    Give Tents/Vehicles Inventory Space Counters

they dont disappear, they fall to the ground (in vehicle and tent cases.) and if an item disappears from your backpack because you're trying to stuff more into it than it can handle, it's your own damn fault. it has a counter on it for christ' sake. id like to see the backpack dissapear, what do you think happens when you force things into one? it rips, and becomes useless. one smart-ass remark deserves another right alex?

Niemands "Cleaning a Village aka Settling down"

+1 from me of course, this will need tweaking and a few other ideas, but it's still a great concept player-made "forts" or bases would be great, especially with the forced log in/out distance of 500-1000m from a village included. i hate the fact that you painstakingly clear out buildings, just to have someone appear out of thin air, killing one if not all members in your group....is that fuckin' realistic? no. id assume the people that are complaining about this don't belong to a group, or it's a very small group of 2-5.

    Arm, leg, and Headbands.

actually it does change things, because your suggestion means that all they have to do is click the item, change the color and "blend" in, even if the group you're infiltrating accounts for everyone in the group before, during, and after a mission. the seconds it takes for you to ask 'who are you,' or 'is that you xxxxxxx' means you're already dead. im not saying it should be ridiculously difficult to change something like a piece of cloth, but it shouldn't be easy either. in the marines, if someone wants to "blend" in with a squad or platoon, they have to mimic the placement of magazine, grenade, radio, and dump pouches. patches and insignia, as well as grooming standards, eyewear, etc. it should require some intel and pre-planning. not just click, click, wait....bang bang booom.

    Thermal Weapons

'I dont know why you guys are arguing about this weapon because its to OP. It is extremely rare its not like they are laying all over cherno and elektro. Heli crash's are supposed to have good loot. Just leave the gun.' As soon as this weapon is taken out of the game because it doesn't "fit the mood" of dayz, people will bitch about not being able to see the guy in a ghillie suit equipped with a silenced weapon shooting you in the face from 50-300m. It's useless in the day time for a reason...that reason is because it's meant to be used at night time. It counters the above described player, whom thinks you'll never see him. Everything that's in this game must have something that is equal to, or better than it. To not keep this in mind means at one point, the game will be one-sided depending on who has the best gear. You can kill someone who has a M9 SD with your makarov. But if they're playing at night and have a ghillie, nvg's, and a silenced weapon they're pretty much invisible. This is why there's thermal in the game. It's only useful at night, this is what doesn't make it op.

if you need a scientific/graphing calculator to do simple addition and subtraction....this, or any other non e-rated game is not for you

    Arm, leg, and Headbands.

i think you should have to at least suicide to change the symbols, location, or color of the band. makes it too easy for someone to infiltrate your team, or just cause enough confusion to ambush from a safe distance. a person should have to at least conduct some reconnaissance, follow you to your base camp, memorize the coordinates, return to their camp and offload supplies, etc. basically, take all the grieving possibilities out of this addition.

    PvP doesn't exist

you only get military grade equipment from military installations. and in most cases, these have been meticulously maintained. ill give you credit for arguing the coastal placement of some rifles would degrade them, it just makes sense. but the further you go away from the coast, the greater the loot is as well as the danger. maybe in order to make this "maintenance suggestion" canon, rocket could include armory facilities, and logistic boxes (when we shipped our weapons to iraq, we coated them in lubricant and sealed them up in plastic then that went into giant wooden boxes.) props on pointing out the humidity and salt content of coastal cities. hell, i was in camp lejeune for four years and i forgot about it lol
  8. SepticTank

    PvP doesn't exist

Maintenance yes, durability....hell no. You can fire 8-10k rounds from an m4 with a 1/9 twist rate, before it even begins to show signs of wear. If not properly maintained, a weapon penalizes you with less accuracy and damage, and also has a chance to explode on you. It's realistic. Let's say for every 10% of needed maintenance, there's a 5% chance to explode due to unstable pressurization.

