Don't you wish you were as badass as me?

2v4 at the NW Airfield on US501
KField86 replied to Ahniolator's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Great story. This is the exact kind of situation I try to get myself into every day. It's the best feeling as a sniper. -
There's so many people with the name "Owner" in this game, but surprisingly there have been a few with that name that have been called out with proof for hacking on these forums in the past. Chances are it's not the same one, but it'd sure be funny if it was. If they were spawning that quickly, even though elektro is a spawn point itself, I'd of called bullshit myself.

To those who killed my friend and took the bus in NWAF on us 670
KField86 replied to Slagenthor's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'd laugh so hard if this wasn't the same bus. -
AS-50 wouldn't be audible to a player at more than a couple hundred meters, and at that range you're well within it's kill zone. It's pretty much silent death. You don't hear the shot, and if you get hit once you're dead.

Sick of players DCing and not getting the kill?
KField86 replied to Inception.'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Not really. Because then all they have to do is hop on teamspeak, and have a buddy ready to meet them where they went down. Quick bandage and a blood transfusion, and he's on his feet and moving out. This happens all the time. If they disconnect before they're dead, they can still survive easily as long as his buddy is quick. The real solution to the ALT F4 problem is called a .50 cal. -
Taking away even more access to our servers?
KField86 replied to Soujyo's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
You obviously have no way of knowing that unless you happen to be a part of the development team, or you hit 88mph in your delorian and saw things no one else does. I also don't host yet. I also have no qualms paying $35 for a server as it doesn't dent my wallet even with the bills I have to pay. It's just the simple fact that I feel hackers have no place in this game, and they should be policed a bit more than they are. I'm still going to get a server because I want a single place for me and the guys I play with to login to. I'm not saying battle-eye is shit, because it's not, it just needs to stay on the ball and I hope it will. Keep in mind the only thing I'm saying we should be able to police is people maliciously and deliberately exploiting game mechanics and/or hacking the game. And I'm fairly certain that option will be there in the future without servers being blacklisted for it. I don't condone kicking for slots, or deliberately restarting servers to gain an edge, or anything an abusive admin would do. But being able to police a server against the threat of people ruining the experience of others, is a bit frustrating. I know a guy through steam that was hosting a chicago server, haven't talked to him in a while.. and he had to shut his server down because every day it was having a hacker presence, and driving off legitimate players. And he couldn't do a thing about it. That's a pretty awful feeling, but I guess you just have to live with it. Like I said, either way I'll be getting a server, and I won't be bitching about it but I do hope in the FUTURE, we can be able to police against legitimate threats. I'm all for a strict rule-set, but within reason. -
The M107 .50 cal has two zooms, and so does the AS-50. The AS50 just requires you to hit the + key on your num-pad. The M107 just uses the right mouse button. Although I think the M107 has slightly more power in it's scope, meaning it zooms a touch more.

So anyone here NOT shoot at first sight?
KField86 replied to Reidlos's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
if I get close to someone who I caught completely off guard and they haven't seen me yet, I'll usually call out for them to not even so much as turn around or move, and then proceed to ask them to drop their gun on the floor, or have them hit their surrender key. However, usually it's having them put the gun on the floor. Then I'll tell them they have 5 seconds to tell me whether they are going to comply or not. If they still haven't seen me, I'll warn them again and say "If your mic doesn't work, type it in direct chat. Last warning.". If they have so much as turned around, not dropped their weapon, or haven't answered me in that time frame, they die. So no, I don't always shoot on sight. But in areas like the NWAF and Stary Sobor, I always shoot to kill, and on first sight. Because even if you don't shoot that person immediately, that's not to say he doesn't have a buddy on overwatch, and once the person your talking to spots you, he's going to tell his buddy on overwatch your location, and while you're dicking around trying to tell the guy "Friendly" or "Put down your gun" you hear the crack of a sniper, and have blood pouring out of your skull. I've pretty much confirmed over the last 2 months that no person who goes to these places is friendly, and they will shoot first as well. So, you better hope you have better eyes, and a faster reaction time. -
Taking away even more access to our servers?
KField86 replied to Soujyo's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Hm. Interesting. I'm about to be purchasing a server from HFB within the next week or so, but I'm going to have to do more searching. I already know the basic rule set, like No passwording. 40 slots minimum in the US. No kicking and/or banning for anything other than malicious threats and/or racism. But I'm really curious about how more and more privileges are being stripped away. To be honest with you, a good half of me wants to wait until we have the authority to remove and ban people from our servers when they are caught hacking, and battleeye hasn't caught them yet. I don't want to even imagine how upset I'll be to know I'm paying monthly for a server, and I won't be able to stop people from ruining the experiences of players on my server by hacking. If they just allowed that one thing, to be able to ban players for hacking, DC'ing from combat, or general server hopping, I'd feel a lot more comfortable. Even though it's only roughly $35 a month for a 40 slot server, that's still $35 a month I'm paying for an experience that is less than what I'd like. People who are hacking this game have no place in testing this alpha. We have tens of thousands of legitimate players. No one's going to miss the assholes. -
I look like michael jordan with aviators. Black = harder to spot at a distance. I don't have an ounce of racism in me either, so don't even start. It's actually rather true though. When I'm with my group, they have a hard time spotting me but can find each other in the tree line rather quickly. Especially if I'm in camo. Usually the white face sticks out like a sore thumb. Not me. :)

