DayZ Livestream (legit generator) with 4 poeple!
KField86 replied to WilliamPlayDayZ's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
lol wtf? Generator? Wonder what the hell that's going to be for now. Funny thing is Rocket mentioned that in a interview when he discussed the possibilities of players going underground to build fortifications. -
next Patch: FIX D/C BEFORE NEW FEATURES
KField86 replied to osiriszoran's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've shot at someone at 1100M with my M107, just for kicks. So far I couldn't see what he had honestly. Anyway, at that range, the bullet takes damn near 3 seconds from when it exits the muzzle to when it impacts the target. The player somehow heard the shot, and poofed and I watched the bullet splash hit the dirt. No exaggeration. I mean it could of just been a coincidence and probably was, but I thought it was funny. :P This shit used to happen to me 9 times out of 10 when I was shooting the lower caliber sniper rifles. Now, with the M107, you don't have time to DC anymore. If I hit you, you're done. And that's good enough for me. Little bitches. -
I'm currently in camo clothing, and I am not logging in for any reason until I know the issue has been fixed. I'm not losing my M107/M4A1 CCO SD/NVG/etc etc.

lol a fellow member of our group fired his M107 in starry and the shot was heard out in Novy from another member of our group. Im assuming they sound pretty much identical. They sound nothing alike. The AS-50 is MUCH quieter to players than the M107. The M107 is like someone shooting an 88 artillery cannon. No exaggeration. I have one. I made a guy disconnect today that also had one. He shot at one of our guys crossing the airfield. Little did he know I was lying in wait. I had no idea where he was, but someone on the other side saw him (forest west of the strip) so I fired a round in his direction just to pose a threat and get him to stop shooting, and sure enough one of my guys said "DISCONNECT!". Funny as hell actually. It's that intimidating, and thats why I like it. You shoot one of those, and it's basically saying "TAKE COVER"
-
Hope none of these people play on Atlanta 77, because if you do, and one of your tents had an AS-50 and M107 in it, it now belongs to us, as well as everything else in the tents. Thank you! :)

Lmao, I thought the same thing. I was laughing progressively harder as the video went on. No offense, but let me point out some things for you. You would of killed EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM had you played this a lot cooler, but you didn't. You played this like Call of Duty when this game is anything but, and I mean that in every way. The first glaring issue is you have NO communication between you and your buddies. As you entered to engage them, you should of constantly been updating each other as to locations. This way you wouldn't even NEED to ask if it was a team-mate or not. You could of just engaged. Because of that, you lost out on the first kill. You could of lit that poor bastard with the winchester up, but you paused and ran away after hitting him a couple of times. Rookie mistake #1. Rookie mistake #2: You engaged a target indoors and at this point, even though your team-mates are still telling you WHERE they are, you're still asking if it's them. You had complete tunnel vision. Which gets you killed, as we see here. Patience is an incredible virtue in this game. It is absolutely priceless. You did do the right thing however by immediately trying to pull off a flank, but you did it in a way where you couldn't of got a clear shot down the stable with an MP5. What you could of done, is engaged through a window if the opportunity presented itself. This way, you would of had a much larger target "picture" than they would have. They would of had to adjust aim to a smaller point, through a window at you. Where as you could of looked in and had all of the area to shoot into, making target acquisition faster depending on how good you are(which I'm sure you could get better with play-time and practice). I can only say this once and once only. This game is not Call of Duty. There is no rushing, and there is no lone wolf type of gameplay when you're engaging a squad of multiple players who are most likely using voice comms like TS. You want the kills? Low and slow. Not sprint around town aggroing every zombie you see and then spraying with an MP5. And you wonder why you die... your friend sounded absolutely pissed when he died. Why? Because you were in no position to help him, or cover his body. All you had to do was create some kind of strategy where you kept a sniper on overwatch, to watch for them to exit the town, and if they stopped, to hit them, and if not, to report the direction of movement, whether or not you left an automatic to stay behind and cover your sniper, your call... and then sent the rest(preferably automatics) to go into the town, and slowly create a flank. Warning shots would be great to pin them down and isolate them to a single location, however it will also put them on guard, making an assault even the more difficult. Not really trying to make fun of you, or say you suck, blahblahblah... just saying, if you want to win, change the way you play. Then you won't find yourself in Kamenka with a bandage and a flashlight so many times.

