    For the love of....

Lost my M24 last night to someone who spotted me (top of the firehouse) and server hopped to 200m back in the northern woods to hit me laying prone on the roof. I watched him walk all the way through the yard (waited for a cleaner shot) to behind a tree, 50 meters away from me, and took out my M4A3. Sat there for 5 minutes. Poof. Disconnect. 5 minutes later, I'm getting hit by the same person and the only possible way to hit someone on the roof is if you're very far back in the woods due to the angle. He knew I saw him, and he knew I was up there because he watched a buddie of mine run up there to drop off food to me. Love this game. Ended up running all the way back, and walking up behind some dude approaching from the west with a DMR, and he took a 1911 clip to his upper back at damn near point blank, so I guess not all is lost. :P But the people who server hop to get the kill because they've been spotted and now they want to move undetected is absolutely ridiculous. He had no ghillie. I would of seen him proning to the whole in the cement barrier to go in the woods east of the firestation(positive this is where I was hit from). He even lit a camp fire behind a tree, then put it out. And I sat there watching for the tiniest bit of movement, and saw nothing. So I figured he was prone under the pine tree, or he disconnected. Turns out someone just left the server, and then as soon as the same person joins again, I get hit from a totally different position. Guess that's cool.

    For the love of....

No ones whining. I am simply stating opinion' date=' and informing the designer, and his partners, who read these forums often, that this problem is affecting many people. The more forum posts, and the more attention it gets, the faster it'll get fixed. More bugs fixed = Better game experience for beta, and finally release. Btw, the "It's alpha stop crying" line was really original. I think I've only heard that one once before. No, seriously. ;) [hr'] Whew, you got lucky with that M107. That's a great story. Very surprised the guy didn't hang back at around 100-150m, zero low, and hit you with the .50 while you were in the loot animation. But maybe he ran up on you and was surprised. Very rarely do I run with my sniper out(due to it being a bolt action m24) but I'm usually very good at spotting targets ways off and immediately dropping to a prone position, and switching to my primary and rolling a few times for good measure just incase he got a fix on my position when I saw him, then I wait it out from there. I'm still waiting on my first .50. I've seen plenty, but no dice. Either they abort prior to death insuring I don't loot them, or it ends up in a stale mate, or me having to bail out just to be on the side of caution. I'd rather keep my gear than get a little too cocky, and give them a clear sight picture of a kill-shot on me. Risk vs Reward is an awesome feeling, and really gets your heart pumping and a game hasn't done that for me in YEARS. And that's why I love DayZ. If there was zero to little "pvp" in this game, it simply wouldn't do that. Sure, I love zombie survival horror games, but I've played many, and without that feeling of constant threat around me, this would feel like another rpg with some left 4 dead thrown in the mix. That's my opinion. Not fact, obviously.

    For the love of....

Let me ask you something. Who in their right mind is going to use a .50 caliber sniper rifle with a maximum effective range of 1600m against zombies. Are you idiotic? Do they also need the ghillie suits too? No, they are there doing the same THING I am doing. I don't go into elektro or cherno and snipe fresh spawns running around with beans and a makarov. I goto the high threat locations where PVP is the objective for all who go there most likely, and we ALL deal with this. PVP is half of this game. Deal with it. DC'ing in a firefight is abuse of a game mechanic to avoid the consequence of the entire back-bone of the game. Perma-death. Plain and simple. Think of that? I also prey on the people who park their character in the barracks of NWAF, the second best loot zone of the game besides downed choppers, and then constantly hop servers until a rare gun spawns for them, which can be the .50 cal Barrett(AS-50 is strictly heli crashes). Also, the M107, the sniper I "kill" people for, is one of the loudest guns in the game. Tell me, are you going to take that to a city full of zeds and unload it for immersion? Or are you going to take the smart route and use a quiet handgun that can get the job done with a headshot? Please think before you post. Know what happens when I get hit and am a second away from death? I say "God damnit, he outplayed me." and take the consequences as the person who designed this game INTENDED. Some of you would probably be the same people who'd shoot me in the back with a 1911 in cherno, even if I said friendly, just because you saw me carrying a rare sniper rifle, or my camo M4, because shiny pixels and loot wins every time for 75% of people in any kind of role-playing game. Like I said previously, I have better things to do than camp people trying to get started. It's a low-move, and I was once in their shoes, many many times. Now that I've learned my lessons in this game, from my experiences and other smart players' experiences, that doesn't happen nearly as often anymore. The people I kill are the people who intend on doing the same thing to me, and any one else who happens to run in front of their crosshairs, for the purpose of obtaining better loot. We all know that we won't keep our guns forever, but to be able to experience using them is a lot of the enjoyment that comes from this game, for myself and a lot of others. Want them? You put in the time, and risk having it be all for nothing. Why? Because they belong to the few, and the lucky who work hard enough, and get lucky enough to obtain them. If you want to be one of those, join the club. If not, that's fine by me. Really. Btw, comparing this to Call of Duty in any sense is absolutely absurd.