Whats you standard gear to carry?
KField86 replied to Stewart (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
When I start over.. I go through some priorities first. First thing, find an alice pack. Second, find a 1911 to clear out zombies in one shot quickly, and because ammo is abundant. Third, find a decently powered(5.45 or 5.56) semi/fully automatic rifle so I can sweep through towns. Finally, find a sniper rifle so I can fill my role as overwatch. Between all of those priorities, I start looking for canteens, and hatchet/knife/matches. I can travel without a compass or map if I have to, but if I find a compass, all the better. -

What percentage of players you meet/engage Alt+F4?
KField86 replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'd say 9 out of 10 people I engage will alt F4 unless I hit them with the .50 cal, and then I'd say 10 out of 10 people I engage end up dead and are still furiously mashing alt and f4 while looking at the you are dead screen. Bitches. All of them. -
Yup, you were asking for it by carrying that M107.around on your back like that. And running through stary alerting zombies so that anyone within 700m would see zombies aggroing someone. You got hit by someone with an M14/DMR/M24 due to the sound of the gunshot, not a silenced weapon. I absolutely never have my M107 out if I'm in a town like that, because all engagements will be close quarters at that point. I put my M107 in the back and pull out my SD AR. Put it on full auto, and keep as quiet as possible. Happy to say no one has been able to pry my M107 off me yet, and I've been alive for 12 days now.

Ah, I remember responding to a thread saying you needed to contact Sacriel. Good on ya. Great guys.

Running speed...? How does it work?
KField86 replied to BoomPow's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
For some reason I always noticed the exact opposite. For me it seems that if I have my primary out, I run just a hair faster than I would with a sidearm. No idea why. -
Exactly. This is the biggest advantage to wearing a ghillie suit. Sure, they aren't modeled the best, and there are flaws... but if you know how to properly hide your silhouette, and you're far enough away.. you can pretty much go sight unseen. Some people think that just because they have a ghillie suit, they can just hit prone in the middle of a grassy field and be completely hidden. Doesn't work that way. You need objects that further break up your players body lines. One time, I got lucky in the very early stages, and I found a ghillie suit in the cherno apartments. I decided to goof around and hide in high traffic areas trying to pop out and surprise people with a hatchet. True story: I went to balota, behind the ATC tower in the woods. I went prone under some evergreens that were surrounded by heavy foliage. I had a player walk within 10 meters of me, and never notice me. Absolutely scared the shit out of me since he was approaching from the north, in the forest behind me. He almost stepped on me, and I'm not exaggerating. So, I did what any respectful gamer would do. I start playing Chewbecca sound-board clips over direct voice, and chasing him with a hatchet. He ran into one of the hangers and alt f4'd. It was absolutely hilarious. Point being: If you know how to use a ghillie suit properly, and people don't look under every tree, they are very effective. Especially if it's dawn/dusk. They could be modeled a little bit better, for example: Give them the old gloves the bandit skin used to have, and make the boots green instead of gray/black. But like I said, the biggest thing to remember is it hides your backpack, and I can spot a person prone in a field from hundreds of meters away just by seeing their backpack sticking up.

the as-50 is miles better, even though it can't be used in conjunction with NVGs. The fact is, on a day with good visibility, it can shoot reliably out to 1000m, and it is always a one hit kill. People don't have time to ALT F4, which is the biggest pro over the DMR. Even though the DMR shoots rather quickly, and can put a couple rounds into someone before they disconnect.. unless it's a double headshot, you're not going to kill them at around 600-700m if you manage to hit them accurately by adjusting for elevation with your mil-dots. After 400m, the gun's power seems to drop off substantially. I like the DMR. I've used it many times, but when it comes to 7.62x51mm weapons, I think the M24 is truly hard to beat due to the zeroing, and the fact it's deadly accurate out to 800, and even 900m. I'd rather fire once at a target, and know they are dead without being able to ALT F4, and be able to accomplish that at 1000m or more since I'll be well within effective range. Then have a DMR, and hit someone twice at 400m and have them someone survive with <1000 blood, giving them time to ALT F4 and have a buddy come and patch them up, and deny me their loot. Just my personal preference, and I certainly would not call the DMR an AS-50s equal.

