    Try this! Head Tracking (FaceTrackNoIR)

You might also check on Freetrack. Uses IR like TrackIR but it's a DIY solution = free. Works pretty well, even for infantry (if you play with the config curves and sensitivity and deadzone). Being DIY it means the quality will depend a lot on your webcam quality and ability to attach/solder LEDs to your headset/cap, though. I have tried FaceTrackNoIR a good while back, didn't work for me so much (obviously it needs good lighting and clean background), but heard they have made a good progress as well. All those solutions are great, even for infantry play, if only for being able to easily look behind you.

    Six launcher....

Also, OP, you use an automatic updater to update to the latest version, and then you complain that it updated you to the latest version and you can't play on the servers that didn't update yet? *facepalm*

    Six launcher....

Seems more like you have a writing (or social) impairment. Please, do look up what concepts like "punctuation", "sentence", "not being a dumbshit" mean, before being a dumbshit (your exact words) to others. If you really wanted some support or suggest something to makers of SixLauncher, you would have probably a better chance using search functions here in the forums, replying to the official stickied SixLauncher thread with a polite question / suggestion and not spamming the forums with yet another worthless thread .

Anyone get this working for a Mac?

Valid point. I was pointing out a free way to try out if ArmaII works on OP's rig, if he doesn't have a legit Win disk yet. So far it has caused no issues for me (I use it myself), but I installed it just and only for ArmaII, I don't need Windows for anything else - though it works for me, there might be many issues I am unaware of. How about the newer Release Preview?

Anyone get this working for a Mac?

Are most of you people just completely stupid? Zombie ate your brains? The OP asked about a simple question, why do you feel you need to spam the thread with pointless crap? Ah the internetz typical LOL crowd...Not surprised, with the huge amount of people these forums have, they just follow the typical Gaussian distribution for intelligence (heavily biased to the left) ;-) Anyway, back to the OP's question. You need Bootcamp. Wine is a no-go. Although you can get ArmaII to run under Wine after some hacking, the DirectX implementation in Wine will give you random problems, and will run slower. 4850 is not so much powerful GFX card for ArmaII, with only 512MB in the iMac, but it should be playable if you lower your settings. There were plenty of people playing ArmaII on PCs with 4850 cards when they were the higher end few years ago, and it was actually the recommended card in the official specs back then (not meaning it could run ArmaII on very high, though :) Your iMac's CPU is plenty powerful for it (i5 quad, right?) (unless you have big singleplayer missions with hundreds of AI, but there struggles everything), but you will be limited by GFX a bit. With your 27" higher resolution, you might have to turn resolution down and use lower settings. Turn off antialiasing in game, turn off AToC in Arma2OA .cfg, use SMAA on low instead for antialiasing. Turn PostProcess to lowest or disabled. Look up other settings optimisation here, me and few others contributed to a pretty good Arma II settings optimisation thread in the Troubleshooting section: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=1355 Lower your view distance, you don't need anything over 2000 for DayZ, maybe even less (you need more for flying in regular ArmaII). PP, AA and Shadows are the biggest GFX eater in Arma. Viewdistance is the biggest GFX AND CPU eater in Arma. And finaly, you can instal Windows 8 Preview on Bootcamp easily (and for free), get latest Catalyst drivers for it, download and install ArmaII Free before you buy the full game to give you some overview of how it will run. All for free (although ArmaII Free is obviously with low res textures, and doesn't support any modding, and is not optimised as well as full ArmaII CO)

Women in a game does not equal Rape

I WUB PUBS, maybe that's why this forum is such a mess when one tries to either find or talk something constructive? Because the "comfort" zone is removed so much. Perhaps it's nice to have a gritty forum for a gritty game, but it seems to me most people posting such things are just too much into their characters. Yeah, all for total immersion and all, but if you start to mistake your ingame character for yourself on an internet forum, there is something wrong with you. Also, please do not make this into discussion on Free speech vs slur (quote:"Most of the players come form countries where there is Free speech"). This is a wholly different discourse, that you were connecting together.

