I was wondering if it had been considered yet to make perishable items go 'mouldy' if you get them wet, for instance if you are running through the rain and have bags of rice in your backpack then it gets mouldy after a while and would make you sick of you consumed it. Other things could be affected by the rain also, maybe even have it so you have to have the item / food out of the backpack for it to get wet, because I guess it's stands to reason some backpacks would be waterproof. Maybe if you use the compass in the rain it goes rusty and you have trouble seeing the markings, so if it's raining and you want to eat rice or use things like the compass you would have to find cover / go inside a building. just a thought, wondering what others think.

To stop Kill On Sight, we should make life more valueble
Psyl3nt replied to super_shadow's topic in Suggestions
The more valuable you make life the more joy for the bandit that wastes you. -
Just has this happen to me. Was playing on a gameservers server.

Had a bit of a search couldn't find anything on forums - are there tents in the SA yet ? (ones we can use), I'm sure I picked one up at one point but considering the evenings drinks I might have been on the mod... Having the ability to save gear in a tent or otherwise might alleviate some of the banditry also, as at the moment once you are 'full' you have nothing left to do except fight. With some storage you can offload your gear and go scouting again, giving us a bit more purpose.
-
it's more the storing stuff that I'm interested in, currently i'm 'full', so it's time to go on a death mission, off to the airfields and other hot spots to either kill or be killed and start again. Still kind of fun, but yeah, would be more fun I think when we can store things and go scouting again or establish a base camp to work from.

i'd like to see it for when others are using my PC, my sons friends often play the games on my PC while over, currently I won't let them use my dayZ to play together because I will lose what I'm up to / position / gear / whatever. Not so bad at the moment being in alpha and not expecting characters to last, but once it's a full game . . . . .

How about Balota airfield military loot getting removed?
Psyl3nt replied to Twixxer's topic in General Discussion
Once there are more objects in the game, I think the m4 won't be the 'best in the game' anymore, it's just with the limited loot tables at the moment it is... (the mosin could be the best, once it has a scope on it, it's long distance lethal). -
How about Balota airfield military loot getting removed?
Psyl3nt replied to Twixxer's topic in General Discussion
the loot locations seem fine. Everyone has the same opportunity to get the same loot, how they use it is up to them. I've said it many times, there is nothing you can do to stop KOS / spawn killers on the coast, if the loot is further away they will go there and come back. At least having something near spawn gives everyone a chance. Leaving everything up north just turns that location into the meat grinder. It's not just 'some' players who KOS, it's ALL of you ! I've had no interactions with anyone where someone didn't get killed, except one where I was armed and someone else was not. On AU servers, it's KOS or be KOS. That's your choice, so if you want to have any interaction with anyone not in your own clan / team then you best have a weapon and hope they don't. Thing is the RP side of it gets killed when you let someone travel with you and they just log out scared that you are going to kill them later. There is no solution to this, it's the way the community plays, the players who all claim they don't KOS are most likely lying and just pissed off that they haven't had the upper hand and lost the fight more often than not. I know players just like it, "look look there's someone... get them ! " , until it happens to them, "why the hell did they kill me ! " - go to forums ... rage about KOS. You want it to change ? - then stop doing it. -
How about Balota airfield military loot getting removed?
Psyl3nt replied to Twixxer's topic in General Discussion
Those players who do want to head up north can do with the weapons to defend themselves from the deathmatch types, it is an even playing ground when everyone can access it. You won't stop the new spawn killers by removing loot, you will only stop the other players from having similar powered weapons in the same areas. So you want everyone to play your way and have the battle zone in an area that you like ? It's no good to make one area the military zone, it just turns it into a meat grinder, at least now it's kind of spread out from one end of the map to the other, either place you can get good weapons, so people spread out, you don't just have three quarters of the server rushing to the one place. It would actually make the pVp worse I think. -
Kill on sight... my group is doing it now
Psyl3nt replied to Nariquo (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
translated OP; got kos, tried to do the same, didn't get the needed 'revenge' so make a statement to 'punish' people for making them mad. -
Would be good, are people really going to have characters strategically placed around the map waiting for combat to arise there so they can combat log effectively ? seems a bit of a stretch to me, I'd imagine 2 or 3 characters would be the maximum. Wouldn't be a bad idea, sometimes you just don't feel like starting fresh and can have others to play on with before having to.

