    Take out .50 cals

I agree with the OP 100% My only wonder is why Rocket doesnt incorporate these suggestions already - just to see how it plays out in the reports back from the community.

I just have to vent (griefing complaint thread)

Well obviously acted like a gimp didn't he - never mind. You should check out the thread where some dudes are wanting to go vigilante against bandits or sniper guns hehe :)

War on banditry!!! Join the fight!!!

Haha i think this is a great and fun idea - basically its a vigilante clan - and why not? I got a real laugh from some of the guys bitching about this - i mean really 'bandits' - about time you got a slug between the eyes hehe

    Real Topic: Disconnecting Resolution

I think 30 secs should be a minimum - 15 secs allows just enough time to escape ones pre-determined fate ;)
  6. It wasnt me but just out of curiousity... how did you kill him!

    I play DayZ to Roleplay

Absolutely 100% agreed on the need to restrict military grade gear - i made a post recently about this on suggestions too! We deal with server hoppers and meta-gaming and or exploits (however you want to term it) when the incentive to grab the 'super weapons' and to play in a style that sees players routinely go to the same spots to collect them - by... replacing them with more short to medium ranged weapons. There is nothing wrong with PVP but lets face it, if you put a few weapons at a disproportionate advantage on the map, that provide an incentive for a very specific type of meta-play then there will be some who doggedly pursue it... Just as there are superficial people in real life - so there will be those in the game running to grab the bling... Except in real life (and as it should be in a survival game) there is not usually an unlimited respawning supply of high tech military gear... If everyone had bolt actions, shotguns, pistols and the freedom to customise characters, skills and or build bases - manipulate the environment (even more) then we'd see less superficial character behaviour too from these kinds of individuals. :) So im glad this is being raised, and im glad those raising the issue can brave the bs thrown at them by some folks here on these threads!

    PvP - server hopper solutions?

I dont know - it might localise the same problems gibonez? Where as my proposals would be server wide - i reckon with an immediate and positive effect on play. A sniper with an abundance of lootable semi-automatic sniper rifles versus the same sniper with a bolt action is still gonna play like a sniper... which is good we dont want to limit playability - but at least it reduces the effectiveness of such a play-style over others. Little things like that really!

    PvP - server hopper solutions?

bugger this should have been posted in suggestions - apolagies :)
  10. Hi there, I love the violent and unpredictable nature of the DAYZ mod experience, and I absolutely adore the zero restrictions on how players can confront one another in their battle for survival. I think meta-gaming or taking advantage of exploits such as server hopping (or obsessing over spawn areas for high tech military weaponry) and the types of individuals (who might then play as griefers and or exploitatively) could simply be resolved by limiting the amount of as i see it (for the game environment) disproprotionately effective weaponry - esepecially sniper rifles. The effectiveness of sniper rifles (and the players who obsess over their aquisition) often relates directly to their prodigious useage against players who (themselves will not rush for those weapons or sit around sites or spawn sites.) The other consequence of (rampant sniping and advanced loot that allows this - is the overt metagaming to acquire them.) I believe that Day Z can provide a better gameplay experience by focussing on the range and diversity of short to medium range weapons (including albeit with limited cosmetic animation melee weapons.) Limiting 'sniper rifles' to something akin to a bolt action, would still allow for a sniper player character class. Thus we could see I believe, more gunfights at the close/medium range level, and less point and click scope killing... with less 'qualitive' difference between weapons there will be less obsession over the aquisition of any 'best' weapons. I think some folks were talking about 'end game' in the other threads or the 'objective' as for many more experienced players this simply becomes (aquisition of sniper rifles.... killing players etc.) More options to allow for a individiaul personal experience of the environment (including its manipulation) ie. being able to build bases, tents, customisable character classes (at least in apparel) will allow for players to reflect themselves in more complex and personal ways. This way players can produce their own end game - expanding things like their bases, homes, etc. This is where DayZ has enormous potential - to give the option for survivors to recreate a new civilisation in the midst of apocalypse - that is the fun of where psychologically teamed players or individuals might go. I think the mod is heading in the right direction, but i do wish there would be consideration for a 'trial' severely limiting the scope weapons - and keeping the vast majority in iron site land :) SUMMARY 1) Focus on short to medium range combat. 2) Reduce over-powered weapons that reward meta-gaming play styles and abuse. 3) More RPG character options, for interaction with their environment and character.

    Factions and Base Raids

"Build bases. I would enjoy server hopping to get inside the base, steal the loot without anyone knowing, and server hop out." You might enjoy puberty too :)

    More player classes / skins?

I just think one of the best aspects of this mod - is that players feel inspired to write stories - sometimes their own fiction based - and to share tales. Some of the most interesting come about from players (playing characters) like my god - that dude who lives in the wildnerness killing server hoppers with an axe! Just an axe! I mean jeez... if that player had the ability to dress his character - what would that dude look like compared to another?!? Id find that would enhance the memory of my encounter (and thus intensity and enjoyment of the mod imo!) I think folks can really invest their imagination into character types and tropes (and clans or teams - be them more uniformal or individualistic) that will make each encounter even more memorable. I think players could even consider characters akin to their specific environment (playing as a villager from x, or a power station worker survivor from y, or one of the priests from the city church and so forth - or not haha... Im certainly not suggesting a world of bs wii avatars - its gotta be the dayz vibe through and through hehe
  13. Hey there guys, I'm not sure whether the limitations of the engine or coding etc make this impossible however, I was just thinking with the clans/ and or even role playing elements of the game, whether further player customisation (And costume customisation) might not be interesting? I think if clans could in effect create skin elements (modest really, like caps, or scarves rather than pink jumpsuits haha) or character types (still dressed in the manner of the post apocalyptic settings... for example a range of camos or civilian clothing. I wonder if that might be fun for bandits or survivors to create more unique characterisations? Vigilantes could dress a little more like cops? Perhaps a player could even dress like a preacher? It might add to the flavour and richness of the human player to player experience and meeting etc. Im certainly not suggesting anything too self indulgent or divergent from the dayz atmosphere. I think the male/female choice btw is an awesome addition. Keep up the great work!
  14. Yep it is tough but i love how tough it is! How many environments do you get to compete in against so many tough or ruthless gits. You do get cases of well dayz humanity too of course. Im a noob, but i find avoiding the areas most players frequent, or cautiousness can save the day! Good luck!
