My L85 hasn't gone anywhere in weeks and I've switched back and forth between it and my AS50(Put my M107 away for a change) more times than I can count. Hasn't disappeared or been eaten yet. I've gotten incredibly lucky. No inventory wipes. No spawning in the debug plains. No random deaths. And I've been playing for two months. *knock on wood.... twice*

I knew it wasn't a DayZ patch because if it was that would imply "Balancing" and we all know rocket aint balancing shit. I'm sure rocket could tweak the values if he wants to bring them back to their original state for day z.

Well unfortunately since I have Vilayer, I have to wait for them to shut it down and install it for me on their end. So right now, I'm stuck on 1.7.2.3 / 1.62 / 95312 beta and I've already updated my client to 1.7.2.4 so my server is useless at the moment. I mean, I can do everything else in my admin panel but as far as updating the servers patch, I can't do it. If I knew that before hand I probably would of went with another company. One thing I will say about Vilayer though, is that the server they gave me was a newer box, and it's DAMN quick. Fast loading. GREAT fps. ZERO stutter. Great loot spawns. Haven't had any bugs. Only desync I've gotten has been hive related and not from the server. Ping is a constant 40-45. I'm happy with it on that end, I just wish I could of got a dedicated where I could of hosted dayz on it, and done all the updating myself, but beyond that I can't really complain. I paid the extra money over companies like HFB and Host Altitude because I got whitelisted in less than an hour and had a working(flawless) server within that amount of time, and as soon as I hopped on teamspeak, I had someone actually GREET ME and ask me what I needed, instead of me having to ask them to help. Which is nice, but right now I assume they are overloaded to the max. I timeout even trying to connect to vilayer.com. I can manually update via the updates section in my ACP, but the 1.7.2.4 patch is not available on the vilayer "network" yet so I can't manually update it myself. I have to wait for them to do it, or once they release it I can do it. I'm still new to this, but I think Im getting the hang of it. If I'm wrong feel free to correct me.. but my only update options are: Arma2OA 95312 This is a special version of Arma2 with early release to Vilayer, It fixes certain issues with Gamespy and other performance increases. PLEASE NOTE AN UPDATE FOR DAYZ IS CURRENTLY PENDING SO ALL SERVERS WILL BE UPDATED AFTER THIS UPDATE. ^^ what my server is running. And 95248 Mine is setup to enforce beta version 95248.. and the Arma 2 version is 95312. This way people can actually connect to my server. There was some miscommuncation before and it was setup running 95208 and people who were using gamespy could not login to my server, or something or other. Rocket, can we expect instance ids over 6000 to be getting vehicles enabled on their servers with this update? It's kind if disappointing not being able to have any vehicles. This is a Vilayer hosted server. Everything else has been flawless so far.

Hey guys. I know there's so many servers to choose from, but I figured I'd throw mine in the pot. This server is located in florida (I originally planned for NY but there were no boxes available(even though vilayer advertised they had them) so instead of waiting 4 days or so, they were kind enough to offer me an instance ID right away under the stipulation that it would be a jacksonville server. I live in NY and I ping around 45-60 and the server has been extremely stable. No getting stuck at waiting for host. No hanging at "loading". It loads up VERY quick, and there's not much server side desync, if any. If there's desync it's HIVE related, and we all know hive is having some problems right now. The server is running 95248 beta as well as the vilayer 95312 arma patch that apparently fixes a bunch of gamespy related issues and helps improve overall performance. FPS has been great, but we'd love to get more players, although it's hard to attract a lot of players when there's only 4-5 clan members on the server at any time. So come one, come all. I am always maintaining the server, and doing my best to keep the hacking to an absolute minimum. I've already banned two hackers today for catching their scripts in my log (Teleporting). within 2 minutes of it happening. Btw, you will not need to update to anything special to join. If you use six launcher, just update to whatever is the latest, and you'll be able to join our server just fine.When 1.7.2.4 comes out, it will be automatically updated as well. Since we were assigned an instance id that is greater than 6000, there are no vehicle spawns on the server. It sucks I know, but hopefully the DayZ team will quickly to restore vehicles to these instance ids. I believe vilayer said we should expect them in the next few days. We haven't found a helicopter yet, although that's not to say someone else on the server hasn't and has it hidden well.

