Has anyone been able to place a tent since 1.5.8?
shemashko replied to Daddy'o's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I like the new inventory system right now. I've yet to pitch a tent with this patch, but atleast I don't have to swim in water to fill my bottle now and I can drink and eat waht I want without having to throw them in my backpack. The inventory system should stay and be fixed in my opinion. -
Alas, to see more brave adventurers brings tears to my eyes. Unfortunately, I have failed this task. My thirst was too far beyond my capacity to bear, and I had to drink....the Dew.

The Winchester is a rifle. Rifles have a rifled barrel, shooting pellet with it will just wreck the barrel. It's a reasonable change. As for sound, I've yet to shoot it in a zombie infested place....maybe its just because I'm not dumb enough to shoot anything in a zombie infested place. Be sneaky gentlemen and take what you need and want and get out safely. Cheers.

BICYCLE! BICYCLE! I WANT TO RIDE MY BICYCLE!!!! -
As an alpha it is the community's job to try to help the devs out to their best ability to get the alpha stage done. The alpha stage is tons of bug fixing and main features implemented/experimented(rocket you evil person). And yes you are helping by notifying about this problem as everyone seems to have. Whining and cussing about isn't going to help. If you know a way to fix it then let the devs know, if not don't cry like a baby, it doesn't help everyone. Just play diablo 3 till the beta of Dayz if you're not having fun with what it is right now.

Perceived usefulness of Weapons.
shemashko replied to Jamesbiff's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
PvP is not all about weapons people. Much more of it is based on your wits and skill. I've taken down 3 bandits with a winchester, they had a SAW, M4 silenced, and a 74. They were just plain stupid, being extremely close together and firing away at some survivors on the beach. I looped around them with my 5 buddies and got them in position and fired away at the bandits with winchesters, lee-enfields and empty tin cans. Easy pickings and now we have better guns, but they won't last forever, so it either to venture up there or ration your ammunition when big trouble arises! -
A hub for trading, meeting and bearing.
shemashko replied to raphier's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
If you really want to do this, then do it yourselves. Rocket is making and giving us the tools to create our "own" gameplay. We sure ain't game mechanics, but we can keep on trying to make it work. What I suggest is to get to know who is highly trustworthy in the community of DayZ and give them the VIP pass to the area of the Trade Hub that you or your group has made. Have a secret forum and make a weekly post of where the Trade Hub will be. Those who are trustworthy will benefit and gain items they need, while bandits will never be able to trade. -
Gutting animals sometimes produces more meat.
shemashko replied to sneakycorndog's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
No why would you spill the beans on this bug! haha. Yes, I can confirm this also, I actually did this with 5 people on a cow...Yeap 40 pieces of meat. Something to fix for sure, but shouldn't be a high priority than other bugs. -
I just wanted a heads up if you guys know the answer to this. If a zombie sees you and starts to chase you does that zombie alert the rest of its pack? Or is it only the zombie you alerted who runs at you? This came to mind when I had a crossbow, which is the earliest form of a silent weapon for a survivor. And if a zombie were to see me and I pop it with my crossbow I won't attract all the zombies.

The New Zombie Count is AWESOME
shemashko replied to WildGunsTomcat's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I enjoy the new zombie numbers, they make looting much harder and tense. My only concern related to zombies is the lack of zombies outside of towns/cities. It would be great to encounter just a mere 3-5 zombies randomly while traversing the forests of chernarus. It would definitely make the game much more harder for 3 reasons 1. You have no building to get to so you're going to have to fight fast zig-zagging zombies 2. Since they're hard to hit, you're bound to miss a few precious ammunition now because looting is now a difficult task 3.You need to be a little more cautious around the woods now so no running from place to place! -