    APACHE attack LU45 server

Yeah, see if you'll be saying that when you take out 3 hackers in 15 seconds with a DMR at the NWAF, and within 2 minutes, while you're looting their bodies and sorting equipment, they appear 50m behind you in an APC that is somehow dead silent, and run you over. Same players I killed, because they tried to hit me once, missed, then I saw two tags through the windows, and the third person got out when I finally bit the dust. Got my DMR/Silenced Mp5 and all their shit, and left. Ridiculous. The APC had LMGs...
  5. Hm, I've failed before and I admit that, but to be honest the legitimate amount of screw-ups on my part are very low, low enough that I can't remember specific scenarios. The ways I die are usually from A. Someone spotting my position whose near by, hopping to a new server, flanking me, and then re-logging to shoot me in the back. B. Hitting someone square, and them ALT-F4ing before I can land the blow that kills them before they bleed to death. In the last 2 days alone, of playing at the NW Airfield with my M24, I've killed 3 people, and all together hit 10 people with rounds. 7 of them alt-F4'd. 3 of which had M107s. Not happy honestly. It's like some people have ALT F4 bound to a single key-stroke it seems. They literally disappear before my reticule settles and I can fire a second shot as fast as the M24 allows.
  6. Yeah, if I lose my gear that I've obtained through either killing other players or spending the time in high-risk areas, because some backwater idiot demands people reset on the accounts of the minority of people loot cycling/hopping and/or hacking, I'll quit, straight up. The only way I'll let my gear go is if someone outplays me(Fine) or if I bug somehow(Arghh..but I'll allow it since the game is alpha and I can acquire it again with time.)
  7. KField86

    1Murder = best items

Those items are not hard to acquire. They only require a squad, and time. Unless you do it the way he did, which I do and do not condone. It's taken and received. OR... You server hop the NW Airfield barracks, which is retarded. If you're going to get loot that way, at least take the risk and loot cycle, but I don't even condone that.
  8. KField86

Video: How is he still alive!!!?

