Why some people even do play DayZ ?

You would probably be more interested in DayZRP.
  2. The Batman

List of features that would be nice to have.

No. To all but one of these, the sound. Obviously, sound will be improved as the games development goes on. I know these ideas have been explained already, but allow me to address each point in detail: - "Player name has killed you" - the idea of DayZ is that it is realistic. Why would we want some CoD style killfeed to show us what we already know? That we're dead? The only reason you'd want this is so that you know who to go for in your next life which completely destroys the realism anyway. - "Player name has knocked you out" - Exactly the same reasons as the previous point. You don't need to know who knocked you out, you just need to know that you are knocked out which is obvious from the words "You are unconscious" in the middle of the screen. If you get punched in the face, and see that message, it's pretty obvious that player has knocked you out. - "You have killed player name" or "You have knocked out player name" - again, no. Why would you care? - "Ability to display nametags for friendly" - I'm pretty sure that in a battle, in real life, you don't get the names of friendlies popup. It's not realistic so it doesn't belong. - "Percentages in hunger and thirst" - While a better suggestion, it just isn't realistic. Let's picture it as real life. You don't have a percentage bar and when it hits 0% you die. You just know you're hungry. Really, really hungry and begin passing out etc. I do think that the bars should be more apparent than the current system of having to open your inventory, but I don't think this is it. - "Ingame stats" - Maybe. But should be limited. We shouldn't have "players killed" or whatever, maybe "Bandits killed", but having a tally of players killed just encourages PvP. Maybe have ways for the player to record it himself (e.g writing on paper etc) but not automatically. - "Spawn choices" - No. Spawning, figuring out where you are and the best course of action to take from spawn is part of DayZ.

    Seasons

While an excellent idea and I would, in theory, love to see it.. I think it creates a difficulty spike that may deter players from beginning playing at certain times. Example, someone buys the game, loads in to find Chernarus covered in snow. No food, difficult to find water and freezing to death, they soon give up. But in Summer, which I imagine is around the season in DayZ currently, it would be MUCH easier to start up and survive. I know DayZ is a hardcore survival game, but it is still a game and relies on bringing new people in all the tim.

These Vehicles And Clothing - Lore Friendly Suggestion

From a "realism" perspective, I see no reason why tanks shouldn't be in the game. But from a gameplay perspective, it would be horrible and broken.

    Want this mask so bad!

Personally, I'd love a Guy Fawkes mask.

Adding the ability for a character to kick

Kicking players while they are down would be more realistic than having to stand over them and punch them (would also make for brutal combat). However, kicking a standing zombie/player just isn't practical in a combat encounter. People talking about head kicks and how they've trained in martial arts for years - no. In DayZ, you're playing as a survivor that wouldn't have the technique, flexibility, speed or power to deliver a powerful kick to the head. I love martial arts and would love a sandbox survival game that included it as self-defence, but DayZ isn't that game. The ability to kick downed players or kick a player to the floor that isn't fighting back would be brutal which fits DayZ. But using it in a fight is stupid and impractical.

    Meth

I can't believe people are contributing to this discussion as if it makes sense. Yes, in the midst of a certain doom at the hands of a zombie apocalypse, let's all get high as fuck for performance enhancing goodness. If this is added, I want rohypnol and viagra so I can knock out and insta-boner characters under the justification my character is lonely. It's just not realistic nor balanced. In a real apocalypse, I wouldn't do it. In a game? Fuck yeah. I'd be so high all the time my little talking badger friend would become my personal companion to help me run away from the super evil Fluttershy clones that are trying to inspire friendship in me.

Just a quick question about Visibility

That.... Makes literally no sense. Less pixels = see more people? Try checking and double checking 3D res, make sure it's at 100%. Also check your DayZ.cfg and see if anything looks odd in there.

    Hacks or destruction?

http://www.twitch.tv/profsheen/c/3505595 Above is a link to a part of my DayZ stream that happened yesterday. After discussing several times with the other people in the group, we couldn't decide whether we had been victim to foul play or if we fell victim to a pretty ingeniously stupid play. I just wanted to know, what do you guys think? Aside from a very very bad play on our behalf, let's examine the facts: In our discussion afterwards, we decided that they had probably spotted "Mopp" (the guy crouch walking around). At the time, I didn't pay attention to this and in the heat of the moment ignored it. We acknowledge that they could have spotted him. Notice how, when the guy is moving across the field, he fires DIRECTLY at me. I haven't broken cover from behind the wall so he cannot know I am there. THAT'S A LOT OF BULLETS. Seriously? They must've fired around 300-400 rounds at least. Who wastes that kind of ammo on a wall you think might have 1-2 guys behind? Notice how they are able to fully auto fire from 100-200 meters away and hit the wall almost every time. Anyone that's fired the M4 knows how difficult/impossible that would be, even with optics. When I crawl into the bush I get stuck in and am unable to move, you may notice that the bullets are hitting the wall right next to me. I've moved from where I was, yet they seem to be firing exactly at me. Also count the rounds that are fired at the end, that's a lot of wasted ammo and seems to be an obscenely long magazine.

