miles away, never to be recovered...

Yes, I heard Rocket is coming to have tea and cake with all 900k players and then afterwards we can all ride on the back of his little pink pony.... -
Fix for render glitches!
[email protected] replied to josan22's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Set video memory to default all the time, when you get the glitch, change to Very High, save it, and then bring it back to Default. It causes the objects to be re-rendered so should remove any artefacts -
Found my first legit map!
[email protected] replied to A Bush killed me's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Grats, although it shouldn't of taken you so long - you probably weren't looking in the right places or were playing on the same server with crap loot that hadn't been restarted in ages! Personally I have DayZDB map on my second monitor (especially when driving) and use my GPS for close-navigation. The ingame map is useful for areas north of xxx020 and for finding coordinates of locations without alt-tabbing -
I even get lost trying to go to it hehe! Don't worry, even if it's raided there are enough fully geared people to scavenge the items ;) Yep, the gun is beastly. I don't actually recall ever shooting it, but it's very useful for scouting areas for people! Personally, I'd still prefer the AS50/M107. There is usually enough ambient light that after 20 seconds of waiting your eyes will adjust and you can make out faint objects even at great distances. I usually scout with an L85 and switch to the sniper to take the shot. Sometimes it involves waiting for your unfortunate target to sit still and swapping to the sniper once lining your shot up with the L85 and hoping they haven't moved (or using a friend to tell you how much they moved). IMO it's much easier than accounting for bullet drop with a DMR. Seldom do I take shots that are under 500m and above that distance the DMR is hit and miss anyway (excuse the pun). In short, I usually scout with an L85 whilst a friend is rangefindering and switch to the AS50 once the target is silly enough to run in a straight line or even sit still. Oh, and only 70 odd votes to go!

How Long Do You Scout?
[email protected] replied to Taggert1313's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This implies that one should "stop scouting". Novices! -

IF this was an actual game...
[email protected] replied to rocket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Game purchase only - definitely will be the most popular. I don't care how it's developed, it's the end result that counts. -
It's nor $30, it's free. You pay for Arma2 not DayZ
-
It's not too much to carry - you can keep second guns and extra equipment in your backpack. I personally always carry three guns (AS50/M107, M4A1 CCO SD and an L85)!!! It's a bit clunky but you get used to it. Aaaand, keep voting guys, I really want to get this done! I also realised i have a camp on another server with a handful of GPS's, so that can be an option too!