Lag ruins all sometimes. I've had this experience, very similar actually except my loadout was what I currently have and I eventually walked away. Hit the guy running with my M24, he went down in the field, fired another round when he was down. To my surprise, no kill awarded, so I assume he's still unconscious, so I equip my M4 and approach trying to just get enough rounds in him and also being worried he was doing to disconnect like 75% of players as soon as they are hit by a bullet, which happens damn near 75% of engagements I take part in. I walked up, and as he was down, he regained consciousness, so I fired 3 or 4 5.56 rounds into his chest/neck area and he somehow hit me once with a DMR, and both went down at the same time. We couldn't see each other at that time. Thankfully, I was able to stop the bleeding, and he finally disconnected. No kill. I walked away but just goes to show, lag and/or possible hacks can be such a pain in the ass. 2 7.62 rounds(m24) VITAL HITS, follwed by AT LEAST 3 VITAL hits from 5.56 rounds and the fucker wasn't dead. He was able to ALT F4 prior to dying. I mean, the ALT F4/DC shit when people get hit is beyond irritating. I'm very very surprised the guy you were facing in the barracks did not disconnect, so major props to him but maybe thats because he knew he had the advantage and was hacking or something? It's more than possible. My group, I play with about 5-6 GREAT players, and we work VERY much like your group, almost identical I'd say, minus the female presence :). Anyway, we must of lost over 10 .50 cals now, both M107 and AS-50s due to us out-playing snipers and hitting them, but they can ALT-F4 before bleeding out, and/or dying immediately. This way, they can wait to log in until they have a buddy to come pick their corpse of their .50/NVG/Rangefinders if they have them, and return them to him when he spawns fresh. It's absolutely bullshit. I'm sorry, but it gets so old once in a while to get excited about landing a killing hit, or multiple, and then not being rewarded for out-playing someone. There needs to be some kind of combat timer that is activated once a shot has been fired from your weapon, or you have been hit by a player. And will not go away until you've been idle for AT LEAST 10 seconds, at which point, then you can disconnect. If there is going to be PVP in this game, either people need to man up and server admins need to start BANNING for this shit, or this kind of mechanic needs to be implemented, period. I never, EVER, disconnect from a firefight. No matter what fucking equipment I'm carrying.
  9. KField86

    How popular is this game?

Well, 100,000 players pretty much log on at least once every 24 hours. Figure it out. :)
  10. What do you have to lose? Easy. Everything. What do you have to gain? Depends on what you set your sights after. Military weapons? Sniping? Sniper battles? My rule of thumb is this... With good gear, comes higher risk. Once you get a gun you really like, expect to lose it at any moment, and every second you're playing. Go into it pretending you're already dead pretty much because it's damn near a guarantee depending on how you play. That's how the game is. I've lived for 10 days, and then my next character died on Day 0 with great loot on him as well. It just happens. And it's out of your control.
  11. I know creating another waypoint cancels out the last, but can you delete a waypoint once you reach it? I'm not talking about map markers for anyone who doesn't know the difference. And if you don't know how to make waypoints, shift + click = life is easy. But yeah, if not, that's kinda meh. I know you could do it in arma 2 I think via a command but I don't think that option is available within this mod. I've tried right clicking it off and other various things but to no avail. Maybe I'm just missing the obvious but any insight would be great.
  12. KField86

I love bandits but really ?

Yeah, I was with creepymoto that day since I'm in his squad.. Guy with the 50 would disconnect, hop, and re-flank every time we sent a bullet downrange. He'd come back in, hit someone with a 50, drop em, disconnect, hop, and flank to the other end. Eventually we had to collect our squads gear, what we could anyway, and bail out. We're bandits too, the exception is we don't shoot unarmed survivors, but this kinda shit is what ruins the game. If there was delay, I can almost guarantee one of us would of been sporting an AS-50. We do NOT DC from a firefight, not ONCE have I ever done so. Even when I've had my best kit, and I felt like I was in a no win situation, I will not DC from a fight. Will I DC if I'm going to fall victim to zombie glitches and shit? Yea, I admit I will. But never a firefight. If you kill me, you earned the equipment on my back and in my pack. Simple as that. I didn't get taken down that day at the airfield, but the following day I got hit from the apartments in Berezino. Lost my M4 SD CCO to a guy who was in the adjacent apartment, saw me aggro zombies. So what does he do? Hop servers, go in the apartment I'm in, climb up the ladder to the roof, and re-connect to where I am. Then proceeds to hit me from hole in the ceiling. This is the one thing that makes me want to rage about this game. Everything else, I could care less about. I put in work for the gear I get, and if someone kills me fairly, then I got outplayed and I accept it, but if you have to server hop to kill me, I guess I sort of find comfort in the fact that I'm a better player than you. ;)
  13. M4A1 CCO SD, M9-SD, AKM in my bag for longer engagements where I need more stopping power, both primarys have 5 clips. Also looted a coyote backpack in the power station in elektro the other day. Blood bags, morphine, bandages, cooked meat and canteens. Thats pretty much all I carry, although the AKM will be getting dropped for a DMR/M107/AS-50/M24 when I find one.
  14. KField86