You know, a lot of people say the zeroing changes on the DMR when you use the extra zoom available. I've tested this in a training mission you can find on armaholic which puts you on a shooting range, which you can change the type of target, it's distance and whether or not it is moving, and you can select any gun you'd like to use at any time. So I put the target at 300m, and fired without the extra zoom. A little bit high, ok no problem. Zoomed in(supposedly a 400 zero), shot... same exact place, about 4 or 5 inches high. I aimed for dead center, it hit in the neck. I repeated this step over about 15 times. Same results every time. Put the target out to 400m. Aimed for a headshot each time, using both zoom levels. Headshots each time with little to no change in shot placement. The wiki says 400m, and although others have started the rumor of the change in zero with the zoom of the scope, I'm going to go with my gut and say it doesn't change it what so ever. Honestly the ballistics are weird on the DMR. From 400-600m, the mildots work in increments of 100m for me. Out past that, and they are all out of wack and 100m no longer is the correct measurement per dot. To hit a target at 800m with a DMR, you have to line up the part of the crosshair that starts to get thick, below the lowest mildot, and put it on the area you want to hit. Kind of like you're aiming with a front iron sight. Strange, but meh I'm used to it now. Even though the DMR shoots much faster, which is great for the DCers, I still prefer the M24 for the zeroing MUCH more, when it comes to snipers that fire a 7.62 projectile. I've also found, that on the AS-50, the zeroing is NOT accurate what so ever at ranges of 1000+ meters. meaning, you can rangefind a target not moving at 1200 meters, set your zero for 1200, aim, fire and not hit where you aim, or relatively close to it. I'd still have to aim high.

It is' date=' which is why I was disappointed when I first discovered they aren't compatible in any way. [/quote'] Yeah, I know which is strange kind of. Only the DMR works with the NVG, you'd think that was done that way just for DayZ due to the DMR not having any zeroing, so it would be harder to take long shots at night with NVG, but it's that way in ARMA 2 already. -
How big is your group and what loot have you got?
KField86 replied to miragexl's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Let's see... my main group has about 5 or so people who play not including me. Much more play but times are varied. Me: M24/FN FAL/Silenced M9/All the other necessities Other #1: AS-50/FN FAL/1911 All the other goodies Other #2 DMR/FN FAL/G17/ ** Other #3 M4A3 CCO/1911/** Other #4 M16-203/Bizon SD/** Other #5 DMR/M4A1 CCO SD/** And our other guy who comes on occasionally, has another AS-50/MP5-SD and Silenced M9. Some assorted vehicles, tents, ghillies, camo, toolkits, blahblahblah. My kit would of been an M107/FN FAL/Silenced M9 today had my backpack not ate the barrett. FUUUU -
Lost my M107 today to this. I was heartbroken. Thankfully my friend gave me his M24 and I gave him my DMR that I had stored away. This is the second Barrett .50 cal I've lost now from this bug. The first one had kills attached to it and it was personal. This one I hadn't even fired yet. :(

Someone who logged at the NWAF saw this thread and definitely checked to see if they were there. I guarantee it. The thought of dropping someone with an AS-50 and NVG is too tempting. Especially knowing that if you drop one of them, the other will DC and not stay behind to protect his buddies corpse and gear. Which I guarantee will happen. 99.9999% sure. -

M107 getting munched... good day goes to a bad day.
KField86 posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Ok, I'm not here to complain but to ask who else has experienced this. Before anyone askes, after it was munched, I had 15 available slots in my backpack, assuring me that I had the room for it to fit in when I switched between my FAL. Also, can't complain much because I randomly logged on today, walked about 200 meters and came across two tents. Terrible hiding place for tents. Wide open in a clearing in the forest. At first I was suspicious because it wasn't concealed very well, so I checked my angles, cleared the perimeter then went in. In the tent, I find an AS-50/NVG and an M107. So I immediately called my buddies, who were online at the time, and told them to switch servers immediately. We also found a tractor, loaded it up with everything of value in the tents, and took off. My buddie currently has the AS-50 and I took the M107/NVG. Loads of other guns, m4a1 cco, ak74 kobra, etc etc/medical supples. Anyway, today while scoping out the airfield, looking for M107 mags, I took the .50 out of my bag, since it had no ammo currently, and used the zoom of the scope to check a building. I put it back in my pack, and poof... gone. I triple checked my bag to make sure it had the available room, and also had a friend of mine check after I had lost it to confirm the amount of room I had. Now, I know this is alpha, and due to that and the fact I robbed it from a tent, I can't complain much... but for me it seems like this is the only weapon me and my group ever comes across that gets eaten by the bag monster. I've lost 2 this way now, and we've also had another disappear. My first thought was maybe this item was duped, and that's why it disappeared. However, I dropped it prior to this and it was on the ground to reacquire just fine. I've never lost another gun in this game besides the M107. Is there something I'm missing? I've had every other sniper rifle before, and swapped primaries and never had an issue. I always carry two primaries and never lost one due to this. Kind of silly, actually. Hope this gets fixed soon. I'm sure the issue has been brought to light many times, but I'm just curious how many people this has happened to, and JUST with the M107 barrett. -
M107 getting munched... good day goes to a bad day.
KField86 replied to KField86's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yup, as I said, I had 15 available slots for the gun to switch back in with my FAL. No ammo for the .50 either. I was only using it for the zoom because I completely forgot I didn't have binocs at that moment. I had passed up like 5 sets because I thought I already had a pair. I'm lucky in the fact I've never lost a gun due to this, except for my M107s. Thankfully the last one I had I actually got to fire. -
http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=14616 It's very close to 100m per mildot, at least up to 600m. Once past that, the ballistics seem to change drastically, and you need to start aiming a bit more higher. I sat on that mission with a DMR for over an hour yesterday at tons of different ranges since it's the current sniper I use, and the only sniper I've had without zeroing. Was tired of missing shots with it.
-
There is however an M4 holo w/203, just without the silencer. I've never heard of there being a silenced variant in the game.

