  1. This is true. During the time your character is creating, and you're loading in, you actually appear in game for a couple of seconds before you are in control of your character. You killed him while he was loading in, thus you received the friendly fire message. I've killed server hoppers plenty of times loading in to the northern barracks at NWAF. It will give me that message, and I won't receive a murder for it. He was probably stuck at loading, and trying a few different times to get into that server, which is why he wasn't dying and falling to the ground. If he got in all the way, he then would of came in the game and immediately dropped dead on the ground as the client & server would of registered with each other. No hacker, no glitch. You just killed him while connecting in. It also could of just been due to bugs. I don't rule out the fact that it could of been an inexperienced hacker trying to load scripts, etc.. but if you're going to hack, I imagine you would hack in a weapon with a far greater advantage, like perhaps the M107 w/ Thermal Scope that is in Arma. I just know from experience that the Friendly Fire message appears when killing someone who is not in the game fully yet.

    Poor kid at Pridorgski

How do you know he wasn't? Why take the chance? Fight or flight is human instinct. It's not crap, and in a desperate situation in real life, you would too. Don't say you wouldn't, because your brain is hard-coded, along with virtually every other living thing on the planet. Sure, the game isn't real life, but in this game there is no way to put a gun to anyones head and tell them to drop their weapon without taking the chance that they'll simply click their mouse. Fact is you have no way of knowing what someone will do, and you have no way of knowing that the befriended person won't shoot you in the back a couple miles down the road while you're looting something. I don't take that chance. If I'm going to trust someone, it's going to be someone on voice comms. Nothing else.

    AHAHAHAHAHAHA SHOULD BE LEGAL

Troof. Admins are not allowed to kick people from servers if they are hive servers. Especially for things like that. The only thing they can do is report a player directly to the hive admins and they can deal with it. It's a case of "Let the police handle it." So, if you knew who they were, and what server it was.. you could report them, and the server it is, along with a description of what happened, and then watch them get their server revoked and then you can really drink in their tears. No tears, only dreams now.
  4. Technically, he isn't allowed to ban anyone for DC'ing, but the fact remains, if they had full control of the servers and could do whatever they wished, I'd plead with them to ban people like this. They outnumbered him 4 to 1, and I know for a fact as soon as the flares and smokes went out, the first thing that they thought of was "Oh shit, it's more than 1 guy, let's get out of here!!!!" and they left the server. This is simply a bullshit tactic, and if you don't stay to fight, then don't attempt to fight at all. Fucking idiots. Don't take a shot at someone you don't plan to stick around and kill.
  5. Nice job OP. I've been in this situation many times. Patience is priceless when it comes to sniping.

L85A2 gone, snipers will reign supreme

People need to stop saying the fucking word "balanced" around here. Especially in an alpha mod. How many times does the developer and producer need to say that "balance" is the last thing on his mind. It's like playing a realism shooter and complaining because you died to one single shot to the chest from a .308 round. Well, chances are unless you are lucky, you're going to die. Get with the program. The L85AWS was an issue, it did have a big advantage over every other gun in the game as it's basically looking into a wallhack (brilliant white against a red backdrop, if you haven't seen it check out a video) but that's how thermal optics work in real life, and this is a game that's going for an authentic feel. Period.
  8. Ok, and if the game was entirely about zombies and there was no pvp what so ever, you'd be bored in about a week of playing solely against zombies, and having every piece of equipment you could want, and at that point the entire game revolves around walking, and finding foot and water to keep walking. That sounds like a load of fun. /sarcasm off. PVP and the tension that comes from it makes this game,

    Fucknobs need not apply

My attitude is the same as the ops, and I'm the same age as well(26). Looking for a people to play with as well, so PM me. My current kit is in my sig, and I've been playing for over a month. This char is on Day 6.

Going far up north, whats the point?

I haven't been back down to cherno or elektro in about 5 days. I have no reason to. No need to have some new guy with a revolver log back in behind me while I'm looting the stores to get a shot in the back. I'd rather see my enemies from a ways off and figure out whether to engage or not to. Plus camp is up there, good players are roaming from west to east and a little south but as easily avoidable if you want to. Plus, the REAL tactical firefights happen there. I'm not talking about free for all deathmatch in the main cities or the snipers who sit on the northern hill of cherno in the woodline with 50s picking off weaklings or the snipers who sit on the road up from the power plant in elektro shooting down into the firehouse and supermarkets from 500m off. Got better things to do. Camps to find. Tents to rob. Vehicles to find and steal, and missions to the airfields with my group to strip the barracks clean for the loot that only spawns there. And more helicopter crash sites spawn up north,

    Jesus. I'm so sorry, Andy.

Terrible player posting pictures of a terrible kill, and admitting he's a server hopping dick who most likely discos from combat? I am truly amazed. Server hopping Olsha hill with an M107. I've never met anyone like you before. Le sigh.
  12. I personally use the M4A1 CCO SD. It's not that effective at long distances, but I find I can still pack a punch with it at 200m or so, it's still relatively quiet at that distance, and it has full auto capability. Besides, if they're further than 200m, I'm going to be using the M107 anyway. The only time I pull out my back-up is if I feel like someones trying to pull off a close flank to my 6 o'clock. Then I'll switch, and try to move as slowly and quietly as possible and just wait until I see him first. In those cases I prepare for extremely close combat, and try to use a downslope for a defilade so I will generally see them a second or two before they spot me. That's all I need. :)

    I hate my life

I've had no problems taking out players with my M9 SD. Ping has a lot to do with it sometimes, as well as de-sync. I was sniping at the NWAF in the middle industrial shack. I had killed 2 people just about 10m prior, so I imagine this guy was part of their group. Anyway, he had heard me and instead of moving out I just stayed put since it was daylight, and my muzzle flash probably wasn't visible, same with the gases coming out of the barrel since I was backed up in the room on the back catwalk, shooting out the windows 5m in front of me to cover my silhouette. I heard someone crouch walking right past the frame of the building so I took out my pistol and waited on top, leaned around the doorway to that little cubby up top. Sure enough, he peaked in, and I let out about 4 or 5 rounds that all landed in his neck/head region. I couldn't tell which bullet killed him with the lag that occurs when a player dies(usually like a 1 or 2 second pause, and then they fall) but it did the job just fine. That's just one example. If you have proper aiming, any gun can get kills. Quickly. Even the makarov. .