Women in a game does not equal Rape

I don't think it's funny. Just because a bunch of really insecure people (and there must be lots on these forums from some of the posts I read) try to boost their ego by trying to be their own twisted perception of "macho" and all, doesn't make it funny. You know, there are internet forums where people can and do behave like normal people...

Women in a game does not equal Rape

So according to your rationalization, that "It's a game", racial slurs would be ok? Hatespeech would be ok? Because "it's in the character of the game"? Bullshit. That's just stupid, hateful and especially immature talk.

Please remove the flashing screen from game

I had a similar experience of a glitch, first time connecting to a server after few days off, running latest beta (91360 is it?), it was overcast night. For like twenty seconds the sky kept flashing brighter and darker, quite quickly - at least once per second, in consistent rhythm. After some time it stopped. ATI 6870, A2OA 91360, EU9 server. Haven't been injured at the time, happened instantly after connecting (well, after I got into the game so I could play). So I do think it is a bug / glitch.

    Kamenka

May I remind you, o mighty lectioner on English, that this is an international forum. *facepalm* If you are so keen on proper English, perhaps editing the title of your suggestion from something so ambiguous as "Kamenka" into something a bit more understandable like "Change default respawn location" would make more sense to others. Back to your suggestion - I still do not understand it completely, because your text allows for different interpretations. Are you saying that all the random respawn locations that existed before were changed to one only at Kamenka? Did you die on every 7 of those servers and respawned at Kamenka? Then it's a bug and falls into Bug Reports. Or did you disconnect, tried a different server, travelled without dying, and found yourself back at Kamenka after reconnecting again? Then it's a bug again. Perhaps you should give the threads I linked a reading. They mentioned two things: locations being reset (happened to me as well) due to corrupted database and locations not saving, due to issues with servers probably not being up to date to latest Hive version. As far as I know, the default respawn location is NOT ONLY at Kamenka. There are several all along the coast.

    Climbing Zombies

Of course you are entitled to your opinion. Everybody has one...there is even a famous quote long those lines' date=' you know? But perhaps you haven't understood: They are not undead. They are living as much as you are. I don't see predators trying to climb ladders to get to their prey as "silly"
  13. Zombie Squirrel

    Kamenka

It's a bug, brought by a bad server corrupting the database, IIRC. See hive 0.9.1 posts. Player's locations got lost somewhere during the chaos. I am not sure if it has been fixed completely, but last night it saved my new position correctly. Please continue discussion in appropriate troubleshooting topic. See here: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=7045&pid=62966#pid62966'>http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=7045&pid=62966#pid62966 Others to read: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=7045 http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=6872 I suggest closing this :) if you have issues still, post them in the bug reports/troubleshooting please :)

    Climbing Zombies

Wow' date=' really? How should I call them? The living dead, walking dead, reanimated dead? [/quote'] Whatever you prefer :) However, the current backstory corroborated by Rocket's own posts is that they are not your usual reanimated dead. They are infected. IIRC they got infected by a prion disease (infectible protein), disrupting their whole brain tissue, which altered the higher brain functions and made them aggresive and animal-like. You are one of the few either immune or not infected yet. See Rocket's posts. That's the official line until proven otherwise (ie Rocket changes it :) Obviously, their motorics and muscle memory is still working, although badly, since they can walk and run. So it's quite possible they could still climb ladders. Although I cannot imagine actual prion disease spreading any quickly, by the very nature of prions (strange proteins that alter normal proteins with their shape to make them into more strange proteins), but nerve tissue doesn't get that much growth normally, existing prion disease takes tens of years to manifest), I could imagine if the prions were somehow part of an infecting bacteria or some other agent it could grow quicker.

