I am trying to pitch a tent and getting the same problem. I'm beginning to think that he means a level area free of other objects because I can't seem to pitch one anywhere the is an incline at all.

What server(s) do you play on? I live in central US and am playing with a friend and we are both looking to join a larger group. Safety in numbers :)

I had finished looting the deer stands near balota and when I went to open the gate to check some of the zed I killed the gate opened inward and threw me into a barbed wire fence. Instant shock, broken leg, bleeding and a hefty amount of blood lost. It didn't end well.

I had this idea last night and I agree with most or all of what you said.