Find a way to stop this DC'ing bs-fest. It seems every person who gets hit by a round now-a-days automatically aborts, like it's almost done without hesitation. They even so much as hear a bullet land near them, and they instantly disappear. I lost THREE, yes...THREE M107s and possibly an AS-50 in the last TWO days, because me & my co-sniper will double-hit a sniper that spawns in on the NWAF, and he'll somehow manage to abort. Even though he was hit twice, and most likely bought the one way ticket, he still was able to abort, and now wait to log on until a friendly can loot his corpse and return the .50 to him, and whatever gear he had at the time. It is ABSOLUTELY ridiculous. I should be rewarded for getting the upper hand on another player with the intention of killing ME, not having them get the last laugh with a "Haha, almost." because of a broken mechanic. I honestly hope this is on your list of priorities, especially with the amount of servers I join that have the greeting as "IF YOU D/C DURING A FIREFIGHT YOU WILL BE BANNED" yet people still get away with it constantly. I am not exaggerating in the slightest, and I know others share my experiences, that about 8 out of 10 people I pull the trigger on with my M24(or whatever gun you have) will D/C before my m24 can load another round and take a follow-up shot. The only way around this is to double-snipe, with another sniper on voice-chat and we count down to 1 and fire at the same target, at the same time. I mean, we usually do this anyway but the fact is not always do we both have a shot on the same person, and sometimes waiting will not be an option. The worst of the offenders? The amount of people I hit spawning into the northern barracks at NWAF when I'm scoped looking through the doorway for the hoppers(my highest priority). I swear some people have ALT+F4 bound to a modifier to make it a single key-press, because at the speed at which it is done, or if simply they have done it so often they have it down to a science. Sometimes less than a second. BANG. GONE. <-- As quick as you read those two words. It doesn't happen every time, but if I don't land a headshot, they're gone 8/10 times. No matter what server I join. And it's always the ones with the M107s that they probably hopped the barracks to get, or cycled it for hours on end. I know jesus christ has nothing to do with this, but I mean...jesus christ.

Logging out to avoid a serverhopper.
KField86 replied to The Poacher's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I log out when someone sees me and they disconnect now. I don't have time for that shit anymore. Like someone else said, I chose not to be apart of there bullshit equation. I'll just goto a different server if I'm playing solo. If they can constantly DC, so can I. The difference is, my intent is to stay alive, and there's is to get an unfair advantage on someone because they know they have the lower-hand that was dealt. It's like peaking at another players poker cards at a casino table. Guess what happens when they're caught? They get thrown the fuck out. Soon enough the same will happen. -
It automatically saves your position. Just hit abort, and disconnect. Then log back in? You should not be starting from scratch unless you're joining a server that has a server specific second character, or if you're hitting respawn or something.
-
Maybe they shouldn't server hop high value military locations where some items are only available at and earn them legitimately instead of taking advantage of a broken system. Regardless' date=' it'll be fixed. [hr']

