Ahh, how about.... no. You do realise that you simply cannot 'defeat' hackers ? They will ALWAYS have a way to do what they do, all this would do is take all the gear of those who have gotten it legitimately whilst the hackers would simply use a new hack, get way better gear and have the playing field tipped even more in their favour.... If I had any say in it, I'd be asking for a on-beta release wipe, and of course once the full release is live.

YES ! and YES ! absolutely, that kind of thing would just be sooooo awesome, to sneak into a house at night, and *click* shhhhhhhhh, the tv switches on to static by itself, dimly illuminating the house and outside you hear strange noises and "funny" lights flickering in the bush....

One thing I find a little concerning, there is a player here (if their story is true, and I am not saying it is or is not), who may have been banned through no fault of their own. And this ban is permanent. Last night (bit worried about even saying this), I joined a Seattle server, and after about 5 minutes on the server a message came up that said "Remember Hacked Database may corrupt" I took this to mean that the server I was on, was a "hacked" server of some kind, now there was no indication of this in the server list, and obviously I was not intentionally playing on a hacked server, but could this lead to a "ban" ? And if the answer is yes, how are we supposed to be able to tell the difference ? I think any ban list should include the reason for : If players must provide evidence of say an admin abusing / cheating, then should the admin (yes even Rocket) have to provide some kind of evidence for perma-banning someone ? (this would not apply to BE bans as it's auto and cannot (as far as I know) mistakenly ban someone.)

Glooming eyes for zombies at night
Psyl3nt replied to thasundancekid's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
There are a few things like this I would like to have seen in game, but that was when I was under the impression that the zombies are a "supernatural" type, but they are not, they are "infected" which gives them no more "powers" than a normal person. (or shouldn't), -

The interview would not have been good if it went like : "and now we spawn in on the beach .. and oh, hang on, someone just sniped me" "and now we spawn in on the beach ... and oh, hang on, someone just sniped me" DO that for half an hour and the interview would not have been that "informative" for anyone ... or would it ? -
Falling victim to the 'ol big blue DOWNLOAD button :P Unfortunately this type of this is very common, most sites now when you go to download a file have REALLY BIG DOWNLOAD HERE buttons.... And then halfway down the page on a text only link is the "actual" download you are at that page to get. It's a low act, but everyone does it now, so best just to always be wary of any download link.

It's just a setting, something that a lot of people like having in the game, there is a group that do not want it. There are servers that allow it, there are servers that do not allow it. To me this seems the way it should be, player choice on the level of (perceived) realism. To force others to play "my way" is just arrogant and holds no purpose that I can see. The link for a "scrub" describes this very well, so much so that I just have to quote some for those those that CBF clicking the link : A Scrub is a player of a competitive video game who adamantly believes that his or her "house rules" should apply to everyone to promote his or her view of "fair play". If a scrub sees a move or strategy he doesn't like (or can't beat), he bans it (if only in his own mind), and complains that anyone who uses it is cheap. The Scrub will often consider the tactics that he bans "Game Breakers". However, what constitutes a Game Breaker varies from person to person. Within a particular skill level, a game can be broken in that a simple repetitive tactic can lead to success. A more skilled player could stop it, but if it requires a great deal more skill to stop the tactic than to perform it, then it can easily appear to be a Game Breaker. What ultimately makes the Scrub undesirable isn't the rulesetting; it is the attitude. Players will often agree to refrain from using certain moves or from selecting certain characters so they can have fun without investing a lot of time into learning the game. The Scrub, on the other hand, believes that his way is the only proper way to play the game and refuses to acknowledge that the game could be more fun any other way. That's only parts of it, but for those who don't want to go to the link and read the whole thing it should provide the jist of it. -

This is a repeat thread, by the same people, it's not an exploit. It does not enable you to get any more or less "loot" than anyone else, regardless of server. I've put forward arguments in your other threads about this, and you just ignore anything that refutes your completely fucking retarded claim that 3rd P is an "exploit". STFU, this is the game, if you don't like perhaps you should (as your fond of saying) Play something else. Stop trying to force the whole gaming community to play "Your way" or nothing. The people who like 3rd P are in the majority, so maybe YOU should play their way ? - OR Both sides can STFU, and you play on whatever server that has the setting you like.... -
I installed 6 updater and did not have any other software installed by it, I selected [no]. Are you sure you didn't just click next next next next , without reading what you are agreeing to ? I can assure you six is not malware, I don't use it anymore, but it has nothing to do with malware, I just prefer manual methods.

