This was mentioned in regards to the 1.5.8 patch:
-
This patch is looking great.

And it can be hard to tell which is you vs somebody else using the same name. Is it true then that the "day" includes offline time?

Persistance and server switching with tents/vehicles.
Felix (DayZ) replied to Finch (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
Normal dropped items will disappear if there are no players in the vicinity after a few minutes. Items placed on another player's corpse stick around until server restart. -

Getting a lot of disconnect issues with battleye right now that's booting half the server.
-
There's at least 5 last I checked that run beta versions. May be more now, haven't scanned through them all lately.

Been posted about as a bug, so they know about it. Have to wait for the change log to see if its fixed.

Sweet, looking forward to it. Going to miss the carpets though:

bringing dayZ to kickstarter

And bacon, nice fresh crispy bacon. -
When the hive connection is messed up or really bogged down on a server, looting anything can get buggy. We had one instance one night where no loot and no zombies were spawning, pulled down a tent to move it to a better server and couldn't pick up the tent afterwards. So tent was down and no way to pick it back up, IE it disappeared. So if there's issues with looting something, that can happen.

Loving this new patch. -
Patch 1.5.7 and this being an Alpha and fucking zombie spawns
Felix (DayZ) replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Its been amazing since this patch, the zombies have mattered again. We've actually stopped to count ammo before deciding to go check a loot spot or take a long route to avoid some zeds. Used to be just run through uncaring and deal with the handful easily. Now there's risk again, loving it. Even if a good chunk of players hates it and you revert it, I'd love the zombie density as a setting to boost up as a server setting. -
Average life expectancy, really?

It would be awesome if you could rob people without killing them
Felix (DayZ) replied to PURE RAGER's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Interesting concept. Regardless of the aspects of robbery and what sort of humanity hits you might bring to bear, the non-lethal weapon approach might be interesting. It brings to mind various events where I've come upon another player, or they've stumbled upon me without realizing and I needed to decide to shoot or not. Wasn't interested in their stuff, they may not be hostile, but can I chance it? This decision is probably one of the best events I've run into with DayZ, a quick decision then dealing with the consequences. Enter non-lethal weapons and players can start shooting first. My concern is that adding in non-lethal weapons would take away from the quick decisions and feeling of consequence. See that other person? Pop him with a tranq or whatnot, if you want to, you can finish him off later, or just leave him naked on the ground. If its a friendly get him up and continue on like nothing happened. I can definitely see the draw for some non-lethal weapons, but I don't think that they would do good things for this game. -
Notice: All those who get stuck at loading
Felix (DayZ) replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Sent in the RPT, haven't made it onto any servers this afternoon. Was working fine about 9 hours back. -
!!!!Main server does not save..!!!
Felix (DayZ) replied to Dr Klunk's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Last time that happened, even tents and such didn't load again after server got restarted. Basically don't bother playing on that server until it's been fixed for a restart unless you don't care about any progress and just want to mess around. -
I've fixed up and ridden the "Old Moto" motorcycle and a couple ATVs. I've not seen an actual bicycle though.

Do the devs get paid at all?
Felix (DayZ) replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Mods are generally staffed by volunteers. -
Zombies disappear within a few minutes or if people nearby leave or quit. Player corpses stick around until server restarts. Though there has been times where a player corpse will be gone after running back from a respawn, so they're not to be trusted as storage either.

Loving the new zombies, its not just a free ride to zip into the good spots to grab loot anymore by yourself. However there does seem to be something nasty where you're getting spawned on the coast with all of your gear etc. Annoying bit of walking with no vehicles there anymore to repair and use when you logged out next to your vehicle.
-
Have a new vehicle, it probably need some fuel parts. After using the context menu to apply some fuel parts you'll never see the option again unless bad things happen. Your fuel indicator will stay green and all is good. Or as least that's what we assume. The issue I'm running into is that vehicles are eating insane amounts of fuel. I'm not sure exactly how the leaky fuel is supposed to work normally, but after repairing a uaz it still burns fuel like mad. Example, the distance between Stary Sobor and Vishnoy ate up a little over a quarter tank of gas. Should this be happening, did I fix the fuel wrong, or is this possibly a bug?
