When going to Elektro during Daylight, I find it best to go via sniper hill, and keep watch on the town and the hill to make sure there are no Snipers, you can also tell how many Zeds are in the town and how many players and their locations from the positions of Zeds. This isn't as easy in Cherno, I go via the Apartments in the north, near the hospital. You should be able to then do a loop through the apartments, hospital, Fire Station, Supermarket, Church, along the coast and onwards to the Military Tents, through the car park/construction site and back out north to the forest or east to the Hill & Elektro. Just my way of doing things to stay safe, especially on a 10-20 player server, you should be ok :)

I had the same, I was doing about 70 on an ATV with a friend on the back, crashed into a roadblock which hadn't rendered, and both died, and now my friends won't let me drive any of the vehicles we find :( But it's normally due to high ping or bandwidth for me!

As Zombies aren't spawned unless a player is nearby, the amount of stress wouldn't dramatically increase. The difference between a player or two being in Elektro and none at all is hardly noticeable, if at all.

Hopefully there will be a deer stand on Elektro hill in the Standalone, just to spawn zombies to act as a threat to snipers.

What have you downloaded? Tried any cheat/hack software, or downloaded any dodgy software related to DayZ lately?

Over the amount of time you can survive in Dayz? Unlikely to be getting cancer over that time frame! Lighters would surely be too small to see to pick up in house spawns etc.? Or would they come as a pair?

You don't have to have cigarettes in game, just as you don't have to have them in real life. 20-24 isn't a lot, historically people have done 40+ (I can't think of examples right now!). And the damage to lungs would be minimal over days and months. We have discussed the hunger aspect, and the warmth (good/bad) as well as the addiction and potential illness factors.

I was thinking the same as you with regard to the packet and Roadflares etc., and the hunger thing could be a side effect, good idea! Thanks for your criticisms... oh, wait, you just said it was an awful idea. Please tell me the issues with the idea and everyone can discuss them. It is not as though cigarettes are unrealistic, or going to majorly affect you over a 90-day character for example.

Or when your friend is lying down, bleeding out, putting a cigarette in his mouth and watching him pass out and die, or doing the same with a bandit/zed victim showing him respect before they die.

Of course there is a reason to use things other than pistols - if you want a silent zombie kill, you can use an axe / silenced mp5, or if you are out of pistol ammo you may need a melee weapon. Or if the zombies are too far away, you might need to use a rifle or sniper. Especially when supporting in an overwatch role.

Why would smoking reduce your body temp? Breathing in smoke makes you slightly warmer, doesn't it?

Offering cigarettes to other players could up humanity, this is a great idea! But yeah, I agree that it could be complicated to implement, however isn't the community going to hake over the mod when standalone is released (did I read that somewhere? I may have made that up in my head, if I did, please ignore!) So the potential benefits vs drawbacks could be balanced to make an overall neutral, and you could use painkillers to try to stop smoking? :D
