Agreed, there is absolutely zero reason to do absolutely anything outside of a big city or military loot currently. This change should have waited until heli crashes/other random events, player storage (tent hunting), and possibly vehicles. These things create a reason to stop between spawn > axe/water/food/bag > run 20 min to military loot. Currently none of this exists, there is no reason at all to stop anywhere from spawn to military loot outside of basic thirst/hunger mechanics. There is no vehicle to come upon to repair, there is no tent to find for loot, there is no heli crash to go loot. There is just a bunch of empty roads, empty fields, with random scattered small towns which are absolutely irrelevant to run past. There needs to be something meaningful to do during this 20+ min run to military loot.

This is a good explanation of the problem right there. You don't progress at all between spawn and military loot, there's no progression after grabbing a backpack, axe, food, water other than running halfway across the map to a military spawn. At which point you max out or die once you arrive to the people who ran there before you and server hopped for gear. -

But you're not really missing anything because there's literally zero reason to go into one of the small towns on the way to military loot unless you're literally about to die from hunger or thirst. Once you got an axe, backpack, food, and water - things you get fast in the larger towns, you don't need small towns they don't spawn weapons much, there's no variety of weapons in them anyway. This only changes which small towns you run by on your way to military loot and makes it more running to get to the military loot. It doesn't change the fact that you have no reason to do anything on "this wonderful map" without heli crashes, vehicles, etc. This is hardly going to expand player interaction pushing a small base of 40 people max into the map in general walking vaguely towards military loot on their own paths. But I guess going back to walking towards military loot into a bunch of people camping the spot waiting for you so they can gun you down with their superior weaponry is top priority around this place because there's no reason to leave the military gear area once you get there, just sit around and wait for people to show up. -

More running game to reach anything of value is very good. Now people get to run past the smaller towns they never ran past before, much fun. -
I'm tired of having fraps video where I unload into a person only to have them be invincible and be killed without any way to identify who did it. I'm tired of fraps video with an invisible person hacking me to death with an axe without any way to identify the person. I'm tired of fraps video of me being blown up by random nuke garbage without any way to identify who did it. Not having this information only protects hackers, enough of this bullshit.
-
Am I in retard land today or something? I need to back up my suggestion that we need a killed by message with video of hackers killing people without any identifying information? Have you even played this game before? How could you not know that hackers kill people and there's no way to know who they are?As for how this message would come about, how about "X was killed by Y." Man, common sense is clearly lost on some people here.
-
I'm not here to report anything specific, I'm here to suggest that when a person is killed, there be a "killed by" message, so those of us who fraps their sessions can easily submit proof of the action and identify the offender. There's no reason why this identifying information should be hidden considering the rampant hacking going on.
-
Why the hell would I post a video of me being killed by an unknown hacker who I can't even identity? What a waste of my hard drive space that garbage is. Are you dense or something? Why should people not be able to identify who killed them with the rampant hacking going on in this game? Also, this isn't a "report" it's a suggestion you fucking idiot, learn what different sections of a forum means.

Passworded servers should be forced onto a separate hive so all the scrubs who want to farm all day without any risk can't come with that gear and fight the real men who get their gear with the threat of death at any time.
-
Yeah, private servers where people farm all day with no risk to use the gear on public servers to smash people who played the game with actual risk. Sounds like a great plan. Just figure out how to make a private server with a separate hive if you want to lock it down so bad, there's plenty of resources out there if you want it that bad.