There is loot near all the spawns, you do have to run the gauntlet though, cherno, elektro, balota, etc .. there is a reason they are death traps, but once you get in and out you can move away from them. I don't consider a character 'alive' until he's looted one of the main towns and gotten away with the gear.

How about Balota airfield military loot getting removed?
Psyl3nt replied to Twixxer's topic in General Discussion
Was just answering the OP. But on the rest of the thread, you won't stop those kinds of players no matter what you do. They will happily travel for hours if need be to camp spawns and players they know are in a weak position. At least it gives the 'good guys' starting out something to fight back with, as I guess many of those players would spend their time up north and not be interested in hanging around the spawn areas. -

Psyl3nt replied to Twixxer's topic in General Discussion
I guess if you wan't to avoid the pvp nature (a 'hot' area) then you can just avoid it ? Some places are bound to be death traps. I'm not a fan of KOS, but I don't think removing gear to shutdown a hot spot is a good idea. It's a military area, it stands to reason that military gear would be found there. -
Detrimental health effects around military loot areas.
Psyl3nt replied to MrNomadic76's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I don't mind the idea, maybe balota or the NW-airfields were being used to transport nuclear waste, or plutonium for secret military weapons programs. When the outbreak happened there was no maintenance and the failsafes no longer worked, waste leaked out around the area ??? There can always be a way to justify it. -
fast and highly observant zombies are bad for the game
Psyl3nt replied to Antiklimax's topic in General Discussion
Hordes is a definite do want. Every time I think of what would be actually scary I think of hordes of them, if you are sneaking into town and you climb something then realise you are smack in the middle of about 200 zeds with more wandering in . . . . Also any gunfire at all should attract basically all zeds for miles around. -

Psyl3nt replied to Antiklimax's topic in General Discussion
That's going to be very hard to do, hope he can. The zombies movement has always been glitchy because of the speed and tracking ability they have. I guess we'll have to wait and see if they can pull it off. I'm not against them being the 'other' kind of zombie / infected, but I like it to 'fit'. -

Psyl3nt replied to Antiklimax's topic in General Discussion
I've always thought the zombies should be slow, idiot things, but tough and persistent. Basically they shouldn't really be much of a danger unless they are in groups or you get cornered. The zombies in dayz have always been very fast and athletic, it's almost like they got more physically fit after they died and began rotting. (see Dead nation mod for arma III for what I think are 'good' zombies, seems a bit more real if they're larger in numbers but dumb and slow.) -
Not sure if it is saying that the disease is caused by eating human, or it was just spread in this case because they ate people who were infected with it. . . . (and now I've just googled "does eating human flesh make you sick" my NSA profile must be looking good. . .

Going the realism argument, you certainly would remember your friends names when you see their face, often even from a distance, everyone just jumps straight over the fact that NO ONE wants to see a nametag on every player regardless of whether they are in your friends list, NO ONE wants to be able to scan a treeline and pick up players positions. What I think people want (including myself) is the ability to identify friends NO ONE ELSE so that it reduces the likely accidental killing and makes meeting up in towns easier. I see this game as a 'group' game, it's kind of meant to be played in groups, but currently there is no grouping system / no way to meet up without spending a large amount of time meeting up. On a week night by the time we have met up it's time to end the game.
-
Are you saying that it's not a good idea to be able to spawn near your friends (by choice) when you all join a server together ? The idea is so that you can play as a group without the hour or more running around trying to meet up. Some of us don't spend every bit of free time playing and can't spend that amount of time just looking for each other, might as well play solo.
-
Meeting up is hard enough in this game, trying to get 4 or 5 players hooked up is a few hours worth of mucking around. Love to see an option where you can all spawn together. Took us 3 hours to group up last night, then we all got taken out by a sniper from some where. rinse repeat.

Play from Australia here, on AU marked servers showing 20 - 90 max ping. It happens with every item we move from our backpacks to the ground.

Before going on an overclocking attempt, make sure your system is up to date, has latest drivers etc . The specs you have should run it very well at 'normal' settings, don't max out anything, turn off AA (FXAA) whatever it has and even (*gasp) drop the resolution a little if that still doesn't help.

Encountering zombie dogs in the forest at night would be some very scary shit.....
