  1. Find a GPS :) Or get a map(At the very least a compass is all that's needed to travel if you use an outside map like dayzdb and read road signs) and hold shift and left click once on the place you'd like to travel to to create a waypoint, which will lead you to the exact position you want to be and tell you how far you must travel to get there. Pretty cool feature. Most people who never played Arma had no idea waypoints existed. These are not the same as the bigger black X map markers that everyone on the server can see where people usually leave notes like "Sniper here" etc. The waypoint only you yourself can see. When you shift & click, it will create a faint circle on the map. When you're done with the waypoint, just mouse over that circle and hit delete on your keyboard and it'll be gone. I don't like servers that show your position on the map, because then it can also show other peoples positions on the map if you're within a close enough proximity, so even if you haven't seen them, you will know they are there and to me that breaks the immersion. Same thing with nametags, which I have turned off since they defeat the entire purpose of trying to acquire a rangefinder, or having one already. It's also a cheap way to scan an area you're entering by just mousing around looking for any yellow names to pop up. This way, you have to actually use some brain cells. :) (This wasn't an insult at you, btw.) And like I said, I'm even debating taking crosshairs off the server(3rd person will always stay however, I can't live without it for when I'm traveling, I always go into 1st person for combat situations). The only thing I use them for is for when I have to back pedal and take quick shots at zombies at the same time as I'm trying to escape quickly. If I could sneak around zombies more(This patch is a bit much honestly, with the zombie's visual skills that is.. especially combined with the great gun nerf) and not have to get into a situation where I have to fire from the hip, I'd of taken the X-hairs off already. You don't hip-fire an assault rifle in real life, so if the goal is authenticity, why have it here? Meh. I'll decide soon enough. Depends on what my guys want. But, sorry there's no map location spots for you :(
  2. I was almost going to go with them, but went with Vilayer instead. Support damn near 24/7 and it's the best kind. Live over teamspeak. Also, it takes me about 25-30 seconds from when I click to join my server on the list to when I'm actually in game and able to move my character. No getting stuck at loading or waiting for character. It hasn't happened ONE time. Even when the server was at it's peak capacity. We haven't gotten a ton of players on average due to gamespy being retarded and sometimes our server fails to show up on six launcher, and since everyone uses it... they don't see it to join it so we tend to average out around 15-18 players, with it getting up to 28-32 around peak time which is pretty good numbers for the kind of environment I shoot for when I play this game. Trying to get everyone to run DayZCommander though because our server always shows up right away. It's also one of the only servers I know of in the FL area(Jacksonville specifically) and I still ping around 45-50 in upstate NY which is fantastic. Sure Vilayer is a bit more each month(based out of the UK ie: exchange rate) but with their support, easy to use ACP, it's worth every penny, and my server has not crashed ONCE since I've owned it. The only times it goes down is when I take it down for updates or other configurations, or scheduled restarts to clean things up. It gets desync, but it's HIVE related, not our server's end. Pretty sure everyones experiencing that now. I get far more red desync this patch than I've gotten since like pre 1.5.
  3. All I hear in this thread is crying. I have a Ural, a UAZ, Blue Van, and 2 ATVs and not one fuck do I give. Finders keepers. Now come find them, and you can have them too. If you don't eat a bullet in the process, you earned them. That's how the games played, boys. I'd say gentlemen but it appears this thread is devoid of men.

As long as I didn't hack it in right?

I've read the threads, I've seen the arguments, and I know how battle-eye works. I have no reason to sit here and lie to you. I WATCHED my friend pick up an Mk16 or the silenced semi auto sniper rifle. He mucked around with it for about 4 or 5 hours..didn't even kill anyone with it in fact.. We played pretty much all day. We join up on teamspeak the next day, "Dude, I'm fucking global banned?" He logs in every day around the same time I do, and everyone in my group knows that hacking is immediately grounds for removal so I know he wasn't running other scripts. I mean, we would run together each and every time we played DayZ and I'm pretty sure I would of noticed something out of the ordinary ie: hacks being used. Bottom line: He found a Mk16. And was global banned. And as I already said, I have no reason to lie. People can kick and scream and say "Do you even know how battle-eye works" but the fact is, 95% of the people who say this, are only capable of saying it because they were told HOW it works by rocket. I don't deny there's a ton of people crying foul and trying to get appealed by claiming they just picked up the weapon when they did indeed spawn it in, but I know for utmost certainty, my buddy did not. As I literally watched him pick it up off a corpse near prig.

As long as I didn't hack it in right?

