All (8) of our vehicles gone. How?
KField86 replied to headbasha's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm another person who finds vehicle hoarding laughable. I guess I just don't see the need for 8 vehicles unless you're preventing anyone else on the server from ever having one. I mean, I have 3 or 4 now in our camp, but I have no reason to find any more unless someone steals them. I'm not going to knock you or anyone for having that many, it's just personal opinion. -
I get 60fps 95% of the time when roaming, or if I've been playing long it drops slightly, dunno why really. In towns, I get around 35-40fps. This is at 1920x1080p. All settings set to high except AA and PP off, and I believe shadows is set for normal. My rig: CPU: Intel i7 2600K Sandy bridge (Running at around 4.4Ghz) GPU: MSI "Twin Frozr" 448-core GTX 560 Ti *1280mb 320 bit GDDR5* Ram: 8GB Corsair Vengeance 1866 120g SSD for Arma II / DayZ 1.5 TB Seagate 7200rpm HDD

Help me understand the butthurt over PK'ing, Bandits, PvP, killers, etc.
KField86 replied to ElemenoP's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Absolutely, positively, 100% agree with the OP, and it's the exact same mindset I have when approaching the game. -
I giggled. Because I've gamed with people from Vancouver and they've mentioned the same thing.

No one knows what's going on during a serious zombie apocalypse because it hasn't happened. People only know what they see on TV, or in video games, or what they read in World War Z by max brooks. I admit, Max knows his shit and is very logical, but until we know how the human mind would actually think in a situation where death is imminent unless you focus on yourself and solely yourself, we'll never know.
-
Yeah, I agree. Definitely not. That game looks like borderlands with zombies. I liked borderlands, and I'd probably like to play that game. But it's not a game one could sit down and keep playing for hours upon hours and still have that same amount of psychological attachment that you get with DayZ. There is no other game on the market right now that has me so on edge every time I play, except DayZ. No game gets my heart racing, gets me anxious, makes my forehead and palms sweat and has me trying to think 200 steps ahead either. That's what makes DayZ one of the best games ever made, and it's not even a full fledged game yet either, which is just miraculous.

Truthfully, I don't think it will come. Balance will only come if this mod gets taken over by a major publisher who follows the traditional guide-lines for their video games. It will not come as long as it's independently owned and operated by Rocket & his crew. He has said multiple times he is not interested in balance, and is only interested in recreating the authenticity. An example of this would be lowering the damage output of a .50 caliber sniper rifle, so that it isn't always a one hit kill. You can't do that if you want to stick with realism, because even if you hit someone in the leg with a .50 cal, it would take their leg off, and sever main arteries that would usually result in a person bleeding to death in minutes or even less. Rocket has one vision for this game, and that's making it authentic. There is a difference between Realism and Authenticity . There are plenty of things in this game that aren't authentic, but he can only do so much without having a major uproar from the DayZ community, but even with that said... he's been very firm on catering to his vision, and no one else's.
-
That's all well and good, but you forgot something. This isn't a game. It's not meant to be balanced. And it's not meant to cater to one persons specific opinion. What you think about DayZ, is not even close to the majority of peoples thoughts on it, and that's pretty relevant when you consider this experiment is approaching having had 700,000 unique players since April 13th, and it hasn't had one shred of marketing for it other than word of mouth on Reddit and other online outlets. The game, whether you like to believe it or not, is a huge success, and while it may lack some features -- the fact remains that there is no other game on the market that can play on human emotions as well as this game can. The reason it is still Alpha, is because for one of the first times in the gaming industry, it is being produced by a man who isn't catering to the popular idea of making a game "fun" or "easy to play". It's being produced by someone who doesn't care what anyone else thinks the game should be, and what wouldn't work.. he has one vision, and he's following it regardless of anyone thinks it's wrong or not. That's what's going to make DayZ, when it's released as a stand alone client, take home many game of the year awards, if it won't do it already as a fucking MOD. In alpha. There is no reason the mod shouldn't still be in Alpha as well. Alpha is for testing new features and ideas, and beta is for fixing and polishing things. It makes me extremely happy knowing this game is in Alpha, because that means we're going to see a lot of new ideas being tested. Ideas we, the community, will probably think are extremely awesome & unique... as well as some that we may think "meh". That's what makes this whole thing great. We're apart of gaming history, and that's simply because there hasn't been a single product like this, and I feel privileged to be able to take this Journey with Rocket.

