    Are there no chat?

Direct chat works fine. It's for people within a certain distance from you. If you have a mic as well, when on direct chat, you can hold (Default "Caps Lock") to voice chat. To switch chat channels press (Default "." or ","). then press (Default "/") and start typing your message. The message can then be sent via (Default "Enter").

Very good read indeed. I'll be playing on Expert servers when my newb character is defeated.

    Morality

Game based on survival, I feel terrible for every person I shoot down. But its not smart survival if you take too many risks. I never shoot on sight.
  10. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDNI8p5eQhg ^ Perfect example of how some people can't take the game as seriously as it should. Ruining someone's hard-earned progress can be easy, doesn't mean it should be done. I've felt the heart-jumping moment when you come across a survivor who you don't know if friendly or not. I've had the need to kill someone to survive, but I've been killed as an unarmed survivor many more times than any of those moments. The DayZ dev team should allow servers to be Bandit-Allowed, or Survivor-Only. I really think this should be a main priority. This way, people who in real life would team up with others, would team up with people who would do the same. Me personally, I'd like to play on bandit-allowed servers if the Direct chat was extend a few. But I'd start in a survivor server to scavenge what I need. My thoughts on this were spawned when I approached a man -- whom I'd been watching for sometime now -- unarmed. He promptly shot me in the face with his 3 friends. For what, gear (I've none), for ammo (nope), what about food (again new character). Yeah I'm new at this game, yeah this angers me, and yeah I'm not pro. I love the game, and I finally have a character who's had some progress. I do care if he dies, but at least I'm armed, and have a reason to be killed. Your thoughts?
  11. Again I agree with many of your points. Now I have enough knowlege of DayZ to get up and get going without death. 10+ hours, one try not THAT hard. Adding players, is awesome I love it. I love the rush when encountering one, or hearing the gun shots. But when I started playing, learning. Or when I start a new character to be killed for my hatchet, there's gotta be another way to stop it. Killing other players may be justified by saying they may kill me later when they get a gun. But hey, they'll re-spawn and get one, and kill you then... A survival server was meant to portray the image of a zombie-survival, not SURVIVAL. The bandit-allowed idea was nicknamed Realism server because it's just that, real.
  12. Again, options. Most of you like to kill players for no obvious reason. That's fine with me, as long as it's not me. I like to be given a fair chance. With all the PKing I've been uncomfortable giving other players chances... Would I give a newbie a pistol, hell no, because your community trained them to shoot on sight. It's a survival game, not CoD. I want survival servers, and you can use your realism servers, I'm sure I will too. But just because there's a survival only server does NOT mean you PVPers have to participate. It may just be for the people who want a good experience. I want to be able to give a person a blood transfusion and an assault rifle without having to keep eyes on him 24/7. You may like it, I don't. I want to be comfortable and feel safe around players. Any player can easily take out a survivor who has 40+ hours of in-game time with a hatchet. This is WRONG. At that point, I'd want to die by Zed, or face to face battle over a can of beans. What you people are doing is ruining a community of people who want to take it seriously. If there was a survival server, and a realism server, you can still play the way you do, with more of a challenge probably. But until they're separated, your bandit types have all the fun, and I don't want to convert. If a game is intended to be this realistic, I'll play it as I would in real life. And again I'd like to add, I'm not noob, carebare, kiddy, or whatever insult you may conjure up. I'm an adult player who would like to play with other adults looking for a real survival experience. If you can't accept the fact that bandits are ruining SOME of the communities experiences, you need to open your eyes.
  13. Now I didn't say take out Banditism. I just said seperate. If there were 2 master servers one CD key could be home to 2 characters. A survivor/bandit in a survivor/bandit world. And a character in a survivor world. To all the haters: Do you really think you could kill any person while they look at you in the face, unarmed, and asking for help? Do you think you're capable of that. Maybe in a zombie apocalypse, but to have that as your goal, come on. Also I'm pretty good at the game, really nicely stocked as well. My skill has nothing to do with my opinions. I've seen too many people drive into Elektro with ATV and Trucks just to mass murder civilians with hatchets. If you don't think there should be a split, that's fine. But this is suppose to be a realistic zombie mod of a realistic military simulator. Play it as such. If YOU wouldn't in real life, you SHOULDN'T in game. I wish there were more servers with realism players.