We all know there's nothing legally stating he can't use it if he picks it up. It's called having a moral compass and knowing using a hacked weapon against people who are unable to obtain it is pretty much the same as spawning the weapon in yourself. If I found it, I'd hide it on a body and watch it disappear immediately. Without even second thinking it, because my mind would tell me "that's wrong" and I get much more satisfaction getting kills with a weapon that is found within the mods files, then having to use one that was scripted in for the purpose of having a gigantic advantage. The only thing that changes here is the user. Will you be banned for picking it up? Probably not. Would rocket himself tell you to go ahead and actually use it if you do? FUCK NO. That's the point. They are purposely trying to clean the servers of scripted in weapons on a weekly basis. You're just adding to their work load because chances are you'll die with it, then some other noob will take it and die with it, and so on and so forth. Do whatever you want. If you don't know the difference between right and wrong, there's no help for you. Some people like to play this game fairly. Those people tend to have "skill".
  6. KField86

As long as I didn't hack it in right?

Maybe, maybe not. Battle-eye HAS banned people for this before, but they've swept it under the rug and say "They must of hacked it in". There was a huge argument about it. It's a risk you're going to take, but that's not even the point. By YOU using that hacked weapon, you are effectively hacking yourself. Don't you understand the concept? If I saw you on my server with it, you'd be banned immediately. Without even hesitating. Because using the excuse "I just picked it up, I didn't spawn it in" is pure bullshit. You still KNOW it's a hacked weapon, which means you're hacking while using it . Delete the fucking thing, and find a legitimate AS50. Or be a neckbeard who can't succeed without some kind of ridiculous advantage over others. Your call, bro. Just don't join my server with it. Seriously.
  7. It's all bullshit, The only thing youll encounter are zombies and the occasional bandit since some minor loot spawns there, and there's a pretty high sniper perch. Trollolol.

I wanna go to Green Mountain

Do not go there if you don't want your machine to explode from graphical glitches that are running rampant in 1.7.2.4 right now.

    New server; players not joining

I hear a lot of people are having this problem(I am as well with my server, as it's randomly not showing up on six launcher or the in-game browser (US1313 Hosted by Vilayer) but it usually shows up after a few tries. I believe it's something on gamespy's end that's causing problems with finding certain servers. At least Lee at vilayer was pretty confident of it, and had spoke with Rocket about it being gamespy fouling up. Don't quote me on the part with him talking to rocket though. I may of heard him wrong. Either way, Lee is a smart dude so I'm gonna take his word for it.

    The Game Is Now Un-Playable.

Encountered this too. Actually got in a hilarious firefight today at green mountain. The whole thing was glitched and you couldn't see one foot in front of you. Someone started shooting an AK in my general direction so I just sprayed over 100 rounds out of my MK48 and noticed I got a bandit kill, Hahah. I was cracking up for about 5 minutes. Poor guy. The strange thing is this isn't happening on every single server. I was on my server at the NW Airfield in the industrial compound, and noticed it near the north barracks so I figured it was just a new glitch for the wire fencing. Then I started seeing it in areas where there were crashed humvees and already dead military zombies. Switched servers(I admit, I hopped here to check to see if it would be the same in that location on another server) and to my surprise, no glitches even though the placement of those humvees and corpses are static. So I really don't know what the issue is. It's definitely something to do with the game. It's happening for people with both ATI and Nvidia GPUs and on the latest drivers (some running beta drivers even). This needs to be fixed immediately as it makes playing damn near impossible. If you want us to test the game, let us test the game. We can't the way it is. :\

    Blood bags!!!

Speaking of blood bags, I feel like now instead of zombies breaking legs almost every single time they hit you, they make you bleed on the first strike 99.99% of the time. I played for 4 hours earlier today, and each time I was spotted by a zombie and allowed one to hit me, they always caused me to bleed. EVERY time. I know that's realistic, scratches and bites and what not... but it was never this often before. I'm going through bandages like crazy when you combine that with the fact that even sneaking is borderline impossible in towns with a high density of zeds. And I mean crouch walking/crawling. They still spot me if I'm in there line of sight and at ranges of 50+ meters away. It's pretty rough, but I'll survive. I carry 4 bandages minimum now, and 4 pistol mags(Not so bad since with the gun nerfs, the G17 became my new favorite due to the noise level, easy to use iron sites, accuracy and ammo capacity).
  12. He's telling the truth. When I restart my server, my fps is through the roof. 60 capped. With vsync off around 80-85 and that's on pretty average normal/high settings at 1080p resolution. With fraps running, I get around 40-45 which is perfect for recording. Give it about 2 or 3 hours, and you'll start noticing your fps has decreased by 20% if not more.
  13. He was in his right to kill you. You could of been a threat. He didn't give you a chance to become one. Bandits and their playstyle will never be punished, so as rocket himself has basically said "Quit your fucking bitching and just play the game. This isn't my little pony."
  14. Was just playing in my server when I noticed battleeye was starting to spam something along the lines... "Battleye: Exception Detected" and it repeated that line multiple times. Now, before you call hacker, I fraps all my games I play for youtube purposes, but I didn't quite turn it on yet since I was just in the server near lopatino getting some water. Then, "You were kicked. Battleeye: Client Not Responding" and EVERYONE in my server was kicked as well. 21:58:54 Player ********* kicked off by BattlEye: Client not responding 21:58:54 Player ******** disconnected. 21:58:58 Player ****** kicked off by BattlEye: Client not responding 21:58:58 Player ****** disconnected. 21:58:59 Player ** kicked off by BattlEye: Client not responding 21:58:59 Player ***** disconnected. Just to show an example, here's an excerpt from my server log. Names removed, but that was 3 of the 14 other players who were removed. It's clearly not a cheating issue. Is battle-eye out of date again with 1.7.2.4 and the latest arma beta? (I'm running 95389 along with most others until we see another stable beta come out that fixes some of the graphical issues we're seeing. So far 1.7.2.4 has been a pretty stable patch so I'm happy with that at least. Anyone have a solution for this though? It usually happens after 10 minutes of play-time. It's almost like BE is timing out.
  15. Does that mean the issue with vehicles not spawning in instance ids over 6000 will be sorted out and I'll have vehicles on my server now? I didn't quite understand the comment you made. I'm just waiting for word on the vehicles being added to my server and everyone else with a 6000+ ID.

