I don't understand, people who play this game to kill others are told "GO BACK TO COD DEATHMATCH" but if we give a suggestion to encourage group play we get told "GO BACK TO COD". The only acceptable way to play this game is to roam around in the forest for 20 minutes then run into a city to loot stuff then wonder in the forest for another 20 minutes. I think a big flaw of this community is they're so quick to act all high and mighty compared to people who play standard FPS games, they don't care about the game evolving or growing into anything. There is a reason this game is in Alpha and not a finished product. I feel like there is NO reason to do anything except run around and PVP. Do I care about getting a car or chopper or a vehicle? No. So what's the point of forming up a group and getting loot? I can do that by myself. At this point let's just call this game what it is. PVP Survival.

I don't know, I feel like servers should be setup to function by themselves, not rely on admins to police them 24/7. I don't even know if it's something the mod team can implement, but I've played more online games that kick idle players than I can name.

What kind of rewards would there be? I'm sure that by buffing them' date=' you're still also buffing the PvP players. Anything you could 'pick up' as a PvE player would be immediately accessible as a PvP player when you kill another person. Now, perhaps we could look at DAMAGE to particular items through the PvP process. For example, if I put a round through another player, perhaps their ALICE pack is damaged and is unusable. (Damn, I wanted that.) Or else, their food rations break open and aren't salvageable. Something like that I'd be for. TKJ [/quote'] I was thinking more along the lines of survival skills or "leveling up" being promoted, things like that, stuff that can't be looted, only earned by staying alive. I'm also not against damaged equipment. Eve used that for its pvp so it's an established mechanic.

Buff "pve" rewards and less people will play just for pvp.

Food and water being used offline
Swineflew replied to Jeff (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I logged in last night and water was flashing. I forgot to log off with water. I had tons and tons of time to find water before I died. I lost some blood, but overall I don't find this to be an issue. I think a lot of people are reacting to this without experiencing it first hand. -
I'll admit the idea in general seems like it would be fun, but what would prevent someone from grabbing a ton of sexy loot and dragging it to another server. That being said it would be awesome if you could get a group and do this on a live server.

Not everyone who plays knows every type of weapon drop in the game, so it's not as simple as "if it's not a normal weapon spawn, don't use it"

Personally I don't enjoy the "pve" aspect of the game. I don't see the benifits of grouping with a few other guys and building a jeep. I don't really gain anything at all by having a jeep. I can move faster, but that's not really a motivating factor to me. I'm a lone wolf kind of player. I'll scavenge off your hard work and I have no problem admitting that. I think the ability to play the same game multiple ways is a great thing. That being said I feel like if there was a legit reason for staying alive (like leveling up for staying alive while healthy) we'd see more people trying to survive instead of trying to death match. Right now the risk/reward of playing as a good guy survivor doesn't appeal to me. Being on my own and surviving as a bandit has better rewards IMO.

That's a cute little rant you've got going on. You even have a stolen catch phrase. Good for you, it's funny that the map and player count don't have anything to do with dayz specifically, but you're willing to blindly defend it. I said the map MIGHT be too big with 50 players and you flip out about cod and gtfo etc... Grow up.

So you want a private server to roam free and stockpile items for your group without any fear of getting killed, then once you have an army and supplies you'll open up the server once the odds are stacked in your favor? Seems legit.

I wish you elitests would stop calling anyone who disagrees with you cod/bf3 fanboys. Is the map too big? Maybe, it's not really about the map, it's about the player to size ratio. I feel like the current map is too big with only 50 people. How that makes me a cod fanboy is beyond my understanding.

US9 locked for personal farming and PvE
Swineflew replied to Boss (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That doesn't invalidate his question at all. Are you allowed to lock a server for personal farming and PvE only? -
When you watch a real horror movie based on zombies, have you ever thought who the real threat is? Just think for a minute. Have you ever watched a good zombie movie that resulted in only zombies killing people? Maybe, but probably not. Paranoia and fear terrorize the survivors and they revert to a survival mode and the will is so strong that people begin to fear each other. There is always some type of survivor on survivor violence. What I'm trying to say is that in the movies and even this game, zombies aren't the main threat. I've played for a couple days died a few times and logged maybe 8-10 hours and not once did I die to a zombie. They are the motivation for conflict, they are a basis for story, let me repeat it one last time just to be clear. Zombies are not the real threat in a zombie movie or in this game. That's what makes this game great, it makes perfect use of zombies.

I'm a new player and I came here FOR the player killing. So there goes your whole theory. Honestly take away the pvp and your killing the basis of what makes this one of the best zombie games I've come across.
