Against the rules or not, Narsil, you'll be surprised by how many admins ban for it, sad but true.

Will very likely get you banned from most servers but not global banned.

How can I get my G510 Gaming Keyboard to Auto-Walk Macro
johan (DayZ) replied to Mankind's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I just lodge a coin. Always have and it works great. :) -
FN or M107, What do you guys prefer?
johan (DayZ) replied to GBTP's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Two completely different beasts all together. You had no ammo for one, though, so as mentioned above it's a 'no brainer'. -
After the nerf the M1911 has no reason to be used anymore, tbh, unless you haven't got another weapon. The G17 is, imo, now the best pistol in the game due to it's RoF and ammo count, not to mention the flashlight. The PDW is my second choice as it's deadly in CQC and for headshotting zombies you got a massive ammo count that takes up very few slots. M9SD is another good choice due to the high ammo count (15) and the fact that it's silenced. I'd only use it vs zombies, though, seeing as how it's a bit lacking in accuracy.

Why is the M14 so overlooked?
johan (DayZ) replied to Inception.'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I keep finding them in deer stands. With the abundance of ammo considering how common the heli crashes are, however, I prefer the fn fal over all others any day, though. -
Just Curious on which gun I should have taken

M4A3 all the way. Superior in every way. -
Don't post in the forums if you cannot have a real discussion with people. You completely ignored the points that was made in regards to how your perceived solution would fail to do anything save removing everything that legit players have earned. Greed? Are you serious? If you cannot respond to actual feedback in any other way than insults then perhaps you need to go and cool off before actually attempting to make a topic in the future, it's not going to win you any victory points, so to speak, to your argument if this is all you can muster up as a counter-argument to a correct assessment of what the result of your fix would be. Until the loopholes that the hackers use to spawn gear and vehicles are plugged (sadly with a modified engine and not doable with a patch) there will be no point to any wipes but to waste work time for the people in charge of the hive. Please take a step back and think a bit before insulting people you don't know for no reason at all. Edit: Removed double quote, sorry guys.

Only issue I've noticed so far is that the heat measurement icon turns black once you start and warm yourself next to a fire. It stays black until you abort and login again. A bit annoying but so far I haven't had any real issues with the new patch other than that.

What is your favorite gun to use and why?
johan (DayZ) replied to generalginger27's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
1: SVD paired with a ghillie, rangefinder makes for on the fly range assessment; I don't even use my rangefinder anymore. 2: AKM due to massive damage, easy to find ammo and zeroing. 3: L85 very silent (80m sound range), good damage, ammo is common and the heat scope works wonders in scanning an area. Too bad the scope zoom is not adjustable. -
why are so many children playing this game?
johan (DayZ) replied to slartibartfast (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've had older people (20-40) saying they would put a (insert tool) in my head over voice comms in games like World of Tanks or EVE Online because I failed to back up their suicide dive in game or because I destroyed their ship/tank (this is like saying you shouldn't try and guess the right murderer in Cluedo). I'd rather have someone making out of place or bad jokes rather than threatening me. I'd rather play with someone over 50 or below 20 than playing with a guy talking shit about me or trying to be an asshole, tbh, and that attribute isn't age dependant. Edit: As for the exposion I made clear how I felt about it in my earlier post. This is merely to clear it up with the relevant posters. -
why are so many children playing this game?
johan (DayZ) replied to slartibartfast (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The graphical violence on a video game is hardly anything remote to what real life has to offer countless children each day and as such there are a vast number of children who will be growing up with memories of war and the memories that come with them. Video games have always paled in comparison to this. All you get is visual and auditory feedback, no sound, no real expression of fear or terror or any form of real emotion from your would be companions. There's no comparing. As for shooting your friend in the head I don't think you quite understand what the focus of these games are to the younger player. When I hear kids talking of such games (I get access to children daily, in a very non-scary way) they're more interested in who's the fastest, got the best awareness of their surroundings, etc. not who can splatter someone elses brain on the wall. It's the same form of competition kids get from a whole lot other things in life, be they expertise and understanding in mechanics, woodwork, sports, etc. The killing is not the focus of the game, it merely makes a very definite point of who succeeded or not. Having grown up with forums I wouldn't mind my children browsing through some if they had some smarts (no hurr durr meeting my new BF in front of the highway). If they really wanted to discuss something with me about their experiences they certainly could. It all comes down to remembering just what kind of dastardly rogue you were when you were young and then being able to understand them from their point of view. It's your job to teach, as a parent, to prepare and not to hinder. The difference is that some children live in the middle of the war in Syria and some in the relative safety of the so-called "developed world". Edit: Besides Arma 2 is hardly realistic... "Fall back, fall back, fall back, enemy spotted... at.... 23231" "Understood! EXTERMINATE EXTERMINATE!" Even the daleks sound fairly human in comparison to the arma 2 soldiers. :) -
What's with people and making such badly worded polls? "Answer number 1 and feel stupid! Or be smart and answer 2!" Durrrrr...

