Stronger crossbow bolts?
Slitter replied to oliverdesousa@hotmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
it is silent, and you can recover bolts, that's all. It's only usefull against single zeds standing in your way... edit: forgot ontopic^^ really like the idea of poison bolts. But not finding them, rather finding the tools to poison found bolts. And other players can use the same tools to make anti-poisons. -
Food/Drinks last longer, Melee Weapons
Slitter replied to buttgoblin2's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
That's the point where realism has to stick behind gameplay a little bit. I mean common. You can walk almost an hour without having to drink... don't tell me it's to hard to find something to drink in a hour o.O It's allready so easy to keep up with food & water that doing that would make it way to easy. maybe when as a result the spawn of food and drinks gets lowered drastically. Agree on the melee weapon part. not necessary more melee weapon spawns, but different melee weapons (that don't kill 1 hit) -
They would sent out all they had, but not to chernarus... look at that place, nothing of value there actually. They would rather focus on keeping big cities clear of zombies than go fight pointless wars against zombies in an area of no importance. edit: got ninja'd ^^

All i got from this is that a guy that definetly has no clue about coding or game development, cries about stuff lacking in a mod that is in alpha stage. And no there is no such thing as beeing "in alpha way to long"... what the hack are you talking about. Just because you went to the game with the expectation to find a polished zombie survival doesn't mean it is that. Do people research anything before they buy a game (for those who bought arma2 for dayz and complain now) or dl a mod? You are basically complaining that rocket does indeed sleep, because his team isn't that big ( i also don't know if he is even alone in terms of coding but i guess not).

The Difference Between A Good Bandit and a Bad Bandit
Slitter replied to alienxxi's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
i met a total number of 4 bad bandits yesterday. 2 standing still on top of a firestation (thx for free supplies) and their 2 buddies shooting at me with snipers from range (felt like they shot like >40 times without hitting me) just to close in at me by the supermarket, where they didn't expect me to fight back (well they were wrong). That are bad bandits... if you want to be the badass sniper bandit, learn how to use a sniperrifle -.- -
Sniper problem solved!! I think?
Slitter replied to Itchy (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Not even that, we are PRE-Alpha actually. -
Snipers ........its kinda like this.
Slitter replied to puppetmaster11's topic in New Player Discussion
And this people is why you never crawl across an open field... it doesn't make it harder for snipers at all. -
It was never meant to be a zombie survival only. There even is a info on the mainpage saying something along the lines of 2million murders so getting shot is to be expected. When there wouldn't be people shooting the game would become way to easy because right now, zombies are no real threat at all. People play a game about surviving in a post apocalyptic environment and whine when getting shot. Somebody missed the point of the game. Btw 14mil survival attempts only 2mil murders (and 300000 bandit kills) so only every 7th person get's killed by PvP, that's more than exceptable seeing that so far i only died in firefights.

No, it's not about carebears. You are playing the game in a way that is not intended -> you are exploiting. Easy as that. Just that a lot of people are doing it doesn't make it right in any way. While i would not like to have my data stored on a single server, i would love to see a timer implemented that doesn't let you join another server than the first one you played for X amount of minutes after you logged out from the server. edit: here you go Says it all? Rocket doesn't want server hopping.
-
hmmm.... now there is a question left open... Did the people come in here to say "go back to CoD" by themselves or did they just say it because you posted it :X @topic: I think the map is to small (but also the playernumber is small so its actually okay)
-
Because it's total realistic to hop dimensions Seriously though. If you feel the need to "server hop" because "you don#t find what you are looking for" the mod is not for you. It's also considered an exploit. Just because you are a lesser evil than cheaters or combat dc, doesnt mean it is intented to be played that way or that it isn't an exploit. There is no big deal in not having a homeserver, but it is definetly not intended that you just hop to another one during a session, just to check the same lootspots (or camps) again and i hope they will implement something hindering people from server hopping. Well, on the other hand, why does it bother me that you play that way? It doesn't actually, it's just a matter of principles i guess. i just can't understand players that do stuff like that to get what they want the easy way...

Anyone else feel zombies still aggro heavily?
Slitter replied to Freekill0's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Actually i think how they spot is fine, have yet to aggro a zombie when looting a town in 1.7.2.3 Just the not aggroing on gunfire needs to be fixed, else the zombies are fine. (My opinion, just don't rush anything, you can crawl by zombies like 10m away and they won't ever recognize you) -
I am of the opinion that the number actually shows you the distance in meters at which zombies can aggro you not a percentage visibility

Zombies are overpowered since patch 1.7.2 (Video as proof)
Slitter replied to wietse02's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Other players beeing the main threat has nothing to do with zombies beeing a threat, too. While you will always be able to outsmart zombies you can't always outsmart players. That's where you are right, zombies will never actually be the biggest threat. So i don't know what that has to do with the thread. The uy you quoted is a little bit right that rocket tries to make the zombies a threat, too. Which is a good thing. Player threat will last until PvP is out of the game (so let's hope that that will never happen) -

Slitter replied to wietse02's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well you could also argue, that if the virus they are infected with just turns them to super human beasts (or something liek that ^^). Why don't they attack each other. But if they have some kind of zombie "pack" sense they might see you from 500m but only recognize you are a survivor from 150m. -

Slitter replied to wietse02's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That's actually what i meant... crouchwalking keeps you at around 60m visibility which is a huge distance. Crouching was way to effective in earlier patches. You could go ~30m by a zombie looking your way and still not recognizing there is someone. But you actually are quite visible when crouching so it should attract zombies. -

Slitter replied to wietse02's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
And that's how it should be in my opinion. Last patch zombies were only a minor annoyance nothing more. But Zombies should be a threat. And btw i have not much of an issue walking into towns looting them without aggroing zombies. You just can't run in and expect not to get any attention -

Slitter replied to wietse02's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Wait...you write its about 150m... your visibility was ~133 when you aggro the zombie. Seems reasonable (your max visibility number in the video was ~165) edit: also i think it was a distance <150m -
I always find cars atm. Mostly hidden in forests that seem to be far from valuable loot spawns BUT are inbetween 2 valuable lootspots which is not a safe place to hide them.
-
Why? As far as i know they are just infected humans. humans can swim and climb ladders.

Is streamsniping considered cheating?
Slitter replied to Bladerunner09's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Didn't rocket say that any form of "meta" gaming is allowed (e.g. infiltrating TS to know where they at). So i guess watching stream and killing them is just a form of "meta" gaming -
Only issue i might have with that is that i often talk to people over VOIP that are not playing dayZ while i am playing. So the whole time i talk with them about stuff that happened in my office or other stuff (some trashtalk too^^) I would be giving everyone my position while i am not actually attempting to talk within DayZ I know i could just mute my mic in game(which i would consider as exploiting) but what if i suddenly need to talk in game and have to unmute my mic again... It's a really nice idea, but it seems not really possible to enforce.

To those who say "oh it's only an alpha blabla "
Slitter replied to mkrrr's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well, it depends. If someone is making a suggestion, you are right. If someone is flaming how he spent money on this game and isn't pleased with it, you are wrong. (Both just examples)