The ONLY Realistic Way to Prevent Deathmatching: Make DayZ a Living Hell
Psyl3nt replied to Time Glitch's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'm not so sure it would change anything really, it would only provide an even greater incentive for others to kill you, I mean if food / supplies are even more scarce than they are now then there is no way anyone would share, let alone medical supplies. I'm part of a number of gaming communities, one community I am involved with had many months of people whinging on the forums (much like here), that the game is too easy, not "extreme" enough and so on. So eventually the devs listened, changed the entire game mechanics, implemented new difficulty benchmarks, and gave the playerbase what all those on the forums had been asking for all along. And you know what has happened ? - many people don't play anymore, and those that do, spend a lot of time on the forums now, whinging that the game is "too hard" . . . . . It has basically killed the playerbase, and all because of listening to the forum folk. I only hope that rocket sticks to his guns, and follows his own vision with this, please don't make kneejerk changes to the game especially major ones in response to forum posts. On average in any game, the forum community makes up about %5 of the playerbase, so it's a case of the %5 speaking for the other %95 that are not active on forums. And that %95 are the ones who determine the success or failure of a game, while the %5 are pushing for changes that perhaps the %95 do not want or will not like. -

I don't have any problem finding guns, it's getting far enough away from the towns etc so as not to have to engage bandits. -
I do think there should be some kind of downside to being a bandit, not sure what it could be though. Nope, cannot think of anything that could be added as a downside, but not detract from the overall game. Pretty much everything that makes bandits easy to identify detracts from the intended "intensity" of the game. I think perhaps a good idea would be that when you join a server it simply gives a number of "survivors" (those that have not murdered), and the number of bandits (those that have), this would give you an idea of the "tone" of the server and could help with determining the level of caution you may need to play there. It also eliminates the need to easily identify bandits.