    PvP doesn't exist

But that's how it is in real life. Three shots of 5.56 to an unarmored person (center mass,) will either kill them due to shock, blood loss, suffocation (sucking chest wound,) or just plainly kill them. It's even less with higher caliber weapons like .45ACP, 7.62, .338 Lapua, etc. You can't say that this isn't pvp. This is not a game that gives you "avatar" strength. Your survival is tantamount to your skill, cunning, ruthlessness, knowledge, etc. I believe this game is, when concerning the idea of "realistic warfare," as close as it gets right now. There are minor imperfections like dupes/glitches/bugs or being conjured into existence out of thin air, but those hopefully will be resolved in time.

    Reducing ammo = reduce murders

E-z, you can think I'm a dick all you want, but whom of us appears to be one with such language? You may not agree with what I say, but with my military experience, I do believe I have just a little more of a weighted opinion than some others. I know exactly what it takes to overthrow a government, maintain positive control of a hostile situation or resolve a potential one, employ escalation of force, coordinate fire and maneuver, gain and maintain fire superiority, etc. What I suggest, like a few others in multiple other threads, is that Non-Lethal weapons be added to the game (tazers, rubber bullets/pellets, batons, knock-out gas, etc.) These would not kill you, nor make even a medium amount of sound. They would, however, render you unconscious for an undetermined amount of time (between 1-5 minutes.) The time limit, in my opinion, is more than enough to disarm a hostile target, begin egress, and escape possible danger. There need to possibilities for escalation of force and force continuum, more so than what can currently be implemented in this game. Voice and warning shots currently are not enough to completely resolve a situation without ending someone's life in the end. Dallas, perhaps, after the non-lethal suggestion has been implemented, the slight limitation of ammunition could be possible (reduced in order to attempt a balance between deadly and non-lethal options.) I will agree that perhaps before this game/mod became so popular, the bandits were of a different class/somewhat honor-bound. But unfortunately, with change of civility, so must the actions of multiple groups change to contend with this.

so you mean to tell me none of you can memorize just a few numbers, or refer to it when viewing a certain repairable vehicle from a safe distance? im not trying to be an asshole when i ask you this, but, do you really need your hand held that much? You're very welcome Reaps.

    Reducing ammo = reduce murders

Edo, you're telling me what I already know. This already takes place, but on a smaller scale, with groups ranging from 3 to 20. Until the game mechanic is changed, this is the only way to combat "bandits." It's nothing new or the possibility of being "new." In fact, I think from now on I'm calling them psychopaths (what one person views as a bandit or team of bandits, I consider a squad that doesn't want to risk letting a man go that could potentially belong to another group.) To me a psychopath is that one man that just kills all day long, for the sheer joy of seeing the pink mist. You ask what that one man will do when against 30? Alt+F4. The smart psycho, will kill one, wait and dc. Even if a 30 second timer is included, ghillie snipers will not be found within that time limit, IF he's smart. If not, you will find him. EDIT: I'd also like to make a very valid point when combat concerns 30 people. You lose track of one another EXTREMELY easy. People can "blend" in with the group, for seconds or minutes before throwing that frag grenade and destroying 10-15 of you (because when in a group this big, even a little dispersion causes panic and paranoia when EVERYONE looks more or less the same.) Meanwhile, the other three members of his group begin firing M240's with intersecting lines of fire, that lay down a wall of lead that kills most if not all of you. And then come the hatchets, those lovely, infinite attack hatchets. Because if they serpentine, stop and start run all the way to you, you will have wasted all your ammo. But hey, they can still collect all your friends' ammunition and weaponry.

    Reducing ammo = reduce murders

North American 1, find me. Also, I've failed to see where I "accused" him of anything, care to help me understand what you mean? All I've done is give him a scenario where there is a possibility of having a form of government, or lawful and just rule, then reminded him of what he set into motion. If you limit ammunition and weaponry, you limit the ability for anyone with honorable intentions to police others. It's counter productive to ask for something that destroys any potential for effective law enforcement. Perhaps you and others don't want to see what this world would really be like if it did fall apart. Sure, there would be some that group together and attempt to reinstate what government they can, but there will be just as many that curse it and damn it with every fiber of their being (just like irl, right now.) I'm not being an asshole, in fact, it's quite the opposite. I've given a logical argument to his suggestion, and provided scenarios where his request would be ill-advised.

