will the loot (in the barracks) respawn if you stay near it?
sadnick replied to belgarionnl's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I had loot spawn in a house while I was sitting there looting a different pile, so I actually saw it spawning. -
Patch 1.5.7 and this being an Alpha and fucking zombie spawns
sadnick replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
I think the zombie counts are great to be honest. Now it's challenging. -
Happy birthday, enjoy it.

I don't know why this would be important after all. I've never thought "OMG this game would be way better if I could play a male character!!" when playing Portal (2). Females only tend to make the game a little unbalanced because usually they are skinnier than males, and that leads to smaller hitboxes. I don't care about character cosmetics at all in shooter games though, so yeah, you guys might think about this differently.

If you're in a city and you see dead zeds or even dead players around, be careful, maybe leave the town and camp on a hill observing it until you're sure there's no one else there (this only works for small villages obviously, as there's always people in the bigger cities.). The killer might still be around. Also, if you see a dead player with equip in the middle of a road or plain, be careful too, it might be trap.

Also, there might have been cheaters who only spawned weapons that actually exist in DayZ. No way to tell wether it's legit or not for a player...

I think the size is good enough. By the way, would it be possible to add something like underground tunnel systems? For example a secret military base with missile silos, laboratories or so? That would be pretty epic, and I already thought about opening a thread in the suggestions subforum, however I don't know wether it's possible or not and didn't want to open a new thread without knowing that.

Do I have any chance of playing this game/mod without horrible lags?
sadnick replied to ComboBreaker's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No chance in the bigger cities, it might work in the wilderness tho. -
Well, I'd love to be able to trade in my unused stuff without being worried, however IMO a safe zone doesn't fit into this scenario...

Did anyone buy Arma 2 solely for this mod?
sadnick replied to billyangstadt's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I did that too. This scenario is really appealing and fascinating IMO. Couldn't resist. And it was worth it pretty much. -
Food and water being used offline

Well, I don't really like this game mechanic, but as long as I don't die while I'm on vacation or something I can live with it. -
3rd Person View, why I support it, and why it should stay in game
sadnick replied to tearran's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well bro, that's your opinion, and I'm fine with that. :) My opinion, however, is, that the 3rd person view feels way better in this game. The gameplay is smoother, it's easier to control and it's easier to keep the overview over situations. I do see your point though, but I still don't agree with people that simply want the 3rd person view disabled for everyone. There should be more veteran servers to play on instead. I really wonder what rocket thinks about this. -
3rd Person View, why I support it, and why it should stay in game
sadnick replied to tearran's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
+1 to this thread. Santa, the guy inside could have done the same thing. Sit behind the corner and look around using 3rd person view, camp it out. If he didn't to that it's his own fault. -
I watched it. That situation sucks, but so what? If he was crouching there, those guys wouldn't have seen him either. They MIGHT have seen him when they got there, but that's just speculation. It might be unfair in some situations, but anyone can use it like that. They could have used 3rd person view to look over their shoulders and they would have seen him, and maybe one of them could have gotten away. IMO, each view mode has its advantages, and it's up to the player what to use. Also, the real life argument is invalid, as in real life I'm surely not as clunky as in this game. I'm not as limited. In my opinion, as long as the first person view is like this - hard to use as in clunky, simply turning it off generally is no option. And as it probably will stay like this forever, why not just leave it up to the players how they wish to play? Those, who think 3rd person view is cheating, can play on veteran servers, and those who like it like that play normal servers. Also, I'm allowed to post it anyway, as it's my own opinion. Why wouldn't I post what I think about this? Edit: First quote, y u no work?

Guys, first of all, you really can't argue that anyone has an unfair advantage over others by using 3rd person view while EVERYBODY can use it at will. If they used a hack to have 3rd person view on veteran servers, that would be an unfair advantage. But as long as everybody can use it at will, it simply isn't unfair. If you don't like using it because you're looking at it as cheating, play on veteran servers. Also, I'm a huge fan of the 3pv in Arma/DayZ. The 1st person view is way too... I dunno. It just doesn't feel good. It's very clunky, I can live with that as long as I only have to use it in gunfights, but if I had to run around with it all the time, I probably wouldn't play anymore, just because the game plays way smoother in 3rd person.
