To spare your troubles, you should just respawn. I mean, even if you get morphine, how long will that take? How long could it take you to just find more supplies? Believe me, I was in a similar situation and spent a day just waiting and talking in direct chat. -

If you have already removed it from your toolbelt (right click on it 'remove from toolbelt') then it must be day. You can't activate flashlights during the day. To turn it on is 'F'.

Yeah, some days you can't find a trace of weaponry but then others you find an AK-74, AKM, CZ550, and Glock 17 in the same place.

You can also fill up canteens at water pumps. And on the water pump you use your middle mouse button and select 'fill water bottle' and there you go!

On the blood trail, there could be different types of blood trails such as drips from conventional bleeding that would be hard to spot at a glance, and blood smears. Blood smears would come from crawling while prone or with broken legs. Also, the blood would be more realistic if when it first appears it is really bright red, and over time it turns to a darker brown. So yeah I was watching a deer hunting and tracking video and I thought this would be a good addition to the game. Props to you for thinking of it first! Hope the devs look into this.

Not a good idea. Could you imagine dozens of fresh spawns beating each other to death with 2x4s?

My video settings: Visibility: 1,600 Texture Detail: Very High Video Memory: Very High Anisotropic Filtering: Normal (sometimes disabled) Antialiasing: Disabled Terrain Detail: Low Object detail: Very High Shadow Detail: Normal Postprocesses: Disabled (I don't like the blur) Quality Preferences: Very High The underlined categories are the ones that will affect your speed the most. Never set your visibility over 2,000. Hope this helped!

It isn't like you are losing anything, just find a server that has a low amount of players and start anew. Just remember, the big servers are just full of bandits who like to kill for fun. I hope you have better luck on the next spawns! :)

I logged onto a server one night, at the airfield just as the sun was setting. I hurried past the hangers fearful of the undead inside. I saw the control tower building and decided to stop there. I went upstairs to find an akm on the top floor. It was the first time I had my hands on a good rifle. I looked out the big glass windows that surrounded me at all angles and saw a green chemlight on the edge of the treeline. My heart was racing at the thought of other survivors come to take my hard earned gear. I went downstairs hoping that they didn't see me but I was sure they did. When I got to the bottom floor I saw a shadow pass by the light and that's when I really got freaked out. Because this was my first time encountering another survivor, (besides the people who take cheapshots from Elektro) I didn't know what to expect. So I crouched and went under the stairs, which are quite consealed and you can't see behind them when you walk through the door, and aimed down the sights of my new akm. I was too freaked out to think about logging out, in fact, I dont think it crossed my mind once. But there I sat waiting. The survivor never showed up and I went up into the hills the next morning. Long story short, I am still surviving on that charactor on my 25th day and I will never go back to that airfield at night again.

The Average amount of time survived

Well mine is currently in the 9-10 hour range, this is why the average is not as low is because alot of people live for a long time, but with all the respawns and deaths obviously it's going to be lower. But trust me, I had around 50 respawns before I finally got the hang of it. So I would say my average would be about 6-7 hours maybe, excluding the first tries. -
Faint everytime I spawn on a server.

Wow these are really good, I'm glad to see that not everyone just wants new weapons and items. -
It would be nice to have a low caliber shotgun, say .410, that would just cause severe pain, unconsciousness, and minor bleeding. Just to stop a player but not kill them. And as a melee weapon perhaps a sledgehammer? I think maybe they should add some small caliber weapons like a .22 pistol or rife too maybe. Just my opinion. And some cool weapons such as the Taurus Judge, and Taurus Circuit Judge, that can fire two types of ammunition (.45LC and .410 Shotgun Shells).

Firearms Should Not Be The Main Instrumentality Of DayZ

On the point of not being able to signify friendly intentions, I have come up with two things that I know have been used, and work. Salute, "\" used commonly among some servers to identify friendlies. And another is green smoke. Although you may have to be careful with the smoke because it can draw in bandits. Even in MineZ I have seen players say they are friendly and kill each other so its just a matter of the people you meet. -
Dedicated Side Arm Slot or Pistol/Axe/Crowbar Slot

There already is a dedicated sidearm slot, and if you want to use a hatchet you put it in the primary slot. You already can toggle between pistol and hatchet. -

You don't have fun as soon as you start. You have to learn how to sneak around and where to go and where not to go. After a few attempts you will be able to sneak past any zombie and after a while you will accumulate supplies and weapons. If you spawn and immediately go into a big city that is a dumb idea. It took me at least 20 re-spawns to understand how to survive. Also, hatchets are everywhere, if anything that should be the greatest 'newbie' starting tool. If you restrict PvP then what fun is that?! There are no PvP restrictions in zombie apocalypses!! So once you get your bearings and find a weapon and supplies then the fun will really start. Good hunting!
