    not sure if it was suggested yet, but there should be some ways to ahve the system ""break down" not sure if i like the "upkeep" idea, but there could be ways that require the system to be brought back up after a failure. some ingame things already: weather/lightning strikes zombie attacks player sabotage imagine a whole group of players in a town at night, then all the power dies... they would freak the fuck out... then zombies could begin spawning in town. the breakdown of civilization can begin anew, until the problem is remedied. or... bandits could coordinate an attack, where they sabotage the power station, killing the lights just before they swoop in and raid a town with nvg.

    Some weapon & Vehicle suggestions

    i'd rather see an expansion of civilian items, both for weapons and vehicles, rather than military. a couple more rifles or handguns, and several more vehicle types. those items would be easier to find anyways in an apocalypse than super-high grade military hardware...
  3. yabut... the guy claims he didn't edit the file. he claims he was given the file by a team member. so the following should be the case, either: 1. someone on the dayz team, or the team itself is supporting in some way side chat as an option. 2. the guys a fucking liar.

    Paranoia after murders?

    i was going to suggest this! would be great, if someone with some player kills under their belt would start hearing "fake" gunshots. THEN the emotional response is COMPLETELY the players, and is not a functional mechanic. "did i really hear that?" "where did that come from?" "who is near me?"

    idunno. mayb. some variety in zed types would be welcomed tho. some slows, some fasts, some dogs... nothing really like left4dead -like. boss zombie would be a bit too "cinematic" or artificial i think for this game.

    MMO styled servers

    this would be great, but instead of having different "characters," all your character's inventory, position and status would be stored by each individual server. in that way i could "play out" on a single server, and if i want to go to a different server, it's the same name and look, but i gotta start over again.

    Crossbow Suggestions - new item/more

    damage buff to humans should take place as a GIANT increase to blood loss, but no, not direct "stopping" damage. it should work that if you hit someone in the brains they die, but if you hit them in the chest, they can still come at you and harm you, but only for a short period of time.

    A week Playing as a Non-combatant Medic.

    i'm striving to do this as well... only using "lame" vehicles to assist me like boats and atvs/bikes. but yea, armed with a hatchet and makarov. the biggest obstacle i see to doing this, beyond any pvp, will be the complete absence of global chat. interested to see you post your results.

  12. hello survivors/bandits. i'm wondering what people's opinions are on the currently disabled world chat. i read a thread earlier on it, with varying opinions, but thought a new thread would be appropriate to the discussion. my opinion sofar is that i like the idea of a disabled omnipotent world chat, but with the lack of an alternative, there seems to be something missing from the game that was once important to me as a player. it seems to me that the game is set up to have some sort of "radio" item which could grant access to a world communication, but that function is not built into the game yet... it is my opinion that side chat, or world chat should be re-enabled for the time being, until the alternative, or gameplay/roleplay alternative is implemented. as is there is no way to contact other players without sitting in their laps, which has lead to a worsening of the amount of cooperation in the game. it also has left the game feeling very empty and vapid. it really feels like i'm playing a singleplayer game without the option of side chat. as now, there is no way to functionally team up with other players, outside of chance, and there is no way to check if someone is friendly or has the intention to help. the benefits however, is granting the feeling of survival in the world, and a sense of realism. however, that sense of realism is not worth it imo for what we have lost. a community. in another thread in the server forum, there was mentioned that some servers were given the ok by the team to run with side chat enabled. i am wondering if there is a list of known servers that run this configuration as it is at this point one of the more important options to a server for me to pick. alternative, if we get a list of these servers, and they run high populations consistently, it can show that the opinion of the community is that they prefer side chat... not that the mod team doesn't listen, they are very plugged in imo, but it would be a great way to demonstrate it as a needed option for the community. -thanx!

    Disabled Side Chat: Revisit?

    i disagree. it seems essential for new players to ask questions about the game, ingame, and get answers. it's also good for teaming up with other like minded survivors. yes, yes, there is noob crap that happens, but to say that ONLY noobcrap happens in sidechat ignores it's positives outlined here and in other threads.