One of the most annoying intro's I've ever heard... But yeah... I remember when some other of his vids were posted here and he ranted about War Z or something... No... Never again.

Script Restriction #40 What is it?
johan (DayZ) replied to Tomas889's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Just try joining other servers for now. I had these issues before once in a while. Might have something to do with the server and the new update not going along v well. -
There are no "non-sniping servers" question answered. As for the OP he wrote a bit more than just a question so he got answered in turn. As for the hate people stand for what they type and what with the countless threads of people complaining about this and that it can get very tiresome very fast. But there you go. Question answered.

M24 hands down for the ease of usage and ammo availability.

I usually don't shoot first either. I've had quite a few friendly ecounters in this game. Mostly before the humanity patch, strangely enough. With all the bugged skins you're never sure who's who. :(
-
Because you were just next to him? It's like those "heroes" who give weapons to new guys and then get disappointed when they shoot them in the back. If you come up on someone then you're already committed towards fighting as you're quite intimidating for someone who's been quite shocked. He could've been shocked, could've been lagging or what not to cause him not to shoot but in the end he made the decision to try and save his own life, or so he thought. This goes for both him and you, he came in and saw you, decided that when you turned around he must shoot to save himself. Lucky for you he wasn't the better shot. Had he been outside with some cover in between then it might've worked better since you could've informed him of your intentions beforehand. That or he just wanted to shoot you for supplies. :)

Ban before i started playing?
johan (DayZ) replied to Joker427's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
People like you make me wish there was a "take beans" option. Seriously GTFO. -
All you need to find your way is a watch. I hope you he doesn't have one or you might be getting stalked by McGyver. Also as puppet said I'd rather be stuck in the woods without any idea of where I am...
-
Would take the AK any chance I have. Shooting people, zombies... It's better at it. Damage is lower but no zombie aggro.
-
I too have a duped tent... It creates one lee enfield without ammo in one of the most inaccessable place in the whole map. <_< Good on the L-85, though, my tip would be to have a second weapon for close combat, however, since the scope zooms in way too far. I mostly use it to engage targets between 200-500m as at 500m and beyond it's inaccurate -> impossible to hit with. Mind you that many people do get these items in a legit way. The current issue with the tents duplicating items over and over have, however, been screwing with things. Like so many others I am simply waiting for the standalone and merely trying to cope with the fact that atm it's very easy for people to get the top gear.

Geared up.... but worried....
johan (DayZ) replied to Unluckymonk's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Many servers will ban you for having one so I suggest switching to a fal, yes. Or a M4A3 CCO (very good rifle) -
Never saw any difference in run speed from me or my mates, I had the hero skin at the time and was well fed. My other friends had survivor and bandit respectively and one of them was starving. No difference in running speed (I was at the back). As for the humanity system it's broken atm what with it's tendency to reset and change skins between every login so atm it's not doing a whole lot for some people while seemingly working fine for others.