Possible admin abuse -US 273- (Video)
BonnyBrown replied to Bambi (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
The thing is, it is admin abuse. The average player would have had to just suck it up and lose their tents/vehicles/gear if they had been attacked by hackers (not that there is any evidence they were hackers), they don't get some magical direct line to the admin with free restarts whenever they get killed or their base found, but since this was an admin's camp, they get to keep their stuff and restart the server to get their vehicles back... Then on top of that abuse, they get to lock the server to move their stuff? lol... Ridiculous. -
So then let's see all the logs which prove anything. All you people have shown is a signature error which could be cause by anything.Face it, the guy who banned them has already admitted that it was done because of those specific logs. Now you're coming in here and trying to say there's more to it, without evidence. So was the ban due to these logs or was it due to some magical logs which only you're allowed to see? You two need to get your spin straight because at this point it looks like you're spinning in different directions trying to justify these bans. The reality is you guys have nothing legitimate in terms of proof of actual hacking/cheats/etc or you'd have already posted it though, so lol.
-
Banned because a file signature was off, which could easily be a result of an incomplete update or installation, which the person wasn't even able to use even had it been a hack (forced disconnect within seconds). So, no evidence of actually hacking, just some assumption that should have been cleared up when it was explained how easily this error message could be shot off... Looks like this admin is on a power trip based on his posts initially requiring a "mod" to post in reply to explain something that anyone with a cursory understanding of running a server should understand and now saying rocket himself would have to intervene to get them unbanned. All over a basic error message... Ah well, scrubby server admins who are nothing in the real world trying to exercise what small amount of power they have over people in their internet lives is nothing new. Maybe dayz staff should show them how insignificant they are and blacklist this pathetic server or at least hand out some warnings.
-
You've never seen the hacked weapons on the server, but now all of a sudden you banned them before that because they had hacked weapons. That apparantly you had never seen... But somehow you had seen them and they were banned for that... Oh wait, nope you were still riding the DC during pvp accusation at that time. This guy's clearly a liar. What a joke.
-
Why did the story change from dcing during a fight to now magically using hacked weapons? Admin sounds like he's full of shit because of this. Also, you're not supposed to ban for people simply using weapons which may or may not be legit, unless you have evidence that they spawned them in. Especially considering they were not running around with a tank or something blowing stuff up, just a gun which could have been picked up off any dead person who got it from god knows where. People like this admin make me think there needs to be a better way to protect the logs from tampering. He could find an actual hacker, change the name/id attached to that event, and then ban them. Hopefully in a standalone version we could get some sort of encryption that would take a skilled hand to tamper with and not some 9 year old scrub editing a text file like this guy. Not that it matters, the dayz staff aren't doing shit to deal with people like this guy. I highly doubt any server has ever been blacklisted because of admin abuse.

So in other words you banned him from the dayz server for messing with your TS (which you gave him admin rights to) and for putting markers on the map?The first doesn't warrant a ban on the dayz side at all, ban on TS for sure. The second I have not seen anyone from the dev team say this was even close to being considered ban-worthy, but they may decide that it is. That is, if you have proof it was him that made the markings. Could have been anyone for all we know. Could have been you that put them there so you could use it as an excuse to ban him. Also, the level of ignorance when it comes to legality issues you displayed in that post was great, loving it, would read again. A+++ -
what is it with you people
BonnyBrown replied to okano666@hotmail.co.uk's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
What's the relevance of how many posts they have? Just because they spend their time playing the game instead of posting on the forums doesn't magically make their complaint or appeal invalid. They contribute by playing the game, making the experience exist for everyone they come into contact with, and help show a game like this can be a success. The fact that people pay to host servers with content they didn't make doesn't give them the power to ban users illegitimately. This is a hybrid game that has to be policed this way as abusive admins could just have a private server where they ban everyone to hoard gear without danger that is then used on public servers. And 95% of statistics are made up. How would you know if 95% were legitimate if the admins don't come and post proof? That's the reason for an appeal forum, so people can call out potential abuses. You are free not to use this appeal section when you are illegitimately banned. You are also free not to read this section. So move along. -
Banned from UK 25 for server hopping??
BonnyBrown replied to MiniGoold's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Let's see the evidence which shows the guy was jumping server to avoid gunfire. Since, after all, you're all about only banning people when you have evidence according to your own post. Simply leaving and reentering a server over and over is not an exploit. Moving your tent gear from one server to another requires it. Sounds like this crappy clan feels entitled because they pay money to host content that someone else made and will ban anyone who logs in and out of their server at will. Hopefully the dayz admins will get their shit together and start dealing with scum like this clan and give warnings/start blacklisting. -

Admins should be expected to provide proof for at least two reasons, they are the ones with the power and they need to be held to the same standard that other players would be. 1. They have the power to ban. They get to ban on the fly, so they are the ones in the position to know when an abuse which merits a ban happens. To say they can't be bothered to put together proof when they're the ones who are directly banning a player for an offense which has happened right then when they are banning is not too much to ask. They have logs, they can take screen shots, they can record the behavior at the time it is happening. Whereas players do not have that luxury. Expecting players to magically assume they will be banned at any point in play and screenshot/record every second of play so they can provide evidence to defend themselves when an admin decides to ban them is ridiculous. 2. A legitimate admin wouldn't ban a player simply because another player claimed that they did something wrong. They would expect some sort of proof something had happened. They should be held to the same standard as normal players on the server.

The whole abusive language thing has become a catch all for abusive admins who ban anyone they want then accuse the person of abusive language without proof. Admin probably got his stuff jacked and then banned the guy for "abusive language." Even if he did trash your mom a bit, which you have not shown evidence of, that doesn't sounds like something so excessive or obscene that it should qualify for a ban. Man up little girl.