    Reducing ammo = reduce murders

......sigh.....no...... there's no reason for this, you WILL die, it's only a matter of when and where that's in question. get in a group, shoot on sight because of group welfare being at risk, become the bandit that you want to nerf, and realize this game is exactly as it should be minus glitches/dupes/bugs. unless this game turns into Anno 2070 where a government is eventually established and global votes take place for presidents and policies, THIS is it. do you realize that this is a perfect example of what happens when there are no leaders, no government, no laws? now you want to have that power, that order, that chain of command, and those law enforcement officials....right? guess what, you can't have that because YOU want to limit ammunition and weapons. now that melee weapons are in the game, they WILL kill you, just to see what you have on you. if its nothing they can use, hey there's always beans, cooked meat, canteens, bandages, and all the other shit you've just spent 3 hours gathering. there is no way around player killing, accept it.

    Vehicles: hotwiring & keys...

I definitely approve of this thread and suggestion. I'd like to see this, as well as an addition that forces you to move away from a city/building to log in/out. It's downright annoying when another player is just conjured into existence after you've cleared every room in a house/building.
  21. thats the same as me telling you to go to the doctor because i can hear wind in your ears, or see through them to the other side seriously, did you just skim through those links you posted, or did you take the time to read them? obviously this is a rhetorical question, because we all know the answer.
  22. - USE/CONSUME ITEM: RCLICK ITEM ICON IN INVENTORY (specifically the icon, rather than the name in the list) that was the very first link you posted in response to me fucking reading, how does it work?
  23. so...the thought of searching through the forum never occurred to you? the forum even has this nice "Search" option, try using it instead of posting yet another useless thread that takes up space

This game is becoming less fun.

I'll tell you what snipers in treelines have to contend with, then I'll offer you my opinion on the roaming zombies idea. Snipers have to be aware of "counter-snipers." These are the folks that watch you move to a better position to provide covering fire, overwatch, intel, etc. There is not one single position on the map that will provide complete coverage of your groups current operational area, as well as cover and concealment for you. You will need to move, and in most cases, your enemy will be watching. There are groups that travel via the treelines, and unless they are within 20-30 meters of you, you will not hear them. Your attention will be drawn to providing coverage to your group, that is immediately in front of you. If you move your line of sight from them, they die because of you. Even if there is one man providing rear security for you, he will be out-manned, out-gunned, and out-thought. Sitting in one position for long periods of time, may cause you to feel extremely paranoid; twigs snap, birds quickly fly from tress, wind blows and masks footsteps, rain soaks through and causes you to get cold more quickly, etc. These are only a few of the drawbacks to overwatch/"guardian angel" roles, there are no doubt many more. Having roaming zombies in the woods would further drag server/game performance down, reveal player positions unjustly, aggravate anyone who thinks about a zombie apocalypse rationally (Why would zombies be in remote locations in the first place, they would be as they are now, in cities. Any secluded place would only have survivors, because it's a secluded place....)

    Lack of an Authentic World

In my dayz world, I keep in mind that this is a "social experiment." To me, that means that the Russian/Czech Republic (I guess?) is in control of the whole map. Their government pretty much kidnapped tens of thousands of people (collectively, not just from one nation) from other countries, performed chemical and biological tests on them, rendered those who survived unconscious and individually dropped them off along the coastline. For those who failed the tests, they use barge like vessels to "mass offload" the zombies on the map. They're essentially trying to study what the different nationalities of the world would do, if in fact, this were to happen. Will they all band together? Will they segregate one another and fight amongst themselves? Will they go bat-shit crazy and begin to murder without provocation? The answers to these questions would, ultimately, either approve or disapprove the hostile takeover of other countries by way of chemical/biological warfare. Now, in order to best simulate real world actions and characteristics of every nationality, would you be satisfied with limiting the amount of weaponry to only one type? NO, you need to gauge just how familiar the average population of a specific country is with their weaponry. After-all, you are eventually going to cross oceans/borders and slay the remnants of each country....why not know what to expect? This is why I believe that weapons should not be limited in this game, in fact, I believe more should be included from different nations.