Must be COD players eh... Another noob who must have had their ass handed to them in COD, now their so bitter about it that anything that annoys them in any game must be "COD players". Just a case of "mad cause you bad".... How about before blaming "CoD players", you learn how to play the game your in, so you don't once again get your ass handed to you and what ? - from now on everything that goes against you must be those damn "DayZ players" ....
-
I think you mean to say "You're an idiot." If you are going to insult someone's intelligence' date=' at least get the basic grammar correct. Like many of the immature and bitter people on this forum, you result to personal insults when your argument falls flat on it's face. That's ok, I can recognise it, and am therefore not insulted. Accept your mistake, and move on. Exploit verb Pronunciation: /ɪkˈsplɔɪt, ɛk-/ make use of (a situation) in a way considered unfair or underhand: the company was exploiting a legal loophole The use in gaming is as a noun, but stems from this very same concept. Advantage - Being in cover Exploit - Being in cover and using third person to see around it in a supernatural way. Understand? [/quote'] ah yes, pick a typo on a forum (lol), the last defence of the defenceless. Read my post, when you understand the words get back to me. I doubt you are even reading them completely as anyone with half a brain would be able to see the difference between an "exploit" and an "advantage". If you don't like the 3rd person view, don't play on those servers that have it, problem solved. As I very clearly pointed out, coming from one server that allows it, to one that does not, is not cheating / exploiting, or anything else you wish to falsely put on it. If you cannot grasp that then there is no hope for you I'm afraid. This argument will become circular and a waste of time. In the situations you have provided both players are able to enter 3rd person mode, so they both have the same "advantage", one player choosing not to is their own choice and in no way are they the victim of an "exploit", they are a victim of their own stubborn will. Really, it's like watching two retards trying to fuck a doorknob.....
-
I think I'm just going to end this with :Your an idiot. Sorry but you miss the point completely and have no desire to understand what is and what is not exploiting. I have read your little "story" and that's all it is, a story.... Again for what ? the 4th time maybe = Advantage does not equal exploit, comprehend that, and you'll do much better.
-
Again you have completely mis-understoon the term, to see over cover is an intended use of the ability to be in 3rd person. Working as Intended does not equal exploit. Does this give an advantage to a player in that mode, over someone who is not, yes, is it using an in-game feature to gain "unfair" advantage, no, it would be unfair if only a couple players are able to enter 3rd person, but since everyone on the server is able to do the same, it provides no "extra" to anyone. A player "choosing" not to use it for things like seeing over cover is willingly disadvantaging themselves, they are not "put" into that situation by anyone else. It also has no bearing at all on the spawing of loot, in frequency, or ease of finding, someone in 3rd person may have to walk a couple fewer steps to see into the area, but if they want to gain the items inside they still have to walk the same path as anyone else regardless of the viewpoint. Your argument that being on a server that allows it and then moving to a server that does not providing an "advantage" simply does not compute. They still would have had to travel the same distance to get the same loot regardless of view. It in no way affects the engine or Mods intended workings. Issues like "seeing through walls", are specific to the game engine, they have little to do with the Mod, I have not seen this myself, and I frequently use 3rd person, the movement in 1st person is very "clunky" due to the engine, and it is much smoother to move in this mode. When you aim your weapon you gain nothing extra from being in 3rd person mode, it zooms to the same iron sight as if you are in 1st person mode. Aiming in 1st person mode on vetran servers is actually easier from the hip, in 3rd person mode your characters "center" is a little offset so it makes it harder to shoot from the hip, by you logic, this makes 1st person mode an exploit on vetran servers that have both. . . In fact by your logic someone having a better computer than you is an "exploit" because it gives them an advantage of some description. Again, advantage does not equal exploit. And your so called "objective fact" (lol) is your own personal opinion which is in no way based on anything "factual" or even remotely sensible. (Any developer would say the same thing, I simply do not believe that anyone has "told" you anything about what is and what is not an exploit, your just saying it to attempt to add credence to a highly flawed illogical argument). Perhaps me being a programmer and not agreeing with you should indicate just what "developers" think about this. . . . . The beaty for me is, I am not here representing a company or product, so I can say what I think without marring any projects. Typically the end users are completely lacking in any comprehension of these things, and they go on tirades about things that affect only them, and attempt, such as in your case, to present non-sensical arguments as facts. Googleing a definition or finding it on Wiki are the same thing, you just searched for a definition to something because you clearly do not understand what it means, otherwise you would have been able to iterate what it is without the search / copy paste.
-
yeah, I learned in a different way, I'm a programmer . .. So have first hand experience on what is and what is NOT an exp loit. I didn't just google a definition, well done though, now all you need to do is understand it.
-
Yes and we should so something about the shooting exploit, you know the one where one player has a gun and the other does not, this is clearly unfair to the player than does not have a gun, and any loot gained by the player who does have a gun is an exploit because even though the other player has the same opportunity to get a gun....oh....hang on... Or is it like the "exploit" of joining only servers that are in Daytime, does this not give an advantage to the players that do this, while those who play at night are disadvantaged ? Or perhaps the "ping" exploit, one player has a lower ping than me, that gives them an advantage, so you know... we should make all servers only allow people of the same ping to join otherwise it's "exploiting" .... Just because something has an advantage does not make it an "exploit". Might as well say that using a better gun than your opponent is an "exploit". this makes no sense, much as your call for a part of the game engine to be called an exploit (do you know what that word means) and for it to be removed. . . . ridiculous, being in 3rd person gives you no "extra" loot, or any better ability to find said loot. It has no bearing on aquiring items, the only thing it provides is a better view point for you too see what is around you. The first person perspective of the ArmaII engine, is very flawed, to the point where it does not appear that ArmaII was meant to be a first person shooter at all, (which it isn't), others using a 3rd person mode has very little impact on you or anyone else, this argument of "using it to gain loot" is completly ridiculous.
-
I don't help anyone because of that, just lay low, let the Zeds take them out, loot corpse, profit. The only way I seem to stay alive is get the gear you need quick and careless, cause if you die with nothing / very little it's no biggy. Once you have enough (hatchet, handgun, ammo, bandages, painkillers, morphine, food, drink, canteen, hunting knife, matches) - head north, straight north deep bushland. Stay well away from any buildings unless you have no choice but to go there. The further you are from others the better.

Psyl3nt replied to Legacy (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So out of the hundreds of thousands of players stretched out over 600+ servers you managed to find a video of people acting like dicks. Congrats. There'll be more, count on it. And in a lot of ways it's a good thing, punctures some of the over optimistic media hype. I don't mind it being a hard core PvP game, but people should know what they are buying into. So before someone buys a motorcycle, they should show them footage of people smeared across the highway, with Jose the Highway worker shoveling them up into a hefty bag? There's no grey area with you is it, it's one extreme to the next, one minute you rally against PVP like you were bad touched by a PK'er in your formative years, then the next you curl up into a ball and talk about how you 'don't mind it, i just want to educate others'. You could type any game into Youtube and find someone doing something other than what was intended with it, usually to a terrible soundtrack at that. I just think you have a completely different mindset, and based on the way you talk, you want this game to operate like an MMO/D&D style game Well, if basically every other motorist was out to kill you and run you off the road on sight, then yes, it would be a good idea to show them that kind of video. Even your strawman argument is indefensable. Most who buy Arma II and get this mod (because they visit the website and it looks "awesome") are expecting something completely different to what it actually is like. So why is it a bad thing to tell people what it is like before hand. The majority of this playerbase of this mod is bloodthirsty / forum trolling / exploiters. My advice for anyone would be to come and read through the forums for a while before getting it, as the "community" on display here says it all about the "type" of in game experience that can be expected.