Sniper problem solved!! I think?
KField86 replied to Itchy (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yup. Someone likes michonne a little too much, lol. -
If you read what I said, I didn't say that at all. I said I treat it like a good luck charm. It's purely coincidental that since I've had one in my inventory, I haven't lost a firefight. Placebo effect.

MY Story: Most Epic Banditry Ever.
KField86 replied to D4saken1's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
We need more stories like this on the DayZ forums. For all the people who post up 1000 word stories, take notes... because this is how it's done. -
That's a voice comms overlay... facepalm.

I just realized your clan tag is Umbrella Biohard Countermeasures Service. Jeez that brings me back to RE3. Props.

Taking out 5 players in the span of 10 minutes.
KField86 replied to pixel91's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Kudos to them for staying in. -
Because it's a fun game-style and it's decently challenging in comparison to mowing someone down with a stream of bullets? We get one shot. If we miss, or don't kill someone... they alt F4. At least, 95% of the player base does. Why do you like using an assault rifle? It couldn't be because you find it fun or anything, right?
-
I knew it. Fantastic. :P
-
I've had about 4 or 5 of them now. I've had one in my bags for almost a week as a good luck charm. It's working. I've won every firefight I've engaged in on this character with relative ease. I think I've only been hit once by an AK74 while I was zig zagging in between trees. I ended up hitting prone behind a stone wall, and lit the guy up as he was bee-lining straight for me like a charging bull without paying any attention what so ever to what I might of been planning. I almost felt bad for the poor guy. I just knew he was all excited thinking "Yes, I'm gonna get this asshole! ... WTF!!!"

DayZ is the first game I've ever seen ruined by hackers
KField86 replied to Blay Wayne's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've dealt with about 4 hackers in my time playing the game. Only died to them once, and unfortunately had to abort to the rest. I hate having to disconnect, but I refuse to lose my shit to some script kiddy. Two of those 4 were of the invincible variety that the OP has experienced. Multiple .50 cal rounds doing over 30K+ damage a piece, and they shake it off. Sorry but I'm not going to stay in the game with that kind of shit. It'll get sorted out with time. -
just looted a working lootable L85, so that is working again i gues
KField86 replied to GunzBlazin's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
^^ Ouch. Lost an M107 that way because I was switching to my backup AR in a big rush since I had a player kinda get the jump on me and he was too close to snipe really. I was like SHIT..but thankfully I dropped the guy. -
Look Both Ways Before Crossing...
KField86 replied to Ancient (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Reminds me of the time I took out a squad of 3 guys, presumably hackers at NW airfield. I ended up stumbling upon them with my DMR. I was about 40m away from them and I have no idea how they didn't see me. Then again, the cement wall would of blocked there sight of me. I let them pass by, and then they start crouch walking and I emptied a DMR mag into all of their backs, and killed all of them. As I was looting their corpses, they teleported to me in an APC (The stryker from Arma II I believe it was) and all I had time to do was turn around and see them barreling at me. Was soo pissed. -
Anyone in Cherno? The Good Old Dayz.
KField86 replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Haha I've done the same exact thing! I would sit there saying "Sniper on the tower in cherno. He's picking people off!" if I had heard any gunfire. Sooner or later, you'd get the heros saying they'd ambush him, or you'd see people climbing the ladder trying to get the drop on him. Then I'd be sitting about 600m away with an M24 dropping them as they climbed the ladder. Just to hear the cries in side chat of "OMFG HOW DID HE SHOOT ME CLIMBING THE LADDER WTFF!!!!11" Miss that. -
You can't be serious.

Seems legit.

Chernarus Quarantine Force {CQF}
KField86 replied to [email protected]'s topic in Clan / Group Recruitment
Lol, they get owned and start spam kicking. Pretty sure it's been a wide known fact for a long time that you are not to kick any player for any reason other than malicious threats and/or racism. Facepalm. -
BIG +1
