The Difference Between the Bandit Forum and Survivor Forum
Psyl3nt replied to AllYoYens's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Don't ask . . . . . . Huh ? - it says for 18+ only. . . . -
With or without it, it seems to me that I have more friendly encounters than not. Perhaps it's the servers I play on *shrug* . The only times I seem enter into a pvp war is if we are "surprised", neither knows the intention of the other and starts shooting (me included). If there is time to see / communicate then most times it ends up friendly.

Opening a door should not break, bleed, shock, and severe blood loss
Psyl3nt replied to Northeast's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
yeah this happens a bit, best thing is to just stay away from the door when you open it, don't be prone and open a gate or door back onto yourself. Do you ? -
Issue also arises that some players may not be "liked" and also in a roundabout way get "blacklisted". I don't always play on the same server, in fact I am probably on a different server depending on what time of day I am playing / how long I am playing for, connection issues, / where are my friends playing and so on. It just seems to me that this could create a huge bottleneck. In teh first few weeks it would probably be ok, but I can see people getting a little "lazy" with it after a while and either not sending the passwords, or not changing them. Kudos for coming up with something though, it's not a "bad" idea, I just think it has some areas that could cause problems.

You get pwned hard in that game eh ? - (usually it's the ones who make those comments cause they had their ass handed to them so many times, noob rage and go play something else). On a side note, the hackers do infest all the CoD servers, but CoD has the ability to "spectate" players, and the admin can ban them, so it's not really much of a problem :)
-
Very annoying when placed at the bottom of stairs or in a way that makes it near impossible to get the "remove wire fencing" dialog. I fail to see it's use really, if your not on the server then people are going to take your "stuff", if it takes them an extra 5 minutes to remove the wire it makes little difference.

A note to the constant cry babies
Psyl3nt replied to Inception.'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Why are you posting this ? Do you really think that anyone is going to read your post and think "oh wow, he is sooo right " - and change their post habits ? Or do you think it's more likely that your post is going to start a bit of a flame war ? hmm , doesn't take a genius to work it out, so you're either naive or troll, which one is it ? -
A note to the constant cry babies
Psyl3nt replied to Inception.'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Are you suggesting as "bug testers" that we stop reporting the bugs ? (Each complaint / report, shows how common the problem is, if people stopped posting about it, the devs may just think it's either a small problem that needs no immediate attention, or that it needs none). Ask yourself this, why are posting a thread crying about people crying ? -
Son and I trying to both play in the same server, get kicked
Psyl3nt replied to Mykee36's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
try one joining, then the other goes to their network properties disable then re-anable the adapter and try to join. I know it's very much a "have you tried turning it off and back on again", but I've had some issues in other games with that kind of thing and sometime doing that lets us play. (also fiddling with Upnp, some games like it off, some like it on) Sorry can't offer too much more than that. Good luck. -
Just sent this to BattleEye - honestly it made me feel better.
Psyl3nt replied to laramie's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
cool, now write one better, as you obviously are far superior to them and have the solution. I eagerly await your release.- 17 replies

The hackers NEED to be dealt with.
Psyl3nt replied to alex3408's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's people that are broken. The whole idea of an anti-cheat being needed for online gaming amazes me, most malicious forms of computer kung-fu I can see as being somewhat useful in some way, it mostly has a reason, but cheating in a video game is the definition of pointless, it has absolutely no "gain". It's pure trolling, if people want to "win" that badly there are single player games / easy settings / a number of ways to feel that you are "winning", so going online with a cheat is just to make people angry, are the forums not enough for doing that ? - do we really need it in game ? Possibly they think people are looking at them thinking "wow awesome", but really it's closer to "wow, how sad, they need help" -
That's how they "win". Cheaters are like kids acting stupid for attention, it's best to just ignore them, eventually their hollow fun will be boring or they will be banned, if everyone gives up and makes the gaming experience worse all round, then it just compounds the issue and kills a game we all profess to love playing. Not that I'm against trolling :) that's what the forums are for though
-
Basically, force quitting the game in a fight / because your going to die = not allowed, cheating = not allowed, errr other than that, go for it. Playing within the parameters of the "game" you can do anything you are able to, it's totally up to you.

