That's very nice, I'd love to find a Ghillie Suit someday :D I haven't really found any amazing loot, it's the journey not the destination that counts imo :P My friend and I recently raided a military site, killed a bandit, packed up 4-5 weapons and literally hundreds of bullets into the ATV and back to camp we went, that was fun :)

How could you possibly get joy out of it? Do you laugh like crazy when you destroy the tent? Are you happy? Feel accomplished? I really don't get it. When you eventually make a friend or two and develop your own operating base you'll see how to really enjoy the game, til then have.. 'fun' lol.

Hah, just kidding. I read a lot of threads with players complaining about everything, nighttime is too dark, guns are hard to find, keep getting killed etc. Well, before I first played I watched a fair few youtube videos, read these forums and the wikipedia and this game isn't anywhere near as hard as I've heard. Granted within the first hour I had to youtube how to bandage a wound in day z, but hey, I'm new to ArmA and Day z, now, one day later I consider myself to be quite adapted to this game. I've gone to the airfields, managed to grab a DMR for myself, killed two players with that, one because he was going to die from the zombie eating him alive anyway, and two because it was self defence. I don't plan on using the sniper to sit on a hill at elektro and kill unarmed players, whats the fun in that? may as well kill zombies. Anyway, I now have a tent in a hidden location filled with the weapons I've been collecting, winchesters, sidearms, cz550 and an M16. So weapons truely aren't hard too find. Heres a tip, find a town/few buildings with a building that has two exits, long barns are the best. Crouch run through this area, try grab what you need, if zombies attack, run through the barn, lose them, continue grabbing anything else. Move on and repeat elsewhere. Night time is mean't to be dark, however its still possible to see relatively well at times, if not, use your damn flashlight. I have died about four or five times so far, first time because of being trapped in a building by zombies hehe, next two times were from players (eh, shouldn't have been in elektro/Cherno) the next two times were because of broken legs/low blood, you have to accept you'll die, don't go crawling from town to town looking for morphine because your legs are broken, this is a game, mean't to be fun not a chore. die and try again. The only areas I'm struggling with atm are trying to fix vehicles, I found an ATV and all systems appear to be good to go, I refueled it but it doesn't move. Any ideas? Anyway, point of this thread was just to share my experience so far, and hopefully help some players that are struggling. If anyone has anything else to add, feel free!

Lol'd irl Mordred, I can only imagine him thinking 'wow this guy has alotta morphine! wait..' @Woodland Creature I too have watched a few of DevilDogGamer's videos, I really like part 24 :D Just an update, not long after making this thread, I logged back onto my server and managed a 300m headshot on a ghillie suited sniper with my first shot, although he didn't die straight away, so I fired again then a few zombies stared to run at me, while losing the zombies I noticed my murders go up, quickly ran over and managed some good loot including NVG's! I then found a crashed heli site, M107, M14 AIM and another DMR. I took the M14 AIM and the DMR mags, I put the M14 AIM in my tent and noticed it didn't actually go in, I heard about this happening when the tent is full, although I couldn't find it on the ground, bit disappointed.

Hey guys, I've found an ATV which seems to be in working order (all the parts are green, tyres aren't missing or anything) I figured the fuel was very low, since when I first got on it it moved like two meters then stopped. So I ran around and eventually found a jerry can, I refueled the ATV and hopped on still to find it doesn't work. Does anyone know what could be wrong or what I haven't checked?

These conditions would only be met after a heavy, long going, no cure insight sort of apocalypse. Assuming all of a sudden there was a bunch of zombies roaming around, infecting others, killing etc, there would -still- be a government, everyone would flock to this govenrment initially, as the human population goes down then I believe things might get pretty crazy. The 'government' would just appear to be a bandit group, others would form their own groups, granted they probably won't be as large or civilized as the initial group, it'd still be a group. Lonewolves would be extremely rare, people find security in groups, people themselves are resources and therefore valuable to groups. In this game however, you can easily survive on your own, forever and ever and ever. So theres no real need for groups.

You didn't beat that player, you didn't outsmart him, outgun him or kill him fairly in anyway. Betraying someones trust like that isn't banditry, it's simply shameful. Really no better than a hacker imo.

