Please. Please allow the players to remove it, or modify it, or remove it altogether. This is a zombie game you have and the most disgusting thing in the mod is the eating sound. Seriously, its like you recorded in either stereo or 7.1 and spliced someone gargling and crunching and ice cube with a dog licking itself, and some other unmentionable things, then called that an eating sound.

I think he means serverside, not clientside. Although since client fps in arma2 tends to get clamped by the server, maybe.

Chill. Announcements forums is not meant to be e-peen comparing chatroom. Rocket will fix what he can fix when he gets around to it, and Rocket will add content when he gets the chance. It's not particularly fair to treat Rocket like he's a AAA-level development team.

As with all new features rocket adds, melee weapons are going to require at least one, if not two or three hotfixes past 1.7.2 before they work properly. Likely they work just fine on low pop, but on high pop servers it's gonna bug out and players are going to be able to like, defy gravity by swinging hatchets over and over, or something. Also animals are going to spawn all over and you're going to have a cow cluster-fack. Really, only the tone-mapping is going to work correctly, and that's because it's just modified settings in a game_logic that is compiled into the map, and not a new coded rocket feature. So keep your panties on, I guess.

The idiots on the first two pages of this thread managed to get the update, and even managed to get six updater working. If you can't even match then then IDK, you should probably be ashamed of yourself or something.

Honestly? You could just make a semi rare flare type that doesn't light up for about five to six seconds, then people would stop whining cause you could throw a flare without observers instantly knowing the location of who threw it by watching the arc. -
Rocket you do know you're going to have to hotfix this patch at least three times, two of which are going to be fixing the same thing over and over again cause the fix didn't work properly the first two times, right?

About that. Rocket hasn't specified any range besides, and if you'd ever played on normal or easy servers way back when you'd know 'cursor over' distance is very large (greater than viewdistance). Need melee weapons.

fabricated by you. probably same range with direct comm range - im pulling out of my ass but maybe Direct comm range is further than 5 meters, especially with the beta patch (which doubled or tripled it )

I know that before the humanity freeze I managed to rack up over 150,000 negative humanity defending various places for legion from random survivors as a sniper and overwatch. That is, before legion turned full retard. ..And before you go rage on me, I don't shoot people randomly while scavenging. Infact I die quite a bit because I hold fire in beanwars. Sometimes I even run around without a gun after loading up on supplies from the hospital, then see how far I can go sneaking up on people and medding them, before I get shot in the face. Usually 1-2 encounters is my record, as people just see a person and go 'AAA SHOOTIT'

Probably world work better if for the 1.7.1 patch, people would be immune to player damage until they moved a minimum distance away from the closest spawn point, and/or picked up a gun. In my experience, what you've described wouldn't prevent very many deaths at all, and even defeats the purpose of the second sentence in your post. Also, separate from your experience, most of my deaths are centered around barns near large cities.

I just made a custom preset in SIX UPDATER to a random server that required beta and @dayz, then removed all the other mods it required from the preset. I then ticked the beta tickbox on my game profile. Since then I've been able to right click the preset, update mods and update bisigns, and forever have easymode beta + @dayz update.

No, but on the first patch that rocket made tin cans throwable, they could kill a zombie if you pelted them enough.

So ontop of choosing an annoying and overplayed sound, now people will be mousing over with their long range heartbeat sensors? 'LUL ITS FAST SHOOT' is gonna be a thing now. It would be feasible to just disable player vs player damage when it is attempted vs a newly spawned player, that disables when they get a certain distance away from their spawn point and/or pick up a weapon. Rocket, I curse your name whenever I play, but only because of the RNG involved in some actions, as well as the very silly and often highly annoying, misplaced, and sometimes disgusting (to me) sound use. Rabbid raccoon walruses wandering around trying to catch the world's messiest eater while they pant and wheeze and scream like a tortured rabbit at the mere idea that a rabid raccoon walrus may be slobbering nearby, surrounded by rain that sounds more like someone's frying bacon then falling water. .. but someday are you going to disable the buggy-ass anti-serverhop script you implemented but never put in any patch notes to combat people hopping servers to item farm? Pretty please? It really isn't helping. All it is doing is hurting the gameplay for everyone else, and causing more erroneous bug reports for you to sift through.

Patch 1.5.7 and this being an Alpha and fucking zombie spawns

I went into a church in novy starbor all by myself with 8 zombie kills, and came out of it 20 minutes later with 380 zombie kills, and only because I ran like hell because it was becoming difficult to get more than 5 fps with all the zombie corpses creating a new church carpet. Also I use six updater, and I have a custom preset that I use to start dayz that gets both the current version of dayz and the beta patch for operation arrowhead. I don't even have to manually do anything besides select the preset, and my steam copy is good to go. Loot issues are still there, just a lot less apparent because the 'zombie stimulus package' appears to be directly fighting the buggy as hell 'No loot for you, serverhopper' script and winning, most of the time. -
I think people's perception of the loot being broken is actually a side effect of rocket's overly aggressive anti-serverhop script that he put in place to keep people from hopping servers to get more loot. Basically now when you log in it deletes zombies within a 200 meter radius, but it also deletes loot within a similar distance if there isn't another player nearby already logged in. If that criteria is met, it then bugs out the loot and sometimes the zombie spawns for very long spans of time. Usually leaving that place free of players within a kms distance for ten minutes will clear all the loot piles, and then coming back will start the spawning scripts anew.