Purchased a server, and am waiting inside their teamspeak with a representative from their company. The only step left for my server to be operational is to obtain an instance ID, and he's the only one who can give it to me and the other 10 people waiting inside the team speak. We've been waiting for damn near 4 hours in this teamspeak. If anyone from vilayer is paying attention, it might be a good idea to have more than one person handling ID requests for servers. Me and my group are trying to play, and it's rather annoying that the only step needed is to just obtain an ID. It's in the middle of the day in europe. I'll give the guy the benefit of the doubt that he may be working but I feel like I have to sit in this teamspeak all day long if I want to be one when he hands out our IDs. Some people may say "cry more" but it's principal. I've paid for a product that I STILL can't use days later. PS: If you haven't gotten the clue... he's AFK in the support channel so for all we know he's rubbing one off(And if so, props for the stamina dude). A simple "Hey guys, sorry I'm tied up at the moment I will be back to provide you with your IDS as soon as possible would of been nice.

Vilayer will provide you with an instance ID. They get them from DayZ devs in batches, and then they are given out. I got my ID about 2 hours after I made this post, but now I'm having more issues. I can't even access vilayer's website. And also my admin panel wasn't working for about 2 hours, and I was getting randomly kicked from my server for something to do with battle-eye. keep in mind, my server was running FLAWLESSLY about 8 hours prior. I turn my computer off, log back in tonight, and all hell breaks lose, so I did a fresh install of arma/arma oa/dayz/ six launcher, everything, and now I have my control panel back and I'm able to login and manage my server. I still can't get on their website though. I can ping there website fine so I'm not banned or anything but I have a feeling there website is blocking certain IP addresses for god knows why. I'll be contacting my ISP tomorrow to get my public IP changed. PS" Now I'm trying to figure out why I'm not "allowed" to update to the latest arma beta build. I'm running 95208, while others are running 95310, etc. In my config options it states "Force server to run build 95208". I have the option to update to 95248. The whole thing is really weird thought because apparently I'm running the latest test build 95312 which was released only to vilayer, yet my server name doesn't say this. It just says 1.7.2.3/95208. I wish I could rename my server to reflect this as I have a feeling the build I'm running may have something to do with the amount of players my server is receiving, so now I'm waiting on support again to fill me in on how this is supposed to be. Am I running the right version or not, and if not...what do I need to do to make sure I am on the right version that most servers are on. I want players to be able to connect to my server if they've patched to the most recent build via six launcher and not have to do some special magic trick just to get to the right build I am on.

I'm having major issues now too. Earlier today, around 10:00am, I had my server started and whitelisted from Vilayer. US1313. I try to login tonight to play, and I'm immediately getting kicked from my own server. So,I goto my control panel, it doesn't work. Sometimes when I goto the ACP, I'll click on an option and it'll just load & load and do absolutely nothing. Other times, I'll click to go into my home panel, and it'll send me to an ERROR 404 page! I also cannot access Vilayer.com! At all. No matter what browser I use. I've gotten to use my server for a grand total of 4 hours after I paid for it. Guys what is going on? I have to say, thanks to Casey for being so respectful and helping me as best as he can. The problem is not on Vilayer's end since I was able to ping to both their website and acp.vilayer.com as well.. so something has to be going on on my end, but nothing has changed since this moring when I was playing. In fact, my computer had been off! Is it true that Vilayer put out a patch without letting people know and that is the reason why people are having trouble connecting to the website. I can almost guarantee that if you can't get on vilayer.com, you aren't going to be able to use the ACP. Even though Casey says they aren't linked, it just seems too coincidental.