    Hacks or destruction?

We were there for around 20-25 minutes. We were all eating (IRL) before this happened. I thought the sniper might have had a good position, but it seems strange he didn't hit any of us. Not once. He hit the wall the same as the M4 guys. Maybe they did, which is still pretty unfair as I'm a small time streamer, not some big name. True, but THAT volume?

    The KOS conundrum, problem/solution.

I do dislike the KoS mentality but more often than not I do just shoot nearby players that are armed. It's just not worth the risk. It's unarmed players I love bumping into. A group of 4 and I held up a player in a house demanding he comes out or we'll storm it and kill him. He came out, so we told him to drop his food and water as maintaining 5 people means we were low. He said he didn't have any so I cuffed him. Searching him, we found rice and water. We told him he shouldn't have lied and force fed him disinfectant. We began leaving, he freed himself and chased us telling us we "fucked him". He tried to attack one of us so I put a round in his leg before a friend axed him a few times and we watched him bleed out. I'm an out-and-out bandit but we would've left him alive to find his own way, I hate just killing people but I do love interacting with players properly, albeit in an aggressive way. This kind of system would be brilliant IF it was done right as I think my character would fit quite well in the "insane" category.

    Hacks or destruction?

That's exactly why such a debate spawned between the group. It's every bit possible they had that ammo to waste, but it's so unlikely. Some hacks only give unlimited ammo/no recoil. I agree. Indeed it was. It looked as though he ran along the wall spraying until he saw me. Still a huge amount of bullets though. Though the two guys to my right did have eyes on him for a while (before they died). Unfortunately no. After this, we were frustrated and joined a different server. If it was hackers, we didn't want anything to do with it. As he starts moving across the field following his initial barrage I couldn't decide if he was reloading or not (too far to tell really). When I begin firing at him, I assumed he disappeared for a while because I had hit him (bandaging). That is a lot of ammo to carry. But question - would you fire a large portion of that ammo at a wall that housed an unknown amount of assailants? You have to remember the third guy had a Mosin. I would say the two guys fired upwards of 300 rounds or certainly close to it.

    Hacks or destruction?

It's worth noting that after this happened, the guy who asked if he should log in did so (we are really far north and regrouping would take ages anyway). He was in the trees opposite (where I'm checking at the start of the video). He logged in, spotted two guys by our bodies. They turned around and killed him instantly across the field. You are the exact reason I didn't post this yesterday and debated whether I should. I DID NOT say it was "dem hacks" or anything like that. I merely questioned the legitimacy of it based on the amount of round that came at us. There was two of them in the field and one sniper. We discussed and we could see the two guys fire. The sniper didn't fire that often. It also seems strange that the sniper didn't kill any of us when we broke cover. Mopp (guy that got spotted) got into the trees on the left unharmed. I'm not bothered whether I got bested or not, I just find it curious to know whether it is legit or not and clearly my debate has caused mixed opinions so my reasons are justified. If you must know, that character was over a week old (matching ttsko camo ftw) and half of the fun of DayZ is gearing up. Most of the squad there had been alive around the same amount of time. We played badly because we were in the middle of nowhere, waiting for a friend to log in. We got taken by surprise by a large hail of rounds and extremely limited surrounding cover. Yes, it's our fault we all died. But it DOES NOT bother any of us that much. 1) Yes, we acknowledged that. 2) Yes, I mentioned that 3) There was 2 of them (+1 sniper). There were 2 friends to my right, they spotted the guy on the right. 4) Yes it is, but not that accurately at 100m+ 5) Very true. However, I moved a few feet away but bullets still hit the wall right next to me. 6) True, but with thinned out numbers and being pincered, pinned and with limited cover options, by that point it was too late. Yes, we did. That's true. I appreciate the sensible, none ragey reply.

    Hacks or destruction?

The guy that went left had a guy to his right and the sniper would fire every time someone tried to get a shot on him. As you can see he also suppresses with a lot of rounds himself lol. You can see I clearly get some good shots off and he disappears for a while behind a bush.

