Your attitude and stance on this really bother me for some reason, I can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe it's the fact that you claim there isn't documentation on the direction or the purpose of the mod which is clearly not true, there are a few stickied posts dedicated to things Rocket has said. You aren't going to eliminate third party communications, it just won't happen. It's become ingrained in online play. There are ingame ways to punish alt+f4 players. I just don't understand how this is the issue that is turning the game into a "hackfest". I see it as a non-issue, but if Rocket does see it as an issue he has to work around it, because eliminating it isn't an option. -
Ok I'll be the guy who asks the obvious question. Why don't you suicide?

Clearly spawning randomly is an intended mechanic or it wouldn't have been introduced this way. I hope you DO get punished for trying to circumvent the spawning mechanic to get favorable spawns. Changing the game to make it easier for people to meet up with friends IS catering to people who don't want to walk to meet their friends. I'm not sure if you understand what you're even trying to argue. -
Tagging so I can reply when I get to a PC. Nvm it's just an overanalyzed wall of text whine thread. I'm being a bit rude, since his threadnaught was worded well and nicely, but I it basically boils down to the same anti-pvp pro zombie argument.

There are aspects of video games that can't be changed. It's the nature of the beast if you will. Bosses respawning, characters respawning after death, are just the ingame ones I can think of off my head. Compromises must be made in some cases. Imagine if you only had 1 life. Nobody would have bought arma 2 to play dayz for 20 minutes before they died. This brings me to my point, you can't control external factors to a game unless you provide a better ingame option. I don't think that any game currently has a better communication system than vent or mumble or TS. Now I know you're saying "I don't want better communication" but the point is this is something that Rocket can't control. This is the "nature of the beast" that I was talking about. Zombies aren't really supposed to be a threat exactly, more like motivation. If you watch a zombie movie they rarely die by zombies outwitting them or anything like that. It's human error or fear or another human driven event that led to peoples deaths. Just watch a decent zombie movie and you'll notice it. I forget your points on pvp, but as I said already humans are the real threat. They always have been. -
My latest vod on my stream has my attempt. It's really boring but I wait out the people who killed me and as I crawl towards my body someone logs in basically standing on my dead body. I freeze where I am and lay probe just hoping he thinks I'm just another dead body. There is a pause..... Then he kills me and I log for the night. It was pretty crazy. Last few minutes of you care to look up the vod.

I went back and read it and I don't really think he does. Edit: restricting external VoIP is going to discourage group play and increase lone wolf gameplay, it will make people who want to play in groups weaker for the shoot on sight players. -
I did notice the zombies making oomph noises but I personally didn't run into anything weird or glitchy that I recall.

See, now we are on the same page, although server hopping would still be an issue with a character per server, people would just move their chars to a good spot on a few servers and cycle between them for goodies. It would slow down the speed at which they get gear, but I don't think it would eliminate server hopping. I could be wrong about that. -
Every server is a role playing server in my eyes.

Hearing a voice usually makes it too real for me too. Typed words won't stop me but someone actually saying "hey man please don't kill me" tugs at the heart strings. -

But this catering attitude and making the game "easier" by picking spawns to be where you want to be is a slippery slope and to me against the traveling aspect of the game. I'd sooner support punishing people abusing the system than catering to them. -

I think your misuse of the word safe haven may have detracted from what you're trying to say. Yes I support bases and barricades and fortresses and all that, but I don't want any of them to be "safe". Easy to defend is fine, but safe isn't a word that should be associated to a place if it's still somewhere that can be assaulted and you could die. -

A spawn here list IS a problem. Also I think Rocket is smart enough to make informed decisions on game changing events based on stats. I don't think suicides skewing the stats are a real issue. -

It seems like the most common sense response IMO. There is a reason most progressive games have a log out timer. Like any MMO I've ever played for example.

Didnt watch the video, the caption alone talks about having the security be "hackable" by other players. Hence not safe. Also fence and barricades don't magically make people bulletproof or unable to shoot. You're asking for a DMZ or artificial safe zone and that's 100% against the nature of the game. -

Don't misunderstand. Your ideas are fine and I support them and some people might be missing something important. You aren't asking Rocket to implement game features or rules to direct peoples gameplay, you're organizing player run events and that's awesome. -