I bought a server today and ran into this problem. The only reason I wanted admin powers was so that I could warn people in global when server restarts were going to take place. A friend turned me onto BERCon. It's an EXE. Just punch in your server info, then your RCON password and then type "say -1 ***Whatever here***** " and it will broadcast it to the entire server under the disguise of battleeye. Simple really.

Basically what I'm asking is... sincfe I'm new to the server hosting bizz, are there any programs out there that will automatically restart my server every 12 hours and give a warning message to the players on my server? Also, what about a ping kicker? Once I get these two things established I'll be all set. Thanks in advance!

What do you mean the control panel immediately after you paid? If I go on there site and click control panel, it just shows what tools will be available to me once the server goes live. I can't change anything or anything like that. I'm stuck in a waiting game until the server is ready. I'm just sitting at pending. I've gotten email confirmation that I've paid. I have both an invoice number and order/transaction #. But that's all I have right now. So looks like I'm waiting for them to email me saying the server is ready and where to get the admin tools to maintain the server. I don't mind a 12-24 hour wait. I was going to go with host altitude and most likely would of but there NY servers keep getting pushed further and further back, and since I have squad members in london, as well as mostly everyone else being on the east coast. At first I thought HFB as well, but then I had several people even taking the time to PM me saying their customer support is non existent, so I forked over the extra $10-15 and went with Vilayer for the auto whitelisting and auto time changer.However so far I've gotten zero support from Vilayer. Not even an email. Someone said they had a teamspeak? I'm almost unsure if I should of picked up a dedicated box and just hosted DayZ on it.

Automatic whitelisting -- Does this mean if I purchase a server from Vilayer who claims all their servers are whitelisted... does this mean I still need to send information to support.dayz? Or does it mean that once I purchase the server, it will be available on the server list with my chosen RCON password, and things like that. I'm purchasing a NY based server from Vilayer today. After I pay them and the transaction is complete, will my server be up on the hive list? What server tools would I have to download if any? As long as I have video proof, and I have proof from scripts in the logs, I am going to ban an excessive hacker. Blacklist be damned. Combat dc'ers and the like, your time will come soon. But basically, even though there's a ton of stickies, I still haven't really figured the ins and outs. Vilayer doesn't tell me there game servers specifications so I can't tell dayz support what kind of specs they are running, which I would guess is why they are automatically white listed since they fit the parameters? Basically, once I click purchase from Vilayer for my 40 slot NY server...where do I go from there? Will the server be up and running and able to be played by my guys and the community alike. Are the server tools added into the purchase so that I can monitor logs to try and catch potential scripters? I know I'm going to be flamed for this, but I haven't hosted a server in like 11 years. It's been an extremely long time. So I'm hoping anyone can help me here. How long is the wait for a server from Vilayer. I'm going to be ordering within the next couple of hours. Will it be a couple to a few hour wait for it to be on the server lists? What program will I use to restart the servers? Vilayer servers come with an automatic time signature, and I'm most likely going to be changing the server from GMT -5 / UTC + 8 or something like that. Question though. Is restarting the server every 12 hours enough? Obviously if there is a massive hack attack, I would probably do an unannounced(I mean, I would give about a 5 minute countdown) to restart the server. One last question. I do not want to host one of those servers where it's day-light all the time. I would like to plan my server restart about half way through the night-time period of the server, so you have a long day cycle and a short night cycle. This way it appeases both types of gamers. Guys please don't be too harsh on me. Like I said, the last time I ran a server it was through NFO for Call of Duty back in 2003(Making me feel old). Is this possible? I mean, I'm pretty much going to be running this myself with some donations here and there but I'm pretty much in the dark. PS: I KNOW there are a lot of stickies, but none seemed to answer my particular questions. What must be done once I name my server & click purchase. I imagine it's not as easy as hopping on and playing right?

