So to start this off, a few weeks ago a few friends and myself decided we wanted our own server to play on. After much looking about we all decided to going with Villayer. We had read some good and bad reviews, but the pro's out weighed the con's so to speak so we took the next step and purchased a 50 slot server from them. All seemed fine for the first week or so and then the problems started. Problem 1- The Node that we were on was under an almost constant DDOS attack during the peak gaming time and went on till around 0200am. Now i do know that there is not much people can do against a DDOS they could have just moved us to another node but instead we get told 'we have found the server that is being attacked and removed it, please wait before making any decisions'. Well it was not fixed and the DDOS continued unabated. While the server may not have went down, it was totally unplayable due to the ping and desyinc that players would obtain (myself in the UK would get 800+ ping and 100k Dysinc). Add to that the fact that the server could and did randomly go offline for multiple hours at a time so we would be left with no server to play on only made matters worse. These problems carried on till problem 2 started yesterday afternoon at around 14:00 (GMT). problem 2- Since 14:00 yesterday afternoon, the server has been offline with no explanation as to why. The Villayer's ACP is accessible, however the server status is unknown and wont respond to anything at all. Ive had a ticket open since 1100am and at the time of writing this review (1700) still no response as to why the server has been offline for over 24 hours. Problem 3 - This one is more our fault than villayer's but anyhow. Due to a group of us paying for the server, only 1 person can pay so 1 friend volunteered to be the 'bill payer' however is not available all the time ( and rightly so as he is entitled to a life away from the computer). So, ive been trying to take care of things whilst he is unavailable. Well villayer wont deal with anyone accept the 'bill payer' apparently and so our saga continues. Problem 4- Villayer TS support. Do any of their support actually use it? I keep joining it to see if i can catch any reps online but today i have see the grand sum of 0 online. Now, stop me if I am wrong here but how can you class this as a game server when it is so unstable it makes Charles Bronson look like a model citizen?

UPDATE Server has now been moved to a new node. After one day however, it is showing as ERROR.

just tried to call them... spent 5 mins in the que as they were busy before they tel me 'due to the large volume of calls we are getting please leave your number and we will call back'.... really? WHY NOT SAY THAT AT THE START!

its such a poor service. I can only hope that they dont get access to the SA files when its released.

well i think people using common sense and decency would be enough tbh. But i mentioned those in another thread. Now ive got to go deal with the tears from a friend that's lost his towtruck on Epoch.. LOL

had some new players last night. Good fun :) Would just like to add, we wont hunt down players trying to get set up on our server unless u fire at us first :)

Wouldn't it be an awesome twist if Rocket/Razor were to tell origins to stop using DayZ material as they are not sharing their donations with BI/DayZ team?

Vilas, this will be my last post on the subject and i hope i don't offend you as it is not my intention to. I would follow what Razor said on page 1 as all this thread is becoming now is a rather confusing debate where some people are getting rather heated. The fact that you mentioned Origins will ( in many people's eyes) lower peoples respect towards you and lower your credibility in general.

Oh believe me vilas, due to DayZ i have discovered the wonderful game that is ARMA2. So i would say that the DayZ/Arma2 is a mutually benefiting relationship. With regards to the DayZHell you have linked. That is also something i strongly disagree with. Getting custom loadouts is, in my eyes a form of micro transactions and as such a P2W and should be removed. However, if as some people have stated they NEED donations to keep their server running due to costs, then how is that different to my group and our server? We have 7 friends that all chip in to pay for the server that we play on. We don't accept donations from the public as we don't need it at the moment. If we did, then we probably would. HOWEVER! There is a very distinct difference from accepting donations from people who play on your server to keep your (and their server) running to accepting money to use a MOD of a MOD. Also, with regards to epoch. We host our server through vilayer. We pay no extra for the EPOCH files than we would for the core DayZ files. You are more than welcome to come and join our server and you will see that there is NO bollocks asking for donations or any other crap. I only just seen your work in EPOCH today when a hello kitty smart car drove past me ( and got promptly blown the F£$K UP). EDIT.. dont know why text is messed up lol

Ok, well then I'm sorry for my ignorance however I'm a player and not a modder. Blame the people who modded DayZ for not acknowledging the original creators of said mod's. I only came to ARMA2 through DayZ so i would not have known about previous mods aimed at Pre-DayZ arma 2.

i don't know because i don't know who made what with regards to the Taviana. However, If someone contacted the original maker of Taviana and asked permission first and IF given permission made no money from it AND acknowledged the original creator then i would say of-course. However, i wont make any 'real' comments on the subject of the map as i don't know enough facts about it to make any statements. EDIT Just re-read the Taviana 3.0 map comment. i don't know who made the standard taviana map, but if it was not hicks and hicks did not get permission, then no he should not be allowed to release it. However, as I've already pointed out. You have thrown your lot in with Origins ( not flaming them or anything else) and as such, if they themselves do not follow the 3 BASIC rules, and you are seen to be accepting that by throwing your lot in with them. How do you expect anyone else to follow the rules?

im not disputing that... Please re-read my comments and you will see that i agree with what you said on the following points 1) No money should be made from other peoples hard work. 2) Permission should always be obtained before using mods 3) Credits should always be given. But, as has been stated before has Origins obeyed the 3 rules above too? That's right.

Agree 100% on this point So, in Origins, there is absolutely NO content taken from the DayZ core or anything else?

while i agree that credits should always be given for any data used in what ever form, why am i not surprised that the Origin name has cropped up again? I mean, i'm sure they are doing in some way/shape/form what you are telling other moders to not do. But, to make money from other peoples work imho is yeah, totally wrong. Origins..... the amount of bad things ive read about them on reddit..... no smoke with out fire and all that!

AS the title says, just like to ask for a little help from some people with more exp than me. With out going to much in depth, me and a few friends decided to rent our own EPOCH server with vilayer. All was good until 5 days ago. Now the server keeps going down and no one is able to join it. When i go to the ACP, it says it is running and i can stop/start it. However, if i try to DL the logs, it says the servers IP is not responding. Same if i try to view the stats and activity folder. On game tracker it is claiming that the server is dead! I would open a ticket, but we all chip in for the server ((5 of us) and only 1 pays and sadly he is unavailable at the moment. Is there something going on @Vilayer that im not aware of? DDOS for example as this is very strange. Almost as strange as being told the server is in Germany, but game tracker shows it as being in france 0.o http://www.gametracker.com/server_info/195.154.168.144:2322/ Thanks for any help you can give.
