How much can a chopper take in damage?
=FTS= Sgt. Lyrebird replied to sanktas's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Aim to the Rotors, one well placed shot on either rotor with the AS50 will send them spiraling to their death. -
Helping a player with a few questions
=FTS= Sgt. Lyrebird replied to Saviour's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Just a couple answers. 1. Anywhere not suggested by someone outside your squad. Try to find a dense forest area with low traffic. 2. http://dayzdb.com/map you can find vehicles at those locations there assuming someone hasnt grabbed it and stashed it somewhere. 3. http://dayzdb.com/map also has loot spawn information but to break it down a bit; Heli crash sites, Deer stands, Military loot spawns (Airfields for example), and Camo/Ghillies can commonly be found in the local Bars/Restaurants found in major cities. 4. A couple snipers/overwatch, someone with a CQC weapon to cover the immediate area of the snipers (and preferably with a range finder to give estimates on the fly), and the rest of the crew on assault with CQC weapons to raid the town. Hope it helps a bit. Happy hunting  -
Having difficulty?? We got your back.

Love these guys. Don't know if I would be still playing DayZ if it weren't for them. So the story goes: I've had been playing DayZ a little less than a week. A personal friend of mine got me into the game so we'd frequently jump on skype and play together. Over the course of my first week my character never survived more than a few hours of playtime and on only one occasion did I find another player willing to team up (and not betray me later mind you). After we died somewhere northeast, I respawned at elektro one evening. I was running solo and hit up a red residential building. It was the first time I found an ALICE pack and I thought it was the greatest thing ever. I continue looting the town without any encounters with another player. At this point I had my ALICE, a sidearm, food, drink, and all my necessary tools. I start to head toward the north fire station in elektro and as I'm crouching up the ladder a military zed pops out and smacks me unconscious. Fearing for my life and not knowing I could Alt F4 to save it at this point, I wait as the zombie eats chunks off of me. I wake back up and unload my magazine into the zed, bandage myself, and log out with <1000 blood. With the fear of dieing to lose my new ALICE pack I didn't log back in and instead hopped on the forums hoping to find a group of some sorts. I stumbled across this thread, got the TS3 info from Fishmitts, and he moved me down into a channel with four other guys. After giving them my location, I waited as this small rescue force came half way across the map just to help out an inexperienced player that they didn't even know. Volun Shade and his crew cleared out the fire station and gave me the all clear to log back in. They promptly fixed my broken leg and gave me a blood transfusion. I was recruited into his squad and ran countless missions with him including base location, town raids, airfield raids, and other rescue missions. I soon became the second in command to Volun's squad and a leader of my own squad in the weeks that came. It's nice to have people you can count on if things go south. People you can play with consistently and trust. People that wont shoot first and ask questions never. =FTS= Sgt. Lyrebird, Leader of Squad Three -

May I ask how you got bandicam to record ArmA 2? The last time I tried it only recorded what was behind ArmA 2's window.. The only program I've gotten to work with ArmA 2 is Fraps, and it doesn't cooperate with my computer so well. -

Well I did notice the warning when enabling the overlay which stated that Anti-Cheat programs may detect it as a "hack" but with everyone else using it flawlessly, I figured it would be OK. I'd hate to have to disable it when I get my ArmA 2 back up and running as it is quite a convenience. -

Yeah, I have sent a ticket to support thanks to Drogur's link. I did notice this however: So we will see what happens. -

I'm aware nothing can be done from rockets side. Was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else or has any info on it. I will gladly buy another copy of ArmA 2 solely for the DayZ mod/community. Just hoping I can sort this out so it doesn't happen again. -

Well, I finally got to hop back on DayZ after a few days. I log in, run around elektro for ten minutes looking for some tools, tab out to check dayzdb map for vehicle spawns on my way up north, and upon tabbing back in I get this. Could this be due to our server not running the latest DayZ (1.7.2.4) but instead 1.7.2.3? My teamspeak overlay? I don't understand why this happened. Am I doomed to buy a new copy of ArmA 2 so I can play again? :| -
How long will a dropped backpack stay?

Thanks for the info qweets. So are you saying player loot piles/packs survive server restarts? -

=FTS= Sgt. Lyrebird replied to =FTS= Sgt. Lyrebird's topic in New Player Discussion
Just a bug that makes it disappear? Have you tried dropping just an item pile? When you say a while later. Around how long would you say? Would I be safe to assume my item pile/pack will be there 30 minutes to an hour later? -
Title says it all. Basically wondering if I drop my pack outside a town while I go in to loot, will the pack still be there when I get back? How long until the pack de-spawns? Also, what if I drop just a loot pile, will it stay there (and for how long)?