    NVG's

Yes, I got the M4A1 CCO SD in the northern barracks last night. Went to a server where it was dark, and literally snuck my way in using my map only. Only put on a glowstick when I was in the barracks themselves. Saw the M4 SD, and 3 SD STANAGS and turned the glowstick off, and BOOKED IT directly north. Thank god no one had any thermals or NVGs.

    M1911 vs Revolver

    1911.
  16. Hey guys. I'm on my teamspeak with a couple buddies, and I'm about to start fresh. Figured I'd ask if anyone else that is a recent victim thats starting over whats someone to do it with. I only have a couple requirements. One: Preferably 21+. I'm 26, I like playing with people my age. Be mature, but be able to take the piss at each other, dish and take jokes and keep things light hearted. It's all about having fun and laughing while getting things accomplished and collecting the best loot we can, and hopefully getting into some awesome tactical-esque fire-fights in the prime combat areas like stary and NW/NE Airfield, etc. The only other rule I have is I don't shoot unarmed civs. If they're armed, it's open season. I'm easy to get along with. I've invited people from the forum into my teamspeak to play before, and none have complained and in fact one is becoming a regular with us now...but my friends aren't night owls like me. I plan on playing thru till morning, so if you're interested, give me a shout. I don't yell. I'm not cocky. I'm a normal 26 year old dude from new york who likes this game, likes to laugh, but when it comes to the realism, and tactical nature of the game, I definitely take it seriously, and so should you. So yea, if you're interested... Send me a message on steam: Kevin51501 Just let me know your age, and dayz experience. It would also be extremely helpful if you're a good navigator, because until I get my hands on a compass, I'm not reliable at all there lol. BE COOL. <-- most important bit. Hopefully I'll see ya soon. Only looking for one or possibly two people. First come first serve basically :). I like working in teams of two, plus I'm also gonna be playing with a friend as well.
  17. KField86

    Map & GPS

Just like he said. If you zoom the map in, you'll see a grid and along the top/bottom and sides are sets of numbers. If the GPS says 051089 then you'd look on the map, find 051 on the top bar then follow those grid blocks down until it meets 089 on the right set of numbers. And you will be located in the grid you end up with. It's really not that hard. Basic stuff learned in school. Not saying your dumb. Just make sure you zoom the map in a bit or you may not see the numbers on the top. I'm not talking about the numbers that spawn on random locations and forests in the game, like 345 for example. The coordinate numbers are the graph on the top and sides of the map. Each block represents the next number in line, so if I went east a grid, I'd be at 081 instead of 080. Understand kinda?
  18. KField86

Can't find any way to defend myself

The first guns you're going to run into, in most cases, are makarovs, double barrel shotguns, and lee enfields, although OCCASIONALLY you can find AK74s at the Balota tent towers, and with mags. Also, either the remington 870 or M1014 shotgun. For a good pistol, I still recommend the 1911. It's all about routes my friend. Loot spawns are determined on specific events, times, etc. It's kind of like a science. Basically, goto dayzdb.com and use that website like it's your religion. Study it. Understand what the signs mean. In places like elektro, you need to hit up the pub building(apartment even I guess), Office/School, Hospital, Church, same with Cherno. Also the market places as well. Or grocery stores. Whatever you want to call them. If you're playing on a daytime server, don't clutter your inventory up with chemlights or flares. Instead, goto the hospital, get a few morphine sticks, bandages, a painkiller or two, A couple cans of soda/canteens, and canned food. If you can find a hatchet/hunting knife/matches you can hunt off the land and never have to worry about scavanging for food. Use that website, and visit ALL of the RED deer stands, they have good loot in them at times. And hit up all the red circles but be careful, there military item spawn locations, like good weapons and they will be fought over depending on if youre in the right place at the right time. Approach low and slow, get in, and GET OUT. Thats the best advice I can give you.
  19. KField86