    Joy of Banditry

I've done the same many times. I can't tell you how many times I've walked away with an M24/AS-50/DMR or any of the scoped rifles, and higher tier assault rifles like the M4A1 CCO SD, M4A3 CCO, M16A4 Acog, M4A1 Holo, and items like NVG, Rangefinder, GPS, Camo clothing(spares they carried), all of this shit. And all I'd be carrying is at least a 1911 or Enfield preferably, so I can hit them once in the head and not give them time to disconnect. All within about 30-45m of spawning if I'm lucky. It's usually what I do when I get hit up north and have to respawn. Same with the northern hill overlooking cherno.
  15. KField86

    was it bait?

Since when have choppers been back in the game. They were taken out due to the fuel leak bug as well as causing massive desync issues. Are they back in the game, or are you bluffing to create a good "story"?

    I feel ill...

My body has despawned before without combat logging. I have never combat logged before. I admit I've done it due to buggy zombies or glitches, but that's really it. I got dropped from a side flank one day from a 50, and I heard the shot and sent my 2 squad mates around to get him. They did. In a matter of about 5 minutes since they rushed his position with automatics and used the close quarters to their advantage against a sniper. This went down in all of 5 minutes, and I didn't excessively respawn or anything, and my body was gone. On it, an M24 and I was carrying a squadies Mk48 Mod 0 with 2 belts. Oh well.
  17. KField86

    One scary moment

All I read was "We disconnected". Stopped reading and facepalmed. Don't fucking disconnect from a god damn firefight. You got flanked and caught. You made a mistake, own up to it. This mentality is spreading like wildfire and needs to stop, now.
  18. I support and share your mindset 100%.

    Tales of a butthurt player...

Change the way you play the game. No remorse. If they aren't trustworthy, put a bullet in them before they put one in you, and cut all outside communication. You'll like the game a lot more. You do not have to practice your same moral guidelines that you have in RL, in a video game. It's an outlet, use it.
  20. KField86

    NW Airfield...

Just go man. But get some automatics first in case you have to return fire. It's a snipers haven to be honest, as well as a hoppers haven, but if you never go and are scared, you'll never learn from your mistakes and you're not really playing the game the way it should be played. You're going to die. You're going to get pissed and rage quit, but you know what? 20m later you're going to say "You know what, screw it. Shit happens. Let's do this again." and you'll log back in. It's a cold, frustrating world out there, but unless you take the risk, you'll never see a reward. If you want the best military items, the only place to go is NWAF, minus chopper crashes. The Southern and Northern barracks are the best loot locations there, and also the most dangerous because snipers tend to watch them heavily if they are present. Also, hoppers tend to spawn in one of the back rooms, so be on your guard. You'll have a shot window of about 2-3 seconds while they load in that you can drop them without even being fired upon. You'll see "So and so was killed by so and so(Friendly Fire)" if you kill them while spawning, which means nothing. You just won't get a murder because they weren't registered as being fully in-game yet. They're still plenty dead. ;)
  21. You know he meant 1.7.1.5. Give him a break. You're reaching a bit too far with the trolling. *facepalms*

How did you discover Day Z?

I think it was Totalbiscuit's "WTF Edition - DayZ" videos. HIS WTF? series basically has him playing a lot of different random, not well known games and commenting on whether or not they will go big or not. I think that was put out in may, and I saw it the day he released it since I'm subbed to his channel, and when I saw the game I immediately thought. "Holy shit, someone has finally had the balls to make this game. Time to download steam again," Been here since.

    calling all dedicated snipers...

Honestly, to put this answer very bluntly, and some may understand it and some will not, I treat sniping like Deer Hunting. If you deer hunt, you'll know exactly what I mean. And before you make a comment, I'm a 26yr old from New York who works in construction, as well as painting/taping/sheet-rocking, etc etc. Definitely no hill billy. When I go sniping, it's usually 6 of us. 2 Snipers. Each sniper has someone with an assault rifle covering their rear flank. Then 2 pointmen with silenced weapons for zombie clearing. Whether it's a backup weapon or a silenced M9, sometimes it varies. When we goto the NWAF, we are usually there for AT LEAST an hour. If we see anyone or not, it doesn't really matter. We also only shoot people that we can spot and verify are carrying a good weapon. We let people who look like newbies pass on by, and they'll never know we are there unless they literally walk right into us, and at which case we'd fire just to prolong our own lives and not take the risk of anyone going down. During the time we're waiting, we discuss tactics, shoot the shit, anything. As soon as we make visual contact with a player, the talking ceases and it's game-time and everyone falls into "alert" mode I guess you could say. But yeah, to me it's very much like hunting in real life. You be patient, you sit and wait, and then once you see something, your forehead sweats, your heart starts pounding, and then you see if you can pull the trigger or not. And I absolutely love it. I just hate having to absolutely book it once I send a round downrange with the M107. As soon as that thing goes off, me and my spotter/rifleman will move out together to engage any zombies if necessary at further ranges, just in case anyone is around and listening for gunfire. Try to make sure it's not in the same general position as when I fired the M107. Throw em off a bit. Then we relocate. I relocate each time I take a shot.