Logging out to avoid a serverhopper.
KField86 replied to The Poacher's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Got killed by a ghoster this morning. No ghillie suit. I spotted him prone behind a car about 500 meters away, then he creeped out a little bit and immediately disappeared. He logged back in, I took a shot, and he disappeared again. Then, he miraculously appears 5m behind me, with an AKM, and lights up my back. Same player. I payed attention to the server list. There was no way he moved because in order to get to me he would of had to cross pretty much open field. If he had a ghillie suit and proned the whole way I could understand it, but there was no movement. Lost my m24 to him. Shits retarded honestly. So, because I have someone pinned and they have an estimate of where I am, they can log off and spawn in directly behind me and get a free kill, and possibly amazing gear? It's ridiculous. My squad had the same thing happen to us at NEAF one time. Guy with an M107 would constantly ghost to flank us, and ended up taking down 3/6 of our squad who all fanned out and took cover when we heard the first shot. We had one sniper get a confirmed visual on his location, and then nothing more. He originally fired from the west, then 2 minutes later was firing shots from the east, then north. There is just no way 6 people didn't catch any movement. Again, no ghillie suit. We all have very keen eyes as well. -
AS50 (BAF) versus SVD camo versus M107
KField86 replied to xscottyt's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Isn't the AS-50 more powerful than the SVD? It's HUGE which is my only complaint with it(Can clip through buildings and completely blow youre cover if you're sniping from an indoors position(like a few meters back from a window to give some cover). I don't know what the SVDs max effective range is since I haven't used it, but I believe the AS-50 zeros further than the M107, does it not? Could be wrong. I've only had an AS-50. No M107 or SVD yet. Just the other 7.62 caliber rifles. -
Any tactical minded squads playing right now?
KField86 posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Looking to play for the night since I've got nothing to do, and the guys I usually play with are off for the night. Basically, if you're a group out there, whose mature minded, but can joke about and have fun, and keep it serious and tactical when the times call for it, then feel free to add me on steam. I'm 26 years old, mature, currently I fill the overwatch role with my DMR and have been sniping for a while. Also, not interested in skype calls. If you're a group with teamspeak, that would be great. I've gotten groups together on here before using my personal groups teamspeak, but now I'm reaching out to other groups to play with. I'm on the east coast of the US, but I wouldn't mind playing with some brits on their servers either, not at all. :P Add me on steam: Kevin51501 -
Hey fellas. Listen, we have a TS that is public for anyone and everyone to join, but before I get onto that, I figured I'd say what I have to say. Or basically, what I am looking for. I am looking for players who are dedicated, mature, tactical minded, and willing to work together as a team to complete various objectives. Whether it's patrolling for vehicles, or camps, or going to the NW airfield at the early morning hours, and being overwatch, or provided spotting for your sniper, or having an assault rifle and moving from the main buildings in support of the rest of the group. Basically, I say this. We aren't a clan, basically it's just a community of like minded individuals who come on and play the games they enjoy. But I'm trying to at least take the DayZ portion to the next level. We have players from all over, who operate at different times, and things like that. Some requirements: Maturity (I won't make an absurd age requirement, but due to issues in the past I'd have to say I'd personally prefer 18+) Play-time. There's really only one rule: Never, and I mean ever for any reason, kill someone who is on the teamspeak server with you, at any time. Unless of course it's by accident and you can apologize and/or help that player require his gear by either A) watching over his body or B) helping him reacquire gear in the case of his body disappearing. Things like that. I'm really only asking for cool individuals, doesn't matter where you're from, europe, america, etc etc, to come on, and hang out. If you don't have a clan to goto, or a teamspeak server you play on, then feel free to use ours and get to know the other people who play. Currently a lot of people are european and play at off-peak hours that most americans are used to, so I'm doing this to try and muster up a little bit of a crowd and some new faces to see every day on teamspeak. Like I said, you're free to use it, and as long as you clear it with a staff member, you're free to invite friends to it. As long as it's within reason, and they meet the maturity level requirement, and can follow the golden rule I stated. Once I see more people coming onto the teamspeak, me, and the others can decide what we'll do about forming SERIOUS, committed DayZ squads who will not only loot the high-risk areas, and hit other PK'ers where it hurts, but also form units to patrol for vehicles/camps, etc. Like I said earlier. So with all that said, I'll give you my steam id if you have any questions. Steam: Kevin51501 TS Server: 89.32.146.237:10017 Again, this goes out to all level headed mature DayZ players who want to get a little bit more seriousness out of their game. It may take a while to gather some attention, but I can only hope we'll get more people in here and working together as the game progresses through alpha and becomes a polished piece.

A Radical PVP Game Change? Take Sniper Rifles Out.
KField86 replied to justwrath's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
How many times does Rocket have to say this? He's not going for game balance. He's going for an "anti-game" like experience that is based solely off what you'd come to expect from real life. Do you know how many rifles with scopes their are in the world? Take my remington 700 .308 that I use for deer hunting. That gun can shoot 800 yards if I wanted it too. It's basically the same round found in most popular american sniper rifles minus the .50 calibers and the remington 700 is pretty much what the M40A3 is based from. Every RPG out there is all about balancing this, while balancing that, because some people don't like aspects of the game that the developer has his heart set on keeping apart of it. Then the game shifts and goes through massive changes, people cry, people jump for joy, and people always end up leaving. I'm telling you now, more people will leave this game if you take out an entire group of weapons, then the amount of people who would join it and be regular players due to hearing about such a change. This isn't about balance. It's about war, realism, survival, and being able to think fast and long ahead. Maybe you aren't doing one of those things, because I sure as hell do not get sniped as much as some people claim, and I spend almost every day that I play in an area where people only go for the purpose of killing each other, ESPECIALLY with sniper rifles.
