    pc build question

That graphics chip will not be very useful for gaming, watching movies is about all it will be good for. Spend the extra couple hundred and get 'something' in there, GTX460 goes very cheap now, and will be enough for Arma2 / DayZ. (of course spending more would be beneficial).
  2. I was wondering what the possibility would be for an anti-cheat system that works in a "different" way to normal. Not sure how hard or easy this would be to get around but here goes. Every player online get a screenshot taken at random intervals of time, this gets sent to a master server that processes the image with OCR type technology, if a player has the information on screen like players tags all over the map, or more importantly the "hack" menu on the side of their screen then perma- BE type ban. Fairly simple, and if done in the way I am thinking, there is no way of knowing just when this screenshot would be taken or even IF it would be taken every game etc...
  3. Unless it can be set to have the same effect for zombies as well as players then yea, get rid of it, it's just a pain in the ass, and to be honest it has been used more for a 'griefing' tool than anything else. Such as placing it at the base of a stair, when you try to step over it, it breaks your leg. Or just for putting up around known 'good loot' buildings. yeah, be gone with it

    Ban Question

Not legit. Ban. I know there is a whole "proof" thing that is asked for, but from the tone of your posts and the method you have chosen, I think it's fairly obvious your not an abusive admin and also it's obvious that the person was cheating and should be permabanned, I'd also consider putting thier GUID up for other admins aswell.
  5. It's german. and this is a new part of the "survival" aspect of DayZ, you have to sit at the keyboard till it lets you in the game, if you move away from the computer it resets the time you have to wait, you are also not allowed to eat or drink, this resets the timer as well. (on a serious note). Check your beta and DayZ versions against what the server is running, I only get that when I have a different version of one of them than the server.

    Uneven movements when aiming

It will never respond like CoD or Battlefield, but you can make it bearable, for me I have turned off smoothing, head bobbing, and played with my mouse rate till it felt ok. Other than that we just have to live with it for the moment. I have faith that when the standalone is released it will be better.

    Uneven movements when aiming

The aiming on Arma II is very "clunky", not well "connected", it's the engine I'm afraid. You can play with the smoothing and rates to get it better than standard, but at the end of the day it's just not that well built for first person shooter aiming / shooting. I think the focus was on realism with the ballistics engine, not so much the "run and gun" type play.

    DDOS Attack going on?

Had something similar the other night, all servers in my list basically disappeared and all that was left was one server called "lonely server". Assumed it was some kind of joke / dos attack with a sense of humour perhaps . Unlikely to hit all the servers at once though.

Death should really be the end.

I do that anyway, I mainly play solo, when I die I just start over. It's a good idea to do, it does make the game more fun in a lot of ways. Keeps the tension up, instead of "oh well, I'll just go back and get my stuff" .
  10. Ahhh, that could be it. And no, it's not against the rules. another server to add to the list of those to avoid .
  11. IT's A TRAP ! (sorry could not resist). Ghosting usually mean having another player on the server with you in teamspeak and giving you location / direction of enemy while they are in spec mode. Something you cannot do in DayZ, they might be referring to alt-f4 / disconnect / reconnect to gain advantage type behaviour.
  12. I would not be against a matching system where you could say invite your "friends" into the lobby and join a server from there all together, but I have found systems like this (MW2,MW3) tend to put people with aussie connections on american servers and that kind of thing, it would be ok if it could join servers with a maximum ping or something like that.
  13. This could be frustrating if your trying to have a game with friends, with no way of knowing how many slots are free it's harder to organise a server to play on.

Running a DAY Z home server

If the hive is private / running on the local host that the server is running on it should not be too bad at all. If you are connecting to the actual hive then you will need a very very good connection (100mb+ I think, could be wrong here it's a bit of a guess).
  15. They have either been "hidden" or deleted. Not moved to "off-topic", some that have been deleted had been posted in "off-topic", same as all discussion of lingor was deleted / hidden.
  16. every post I've seen has been deleted, and yours most likely will too. Not sure why it would be against any rules, but meh. dictators gonna dictate :P

    Zombies are pump ...

Yea, they should break BOTH legs when they wave their arm at you from 10 meters away. . . . instead of just one. And make them agro at 500 meters away instead of the 100 or so they do now.
  18. I'll just leave this here for whoever it is that seems to think that consoles are just as powerful / have no trouble running "latest" games that a PC has. The Xbox 360's Xenos GPU has a less then a tenth of the processing power of a top-end PC GPU. 'We often have at least ten times as much horsepower as an Xbox 360 or a PS3 in a high-end graphics card": Compare the GeForce GTX 580's count of 512 stream processors with the weedy 48 units found in the Xbox 360's Xenos GPU, not to mention the ageing GeForce 7-series architecture found inside the PS3.

This game is ruined by cheaters

Cheaters are a problem in all online games. And it will be no different in the standalone, hell the cheats will probably be released before the game is !
  20. Because it has been done many times before, and it always turns out that the PC version is ported rather than developed separately. What is it about this that you don't understand ? And the big red caps just makes you look like a tosser with nothing useful to add.
  21. I wouldn't write the game off simply because a console version is being considered. I don't think that's the problem. The problem is if it is developed for console and then ported back to PC. This seems unlikely as the game specs are simply too high for console, and it is on the PC platform that Rocket developed the idea and the plans I have heard for the game will require a PC, simple as that. A console version would need to be developed completely separate if DayZ for PC is to continue. To sum up : Do not port the game. If you want to create a version for both that's fine, but DON'T port the game. Oh, and did I mention... Don't port the game ! :P
  22. Funny the post calling everyone else "crybabies" has the most "crying" in it out of the lot . . . ;p And completely incorrect statements aswell. The point of it all is that the PC playing community have fears that the development of the game may suffer in quality if it is developed for consoles, more to the point that it may end up being a "port" instead of a truly native PC game. Going by you logic that "a $2000 cpu at which in ratio the consoles are a lot more powerful with the pricce you're paying." I could lay claim to the P2 (133mhz) being more powerful than a console for the price ratio as those chips are about .50c now. (BTW my CPU cost me $300 it has 8 threads / 4 cores and runs @ 4.8Ghz) It can handle much more than a console. So again your "ratio" seems way off.

Holy SHIT biggest fanboy war ever.

I think the main reason PC players don't like games that are "ported" are simply because they have to drop the quality of the game to run properly on consoles. "but it's developed separately" . - At first this may be the case but it usually does not take long before primary development is on the console and the PC gets the "port". Why ? - because console games make more money, simple as that, there are more players on console, the games can be sold for more money, and the problem of piracy is somewhat less. Every single company that has pledged "alligence" to the PC community has gone over to developing for console and porting to PC, money money money :) That is why it looks better for us PC gamers future if the game is not going to console. Dev guarentees mean very little once someone dumps a million dollars in their lap.