Can I Run DayZ Retail (POST HERE)

The thing with DayZ, is that it is heavily CPU dependent. GPU obviously makes a difference, but having a good CPU is where it's at when it comes to DayZ. My assistance needs no thanks - especially when it comes to Gotham's streets. But hey, WayneTech is big for a reason - gotta help people build their PC's between cleaning up them streets. Also I'm not an ex AMD employee lol :P

Can I Run DayZ Retail (POST HERE)

I have some experience with AMD stuff and I would say you'd probably run Standalone on Medium-low settings consistently. Also you probably don't need that 750w PSU if you're building that PC yourself, unless you want room to upgrade in the future. The recommended wattage for the whole system is 500w with that GPU so you could go for lower and save some money (though i'd say give yourself some headroom). Also I very very much doubt integrated graphics run SA better than a dedicated graphics card. I had a GTX 560 and that ran DayZ better than my laptop; which has integrated. Integrated graphics quite simply aren't made for gaming.

    Best Gunfigth?

I'd had several encounters with players before but these are the two most recent and best ones... We were heading to the military base south-east of Zeleno, but decided to head up the east road to get to the water source there so we could have a drink. "We" consists of me and three close friends; I was the only one without a gun, however only one of us had any ammo and that was for a Mosin. The two guys with M4's didn't have any bullets at all. Heading across a field near the road, one of my friends shouts out that there is two players running up the road 100m to our north-west. After spotting them and going prone, unsure if they'd seen us, I spotted and called out that there was actually three of them and they were all heavily armed. As we lay still in the open field, they turned and began to run towards us. As they got closer, being closest to to them from our position I decided to stand up and put my hands up hoping they wouldn't shoot me straight away. If they did, our guy with the Mosin who was slightly split from the group could hopefully do some damage before we all died. To our astonishment, these guys with their full black, camo and green attire merely offered us food and water and asked if we followed them. Though extremely cautious of one another, they seemed to like that fact that we didn't just open fire on them straight away. They failed to notice that the two M4's we were carrying didn't have a magazine in them. After some awkward conversation, we split and went our separate ways without a single drop of blood being spilled. The second encounter occurred at the NWAF. I was part of a squad of four other guys (once again my close friends) as we looted the place. Being such a large group, we decided to split off into two groups - one guy and I whilst the others went off in a three. As they looted the fire station, they came under fire from an unknown position. Heading across to their location, I spotted a player sitting in a bush around 300-400m aiming towards them. Deciding to get in closer for a better shot, my friend and I used cover and moved up. It was then that we spotted another player in one of the hangars. After closing in to around 100-150m to the bush guy, we opened fire. It was quite strange, neither guy ran away, but neither guy returned fire either though they seemed to move more sporadically after being shot at. It was then that someone charged the firestation but was shot down instantly by the three guys in there. After killing bush guy while he tried to hide behind the ATC tower, the rest of the group checked the hangar to find it empty - so I either killed hangar guy or he dc'd. Unfortunately we lost a man in the firefight but one casualty in a 5v3 isn't too bad - especially when they get the drop on you. A little while later, we were sat in the trees just outside the AF as we were having TS problems - so we were briefly chatting on direct. A guy comes out of nowhere and begins wildly spraying at us but is obviously shot down very quickly. Though he hit me three or four times, I was able to bandage and recover. Why he decided to take on four heavily armed guys on his own is a mystery.

Can I Run DayZ Mod? (POST HERE)

I have that exact case! if you're looking for style points I'd say buy the NZXT HUE, the LEDs look awesome shining out through the window in the side of that case. As for the specs, I think you'd run it absolutely no problems AT LEAST on Medium settings. I have a FX-9590 and a GTX 770 and it runs very very well.

    Reason behind your username?

In all seriousness, I've gone by many Aliases in the past, some interesting some not: Acidic_Rain - I wanted to think of something different but catchy and liked the idea of rain. Acidic Rain just sounded right. Funny thing is, a few weeks after I made this my username in various places, I heard a song from my favourite band at the time (Linkin Park), with the lyrics, "And it's all gonna change in a hurricane of darkness and pain and acidic rain".. So it stuck. Prof Sheen - Short for Professor Sheen, this ones a bit more interesting. Sheen came because I was a massive fan of Charlie Sheen, to the point several of my friends called me by his name. The Professor part came from a media project I did at college. We had to create a music video, one of the artists I portrayed was "Professor Green". I do a pretty damn good impression of him (though you don't hear that in the video) and one of my friends began calling me "Professor Sheen". It stuck. Septic - I purchased a laptop second hand from someone who wasn't so good at wiping the information (or his pornography) off of it. The computers name was set to "Septic" and when I downloaded and joined our TeamSpeak server, it took the PC name as the default username. Thus, it stuck. I use these 3 different usernames still, mostly Prof Sheen though, depending on what mood I am in. For anyone interested, heres the video I talked about. Oh, college days. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmzN1xbmrXw

I am the hero DayZ deserves but not the one it needs right now - so I shoot people.