I believe in any multiplayer game, you really need friends for it to be fun, otherwise theres only so many hours of replayability before you get bored.

My initial reaction to reading 'One was a women character with a DMR, and I believe her name started with a k. My heart was pounding..' I thought love at first sight <3 Then you killed them. Anyway man, bad luck, hope those things are fixed in the next patch, shame on those who need that sort of advantage in a game.

I believe the game shouldn't become soft, being new to the game you should expect to have some trouble, learning the ropes is what I find fun in a game, if anything, the problem is what you do when you're experienced and have everything, the only real option other than just 'staying alive' is to kill players since theres no real reward for killing zeds. There should be more land marks to cross reference with an online map though, perhaps more signs stating 'blahblah distance to whatever', find the whatever place on the map and track the distance away from it to find where you are. But once again, I think exploring and coming across a barn or deer stand on your own is more exciting than specifically walking towards it.

The game will punish you for mistakes, Swift, dangerous players are apart of this game although they aren't the only thing that will punish you for mistakes Following powerlines to a major city, get killed by a bandit, you should have followed powerlines from a distance, preferably within a treeline. Walking and attracting zeds when you should be stealthy. Shooting a zed with a loud weapon just to attract more. Seeing a vehicle in the middle of the road and sprinting straight for it only to be ambushed, should have scouted the area beforehand. Theres loads and loads of mistakes to be made or avoided, yes the ones wherein a zed punishes you are much easier to avoid and learn from. Simple things such as getting food though, are hazardous due to a combined force of other players wanting those supplies as well as zeds being nearby.

The options are endless, you could play chasy if you wanted, I don't know. I'm just pointing the two major options that everyone is evantually faced with. EDIT: @Swift, it is difficult to build ingame friendships amongst players -at the moment- doesn't mean you can't go ahead and use these forums and build a community together with like minded players without the threat of either one of you blowing each others heads off before they represent themselves. This mod is growing, new content will no doubt be added to help ingame community involvement amongst players.

I completely agree with having the need to risk your life to get food/supplies from a town, perhaps make matches more common and wild animals less common/harder to kill (not harder as in super god mode madcow). For instance, lets say you spot a cow in a field, now you can go sprint on up to it and kill it atm, what it should be like is the reverse of a zombie, you make yourself really noticeable by sprinting towards it, it'll feel threatened and run away from you (at about 80% of your running speed..?) this will force you to be stealthy, crouch up to it til your close enough and then charge, otherwise be prepared to chase the cow for a fair distance. That's just my opinion anyway.

You have two conflicting points, firstly you say player killing is highly incentivized then you say teamwork is way way over incentivized? Kill a player or work with them, these are the choices you and others will make during your adventures. Players that kill each other for items generally don't actively seek people to kill them, they just happen to come across them, you can kill them or choose to ask if they are friendly, if you already are playing with friends, you'll be in the position of power. However, those that kill people for the 'lulz' won't care whatsoever about being marked as a bandit, and geez, will they love spawning with a makarov if thats brought back in.

Players banding together is generally more fun than lone wolf'ing it in my opinion, although if I didn't have real life friends/real close friends to play with, I think I too would go lone wolf, trust issues.. Hell, may as well play a single player game if you wish to have no interaction with others though. But good writing, enjoyed reading the journal.

Shoot them in the leg once. alt+f4. Reconnect on the same server. See if they shoot you back. EDIT: Or.. Get a mic and do your best to have a female voice, be seductive.

Hey guys, just curious about whether or not having the lower resolution graphics from arma II free would be better for fps than the full version? I have no problems with paying for full, it's just I'm milking as much fps as I can (managed to get 20fps on this desktop and 30fps on my laptop :-/ during the demo's benchmarks). Might seem like a silly question, however I'd like to be sure. Thanks!

I googled the difference between paid/free version, not a whole lot of difference from what I saw but it might turn out to be really nice if I saw it myself, not sure though. Another small question just for anyone whose tech wise, is it possible to download driver updates for intergrated graphics cards? (My laptops GPU) I can't recall what the graphics card was called exactly, but I know it isn't Nvidia or that other popular brand, if you need me to find out the actual name of the graphics card I'll look in the morn, just post here. Thanks again.