    The Moral Effect Theory v2.0

On the immersion and virtuality of killing somebody - value of human (virtual) life. I have two thoughts on the subject: 1) VALUE OF LIFE. Currently, it lays mostly in the equipment (translate into time spent on game) - more eq, the more you have been playing (wasting your RL time on DayZ:)). On my first player kill, I felt pretty bad for killing him in cold blood (a bandit, but nevertheless, he had four bloodpacks, so I kept thinking, what if he was trying to help people?), especially as he never saw me (M9SD from behind, he surprised me looting a house and I kept hidden once I heard his gunshots outside). The more value your "life" has, the more you will give it to others (well, borderline psychotic and empathy-less cases aside) - if you spend days amassing loot, you will more easily imagine what it is to loose it instantly, all that time spent from your RL (if you have one :)) One problem is with the respawn system. If you don't keep days finding loot, getting emotionally attached to your character, but just respawn and run back to find the first CZ550 you find and go on a killing spree, you don't attach to your character that much, as you can easily respawn and repeat. Please, some of you CZ bandits, say your thoughts if that's valid. So if you die many times, it's easier to kill other players - as you don't have to value your own "life", you give lower value to theirs. SUGGESTION: RESPAWN TIMER. Iron-Man Perma-Death. You die, you cannot respawn until next [insert arbitrary time period here, let's say a day, 12h, or at least 6h]. Because you would fear "death" more, perhaps you would be more empatic to others' deaths. This would not stop the bandits, which is a good thing. They are needed for the atmosphere. It would just stop the run&gun&respawn&repeat bandits. I am not sure how your playerbase would take it, though. But while still in Alpha, that's a good time to try out, no? Perhaps as an experiment for a few days. Might make you value your life, and probably also the others', a lot more. Gameplay would have to be tweaked, so the game doesn't turn to slow-paced sneak everywhere never go into zombie town snailplay, though. 2) VIRTUAL AVATARS NOT REAL ENOUGH As OP wrote, killing somebody ingame is not like in RL. If you aren't immersed enough in the game, you don't take the others as real people. Especially as they are currently somewhat rigidly animated avatars looking all the same (PMC guy). Player skins would help a tiny bit on the "random PMC guy I just killed". SUGGESTION: SCREAMING AND PAIN FX. Make the act of killing somebody more "real". FX here. Use the Arma2 wounded (lying on ground squirming around in pain) animation for dying players. Even for ones dropped by CZ round from afar. Not just drop down dead. Use scream sound FX. You wound somebody, they squirm around screaming their lungs off from pain. Drop lotsa blood. Especially the sound would help - make several screams so it doesn't sound too artificial repeating itself. Executive summary: Make players think about others' life by valuing their own virtual life more with respawn timer as representing emotional and time investment into playing. Make players visualise the death of others by implementing more lifelike (or exagerrated) wounded and pain and dying effects of wounded or killed players, so they can feel they killed a person not some random avatar which could well be just an AI.

Yeah, I know. Sorry about referring to it as "passing out" - foreign language and all :)

    ACE-like inventory system

BTW, better not give Rocket ideas - or he might just implement "passing out" feature into his own "Panic" system and get us all killed just for the tears ;-)
  21. Awesome! Six's team support is great, have been running Arma2 through it long time before DayZ, great to see a dedicated DayZ launcher (with a glimpse of things to come in Six Updater 3.0 :)). I too support the #31875, would be great to have - I usually play DayZ with latest beta because of Direct VON fixes even if server needs only 1.60, unless the beta is not backwards compatible (which is not the case). All in all, highly recommended, mods please sticky it :)

    ACE-like inventory system

Please not the ACE passing out. Although Rocket might get a lot of tears out of it, I just hate the idea of passing out like five meters from a safe position... :) Currently, gameplay-wise, passing out would seem strange when the zombies have infinite stamina themselves. If Rocket adds stamina to Zombies and makes them run normally, why not. Being overweight slowing you down would be good, though. Every other ACE feature re:inventory would be great. I really miss ACE features in this mod. Especially the more real weapons (weapon sights) and inventory system.

Banned from Eu8 for russian language

Myself, I don't care about the languages people write in. For exmaple, I can speak Russian, so it is only an advantage to me if russian-speaking players chat in their language - especially if they share some info they think nobody else will understand ;) Same with other languages. I actually enjoy reading the chat in other languages, e.g. on German servers (my German ain't great at all :)), trying hard to understand them chatting in German, gleaning any useful bit of information from that while being paranoid they are talking about me while being 20m on my six is fun ;-) While in regular Arma MP, if on a coop mission, I can understand a common language is important (and so playing coop on US servers I speak only English), DayZ is bit different. It can spice up the game experience. Anyway, IIRC the long-term plans were for the removal of global chat, no?