The Bandit in All of Us

http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=21915 And that's how I feel about that.
  15. http://imgur.com/9gsqc As you can see in the picture: There's a crashed Heli with a few survivors surrounding it. The Heli had 4 survivors to be exact. What they were doing, I've no idea. Probably repairing it no doubt. Anyway the story goes something like this: Skorpio and I were on our way to a city south of Airfield. Along the way was an empty road, and a hunting stand. Without mention Skorpio was quite worried about this stand, for they usually are patrolled by the walking dead. Not stopping we head toward a group of trees to get a good view of the road ahead for snipers. Before even reaching the tree I point out the crashed Heli to Skorpio, and slowly make my way to it. Not a moment later I realize it's occupied with survivors. "Prone!" I shouted. We hit the dirt. With my camouflage suit on I'm not too worried about being spotted. Skorpio however has this bright blue fitted hoodie. After many moments we watch the survivors move all around the Heli. "What do you think they're doing?" Skorpio asked. "I think they're repairing it..." After a bit -- with our hearts racing of course -- they started coming toward us! Not on foot though, they had a blue van, most likely the same van I found on the coast. As they drive on the road by us, toward the city we left, we stay as still as can be. I stayed that movement-less until they reached the hill, and left our sight. Thinking it was safe, I moved forward until-. "Bike!" Thankfully Skorpio had stopped me. A dirt bike carrying 2 men drive by. As they get parallel to us, I can hear their motor stop accelerating. Thinking they heard us I crouched up with my M1014 with 8 slugs loaded ready to open fire. Quickly they keep on, but don't take the same course the van did; Instead they went into the dirt away from us, and then eventually re-appeared on the hill, once again we soon lost sight. We still don't know where they are, or what they're doing. But I have a feeling they'll soon be back. And we're ready with our loaded guns in hand. Tonight we camp in the hills with perfect sight on the heli, waiting for the 2-pair of survivors to return.
  16. Okay so I was not able to get a video up. The Heli was still there so Skorpio and I were just savaging for food and water. 2 towns away we come that SAME pair on the motorcycle. We fired on them probably first, but we are to far into the game to risk it all. Pic is posted for Lt. T.Steins corpse. Really sorry man, couldn't risk it. Although your friend Viper will get what's coming to him. Logging out to avoid death is cheap. http://imgur.com/fFsKE
  17. I'd sudgest every server admin ever to put a timezone in it's title. For example: Seattle X (UTC -8:00) [Vet|1stPerson] hosted by COMPANYx This would help players like me who are somewhat new and don't want to play at night quite yet. I'd love to, but I have NO defense against something I accidently aggro.

    My 2 cents

I'd like to start by saying I love this mod/game. I've been looking for a really intense zombie survival game for a very long time. Mods included. I've been in the game since counterstrike zombie matches (not THAT long, but still much longer than most). I really enjoy a great encounter with a zombie. I know DayZ is in alpha, and that's why I feel compelled to offer constructive criticism or a few cool ideas (if they're taken as such). And, no offence to anyone who might take it that way, again this mod is amazing. Zombies: +They see too well in the dark +They need to move about %25 slower than a player ++Reasoning: Players won't always want to run due to aggroing more, and more means a longer run. A longer run means less supplies. It's now possible to shake the zombies off, but it can take a lot of effort. +Zombies shouldn't be in closed doors unless a player makes it that way. +(I don't know if this is already true, but just in case)X-Military Zombies should have gear on them. More than a tin can at least. +When a zombie is aggroed because of noise, it should slowly investigate before running TO a target, for it has no target yet. Buildings: +I haven't much to say about buildings. Most buildings are explore-able if the windows are functional (clear). +This goes for buildings, terrain, whatever: In no situation should a player be forced out of prone. (I.e. some steps or hills will force a player into running, grabbing aggro on everything nearby). Player: +Some people now days walk around with pocket knives, and a lighter. So should be the same with DayZ. A hunting knife and matches; This way a player will only need to find wood or a hatchet to get wood to make a fire and or cook meat. Interactive Items: +Players with enough material should be able to build small 1-man to 2-man sheds, or small but more durable outdoor resting area. This will give a player a sense for home, and a place to rest. For example, if a bandit creates this fort and leaves into a town for some survivor-extermination, he might leave behind some guns, or supplies. A survivor or bandit can accidently come across this, and wow, happy day. Chat: +There should only be one chat channel, local or direct. This will give a sense of realism to the game. Vehicle chat is a nice idea, but if you say something in a vehicle as you unknowingly drive by a survivor in a house, he can't hear you as he should. Group chat is also nice, but it's unfair to the people not in the group. I really like the mod so far, and I hope there's more to come. I've been playing this thing almost non-stop, accept to write this of course. I know people have a lot of opinions about certain things whether zombie related or not, feel free to post them. The more people that say something, the more we can be heard (by the dev team, not the zombies that is).