Im not going to be the good guy anymore

LET THE HATE FLOW THROUGH YOUUUUUUU Now, just wait until you get lucky like I did and acquire an AS-50 with about 6 mags, and have a team of 2 spotters at the NW airfield. 15 murders in 4 hours. None of them moved an inch after the shot went off. And yes, the 50 stands for 50 caliber, and it's QUIET. It's just a simple "crack" really. Nothing like the DMR.
  20. Ok, I engaged a group of 4 players. One was a women character with a DMR, and I believe her name started with a K. My heart was pounding when I was able to take out 3 of you while a zombie finished the rest. All the while you had no idea where you were. Now, as I'm collecting loot, the fun begins. Rodrigo Lacerda... nice hacks bro. Nice armored personal carrier that made no noise while moving. I honestly hope this group of 4 had nothing to do with it. I'm not mad about losing my loot. I can have another DMR within a couple hours, not hard. And my murder count will still climb. I'm mad that someone couldn't step out of their illegal vehicle, and fight me with a firearm. If you had won, I would of gladly handed my gear over with nothing but good graces, but based on the fact you ambushed me with a god damn armored vehicle that are basically invincible, get good bro. Umad? Yea. I"m mad that terrible players like this continue to exist in games. To the 4 players I encountered and engaged 1v4 and came out on top, I applaud you for not aborting mid engagement. That was a class act. I just hope Mr Rodrigo was not part of your gang, although it seemed coincidental that not 10 minutes after I killed your last man guarding your corpses with an MP5-SD, an illegal vehicle showed up right to the spot where your bodys were and where I would be. A little bit of a coincidence. Rocket, do something about this shit bro. Please. This is happening on every server.
  21. To the group of 4 survivors I took out at the NW airfield at 7:30est time, that was pretty intense. I don't think you had any idea where I was except for the first shot I took at the woman in the back with the DMR as you crouched past the brick wall, I hit her twice, didn't get the kill and immediately relocated back about 200m. Rodrigo Lacerda. Player on US123 on July 1st, at roughly 7:45pm assaulted us with a vehicle that does not exist in the mods files. An armored personal carrier. At least to my knowledge. I will give the 4 players I killed FAIRLY without ABORTING, and I thank all 4 of you for not aborting(actually, I killed 3, and a zombie finished the 4th) during the fight. I had a friend baiting you 4 from the roof of the fire house, and I flanked you from the sound of your gun shots, and that's how the women went down first. Anyway, I honestly hope you had nothing to do with the illegal vehicle coming in to run us over while collecting loot(Not to mention, the vehicle making ZERO Noise at less than 10 meters away.) It was bullshit, you know it was bullshit. I'm not mad about losing my gear, that's not the issue. I'm pissed that someone couldn't step out of their vehicle that they hacked into the game and fight me with their firearm. Had you of killed me that way, I would of gladly handed my DMR to you with good graces. Yea bro, I'm mad. And I hope to god the people I killed had nothing to do with Mr Rodrigo.
  22. Steam: Kevin51501 I'm 26, and experienced with the game. Definitely interested in tagging along with you guys, but I have to start fresh since I just lost my character to a AS-50 at Stary after I took out 2 of his buddies :( with a DMR. Oh well. But yeah, shoot me a message on steam, I'm ready to go whenever if you guys still need more.
  23. My usual groups are all past their bed times, and I'm a night owl so I usually play throughout the night. I just died finally after a 2 day run so I'm starting over fresh. Looking to play with a couple cool people who know what they're doing as far as the game goes, and know how to dish and take jokes and keep things light hearted, but get serious when the bullets start flying. I'm 26, people around my age would obviously be a plus. Add me on steam: Kevin51501 -- and send me a message if you're interested in playing for a few hours. MUST have a mic. I have a teamspeak server I can use so not a big deal if you don't have one. Thanks dudes :P