Been alive on my previous character for 17 days. Here's a list of some of the things I had... AS-50 (My beloved) M4A1 CCO SD (My second beloved) GPS Rangefinder NVG Coyote Backpack Map Compass Plenty of ammunition for both SVD Camo with 6 mags in my tent. M24 with 3 DMR Mags M14 with more DMR mags. I let my guard down, and lost it all. I've been waiting to die for the past couple days now, and finally...we make the fatal mistake of going to a high population(I mean about 65 players) and sniping at NWAF. Well, about 5 minutes after I get there I hear an M107 going off. Ok, not a problem. I'm completely concealed, but I go prone inside a building anyway just to make sure. After the shooting stopped, I lifted my head for one moment and caught the muzzle flash and boom, KO. I knew it came from the west, so I sent 2 guys with ARs to flank around. They found the sniper and killed him. His loot? M107 TWS. Congratulations Hacker, you got the best of me. Anyway, after they loot the legitimate items from his corpse, my buddies go back and cover my body as I'm running back up full speed from Kamenka(Fastest route usually). JUST as I get there, my body within sight, my body disappears with everything on it. Couldn't tell you how frustrated I was but I shrugged it off because this game is Alpha and I will not lower myself to the people who constantly bitch about not having things there way. To be honest, the hacker did me a favor. The game had gotten dull. I had acquired 16 kills with the AS50 and M107 combined. So I respawn and start heading for camp, which we had saved and loaded up about 4 hours prior. Empty. Along wiith two atvs and our blue pimp van. This game is a cruel bitch, but I'm in Elektro now gearing back up and as soon as I find an Enfield, I'm going to Cherno and I'm going to shoot every spawn camping retard with a .50 cal as if my life depended on it. I've had better luck getting loot just watching for the CoD kiddies to show up on that northern kill, so I can flank them and put an enfield into the back of their neck. I'm not bitching, I'm actually happy. For the first time in 17 days I am playing stress free and doesn't give a fuck. (Grammar nazi it, I dare you.). I know within 24 hours I'll be kitted back up with help from my squad, but one thing I thought of in this whole process is that..and keep in mind it's just an idea... would there be a way for keep dead bodies in the game, ie: without disappearing unless most of the loot has been taken off that player? I know it would be really hard to do it any other way. Example being: A body won't disappear unless the user of that avatar logged off the story, but then you'd have fails who get owned just disconnect so you couldn't take any of their gear? It's a truly tricky slope. Dare I say the despawn timer needs to be a bit longer. I'm one of the few who don't demand for immediate fixes knowing this is an alpha and different theories have to be tested first, but to be able to loot back my supplies just to watch my gear randomly melt into the ground is just upsetting considering I made it back in time. Also, before anyone makes the remark that maybe someone hid the body, no one touched it except for me. The 3 guys with me stood guard of it. I was the only one who approached it, and as soon as I interacted with the gear menu, the body vanished. Which I'm guessing is related to time. So why not extend it? You may say "Riveting tale chap" or "Splendid fantasy indeed" and things like that. I'm just trying to pitch ideas as to how to keep bodies respawning with high valuable loot still on them, arguably the "best loot" since I had everything minus the one inventory slot(Which I think is saved for radios) accounted for. Really guys, I'm not bitching, nor am I really mad. I'm refreshed that I get to start over and in no time, I will find a cherno sniper with a .50 cal and flank him and reacquire my precious rifle. :) Before you say Alpha Alpha Alpha (Since all of your parrots resort to that one line, please make sure you refer to the statement I made about knowing this is alpha and these kinds of things happen. I am merely offering suggestions to the development teams. If you disagree, I'm sorry I hurt your feelings enough to post. If you agree and stand by my statements, I applaud you. Good luck on your adventures in DayZ and never let the hunt die. EDIT: Oh I should happen to explain what happened to the SVD/M24 in our tents. They were found within a matter of 3 hours, and while this is kind of the norm, I really tend to think this was the work of a hacker with the ability to see everything on the map. We were so close to being out of bands. In fact, another 100 meters and we would of been.I was there before this incident went down, and shortly afterwards I had a buddy near by check the tents to see what I could outfit myself with. Nothing except a can of sardines there. 7 high end weapons gone, massive amounts of medical supplies and ammo for weeks. All gone. Again, I can't complain about this. People get lucky all the time. I just found it funny since the one of the members of the clan the server belongs to had the M107 TWS, which leads me to believe this was their server, and also our tents disappearing shortly after after they hadn't been found in over a week, is kind of coincidental. Regardless, you won't see me quitting this game over shit like this. You live and you learn. Oh and if you're out there, guy with the thermal M107, come on bro... play the game it was meant to be played with the weapons available in it. I'm not going to name and shame anyone before anyone askes. Sorry for the long post people. Just an experience I thought I'd share. If it needs to be moved, feel free to do so.