..what can you say to that . .it's fucked. Hopefully there is fewer of them now with the updates, it's been said a number of times though that you wont be banned for a hacker interacting with you, it's the hacker that will be banned (that's the plan anyway). may the fleas of a thousand camels infest their genitalia .

Undocumented features for the lulz- What are they?
Psyl3nt replied to Noise (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Perhaps it's just random appearance type stuff, not actually "bandit skins". That could be cool because you could identify a person roughly by the way they look, say for instance if one of your group is moving around the same area as you and you come across each other unexpectedly it could save "accidents" :) And make things a little more realistic in the process as it makes sense that not everyone look exactly the same. -
in name and nature it seems . .

woof woof ?

Have to add, sorry for being spiteful but : If this is legit, I will most certainly piss my pants laughing so hard . . . . . . .

Exactly, notice the IF, you seem to expect everyone to believe you and the others, you want us to "see things from your side of the fence", but it seems you are unwilling to do the same. It's not "narrow-minded" at all to think all these people are cheats who have been caught, I cannot say I've seen 11000 + posts about it, which is the number that BE advertised it had banned. I don't know if that was all a result of this last day, or if there are significant numbers back to june 5. It is entirely believable that a large force of people who did not expect to get banned for using "safe" "[uNDETECTED]" cheats would come to the forums en masse and attempt to get out of it, figuring that the more that do it the higher the chance they will get unbanned. There are those on both sides who want to just hurl abuse, but identifying yourself as one of them does not help your cause, it just makes it look more likely that the ban is legit.
-
I can't say it didn't cross my mind that I "might" be banned, but I have a firm belief that IF this is truly an error then of course it will be fixed, it might take a little while but there is no way this would occur and they just leave it. So with that in mind, I played as I play normally, I didn't do anything "special" or different, apart from the editing of the startup parameters to include the CPU count, the testing of what happens when you meet up with a hacker I simply cannot reproduce, and the server hopping, I highly doubt that would cause it, I did have suspicion about a script that may be run by the DayZ mod that checks if a player is under fine as they log out or if they are injured or something, and that could be a possibility. I think I've gone more out of my way than most randoms on the internet would to see if this is true. Just saying what it looks like from the "not banned" side of the fence. No doubt if I do get banned I will join my forum rage with your own, but until then I have to say, it's very suspicious and I do have a little lump of joy thinking that this nailed a bunch of cheats.

Probably my last update here (for the night) think I've been pretty open minded, I've played DayZ with the latest patch on both servers that are latest and servers that are not, I've now had the opportunity to interact with various items in the game, moved a fair distance, visited stary, and a few other places on the way, I've used the CPU count parameter, basically tried most of the things that people are saying they might have been banned for due to an error with BE and the update etc. The only two things I haven't done are server hop (which I am not keen on doing as it's just a bad look :) ) - and I haven't had any interactions with hackers on the servers I've played on. Other than that .. .. I have to say that I do believe that this has caught a shitload of hackers and they are very very butthurt, I'll concede there is a chance that this is not true, but I have to say at this point it doesn't look good for them. Other people I know who play have not been banned, a lot of people on this forum have not been banned, the statement I saw on the BI forums did have the term "IF", when mentioning the possibility of error. I know it's easy to say "what if you were in our shoes" and things like that, but I'm not, a lot of people are not, and only you yourself can ever truly know if you hacked or not, I know I haven't / never will, I don't expect you believe me, and I think now you could see how others are having trouble believing the posts that say they are innocent. I know I haven't used a hack, I know I haven't been banned. That alone is about half or more of me believing that your all just upset you got busted doing something you had been sure you would not.

I've been playing now for about 1 hr. No problems still. Hmmmmmm