Roaming zombies - Is it possible?
shemashko replied to survivalist's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Having just one or two zombies in the woods will give you a run for your money that is for sure! If you put it to mind, you don't have a building to run to so you're going to have to face a fast zig-zagging zombie coming for you! Plus if there are people around your vicinity and hear your gunfire you're going to be stalked in the woods. OH THE EXCITEMENT! OH THE THRILL! -
There shouldn't be any pvp-free trading post region!
shemashko replied to survivalist's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't want to see any sort of hardcoded aid to help us in this game. More rather I'd like to see the devs give us the "characters" the tools to allow us to make our wishes to come true. If we want to try to make a trading post, then let The Great Bean God give us the tools to build it. As of right now, it is possible to make a trading zone. This is how I do it. I take over the military building with stairs and ladders leading to the rooftop have a few watch the stairs and ladders and set up a trading place at the rooftop. We ask people who we see around to use the ladder to get up and immediately use the sit-down animation to let us know they will not do anything rash, and trading can being through talks. I'll give him something the person needs and in turn he'll give me something and go back to the sit-down animation. Anyone to goes up the stairs get shot. This has worked for me quite well with me only losing a guy due to a lucky shot from a sniper far away. I've been able to have around 8 proper trades. Its got flaws, but I managed to make it happen with what I got. I'm positive the devs will give us the required content/tools to make it easier. Believe in them and continue to aid them throughout the alpha and soon to be, beta. -
Civilians, currency, trade, roles, events, rewards
shemashko replied to wolfmat's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Soo much work you did here in a professional fashion, I'll give kudos to you there. Unfortunately I'm going against this idea outright for me. I'm against any sort of artificial aids to help get you out of the boredom of this game or help improve gameplay and roleplay. If you want trading to happen then make it happen through the community, form a group that trades through the use of tin can currency(prefer barter) then you can do it within the game by making it happen without the devs creating such a thing. This is a game of survival, not a game of Civilization and a MMORPG dashed in. A good portion of your ideas can already be done right now. Yes, of course it is really really tough to do them, but it is possible. I've safely traded with a group of survivors by having a middle man that has no weapon to come forth to see what is there to be traded. It could've been a bloody firefight, but both of us kept to our word and managed to do some sort of trade. I would prefer this game to be as non-artificial as it can be. Seeing actual people form and try to be united is an amazing sight to behold. -
Petition to add the Mosin Nagant to Day Z
shemashko replied to Kophka's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'll sign this, but I'd like to let the devs more focus on bug-fixing and core implementation to the game, Once again this is alpha and alpha means getting the game to work without major game-breaking flaws :). p.s. help alpha go through more quickly by posting the bugs you see! -
Are people more hostile, or friendly?
shemashko replied to A27_StarWolf's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If you mean people who stray away from humans as friendly then there would be more of them than hostiles imo XD. -
Melee weapons / Zombie kills and humanity
shemashko replied to Jester.'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I played Invasion 1944 which had a sort of melee implemented that worked pretty well. Rocket could ask them for help on this plan! -
Bandits vs Survivors (We should change our mindset..)
shemashko replied to NeptuneHydro's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm going to clear a lot of things up in a few words. AHEM... For all you people who play the actual ArmA 2/OA. If you played multiplayer in a public server on a domination mission, teamwork can be messy and probably not even evident. If you played multiplayer with a community (eg. Shack Tactical, TG, UnitedOperations), teamwork is amazing and you feel more immersed within the game. Basically speaking, if you want cooperation in this mod without risking your naked butt talking to darn strangers asking if they are friendly, then sign up with a group you think suits you best. Better yet encourage your friends to play this game. Sidenote: You guys want to kick bandit arse and change this situation then do what I advise you to do up there. I know it doesn't feel realistic to do this, but whining about it won't do much. You gotta make with what you got! -
Suggestions to solve the biggest issues
shemashko replied to super pretendo's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
All the ideas sounds very reasonable to me and should be implemented to see if they work. Number 3 though will probably need a little further tweaking as I have feeling it could be exploited. Personally I'd rather much prefer a bigger spectrum in the humanity models. As you gain more humanity your player model will change to allow other players you are trustworthy and same for humanity going down. -
A perfect example of anti fun banditry
shemashko replied to Survivalist (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
As most people tell you, this is a game of survival. Working with a partner is a major advantage of course, but it is also risky as hell. You never know when that buddy will shoot you in the back. You make decisions and these decisions will lead you to conclusions. Think carefully before hand. Concerning having to avoid people = less loot is bullshit in my opinion. I've been able to roam around the north avoid people that are looting around and wait until they go away to another area. Sure its time-consuming, but you get the next loot that spawns. Once again a game of survival. Think of it that way and you'll enjoy it much more. Been surviving 12+ hours so far. -
Warden/peace keeper/ Militia idea
shemashko replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
My team are usually located in US4 or DE2 -
I'll have to disagree on this idea. If you want a secure trading post then you gotta try doing it with what the game has right now, of course its insanely difficult but that is how the cookie crumbles. Let's just be reminded that as kid we are to not trust strangers, especially those who are trying to give free candy away. Let it apply to this game.