  24. I've made a few of these posts already, but I'm desperately seeking for a clan or group of people who love to play, love to laugh, play jokes, get their bandit killing on, and work towards some serious goals. A little about myself: Age: 26 location: NY(About 1.5 hours north of nyc in the 'burbs I like to think I have a solid sense of humor. I love to laugh. Pretty straight forward. My weapon of choice of obviously a sniper rifle, I've been playing FPS since Medal of Honor Allied Assault(2002 I played on TWL ladders), the original Call of Duty(Played competitively in CALeague), America's Army, Rainbow Six Vegas, Battlefield 1942, Battlefield 2, Battlefield Bad Company 1/2, Battlefield 3, Call of Duty 4, COD:BC PC and 360, but after call of duty 4 I felt the series hit a stalemate and nothing innovative came from it unfortunately. I'm a night owl, and I'm usually on from 8PM ES -- to about 3AM EST or whenever people start logging off. I've only been playing DayZ for about a week, but I have the basics down, the FPS portion of the game down-pat, the only thing I need practice with is the map and it's landmarks but once I get my hands on a map and compass, that's pretty self explainatory. I have no problem following any kind of chain of command of rule of engagement, but my golden rule has always been that I will not fire unless I'm fire upon UNLESS I witness a bandit camping a high profile area and preventing survivors from getting much needed supplies, than I will usually engage that bandit/camper no questions asked unless asked not to do so. If I am told not to engage, I will usually issue a warning and let him know to vacate or be surrounded within 5 ninutes, or be forced to make his way back to the coast with a flashlight and a pack of tylenol for the ass kicking he just received. Anyway, I'm really looking for a group of guys who are in my age bracket but know how to laugh and have a good time. I'd prefer people who spoke english obviously, but I have nothing against my pals over in england. Those blokes are funny as hell, gotta give em that. I have no time for kids whose only sense of vocabulary are the words penis, or the phrase "I banged your mom last night" because that pretty much tells me you wouldn't know an ear from a P***Y. So yeah, I don't have any time for it. I'm really looking to be in a clan, because I like to play when I'm home at night since I'm at a point in my life where I'm pretty much free minus friday and saturday. I'm not looking for some all-star clan, although I wouldn't turn one down. I just want to fit in, and help fulfill whatever role the group needs me to fill. My steam is: Kevin51501 -- feel free to contact me asap if you've got room and I'll hop on your teamspeak or vent and introduce myself. I don't start arguments or debates. I'm easy going, and I can't remember the last time I've ever had an enemy and that's no lie. I get a long with just about anyone. The last thing I'll stress though is, is that there is a time to be serious and to get shit done, and then there's a time to kick it and just have a blast and spend a night laughing to tears and stupidity in game. I know this is a survivor section, but truthfully, at this point I'm considering making a post on the bandit side if I don't get any hits. I just wanna play with a cool bunch of guys/gals and have a good time doing it. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. I'll even answer questions about my sex life if that tickles your fancy, but I'm warning you now, I'm dating one of the only cute red-headed women on the planet. Sorry fellas :( lmao. Looking forward to hearing from you. Either add me on steam or PM me here. I check this board at least once a day so I'll definitely get the message and steam is usually always up. I'll be up for a while tonight, so if anyone wants to play tonight, you know what to do! Oh, I also i will record whenever I play with a group(you can tell I'm wishful thinking, so you'll be getting a spot on youtube :P) I just started a lets play channel not too long ago but thats going to start getting a lot of DayZ footage. In game I go by KFieLD86 -- KFieLd -- OneMILAwAy -- SuddenSilence Or just Kevin. :P Hoping to hear from you.