Instead of flaming you like half of the community would, I listened to your feedback and took it in for all it's worth. I can understand where you're coming from. Still, it's just frustrating to have 3 guys overwatching your body since you died from a hacker, only to have it disappear while in the loot menu reacquiring it. Such is life though.

I'm not going to lie.. U.B.C.S has intrigued me quite a bit. One: Because I mean come on... I'm probably one of the biggest nuts there is when it comes to Resident Evil. Respecially 1, 2, 3, CV and REMAKE. I've seen some videos of these guys operate and any clan that revolves themselves around the umbrella corporation is cool in my book. Now, anyway... If you guys have room for another player, whose been playing this game for a month, knows exactly what there doing, is definitely going to raise an eyebrow as far as my interest goes. I'm not going to get my hopes up, but I just want to let you guys know about me. 1. 26 years old. Mature. Respectful. Friendly. Also loves to joke around, and bust each others balls. I've been playing this game for two months now. I've gotten pretty much everything I need minus a rangefinder (Coyote, AS-50, M4A1 CCO SD, 1911, NVGs,) and I know my ins and outs around this map. I'm a bandit, but I won't always shoot on sight if someone makes there presence known that they are friendly and would rather go on their merry way. I'd never think about pulling the hammer on those guys... but what I'm looking for is a tight knit community of mature gamers who love to have fun. Whether it's raiding, owning up the airfrield, playing tactical, getting the best gear possible, goofing off and everything else... I'm all for it. I'm also interested because these guys seem to be Resident Evil fans which makes them awesome in my book. Now, I'm not going to bed. I never did get a chance to play Arma but I did play america's army for about 6 months and that game requires the utmost professionalism. I'm just looking for a more serious group with players on every night, doing raids, and whatever else. I used to play under the name Kevin in game, since it being my first name..using it goes without saying. That was until I saw that there was always a kevin in server every time I joined and I'd get kevin(2) or something like that. So I changed it back to KfieLd. Problem solved.

Rocket, how goes the fight against the hackers? That's the one thing making me jaded to the point where it's just not fun having to deal with this almost once a night, with most cases resulting in losing all of your equipment and/or character.

Hey, was watching a stream and I saw in the stream that two people in the group tried to equip an M107 and it was spitting out their coyote backpacks on the ground, so that you couldn't have an M107 as your primary as well as having a backpack on? Are other people seeing this? Truthfully I have no idea what build they were playing but it was recorded earlier tongiht, so it may be the latest build.. Last night I was playing just fine with my m107 equipped, and I was switching primaries often without losing my bag or anything. Kinda curious to find this out so I know not to update to the latest build. It happened to one person, and then another one confirmed it when someone in the stream said it should work fine and to check again. Don't feel like having to choose between my pack and my sniper really. :|

Truth. Anyone that's eligible to shoot a firearm tends to be taught this before anything else. Never point the gun at something you don't intend to kill. If you pull the trigger, you better mean it.

And by you using a hacked gun makes you no different than a person who would spawn it in with the intention of using it. Whatever floats your boat! :) Thankfully someone axed you a question before you could however.