    New battleeye issue..

Yes, but there is a new arma beta out that supposedly people aren't experiencing this particular BE problem with.but I can't update my server to it yet to test it myself since vilayer isn't hosting the files on the ACP. That was my point. Not everyone on this forum is an idiot.

    Day Z Does Not Work

It's not really that complicated if you just follow it step by step. Six launcher pretty much does everything for you, including getting you into the game.
  18. KField86

Battleye up to date, still crashing.

Just a silly question, but you didn't happen to have two instances of ARMA II OA open at that time, did you? Because if you had, BE will kick you. At least it does for me if I try to load into a game when I already have an arma client open just sitting at like the server browser.
  19. KField86

    New battleeye issue..

Well, I'm pretty much stuck with 95389 since Vilayer has to put up the new beta for me to install and add to my server. I mean, I love the guys at vilayer but still... I should be able to host whatever god damn beta I want on the fly the second it's released if I want to. It's my $48US a month for 40 slots, which is already more expensive than most other providers. I will say though my server has not crashed one time, and it's already very smooth. (90 FPS, 60 FPS with fraps running. I used to never get those numbers, but I know the patches did help things) and the only desync I ever see is red(hive) desync.

    New battleeye issue..

Usually sarcasm doesn't get me laughing but ok, you win this time.

    Why do regular/recruit servers exist?

Speaking of this, hopefully theres any server admins in here but WHAT is the option called for those peripherial bubbles that show up basically showing you zombies that are off-screen? I have my server set to veteran. No nametags. No seeing yourself on the map. But I have 3rd person and Crosshair(this may go too eventually). But I somehow have these damn peripheral bubbles and I want them gone!
  22. I'd catch you with thermal moving 950m out, rangefind you quickly, and then send an AS50 downrange and end that little "I'm tactical!" game in your head :)
  23. They still will drop a zombie with a headshot. The only one I haven't tried it with yet is the regular M9 but considering the M9SD I have does it, I think it's safe to say they all do.

    "Player Music"

Maybe I'm being daft, but this is a term I've heard brought up by a popular youtuber/streamer/dayz player who goes by the name DevilDogGamer. Him and his squad often refer to hearing "Player music" and then alerting everyone that a player is in the area. Does the music in game change when a player is nearby? I never game with the music on anyway even though it's really cool & creepy, I just prefer hearing faint footsteps 20m away which save my life more times than not over some cliche horror music, regardless of how well it fits the games niche. But is this true? These guys are very knowledgeable when it comes to the game. Or I wonder if I'm mistaking this for something entirely different. Either way, can anyone elaborate on this, or if they've even heard of the term being used? I tend to just use zombie spawns as a sign a player is near, so I don't see why I'd want to have music on to let me know a player is close even if I did have it activated in-game.

    Lee Enfield (Dinner Bell)

The gun nerfing was for an ARMA patch. We don't know if dean is or isn't going to revert the original ballistic values to the weapons for DayZ purposes. We all know dean hates the word "balance" so you never know, he may go ahead and re-adjust them. It seems most of the one-hit zombie kill pistols got nerfed but it's strange considering the 9mm is just as strong as a .45acp now which makes no sense. Either way, head shot = kill shot so that makes sense... but the lee enfield I can see it being nerfed. I mean, they can be found anywhere, and can counter-snipe a sniper with a .50 cal sitting 500m away with one round. They were a touch excessive. Did I ever once complain though? Hell no, because that's what I'd do every time I'd die after acquiring all my top tier gear. Grab an enfield, and then find the unlucky bastard noob child sniping fresh spawns in elektro or cherno with a .50 cal and ta-da... instant 50 cal and probably NVG/Coyote backpack to go with it in most cases. :P