6 months in Alpha state....
KField86 replied to Sputnik (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Exactly. But don't forget, we're living in the "gimme gimme gimme" generation now. The fact is, Rocket has so many ideas for this game, and he's not going to upgrade to Beta status without testing all his concepts first. Once he finds some concepts he likes, and sees that they are able to function in the game-world, he'll most likely move to beta and work on correcting bugs, exploits and making things extremely polished. Then comes the release announcement. -
Arc, you're going to slowly learn that trusting people in this game is a death sentence. The only time you should ever attempt to establish contact with another survivor, and try and confirm their status, is when YOU have the upper-hand, or have others with you that are watching that person. Once that survivor knows that any kind of threatening response will end his life within seconds, they will usually comply. If you are not in a position to have the upper hand, engage them and kill them. YOU are the only person who matters in this game, as well as the people you may play on teamspeak or other voice comms with. Don't trust anyone, ever. That's the name of the game. I can't tell you how many people I've scared into submission when I found them, then hid on the other side of the wall and contacted him via comms. When I told him I had a .50 cal on overwatch with him in his scope, he was strangely quick to comply. It was kind of all about how I conveyed my feelings.

Hey people. I belong to a small community of people who play all sorts of games. One of them happens to be DayZ. However, peoples hours vary and some of them don't play all that much anymore due to other games coming out and taking their attention. I am planning on starting up a squad of people, who play frequently, are serious about their characters and the game, and aren't new to the game. I'm hoping this post can gather up some heads. A little about me. I'm 26, and from New York. I've been playing this game almost daily for about a month, maybe a little more. I started playing when the Humanity system was still intact. A couple of things... One: I play this game very seriously. I play cautious, and I shoot first and ask questions later. I'm about the meta-game squad play, and getting people kitted out with the things they want, as quickly as possible. I do not support server-hopping, disconnecting from a fight or bitching about whose turn it is to get a .50 cal or things like that. If you Alt-F4 out of a fight to evade death, I'll probably get rid of you. Sorry, I just don't endorse it and I don't want to deal with that mentality. I'm a mature dude, but I'm still in my 20s. I crack jokes, I like to laugh over this game, and generally have fun. To put it bluntly, I consider myself pretty normal for a new yorker. So, enough about me. Now, I'll turn my focus on what do I want from YOU. My rules-list is fairly short.. 1. 18+ -- Sorry, I've invested a lot of time into this game, and I may be stereotyping but most younger kids I come across just generally lack the kind of respect for one another that you need in order to play this game. 2. Don't cry over loot. You'll get yours. If you make the kill, it's your dibs. That's pretty much self explanatory. I'm not a dick, and neither are the guys I play with now. If you want something bad enough, people are generally willing to give an item to you, even if they made the kill and had an interest in something that person was carrying. 3. When you're in game, a serious mindset must come first. Myself, and YOU, can die at any moment in this game. Not only do you need to think of the time you've invested, you have to think of the time everyone else has invested. You have to be able to communicate even in the most tense or dire of situations. If we get outplayed, then that's the way of life. Man up, and hit the cities. There will be times to screw around, and this post may make me come off as a hard-ass but I assure you I am anything but. The only time I expect 100% attention is when we/I know that another player is around. 4. Be mature. And don't be a dick. Easy enough, right? I know for some that's a hard concept. 5. Last but not least: 2+ weeks of DayZ experience. 6. A working MIC. <-- 100% mandatory no acceptions. :) To end this I say -- There's a reason I'm posting this in the Bandit section. We're bandits. We don't ask if people are friendly, and we always shoot first. I don't condone going to Cherno or Elektro fully kitted out to kill fresh spawns. It serves no purpose for me to do so. If you wish to do so, I won't stop you from getting enjoyment out of your game-time. That's your call. If I find out anyone hacks, or talks about hacking, it's immediate grounds for removal from the teamspeak and anything to do with the squad I intend to run. Period. I also will remove you if for any reason you attempt and/or succeed in killing anyone else on our teamspeak, regardless if they're with our group at the time. Period. What I need is people who take this game as serious as possible while still trying to have fun. A squad takes care of each others backs, looks out for one another, and has fun while doing it. That's my goal. Right now, only a few of us play at random times, so I know things will start slow. I am aiming to get a squad of 5 or so that have steady, reliable play-times. I also will need to get you on teamspeak and talk with you for a bit. Find out what kind of person you are. We all know this game is brutal. We all know it's time consuming. I cannot risk the time of the people I play with, and my own... so I have to get an idea that I can trust you. If you stab me in the back, fine. I'll take the hit, but I hope it doesn't come to that. I'll leave you with my steam ID. From there we can talk, and I'll hand out our TS3 info if you wish to join up. Thanks for your time! STEAM: Kevin51501

About an E3 interview and "radio towers"
KField86 replied to hammerfistxi's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
They obviously will be, since we are being used to test features, and if radio towers are going to be a feature, we're sure as hell going to see and test it before release, lol. -
Just shoot on sight if they have a weapon, because chances are they'll shoot you if they see you carrying something they like, want, or need. If they have are unarmed, let them pass. The goal of this game is survival. Do whatever you have to do to achieve that goal. If you have the drop on someone, give them a warning, but as soon as they get themselves into a position to engage you, forget warning them and go for the throat. I lost the "survivor" mentality a longggggggggg time ago, so my opinion may vary. I can't tell you how many times in my early days that I had asked someone if they were friendly, just to be greeted with a rifle round in the mouth.
